Michael's Diner isn't really the second coming of Jesus- but when a lot of restaurant kitchens close at about 9:30-10pm on a Saturday in Woodstock for crying out loud and only serve drinks and beer, this was doable for an almost 11pm desperate nosh. And the fact these folks close at 3am, this was a straight up winner. Nestled among strip mall after strip mall paradise in Kingston, NY, Michael's has all your Greek Diner basics with two, down-to-earth/as pleasant as they can get servers who are running a tight ship. The space is large. Has all these multi-color Christmasy lights and green ones towards the back. This to me said Tarantino's 'From Dusk Til Dawn'- without the gore and topples dancing. But let me bend your ears a little though- I get it- no one wants to see a hair on their food. But like someone wrote, "stick to diner basics". Just don't get fancy and shit with your requests. Hubs thoroughly enjoyed his waffle topped with fresh strawberries+blueberries and none of that red glob mess you see elsewhere. My buttered toast+egg sandwich was simple but satisfying. Hash browns are baconless here and I was digging it. All they needed was salt to make them pop with the already subtle seasoning they had. My girl Olivia delivered great service and was a hoot. And she was honest when she told me my Vanilla Egg Cream order was the second she's done that Saturday. She did good...with some coaching. And the music? A hot mix of R&B and some recent pop. The first 2 reviews here are indeed correct about my girl working here. She LITERALLY takes the time to tell you, "I'll be with you soon"- and trust that. She's a talker- but won't chew your ear off. So forget everything you know and hate about Michael's. The game just changed. Olivia our server- deserves an Oscar, Emmy and any worthy award out there.

The best spot for home cooked meals!! From the soup to the salad, it was the perfect compliment to the meal. I can't wait to go back. It was that good!!

Awesome family oriented place to eat! We eat here every time we are in town. A little piece of heaven in upstate New York.

Best Diner in ulster county. Not always the friendliest staff but definitely the best food, especially Greek plates.

I haven't been there in years, however, it was one of the best diners in the area. Convenient location. Good for late night dining.

Their regular diner food is decent, but we love the Greek specialties--especially the moussaka. The owner is a sweetheart.

However, if you can look past that, or even see it as part of the charm, you will love this place! The fresh pasta is unlikely any other in the area. The portions are HUGE! And while we were prepared to wait as the restaurant was full and the staff limited- everything came out quickly and perfectly cooked. While it's on the pricier side, for the ingredients and freshness I'd say it's very very fair. The waitress was an angel, offering dessert and a happy birthday song to our table. Dishes that came highly recommended from our table were the meatball app, porcini mushroom cacio e Pepe (though on the saltier side) and the saffron cream sauce angel hair dish with scallops. Another at our table loved the lamb ragu! I did leave a voicemail reservation but checked in the day of and it seemed like they may not have had it- maybe something to note. I think this is a wonderful spot for a special occasion and it's made it to my top 5 in the area without a doubt!

The portions are HUGE, so the heftier prices make sense! The taste is good - but maybe I'm not used to Venice style Italian so the flavors were a little weird for me. Everything was so rich and decadent and a little on the sweeter side - which was just too much for me even on an empty stomach. You will def be bringing leftovers home ! I would coke again and try different dishes and dessert. Btw - all their pasta is homemade too!

This Broadway business in Kingston gets its name from the Spanish punctuation mark known as a…read moretilda--the squiggly line--called virgulilla in Spanish. So from the get-go you sort of know that you're in for an experience. There are many breakfast options, including eggs, quesadillas and meat pies. The lunch specials included a chicken curry and rice dish. I picked a shrimp and bean wrap which was very good, but a bit pricey at $15. The displays are an eclectic mix of local honey, hemp products, pottery, seeds, vintage and second hand items. Instead of tipping the staff, customers are asked to place cash in a donation jar to help local charities. Likewise, donations are requested in exchange for vegetables sourced from local farms. The store also has a bright orange bicycle rickshaw out front that can deliver you to your parked car or nearby home for free. Since I was parked right outside, I declined an offer of a free ride. It is a unique store which the staff described as a collaboration of a number of businesses. I've noticed it for years but this was the first time I've set foot through the door. Whatever they're doing is working and visitors feel welcome.
