First time visiting Michael's Cafe , when we were Entering in the restaurant it was bizarre , because what we thought the front entrance wasn't where they get you seated and employee's seen us standing there confused of why no one came to seat us and was walking past us without at least letting us know we at the wrong side to be seated. The environment wasn't pleasant when you walk in. The inside of restaurant lights was dimmed and gloomy. We walk all around the restaurant in the back to get seated. Me and my husband cup of water had white residue floating. When i told the young waiter that both of our cup of water has white residue floating he seems annoyed and seems as he didn't believe us. Our appetizer came in without any utensils or small plates. So we started eating with our hands till one of us got the waiter's attention. It wasn't a busy day and was not crowed in the restaurant. My husband got the soup of the day that day ( i think it was crab chowder) and it came super cold . My plate of food came cold and i got fries and crab sandwich. One thing came out pleasant was an older gentleman, came to bring our food to the table and he was super nice and friendly. Not where you want to spend a nice evening out with friends. read more

4 of us made a reservation for Sunday May 4th at 5:30PM. We asked if it was a special lobster night and were told yes it starts at 5pm. We arrived at 5:30PM. We ordered drinks then the special lobster dinner. The servicer come back and told us they were out of lobster. The manager came by and told us they only had 10 lobsters for the special. We left. Outdoor seating + Michael's Cafe = the perfect Sunday morning. Fried Calamari served with cherry peppers, Thai or marinara sauce, grilled lemon, basil. I chose to get them with the Thai sauce. Loved them! I absolutely love the Chophouse Wedge with steak. The half size is more than enough for one person. The everything bagel seasoning on the salad was such a nice touch. I've never had Everything bagel seasoning on a salad outside of my own kitchen. Nice! My date and I shared the 22oz bone-in rib eye. We opted for medium. It was charred and seasoned to perfection. It was really good, tender and juicy. The steaks are served with herb butter, herb roasted potatoes and mixed greens. I'd definitely get it again. We tried quite a few cocktails. I first tried the Manhattan. It was way too sweet for me (similar to Capital Grille's Manhattan). I sent it back and tried the Signature Old Fashion. That was more my speed. I enjoyed it and ordered a second. My date tried the Super Filthy Martini but with gin and LOVED it. Stuck with that the rest of the evening. Over all solid 4 stars for me. The loved the outdoor bar/seating at this location, however, the service was lackluster. The service is significantly better, friendlier at the White Marsh location. read more

Multiple tables were having so much fun with the staff that I saw servers taking photos for and with many different tables in the dining area. My group went in for Sunday brunch. Food was great. Fried green tomato starter is my favorite item. Our waiter (Santiago) was wonderful. Unfortunately there was a woman with a toddler that was constantly doing laps from the front left dining room through and all the around the bar area. I felt bad for the waitstaff carrying fully laden trays from the kitchen and having to dodge this lady and toddler. Both the lady and the toddler were loud and disruptive. Here we were "adulting" and going out to a grown up brunch. We sat in the bar and had a delicious meal. We spent $100 and are not complaining about price or value for our money. We would expect this loud casual atmosphere at Eggspections or IHOP. It could have been a perfect Sunday but It was very difficult to enjoy our brunch. read more

My friends and I were looking for a place with heated outdoor seating in Baltimore County and thankfully came across this place in Timonium. You do have to go through the main restaurant to get to the outdoor seating. The setup is cute and everything is setup for social distancing. Our waiter Brian was attentive and very helpful. The food was delicious. I got the crab cake sandwich with fries. The crab cake was a generous portion and came out piping hot. The brioche roll was a wonderful soft bedding for the crab cake. The fries were shoestring and kinda blah. That was my only complaint. Next time I'll get the chips they looked good. The tea selection was a little sad. They only provided Lipton. Other than that I would be coming back when it gets a little warmer. Even with the heaters in tent it still was a cold. I'll definitely try carry out next time. read more

I am OBSESSED with this place's outdoor section and the bartender Robyn. Give her all of your money, all of it. You won't regret it! (She doesn't work on Tuesdays, by the way -- yes I have her schedule). I've never had a bad experience there. Looking forward to these red eyed demon bugs to go away so that I can go back in peace. Some of my favorites are the chicken & waffles, crab dip & the sliders. The only thing I've gotten & didn't really like was the French toast. We recently visited Michael's with a party of 8 ( July 9th), very disappointed to say the least. A 12 oz sirloin steak was $50, Rockfish Nicolas $36. For these prices you would think everything would be perfect. At least I would think so. But that was not the case. - food was average at best. - fish portion was extremely small for price. Only 2 pieces of crab on rockfish. - service was slow And we constantly had to ask for drinks. - they charged extra for bread with the meal- Really - they charged extra for extra salad dressing. Seems to me they Try to be upscale in appearance and price but operate as a budget restaurant once the customer is in the building. Here I am in Timonium MD. A friend of mine recommended Michael's. As soon as I entered, I knew I belong here. Michael's is stylish and inviting. Very loud. I like loud, if you don't, then maybe you'd go to the other bar at Michael's it sounded quieter. I always sit at the bar and always dine by myself. I was served a drink immediately. And my food order was taken as soon as I was ready to order. The price seems to be in line with the atmosphere, a bit pricey. But you get what you pay for. I ordered the Steak and Cake, basically a surf and turf. Filet minion with a Michael's signature crab cake. The steak was amazing (not the best I've ever had, but the best cost twice as much). The crab cake was what I expected, excellent. The potatoes seemed to be missing something, but still good. I will be back. read more

I have been to this place 3 times. Every time I come I opt to sit in the outdoor bar area. Although this are is right next to the very busy York Rd., you would never get feel or hear the traffic due to the massive wall they have surrounding the bar area. They do have a drink menu but it is lacking fruity cocktail options so you have to be creativity and order something familiar. The first time went we ordered drinks and they were not good. The second time we went with a margarita and asked if they could make it a watermelon margarita, it is now our go to drink when we come. What we ate... Great food (husband): California turkey burger with sweet potato fries, crab devil eggs, chessecake. Great food (me): Lobstah roll (5 stars), truffle fries, petite crab cakes. Just ok: Calamari, fried green tomatoes Thumbs down: Seafood club, the crab crab on it is terrible and the bread meat ratio was off. No seasoning. This is one of my go to outdoor bar places. They have fans and heater for the cooler months. read more

This was one of our favorite restaurants. I am not sure what has happened but the service has gone down quickly and so has the food. This past weekend; we went to Michaels on Saturday. It took forever to order; once we had ordered it took even longer to receive the meal. My husband ordered a crabcake sandwich; specify he wanted crackers vs abread. The order came out with bread. I order the salmon, green beans with fries. The green beans were totally cold and looked like they had been done a couple of days ago. When the waiter brought our dinner I asked for a glass of wine had to remind him twice and the wine did not come until we were done with dinner. Very disapointing. read more

We went there for a happy hour, they have a large bar area, and some great HH deals. We got a buck a shuck oysters, that were very fresh. The dollar wings and burger sliders were also good. The food is good but pretty plain. We got shrimps in mozzarella that was just 4 shrimps in a lemon sauce, and spinach. The crabcake had nice lumps, I got it with sautéed spinach and mash potatoes. I saw that they had crab imperial, but it only came with a side salad, I thought that it should come with a more exciting side like asparagus and seasoned rice. I've been to Michael's a few times now and they never disappoint. I've had work celebrations here also and they have been able to accommodate our large groups. I've had the Crabcakes which are some of the best as well the Steve's Robin Burger (their Hangover Burger) which has custom house blend beef and was very good. Their Filet is also seasoned & cooked to perfection. The Crab and Shrimp dip appetizer is a must try! They also have a good selection of beers on tap and bottled. The jalapeño bacon was the best of the three - a little kick but delicious. The wings were spicy, well seasoned and tender. The lobstah roll is also delicious. Lobster and butter, not mayo. I recently had the dining pleasure of trying Michael's Cafe while driving along York Road. Parking was a little cramped in their lot and when I entered, the hostess disappeared with another customer. So I went into the bar area and seated myself. I had the Cream of Crab soup (very good) and a Reuben (also very good). The bartender/server was very attentive, but when I was ready to leave, she had disappeared and I had to flag down another employee. Bathrooms are very clean. I would give 5 stars, but the confusion in the beginning with seating and the disappearing server were mildly frustrating. Overall, I would eat at Michael's again when in the area. read more

We went to Michael's for a Celebration of Life luncheon. It was held in their private dining room. The space was quiet and tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the dining rooms. We were immediately approached by Jenna, our server, and asked what we would like to drink. They offered a pre-set menu of three entrees: Chopped Salad with Salmon, Crab Cake Sandwich, and Hot Turkey Sandwich. To celebrate the life of Ron, most everyone at our table had his favorite - the Hot Turkey Sandwich which came with gravy, cranberry marmalade, and bistro fries. It was perfect for this rainy, cold and windy day. Jenna was really at the top of her game! She consistently came around to ask if we needed anything. We never had to ask for refills on our drinks or water, she just kept them coming. Jenna was a delight. Everything was so fresh and delicious. My girlfriend and I were at Michael's at 9:00 on February 15th day after Valentine's Day, we ordered drinks, crab dip as an appetizer, Crab imperial and Chicken Franchaise as entrees. We get our drinks 20 minutes goes by and no appetizer. Another 10 minutes goes by and we get our entrees. I reminded our server Jade about our appetizer and she responded "I'm sorry I completely forgot about it". My girlfriend and I reach for our silverware realizing that we only have one set (awkward). My girlfriend did not want to be rude and waited for me to flag down a server to get some silverware. I attempted to flag down an older female server with gray hair only for her to stare at me and walk away (WTF??) finally when Jade made her rounds again I reminded her of my lack of silverware. She brings it to me and my food was cold by then. I was hoping since our appetizer was forgotten, silverware was missing, and I was ignored by another server we would have something knocked off our check but no, we got a small sliver of cheesecake and "I'm sorry". After paying $111 I would highly recommend eating somewhere else like bluestone. I've seen fast food restaurants with better service. read more

We were visiting a dealership in the area that recommended Michael's for dinner. That recommendation proved to be a great one. We stopped in and sat at one of the big beautiful bars surrounded by huge 4K TVs. It was nice to enjoy some delicious cocktails, really good old bay wings, and lamb chops that were seasoned and cooked to perfection. The lamb chops and jumbo lump crab cakes are not to be missed. My Dad, HubBae, and I all really loved Corey the bartender. He was so knowledgeable, attentive, friendly, and super funny. I was under the impression that he (and his awesome beard) may have been the bar manager, but that was apparently not so. We had a pretty nice dinner. Some dishes were good, a few things missed the mark. The interior is great and they have a fantastic outdoor patio where I'd go hang if I was in the area. The service was spotty, we had to ask for stuff a few times and waited too long to order. Bit of oversharing from the wait staff, but whatever, it was fine. I wasn't overly impressed with my crab cake so that was somewhat disappointing. My friend's steak was way over salted, pretty intense. I hate when that happens. read more

We sat in the bar area. The bartenders were not very friendly or attentive, thus the four stars instead of five. The front bar is very large & bright. We came for a business lunch on a Thursday. The bar was empty except for four other people. There appeared to be three bartenders working. You would think the bartenders would know that most people are coming from work and might need to get in and out quicker than a happy hour guest. But as I mentioned, the service wasn't that great. The shrimp salad sandwich was delicious, as well as the brussel sprout appetizer. read more
