I proposed to my wife at this restaurant before it was Butterfield,. I was excited to take her back for our Anniversary, but I was a bit hesitant after reading some of the reviews on here regarding the service. Let me tell you, the service was great! The food was fantastic. A small menu, but everything was prepared excellently. my wife had the cavatelli and thought it was amazing. the only thing that I wouldn't order again is the Pilsner Battered Cauliflower with a Chipotle Glaze. Not because its wasn't good, but simply because it was cauliflower and I am not a fan. It was prepared incredibly well though, and my wife enjoyed it. The Ambiance is cozy and intimate and we had a fantastic time. We will be back again. I would recommend updating the menu that is on the website as it was not in line with the menu at the table, but that is a minor inconvenience and makes sense as everything is farm to table and changes rapidly.

When we first walked in, we were like uh are we in the right place and are they open? I guess we booked one of the first reservations and were eating very early! There wasn't a single thing that was a let down on the menu. Everything we ordered was excellent. The kale salad was very good, and I would highly recommend ordering the cheese plate. Our waiter was awesome and even brought us a few extra crostinis. For my entree, I ordered the trout that came with snow peas and mushrooms. Mmmmmmm soooo good. The meal just kept getting better and better. For dessert I ordered a scoop of ice cream and the toffee pudding. Yum! We were staying in Poughkeepsie so Butterfield was a little out of the way, but I would drive back here in a heartbeat. It's that good. The one small complaint I had was that outside next to the road was a little loud. You can't fault the restaurant for that and you also can't beat the nice ambiance of being outdoors.

GET THE BURGER. It's the best burger I've had in a long time. Fresh and juicy. Everything was great.

My boyfriend and I dined here twice while we were staying at Hasbrouck House. The staff was attentive and polite. The first night they were very quick, the 2nd night was a bit slower service due to it being a weekend. I started with a martini with bleu cheese olives. It was absolutely delicious and perfectly balanced. I ordered the paella which was an generous portion and tasted delicious. My boyfriend got the venison, which was delicious, but a small portion. For dessert we ended with a napoleon which was quite refreshing. Overall I would recommend this place if you are in the area!

Beautiful restaurant and the food Was great. We had thanksgiving dinner here. We all thought the food was wonderful. A few people didn't love the desserts because they want d more traditional pies etc nit and they were individual tarts. But they were delicious. The wine was good and decently priced. The service was kind but a little inexperienced but I am sure that everyone is hiring whoever they can as there is such a problem with restaurants finding staff. But we were very happy with our meal and in especially love the interior of the restaurant - very stylish

My husband and I are staying in Hasbrouck House and the July 4 weekend. We had dinner at Butterfield on the 4th, the restaurant is located on the ground letter of the house - which is great - so that we can literally walk down the stairs from our room. Food is super fresh and very farm-to-table style. Service is great too! We requested for outdoor seating and our dinner time was 6:30pm - which is nice because we can still enjoy the sun and also not too hot! My husband ordered the chicken and I had the duck - as always, I liked his dish more!! lol - the chicken is incredibly crispy and moist and soft and fresh! Delicious!!!

Unbelievable meal at Butterfield. I'm not sure why this place does not have a higher rating. The food was superb, the ambiance was darling and the staff were spectacular. We sat outdoors and they had heat lamps which were perfect. You feel like you are in your best friend's backyard garden, in the best way. The inside decor is just as fabulous but didn't spend much time inside, because, COVID. But when this is all over, I can see how guests / diners would enjoy the little touches they have everywhere from the wallpaper to their carefully curated finishes. We started with Sancerre and Jungle Bird. The Sancerre was very, very good. They followed our drinks with complimentary bread which was a great way to start off the meal. We also had the cheese plate which was divine...the cheese was the perfect temperature and the crackers were delicious. We both had the celery leek soup which was very good followed by our entrees for which we ordered the scallops and lamb shank. The entrees were delicious and very rich. The flavor combinations are outstanding so hats off to the chef. We finished with the pudding and apple crumb because, well, we couldn't decide between the two. Wow, what a way to end the meal on a high note. If I would choose a dessert to have AGAIN it would be the apple crumb just because it is a tiny bit less sweet. Overall, unbelievable dining experience and would come back and back again!

    - Awesome meal with good portion sizes (Trio of Local Artisanal Cheese appetizer, the Maine Scallops and Sliced Dry Aged Sirloin entrees, and the Apple Crumb Tart for dessert) - Delicious wine and cocktails - Hospitable and friendly service - Great atmosphere under the current Covid-19 circumstances What more can you ask for? Would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Everybody was friendly, and the place was clean. There is a sign, that there is no Wi-Fi. You actually have to *GASP* talk to each other as if it were back in the 90s. :) You order at the front counter, and then when your food is ready, you walk up to the kitchen window and pick it up. I decided to try the 209 hash. Two eggs, Potatoes, bacon, sautéed mushrooms, sausage, and tomatoes. While the food was good and the over easy eggs were done right, everything was pretty oily. From the potatoes, to the mushrooms, everything. I mean yes, there was bacon and sausage, but there shouldn't have been so much oil on everything else. Again, it did taste good, and it was very rich, but all of the oil took away from the meal, just a little bit. Next time I'm passing by, I would stop again, but this time I would get something else. Thank you.

I did want to add chorizo on it but they said no because chorizo was only available for their special dish which they had. The skillet was really delicious; it had the sauce and the fluffy eggs. I would have like some guacamole or something a pico de gallo for a bit of citrus. That is my only suggestion. My niece ordered chicks and waffles and it was good. The chicken was juicy and the waffle was good as well sweet but not overly sweet. We got the chicken wings which were good; my niece said the wings were too crispy but I love a crispy wing. The flavor palette of cheese and garlic worked well especially with the sauce they provide. Overall the meal was good and delicious. I also ordered a warm apple cider and that was good. We also ordered dessert and that was ok; we had something chocolate with ice cream. The chocolate item was really rich. The service was good; the waitress was attentive. The place gives a homey and neighbor atmosphere. So I would not drive 40 minutes again for it; so I would definitely come back if I'm in the area.

It was my friend's birthday, and we had a party of six. Everyone at the table was blown away by how amazing the food was. Absolutely zero complaints from anyone, ONLY compliments. The drinks were great too! Luckily, Darlings is also extremely helpful and friendly; they have so many vegan and gluten-free options and will work to make sure you get the accommodations you need! The decorations and vibes were also great! Lots of pretty art on the walls and atmospheric seating, lighting, and music. The outdoors section was so pretty. Definitely a great place to have a party or gathering! It is sort of upscale (but still down-to-earth) and a little pricey, but I do think it's definitely worth it for the experience. Just a wonderful place! The highlight of our already fantastic experience was definitely our server, Zack. He was the absolute nicest, most wonderful guy. Even his demeanor is so welcoming and kind, and he was so on top of everything that dinner was literally seamless. He returns any friendliness any positive energy you give off right back to you. I just can't emphasize enough what a kind person he is. I cannot sing his praises enough. He absolutely made the experience, and we are all so grateful to him for it! Although breakfast is no longer offered as part of the room rate, we were "grandfathered in" by the super amenable, welcoming head chef, who, in large part, is the engine behind the hotel's managing group, because our room had been booked when the breakfast plan was still in existence. Our breakfasts were presented beautifully & by servers who were super friendly & engaging, as is the rest of the staff here. The pool had not yet been filled for the summer, so we enjoyed sunning on the pool deck, the sweet sauna, walks to the lake down below the property, played shuffleboard, billiards in the way-downstairs which has stone walls, low ceilings, a wine closet, board games & game table, as well as darts. The first floor library is cozy, filled with couches, upholstered chairs, books, coloring books & colored pencils & the in-house restaurant offers 3 meals a day, either in the beautifully outfitted & sunny dining room or on the back patio, alongside a rain barrel, herb garden, smoke house, fire pit & the grassy lawns.
