That was the sweet potato and smoke turkey hash and he's still working on those pancakes
    BriAnne O.

My boyfriend and I came here two days in a row for breakfast. Everything was DELICIOUS. Coming from the city, we enjoy and need some good food. Lydia's did not disappoint. Quiet and friendly atmosphere with a DIY coffee bar. Day 1 we both had eggs over easy with corned beef hash and we split the pancakes. Day two my boyfriend couldn't stop thinking about this pancakes so that's what he got. I went with the 2-2-2 w/ cinnamon French toast, eggs over medium, bacon and a side of the sweet potato and smoked turkey hash. That hash was absolutely amazing and I added the eggs yolk into it. I can't wait to try and duplicate that recipe as best as I can when I get home.

The other half of my Shrimp Poboy with sweet potato fries

Lydia's amazes me yet again. It's a Monday, mid-afternoon, and my cupboards are bare. I think of where I've had reliably good food and Lydia's is the first spot that comes to mind. Looking at my copy of their lunch menu, I call to ask about the soup of the day, but then I see "Shrimp Poboy". Now you have to understand that I lived in Pensacola Florida for 29 years and had access to fresh seafood any day and any meal that I desired. Also I was a frequent visitor to New Orleans where poboys were born and bred. I wondered if I was up for possibly being terribly disappointed by ordering a Louisiana sandwich up here in the Hudson Valley, but I was hungry for shrimp. Shrimp Poboy, sweet potato fries and a Coke $12.10 -- so far, so good. Back at home I'm nibbling on some fries while opening up my foil-wrapped sandwich. It sure looks good, and shrimp are falling off -- a good sign that Lydia's doesn't skimp on their shrimp. Ok. Here goes. Biting into the Poboy brings me joy. I am impressed. The shrimp are fried just right, it's dressed with lettuce and tomato, and it has a nice spicy mayo that gives it a good 'ol New Orleans kick. I'm full halfway through, so I'm saving the rest for a snack when I get home from work later tonight, and there are enough fries leftover for two more meals. I was so excited about finding a shrimp Po boy up here that I forgot to take a picture before I ate half of it!

Great food, at amazing prices. Dinner was so good. I went in there thinking I would eat everything on my plate, because I was so hungry. I could barely get through half of my shrimp po boy sandwich.

We were visiting the area and after searching for restaurants that were open, and we ended up at Lydia's because it was open and nearby. I'm so happy this happened because we loved it! I had the beef soup and it was delicious. My wife had the burger and we shared chicken wings as an appetizer. I also had the chicken meal and it was some of the best fried chicken I've had - it was flavorful and very crispy. The place was cozy and the service was great - attentive, prompt and welcoming! Roni (the chef) was very nice and attentive to detail in her cooking. She spoke to us a bit about her process in smoking meats, making broths, and making her special crispy duck. We loved it so much we decided to come back the next night for their NYE dinner. They had live music and a delicious meal. I had the crispy duck and a delicious carrot cake for dessert. The place was full of what seemed to be family and friends, so it seems like it's a local favorite. Definitely give it a try if you're in the area. We'll come back here next time we're in the Catskills!

Great local breakfast place. Love the omelette. Fresh ingredients and quality eggs. Great service and attitude too.

We enjoyed the Figgy chicken sandwich (fig jam, plentiful greens, cheese and chicken, bun could have been better quality) with salad (pretty fresh), and the Caesar chicken sandwich with fries. The server (owner?) was very friendly and explained the menu, saying specifically that the chicken sandwiches are made to order. There were only two other occupied tables on a Saturday afternoon and the food took a little while to come out (not very bad but not super fast). It also seems like a place that should be crowded but wasn't. Coffee was self service. They also had a pumpkin pie in a plastic container (didn't look homemade) in the front. There's a little children's play area in the back. And the unisex bathroom was very large. It's located on a street with lots of shops and other eateries (pizza etc).

Our waitress was very nice, really chill, checked in once but if we had flagged her over I'm sure she would have been attentive more but we just didn't need anything. We ordered two different versions of their chicken sandwiches and they both were amazing! I ordered the club and substituted out for the Big Mac sauce, it was ridiculously delicious! The owner/chef I believe came over after our food was served which was really nice to check in and offered some future suggestions that we'll be sure to take her up on. The food was cooked to order, super fresh and a lot of details that made it a perfect bite! Cute place with a variety of seating options, the old brick work pops through in some places which adds a really nice historic charm to the place. We'll definitely be back to give a few more menu items a try!

The white sauce was good but not my favorite, next time I'd try smoky buffalo or buffalo. The ranch dressing was amazing and herby! I wonder if they make it in-house. On to the entrees - I got the shrimp and grits. The grits were creamy and so good. The sauce was wonderfully flavorful. I would absolutely order this again, but next time I want to try their vegan fried chicken (fried oyster mushrooms)! My husband's burnt ends were really tasty. "We don't have a cocktail menu, but we can make anything you'd like."…read more That was one of the first things our server told us, and honestly, it was refreshing. These days, it feels like every bar has a cocktail menu full of creatively named drinks that require reading a list of ingredients just to figure out what you're ordering. At Governor's Tavern, if you want a gin and tonic, you simply ask for a gin and tonic. The only decision you need to make is which gin you'd like. I'm not much of a cocktail person, but I appreciate that not every place feels the need to reinvent the wheel. The place was packed at lunchtime, but we got lucky and grabbed a pair of seats across from the bar. The server who I quoted was genuinely friendly and welcoming. I ordered a Guinness, but unfortunately the keg had just kicked. She recommended the Samuel Smith chocolate stout instead and even brought me a sample before I committed to taste since I never heard of it, which was a nice touch. For food, we ordered the State Grill burger and the Nashville Hot chicken sandwich. Both were excellent, and each came with Belgian-style hand-cut fries. If you're spending the day browsing the boutiques and antique shops along Warren Street and want a drink, a good meal, and a lively mix of locals and tourists, Governor's Tavern is worth a stop.

We ordered that every time we have eaten here in the past. Weird burger combos were noted. I asked about a burger with gorgonzola cheese - instead of the feta cheese that came on one of the burgers. They are always going back and forth to get stuff - why couldn't they just say yes, and grab a bit of gorgonzola from next door? Note that this was around 5:00 pm and there was just one other table occupied, and two people at the bar who were leaving. I wanted a burger, but didn't like any of the weird choices, so I got a Reuben sandwich. The fries were good, but for $17, I would have hoped the corned beef would be good as well. It wasn't very moist or fresh - in fact there were weird brown areas on the meat. I chalked it up to a bad choice. My partner ordered the Philly steak sandwich on a baguette. He has had the French dip sandwich there in the past and liked it. Unfortunately it was no longer on the menu, so he ordered the closest thing. He said he would not order it again, and that says a lot. I tasted it - and it was just not very good. Sorry to say but it is unlikely we will be back.
