We have been eating here for many years and I should have reviewed it sooner. The food is Always delicious. 1 of my moms favorites is the Reuben Sandwich, I love it too. I also love their chicken wings too. Their homemade soups are always fresh and full of flavor without being overpowering. The people who work here are really nice, they have a truly great staff. If it's possible they are always accommodating. The restaurant is always clean. The bathrooms are always clean. The prices on the menu are fair not overly priced. Every Friday is Pasta and Pizza night. They have bands or events on the weekends too. If your in the area you should really give it a try read more

Steak salad- salad was wet . I mean water on the plate. Steak was flashed cooked? It wasn't grilled and it was watery too. Burger was medium but not hot and flashed cooked too not on grill. Waitress didn't say much or ask what we needed besides asking while we were both still eating if we needed a box. Much to be desired. read more

I've been here more times than I can count, mostly in the last few years but a handful of times over the past decade as well. The Sunday brunch is phenomenal; I can't remember a single time the hollandaise sauce wasn't spot on, and there must be a whole container of blueberries in the pancakes! Highly recommend "Buffy's Choice" for brunch. Even now when money's tight for everyone and prices everywhere are going up this place remains super affordable and reliably delicious. My review is a reiteration of previous reviewers' comments. My wife and I went to High Falls Cafe for brunch after Sunday church service. She had lunch- a chicken spinach sandwich with french fries. I had breakfast- eggs Benedict with a side order of Irish banger sausage. My wife's diet Coke was flat. Ironically, she made this comment just as I was reading a previous reviewer's comment of their soda being flat. My wife's sandwich was "barely edible." My eggs Benedict were the worse eggs Benedict I've ever had. Mind you, i'm not a foodie. I'll eat anything. Their "homemade Hollandaise sauce" was bland and horrid. I agree with a previous reviewer who said that their cook has no taste buds. Lastly, as another reviewer posted, the only saving grace of our meal was the server. She was polite, attentive and professional. We won't be returning to High Falls Cafe. read more

The soda was flat. The French onion soup was disgusting. Onions were raw and the broth had zero flavor. They messed up our order and attempted to correct it but completely failed. The owner came Out to talk to us about adjusting our bill at our request BC we were overcharged. She had a huge attitude and started fighting with us over &4,00. I feel bad for her because she is delusional and thinks that she is serving good food but it's not at all. The only reason why this place is open is BC it's the only place for miles in the country. Try the St. John Flatbread with blackened chicken! It was great. The atmosphere is nice. A pasta dish and a burger at our table were solid choices too. No idea where these good reviews are coming from. The only thing tolerable about this place is the waitress. The rest of it is just sad. The chef has no taste whatsoever, the food did not only look unappetizing it also tasted like sad leftovers over salted or under salted things. Three for dinner and music. Music was very good and loud but not stupid loud. Service was reasonably attentive but, clearly, amateurish; perhaps a daughter or niece. The food was OK but not impressive. The "Cowboy Nachos" were quite good, very generous (enough for the three of us) with nicely smoked pulled pork and tasty, mild cheese and peppers. "Salmon Puttanesca" entree presented as a small slice of nicely broiled salmon with the ingredients of puttanesca sauce over it. I know "puttanesca" as a tomato sauce, usually served over linguine. Here: Diced, fresh tomatoes, sauteed garlic and capers over the cooked fish. My wife - a superb, accomplished cook - reported the "Chicken Marsala" to be "very good." My niece - also an accomplished cook - reported the "Build Your Own Burger" as "fair." She ordered it rare, it arrived well done, sent back, it arrived back correctly done. Menu offered many beers, many salads. The atmosphere was upscale country bar/restaurant: Lots of varnished wood, simple but comfortable amenities, well stocked, circular bar, large TVs over the bar but not the seating area. Sound level (excluding the music) was moderately loud. The band and the dance floor was in one corner of the squarish building, un-elevated, the bar area in the opposite corner. Dinner: 3 beers, 1 appetizer, 3 entrees - $80. I would return for good music and dinner but not just for dinner; too many other, better choices in the Hudson Valley. read more

I'm a regular at this local homestead for great brunch/lunch. Ok not everything on the menu is five star quality but a lot of the food is great. It wouldn't stay so packed if it wasn't. And if you aren't happy with the meal, they are more than happy to make it right or adjust the bill but that doesn't happen often. Owners, wait staff, bartenders are wonderful. Robin, the 'singing bartender' is the favorite and her Breakaway Band is so so good. Music is always fun period. The whole town goes there on New Years Day. And when they have Sunday jazz brunches it's awesome. Love the cafe! read more

Good beer selection on tap and a fantastic bar. Cool patio for drinking/dining. Also a plus that its set right on a golf course. If my review was based off Casey, it would be 5 stars. I went to her at the bar for my drinks and she was kind, courteous, and an excellent bartender. However, our waitress got my beer wrong as well as my entree. She then offered me a pasta dish instead of a salad, because she hit the wrong button. This wouldn't be an issue - if it wasn't 30 minutes after the rest of the table received their meal. I would come here on a night nothing else is going on, or you might miss out on your dinner. read more

Although my last few dining experiences were not good, we decided to give it another try last night. It'll be the last. The food coming out of kitchen makes any local diner look like a five star restaurant. The meatloaf, mashed potatoes were tasteless. Swanson's TV dinners are better. I sent back my so-called tuna steak, it was a hard gray mass, obviously a grilled frozen patty. The pasta was overcooked, drowning in tasteless sauce. The restaurant wasn't crowded but the waitress seemed to be in a rush to remove our plates. Maybe she knew what we were suffering with? She kept coming over and putting her hands on our plates and asking, "Are you finished?". Yes, we are finished. The High Falls Cafe remains a good music venue but the menu and kitchen need an overhaul. read more

Came in for the Tuesday burger & beer special and ordered the Blue Mountain burger -- delicious! Burger was cooked perfectly and the melted blue cheese with the sautéed mushrooms was just what I wanted. Curly fries were a nice side, and the beer selection was great. Great food and fun place to hang out. Best breakfast I've ever had. I won't order hollandaise from any other restaurant because theirs is outstanding and I've learned that no others can compare. Great burgers and wings. The garlic parmesan wings are my favorite -- literally have chunks of fresh garlic on them and the sauce is delicious. Friday night, Wine Tasting Dinner at the Cafe. Owner/Chef Brian Gribbons displayed his true talent, creating a 6 course meal that was excellent in every way. The accompanying wines were delicious and served in abundance by a staff of experienced servers. All this for $45? My friends from Australia who joined me that night were totally impressed. While the regular menu has something for everyone, whether it be hearty burgers, an excellent choice of salads or a more complex entree, this meal was truly special. Kudos Mr. Gribbons. read more
