I just left this location. The store itself is clean but this is my second time running into a sales associate who has difficulty counting. My total came to $29.35. I handed the sales associate $40.35, meaning I should've gotten $11 in return. He proceeds to grab $10 from the drawer and starts counting change out. I'm thinking "bizarre" and I must've heard the total wrong. He then proceeds to say "I'm just going to keep the change" and hands me $10. At this point, I'm really confused. It's crowded and the person behind me obviously knows him because he's talking to him and distracting him. Lo and behold, I get my receipt and I heard my total right and he kept my $1. He only put $40 in the computer so it miscounted my change but nonetheless you kept some form of my change by only giving me $10 back. Please make sure the sales associates know how to count and give folks their proper change. I would've said something right then but it was so crowded and let's face it, no one cares! read more

I stopped in to get some Valentines cards and had the worst cashier named Ari'Ana who told me that the $5.00 bill that I tried to use to pay wasn't real. The bill was from 2003 and has the security thread in it. It was real but she loudly said it wasn't. I'm not sure if she was trying to shame me by being so obnoxious but I didn't appreciate her attitude when she didn't even touch or check the bill with the counterfeit pen to make sure. Unfortunately these people who work at the Dollar tree aren't very educated in the details of the U. S Department of Treasury. I checked the bill myself with a counterfeit pen I have for my business and checked all markings and it was a real $5.00 bill, Ari'Ana. Horrible experience with the cashier Leslie, who was arrogant, condescending, sarcastic and made it a hostile environment for my two little girls(3 and 5 year old) and me. First and last time that we come to this location, and also very disappointed that Dollar Tree hires people like this. Attacking paying customers with children when we only came in to buy items for the girls. Berating my daughters and I for buying a kids cereal and trying to give unsolicited parenting advise. When I told her she was being very inappropriate, she continued to berate me and criticize me for buying my daughters a cereal of a movie they like. Very unprofessional behavior. She went as far as telling my daughter "you like this cereal, eww eww" when pointing at the cereal. My daughter was excited to see the cereal box of one of her favorite movies and came out sad and saying "mommy that lady was mean". My 5 year old daughter having more heart and empathy than this person. Customer service and professionalism training needs to be to be provided for their employees. read more

I'm writing this post on behalf of my mother who visited today and was treated so rudely. This is for Sandy. My mother had been there last Wednesday, to buy some lights. The manager said that she could bring them back if they were the wrong ones. So she came back today to return them because they were the wrong light bulbs, and Sandy was beyond disrespectful. My mother conveyed what the manager had told her previously, to which Sandy said "I don't care who told you what." Then proceeded to take the receipt and point to every word on the bottoms of the receipt, as if my mother couldn't read. She then told my mom that she needed to go get 10 items. When my mother returned with the 10 items, Sandy threw them into the bag, without wrapping any of them, which by the way, she had wrapped all the items for a customer that was in line before my mother. She handed my mom the bag and didn't say anything. Utterly unprofessional and unbecoming of someone her age. Sandy could have nicely pointed out the receipt, but no, she had to treat my mother like she was less than. Sandy, that was repulsive behavior. I hope you get some help. read more

What is up with this branch making their own rules?!?? A while back, I was disappointed that they were already closing at 9pm, when it's posted 10pm on the door. Even on this Yelp site, it says open till 10pm. Then yesterday, apparently they will not exchange your items if you bought them at a different location....First excuse. Note, I have the original receipt and items were unused. Second excuse, they have too much inventory of my item. Eventually the associate begrudgingly did the exchange, after a little begging for just one item. If the store closest to me had the item I wanted, I wouldn't come here. AMAZING customer service from Paige. In the past, I had an awful experience at this location with another woman whose name I can't remember. I recall that it was Valentine's Day and I was looking for some balloons. I stood waiting for about ten minutes, which was completely fine because they were busy and that's not their fault, but when I was finally asked if I needed help, I was given a very snarky response. I said "Yes, whenever you can!" and the woman yelled from across the room "Well then you're gonna be waiting a long time." I was very embarrassed by this because there were lots of people around. From that day forward, I avoided this place and dreaded any time I had to go to it. But today - I needed balloons again. Same routine; I walked in, had to wait quite a while because there was only one cashier working, and a long line. This was understandable, but what bothered me was that an employee whose name I believe was Chloe? (I could be wrong, she had dark hair and appeared to be pregnant) completely ignored me even after making eye contact with me. It sounded as if she was taking a personal call, and then went back into the employee only area. (For all I know, she could have been on break, so if that's the case I apologize.) A few more minutes pass by and we contemplate leaving. Suddenly, Paige storms into the building and before she even has both feet in the door she is asking how she can help. Amazing energy, so willing to go above and beyond, and in no way made me feel like a burden. She acted genuinely happy to be there. She is definitely an asset to this team and I appreciated her kindness so much! I saw her act this way towards others as well, and even the people behind me in line couldn't stop talking about how great she was. Paige really redeemed my idea of this place, and I'm glad! The store was a mess, nothing was organized on the aisles and everything seemed very cluttered. I asked an employee for help to find a certain balloon and two employees were very rude and wouldn't answer my question because I have a medical exemption for masks. This particular building used to be a Burke's Outlet for many years. They were an oddball company, but they had a ton of deals. Then it became A+ Teaching supplies, and finally a Dollar Tree. They have a ton of great products, and many are of extremely high quality. It is like an upscale 99 cent store. Apparently that extra penny makes a big difference. They also have a frozen/refrigerated foods section. Some of the things I find in there are insane. I bought about 50 Blu-rays in there the other night, when I went in for scotch tape. Things like thick glass heavy duty beer mugs with grooved handles made in the USA for only a buck. Crazy deals. I almost feel like I shouldn't post t this review because I don't want to burn the spot. I should keep it a secret, but I'm a nice guy. They could use a small fresh produce area in the back, and sometimes they charge tax on food when they are not supposed to, but all dollar stores try to pull that garbage quite often. Also, there is one employee, he is newer, a scrawny male, about 18, dark hair, he is one of the worst employees on the planet, hands down, and he is the single reason that the review is not 5 stars. This Alta Murrieta Dollar Tree used to be very customer service oriented. Lately, the store's a mess, the lines are long (10 ppl in line today)with just one cashier who doesn't even bother to ask for cashier assistance, and the customer service really sucks! I like the dollar tree but yesterday I came in contact with a very rude employee. I asked Annie (manager) for help locating an item she was putting together a display and didn't even look up she just said it's on isle 7 I said I had already looked there and then she just said they're sometimes by the register. As I got in line I didn't see the item and Annie opened a register to help check-out. I stood in line at her registered and asked her if she knew what register the item was usually at and she said at any register and said we must be out. She seemed annoyed and she had an attitude with every response. I bought two toothbrush holders and she just threw them to the side, I asked her for her name and she said "why" I said "because you are very rude" she said "I'm sorry you feel that way, I've never been told that before" I said well you are you have given an attitude since the first question I asked you. To top it off she didn't even bag my Items I had to ask her for a bag. Really you don't think you are being rude? n-e-ways I will avoid this location from now on.
