I had the crispy Cobb salad with chicken tenders, and it was fantastic. The chicken was perfectly moist and flavorful, and the mixed greens and toppings were incredibly fresh. Every bite was delicious. My husband ordered the waffles and loved them just as much. What really elevated the experience was our server. She was knowledgeable about the menu, offered great recommendations, and made us feel genuinely taken care of. Her service made an already great meal even better. Stopped in for the first time for lunch. We were greeted at the door. The atmosphere was really nice. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. We ordered the crab and corn chowder which was just ok. We also ordered the short rib which were good. We order pancakes & shrimp and grits . The shrimp & grits came out cold they brought a hot order back to us. The pancakes were delicious & the shrimp & grits were just average. Had gone here for a birthday dinner and everything was perfect. Although a little on the higher price range- service was good, all of the food was delicious and the atmosphere was intimate and relaxing. We've been for brunch many times but some things had fallen short- such as long wait times for food and cold soup. Luckily this was not the case but definitely want to try brunch again. I don't often go out to Hunt Valley, but on this recent trip I stopped into Barrett's Grill with a friend for lunch. And I must say the food made me want to take another trip to Hunt Valley asap. Upon walking through the doors of Barrett's Grill you can admire the beautiful dining room space that was perfectly decorated for the holiday season. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive giving us time to mull over the menu a while. I ordered the Salmon BLT wrap with fries and was blown away by the flavor. The salmon was perfectly seasoned and blackened, and the peppered bacon was a great compliment. I typically ask for any type of sauces on the side, however, I forgot this time and was still happy with the honey mustard style sauce in the wrap. My dining companion ordered the fish of the day tacos, which was trout and she said they were really tasty. I will gladly say the Salmon BLT wrap at Barrett's is now one of my favorite bites and I actually would like to go back for another dining experience and to try some other menu items. read more

We tried Barrett's because it was close to out hotel and we were all hungry. It was a rather typical mall-based restaurant, but two things stood out. First, the waitress was exceptional. She was funny, engaging, full of information and ready with a quip. She made great suggestions and didn't hesitate to "spar" with me and my brother-in-law when we gave her a hard time (all in jest, of course). The award winning crab soup was as good as she portrayed it. The entrees were good, but the dessert she recommended was otherworldly. I am extremely disappointed by my recent experience at Barrett's Grill in Hunt Valley, especially after strongly recommending the restaurant to friends based on positive experiences I had years ago when I worked nearby. I attended a Mother's Day meal with friends and informed our waitress that I cannot eat pork or shellfish for religious reasons. After initially ordering the brussel sprouts, I specifically asked whether they contained bacon because many restaurants prepare them that way. The waitress confirmed they did, so we discussed alternatives and ultimately agreed the kitchen could prepare another dish without bacon. Later during the meal, while eating and sharing the dish with others at the table who also have dietary restrictions, I discovered pieces of bacon mixed into the food. I immediately spit it out and alerted the waitress. While staff apologized and removed the item from the bill, the issue goes far beyond the cost of a side dish. This was a serious failure in communication and food handling. Once a customer clearly communicates dietary restrictions -- whether religious or medical -- there should be safeguards in place between the server and kitchen to ensure the food reaching the table is correct. If this had involved a severe allergy instead of a religious restriction, the consequences could have been much worse. What made the situation more disappointing was the overall response afterward. Beyond removing the item from the bill, there was little sense of urgency or accountability from management considering the seriousness of the mistake. The atmosphere at our table completely changed, and the entire experience was ruined. Even afterward, service noticeably slowed down for the remaining guests at the table. I understand mistakes happen, but restaurants are judged by how they respond when they do. Unfortunately, this experience fell far below expectations. read more

The food was pretty good! I also had excellent service. The ambiance is definitely steakhouse vibes but the menu has great variety. Appetizer: I started off with the hot honey buratta. It was as advertised, just hot honey on the burrata, all atop a salad garnish. 3/5, not wow but exactly what it described. Entree: I got the crab cakes! It was a work trip to Maryland and I just couldn't resist . They were very good! Very meaty and still a bit "creamy" in the center. There's not really a crust or extra filling so you definitely get your money's worth. Get the remoulade that is suggested with it. It was a nice accompaniment. I also got the coleslaw instead of fries. It was good, just wish it had a bit of seasoning. 3.8/5 for the entree. Drinks: I got their Margarita. I think it was a perfect Margarita. I already knew what to expect because we visited 8-10 years ago for Restaurant Week and enjoyed. Since our last visit, I have been visiting their sister restaurants as I live near 1 and travel to the other. Both magnificent!! This location is no different!! Same ease of locating and parking. Great service is a standard, and quality dishes are a must. This evening, we ordered the following. Strawberry Fields Salad: Refreshing and fulfilling. Barrett's Bacon Cheeseburger: Perfect temp, delish, and fresh fries. BBQ Flatbread: A huge conversation piece. Hubby devoured half and took the other half for lunch the next day. After walking in we were told to wait another 15 minutes (in a space that was crowded with limited seating). After being seated it was another 6 minutes before anyone came to take drink orders. I had imagined a scathing review. It all turned around when our server arrived. She was extremely helpful, efficient and friendly. Barrett's was not out to gouge and had a pretty extensive menu. I had the oyster imperial and my partner the crispy Brussels sprouts. Lots of crab and perfectly charred oysters. The sprouts were fantastic. I had the pork ribeye which was tender and had a great chimichuri sauce. The scallop risotto was outstanding. Dessert was equally wonderful - peach cobbler and strawberry shortcake (which was an ice cream cake). The food was outstanding. Service was great. The manager came around to make sure all was well. 12.02.2023. After a tough 5 mile hike at a nearby park, I had worked up an appetite. We arrived after our reservation time due to a hiking complication, but the staff accommodated us with a smile. The restaurant was moderately crowded but the ambiance was chill. Feels like a popular neighborhood spot called Burtons Grill in Prince George's County. The menu had a lot of good options and the server shared that it's a scratch kitchen so we could modify the dishes as required. We ordered the butternut squash soup which was savory deliciousness & the cream of crab & corn which had a touch of sweetness. Their blackened shrimp & cheddar grits (no sausage) and Brussels were bursting with flavor. The textures were on point too. I boxed leftovers to enjoy later. The corn and crab soup is flavorful yet somehow light despite all the cream. Perfect amount of flavor without it being overtaken by the old bay. The shrimp and grits is my go to. There has been variance (I assume change in chefs) but this one is perfection. The shrimp might be ever so slightly overcooked. There were four of us celebrating a birthday. From the time we walked inside, all the way to our exit was a 5+ star experience. The food was fresh and incredible. The crab crostini appetizer was so flavorful without being too salty. Our entrees were, blackened chicken pasta, salmon dinner, bacon cheeseburger, and shaved prime rib eggs Benedict. Dinners were delicious because I tasted everyone's food. Lol For dessert we had fresh Berries napoleon, carrot cake, & apple crisp w ice cream. Desserts were so fresh, with portions large enough for sharing. Service was attentive but not overdone. Dominick was very knowledgeable about the menu, and made recommendations. Barrett's Grill isn't a chain restaurant but rather it is part of a local restaurant company. The restaurant menu is interesting but not in a usual way as it literally has something for everyone. Appetizers we sampled and shared were very attractively presented and also quite tasty. The Catch of the Day was a grilled swordfish steak. It was amazing, the Shrimp and Grits are served on a plate as opposed to a bowl. The grits were creamy and cheesy . The Filet with Maitre d' Butter was cooked perfectly. The dessert list was predictable but managed to make sure that there was again something for everyone. Mall food has changed, no more Orange Julius. We tried this place for a Sunday Brunch . Excellent atmosphere , service and cuisine. I had the Po Boy Shrimp and the crab soup and they were both great. As in most restaurants these days, the drink prices are high. A martini type drink was $13.00. The one crab ball appetizer was a bit costly $24.00. Beyond that , most of the prices are fair. This was my second visit to this restaurant, and once again, the experience was fantastic. The first time, I came with my son and his godfather. I ordered the French toast, and it was absolutely delicious -- so good, in fact, that I didn't even need syrup! The whipped cream is made from scratch, which took it to another level. My son had the rib dip and devoured it -- I'm not sure he even paused to breathe! The eggs were fluffy and perfectly cooked, and the potatoes were well-seasoned and satisfying. On my second visit, I tried the pancakes. They were a bit too dense for my taste, but what truly stood out was the service. Our waitress, Michelle, was wonderful, and Vanessa, the manager, went above and beyond to make sure I left happy. They offered me something else that I ended up really enjoying. We were there on Friday 3/21 with a group 6 and had a wonderful time. We had a private room and our server was a delightful young lady. Well versed on the menu and attentive. We all got something different. Generous French Dip sandwich, Ribs and Steaks. I had the Risotto with Filet Tips and my only criticism is not enough of that flavorful Risotto. The interior of the restaurant has a bit of a chain vibe (for some reason it reminded me of CPK), but the service was really good. The menu is pretty classic - a very American cafe/restaurant. Everyone else ordered a salad or soup and salad combo, but I went with the Turkey Rachel Sandwich - turkey, Swiss cheese, thousand island dressing, and coleslaw on marble rye. The quality of the ingredients was good and the sandwich was well toasted. Three of us dined at Barrett's for a double birthday, brunch celebration. Terrific menu options - something for everyone. One guest chose the signature summer steak salad and commented how delicious it was. Another chose Eggs Benedict - which was cooked to perfection. The third opted for the golden waffle with fruit and whipped cream - Yum, and what a treat! As for service: Tyree was personable, and took exceptional care of us! We'd ask for him again when we return. For dessert we picked the carrot cake. Delicious - a little more dense and gooey than what we were used to - perfect for two candles and sharing. The service was because the waiter Zack took care of my family and a friend with such care and excitement! Also, attentively checking for our orders and taking our dishes away. That was truly high-end service with an ace of character to make everything delightful for us eating out. Elizabeth, the receptionist, taught me how to rate this restaurant. Y'all are having a bright upbringing for the young men and women here, along with the older staff who might have added to the experience. Of course, I'm going to talk about the food! It was great. I had braised short ribs as the main dish with a side of Mac and cheese, and the dessert was flourless chocolate cake. They both wore just what I expected. I would say the service took a bit long, and the food portion should increase per serving like the flourless chocolate cake was small for how savory it was. Though the mango sorbet was such a fabulous dessert, I'd say have neutral food options available for people who want a healthy approach to Barrett's grill and excluding the salad because they are meant to be healthy, like the option of the fruit bowl and Greek yogurt bowl. If it weren't for the immaculate service though, this would be a 4-star review. Close to our hotel I wish we would have found this place earlier...comfortable chic I would say. It would be an easy 5 stars but the service was a little slow/ Lax don't get me wrong the server was very nice and I think just had too many tables. Everything we asked for we eventually got. APPETIZERS the calamari was fantastic lightly fried with a little zing to it! The Thai chili sauce I didn't care for because I didn't feel it needed it my partner had the ribs and really enjoyed it I was in the mood for something different since I had eaten my weight in crab cakes and seafood for the majority of my trip. I had the French dip with Gruyère, mayo and horseradish au jus on a fresh baguette. I am glad I ventured out because it was THE BEST FRENCH DIP I have ever had. The meat so tender it just melted in your mouth you barely had to chew still thinking about it makes my mouth water so juicy and flavorful! I always order the Fig Flower cocktail when I come to Barrett's, but I was disappointed this time. I love anything fig, and this was not anything fig. The crab soup was OMG! The consistency of the cream was perfect, and the lumps of crab were abundant. Delicious!! Barrett's makes some of the best loaded baked potatoes in the area. I know what you're thinking......how hard can it be to bake a potato then load it up with tastys? Barrett's gets the perfect amount of sea salt and toppings. So good! Girls Night Out at Barrett's Grill!!! All I can say is WOW!!! We started the evening with the pineapple passion martini, it was Perfection! I was a little disappointed with my fried green tomatoes appetizer. So our wonderful waitress suggested the mini crab cakes. They were delicious and completely turned my frown upside down! The braised short ribs were fork tender, I'm a huge fan of the onion strings. To top off this top tier meal, I chose the bread pudding for dessert! Was very excited for the lobster roll which they didn't have as well. Everything seemed to be an up charge too for adding anything common to a sandwich. The staff is always friendly, but they disappear and basically ghost you during your meal. Especially if you choose to sit outside. Visited for brunch and the food was good as well as drinks. Although they did get the order wrong and had to remake my eggs Benedict. Overall taste was good. Tonight the service was slow and the food horrible. Ordered 2 drinks from the bar which were subpar. Ordered the old bay wings. No old bay and the wings were very small and they breaded them. Definitely the worst wings I have ever been served at a restaurant. I've had better wings from a gas station. The Mediterranean flatbread was edible, but cold when arrived to our table. Saw one waiter, who was friendly and personable who took our order then never saw him again and finally another server brought us our check. Overall, I was disappointed. read more
