This is the second location not Michael's cafe that I have tried. And it is by no means second. I did an early Sunday morning because they were featuring the Ravens in London game that was ealr morning (9:30 am). When we first got there they were in disarray because the manager had gotten into an accident en route. But they pulled it together and operated as a well-polished team. The ambiance was great. Nice decor and well well-kept and well-cleaned restaurant and bar. There were plenty of screens so that you could see the game from every angle. The steak and eggs were well cooked.the steak was very tender. The eggs were scrambled and topped with cheese. Very tasty. The breakfast potatoes were well seasoned and had a great flavor. But they were cold. The pancakes were plate sized and had a great flavor. It needs to come with more syrup though . That was a lot of pancakes. The eggs over easy should have been ordered over medium or over hard. The bacon was perfect. The piece de resistance was the grits. They were piping hot, perfect texture, and were smothered with grade-A cheese. We also ordered an Irish coffee and a coffee with Baileys. Both were good. The coffee was very good. We loved our brunch experience at Michael's Cafe - the high ceilings and modern decor, the chicken and waffle and the spring of fried rosemary, the presentation and size of the yogurt parfait. However, dinner was a great disappointment. The dinner environment is very lively (aka noisy) although that wasn't the main drawback. My husband eagerly ordered the dry aged steak medium rare, only for it to come out as well done. We didn't want to make a fuss but to pay for the most expensive steak on the menu only to have it completely overcooked was very deflating. I ordered a crab cake which was very good, lots of crab meat, and substituted sauteed spinach out for coleslaw ($2 substitution fee). The spinach was so salty it was basically inedible. I came here for a company happy hour. The location is super easy to find and parking was great (it's cold out so parking is a big deal lol). I was greeted immediately upon entering. The food was good, the crab dip was the best thing to me. I also tried the Espresso martini, I didn't get any beans for luck but the cocktail was good. This is our second time dining here. I made a reservation to celebrate my parents anniversary. I did note in the reservation request the occasion we were celebrating but unlike last time, when we dined here to celebrate another anniversary occasion, the waiter did not mention it at all. During dinner, I had to text my husband to ask if he could discreetly pull the waiter aside to let him know we were celebrating my parent anniversary and if there was anything special they could do. Thankfully the waiter did take care of it and brought out a complementary dessert with candle for them. The food was good as well as the drinks. I had the shrimp and grits. I feel like it needs a couple more shrimp to balance the shrimp to grits ratio and a little less onions. We stopped by Michael's after hiking on Sunday. The restaurant was busy and I was nervous that we wouldn't be seated without a reservation but they took us to a table immediately. It was nice out so we sat on the patio. Service was slow but our server was nice. I ordered coffee and asked for cream and sugar but it never came. I ended up drinking the coffee black, which isn't my favorite but didn't kill me. We also ordered palomas and grapefruit crushes, which were pretty good. My friend and I decided to share the meathead omelette and French toast. The omelette was thick, fluffy and full of meat. I'm happy we shared it because I wouldn't have been able to finish it. The French toast was delicious. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the French toast because I don't like cereal and it's coated in two different cereals. Never again. I ordered cereal French toast for pick up. The employee at the front desk was rude- no eye contact, no mention of the cost before taking my credit card out of my hand, and when I asked for directions to the restroom she pointed and said to the left. The door she pointed to led to stairs, so I confirmed and once again, with no eye contact towards me nor the direction I was pointing to- she said yeah. I stood there for moments longer, asking again as I once again watched an employee walk in the direction she told me to go and walk downstairs that looked like a designated area for employees only. She finally gave me accurate directions. The French toast tasted nothing like the cereal French toast served at the Michael's White Marsh location. It tasted like subpar regular French toast and was a total waste of my money and time. I'll stick with the other location- better food and customer service. read more

We absolutely LOVE Michael's. I prefer the renovated side idk why. But I do, my family sat outside which is something we love when the weather is nice. We go anytime, but traditionally we go after my daughter's first day of school- started at Michael's for this tradition once she got to middle school. She still orders pasta or burgers, but it's a great portion size and flavors never miss. The bartenders always make great drinks and the waiters or waitresses are attentive. They let the kids that eat from the kids menu pick from a treasure chest which I think is nice. We'll be back. On my most recent visit I had the short rib, someone got it last time in our party and I knew I'd try it when I came back (I didn't try it immediately bc there are so many great options) everything the short rib came with was delicious, all the flavors paired well. We got honey old bay wings and crab deviled eggs to start- delicious. They do charge per dressing for the wings which I think is odd. I've had the lamb meatballs and hummus before and that is amazing as well. Pesto pasta w/ blackened salmon, 2 pepp pizzas, and a burger. The whole table was satisfied. I highly recommend this restaurant. The outside enclosure is beautiful. The food and service were excellent. I had shrimp stuffed with crab imperial with a buffalo cauliflower appetizer. A Mother's Day delight. Came here during Mom's Day weekend when masks were still a thing. Servers were wearing masks, tables were spread out. It was a nice setup. Service was on point all night. Prob went a bit overboard with the apps. Got three to start off, but I just couldn't help myself. Went with the Old Bay wings, crab dip, and crab deviled eggs. I need mah seafood fix when I'm in Maryland. So pretty much everything I order is going to be crab related. The Old Bay wings were everything I could have hoped for. It's just such a great dry rub on wings. And I usually just like traditional buffalo hot sauce, but for Old Bay I'll make an exception. There's a reason it's one of the most popular seasonings in the world. Like other people have mentioned, the crab deviled eggs were a bit underwhelming. For $12 you get five pieces, and there's not a whole lot of crab meat. Their "award winning" crab cakes passed the taste test for sure. Not really that imposing at only 5.5 oz. I think the gold standard is still Koco's pub with their 11 oz. crab cakes. But I suppose if you don't want to feel like a fat ass, the smaller crab cake will still suffice. Def some southern flair here. Quality shrimp & grits, topped with a vibrant sweet corn succotash. And my crab imperial came with a side of sautéed spinach, the North's answer to collard greens. Looking past the fact that my crab imperial resembled an aborted fetus splayed out on the plate, the food was quite delicious. Presentation be damned, every bite was magic. And at the end of the day, isn't that what it's all about? Well folks, we've reached the end. At this point, I can pretty much type whatever I want. No way anyone is still reading this review. We stopped in after church for lunch. Getting to the parking lot was no easy feat but we were able to find it and park. Upon our entry, we were greeted by the hostess and advised we wanted a table for two. We were then escorted to our table and given menus. Our server came and she had the sweetest mannerisms ever, saying please and thank you and was very attentive. It didn't take us long to decide on what to order, but unfortunately the item my husband wanted, the Pitbull, was not available, so he settled for the tuna sandwich and I had the Classic Benny. My wife and I ate at the bar yesterday and our server Ethan who was very nice and engaging and then this instance happened: My wife had ordered the tuna powerhouse (I know for a fact she did because I distinctly heard her say, "no sprouts"). Ethan, put in for the poke bowl which was probably an honest mistake. But what he failed to tell us/an argued with us was that: 1. It was $10 more expensive. 2. So the whole, "Oh i am so sorry i will take it right back and get you the correct food" didn't happen or at least an attempt. 3. He said he would have to eat $2 difference for something to do with an order of fries that was supposed to come with the correct order. This is when we started to get really pissed off. He tried to make himself look like the victim. Over 2 F%$king dollars!!! Didn't offer to swap it out for the correct food or take any type of ownership. It left a bad taste in our mouth. We ordered take out for Father's Day from Michael's Cafe because we heard the food was delicious. I'm using 1-5 scale for the items I purchased. 1 being the worst and 5 being the best. We ordered 2 appetizers/add ons, the deviled eggs with crab meat and the fried brussel sprouts. 2 entrees, fish and chips, seafood club sans bacon and tomatoes, substituted chips for truffle fries. And for dessert a slice of smith island cake. 1 star-Deviled eggs with crabmeat, they were bland with just a touch of crabmeat. Probably because there's a crab shortage, I'm thinking that's the reason. These deviled eggs needed some love and seasonings really bad. 3 stars-fried brussel sprouts, nice and crispy, but a little too oily. Comes with blue cheese and some delicious sweet hot sauce. 3 stars-seafood club, I felt the shrimp salad had too much mayo and overall it was too salty. The truffle fries, I mean garlic were disgusting. The garlic overpowered the fries and sandwich since the fries were in the bottom of the container. I had to throw the fries away, and there was an up charge for them. 4 stars-fish and chips, the fish was seasoned well and fried well. It did get a little soggy in the container but you could tell it was crispy. I also loved the sweet pickles that came with it, I think they should be on the side in a separate container though. Wish it would have came with some tarter sauce as well. 1 star-smith island cake, it was dry and the icing was just blah. Throw the whole cake away already. I would return for the fish if I'm in the area, I wouldn't go out of my way though. The customer service was good over the phone and there were no issues with pick up. read more

Our waitress was over the top Great! but food was not as good as I have had in the past. I requested medium rare meat and it was under cooked. My order was a wedge salad with steak on side. My spouse was thrilled with his burger which was nice. Our other guests one had salad which she was happy with but other ordered a sushi dish which was ok. He mentioned having better sushi from a much less expensive Sushi carry out house. None of us complained but none of us will be rushing back. I frequent Michaels often, both locations. I came for brunch today but chose to stick to my usual. Oysters and seafood club (not shown). My server was amazing and very attentive, unfortunately I didn't get his name. I also had the buffalo wings for the first time. not pictured lol. Sometimes videos are better and that's what I captured and for some reason yelp doesn't like videos. I had the espresso martini for the first time here and it was by far the best one I ever had! I throughly enjoyed my visit today. Will be back soon, can't wait till the weather breaks and the back outside patio opens back up . The ambiance at this location is very appreciative. So I'm in between a 2-3 for this place. Not a good experience tonight from service to the meal. The waitress seemed to be in the weeds at 5pm and table bread isn't a given unless you ask for it. Don't ask, horrible. The crab cake is a 5.5oz. and although small was decent and had good taste but packed with filler for $27. This cake is accompanied with slaw and fries. Fries were McD-like and good. The Cioppino had a decent flavor although the fish of the day wasn't skinned and it became unappealing as ever bite of fish found me extracting the fat from my mouth. If you like muscles the Cioppino dish was packed with over a dozen, no clams and few shrimp, maybe 4 babies. I guess that's about it. Disappointed and my highlight was my stout Guinness. read more

We chose the restuarant side. It is very classy, elegant, and upscale feeling. The staff were super friendly, attentive, and were flexible to our order adjustments. The Drinks: We all ordered different drinks. I'd like to highlight the Gold'n'Delicious. There is no better cocktail. It includes loveton farms distillery apple pie rum, giffard banane du brésil, cinnamon syrup, apple cider, and ginger beer. It is a fall/winter goodness on a cold day. A+. Go order it. Be careful with Gold'n'Delicious. The taste will make you believe that you can handle multiple. It's a lie. Be determined to drive home on your own cognition. Drink one and be grateful. Lol. The Food I ordered the CLASSIC BURGER. It includes brisket, short rib, chuck, applewood bacon, american, iceberg, tomato, pickles, onion, secret sauce, brioche bun, and bistro fries. I visited this place once before about 7 years ago. It's sort of fancy. But it also has some good bar food and entrees under 15$ The appetizer was wings. They were lightly fried. Not the usually heavy crust that I'm used to but the chicken didn't seem to have an batter on it for a crust. Never the less they were still good. Complemented with ranch dressing. I got the corn beef sandwich $13. If was okay. Perhaps a bit under salted. It's comes with marble rye bread and swish cheese. If you're feeling ambitious add some mustard to it. It comes with homemade chips and a pickle. I have to say that the chips were too hard and cooked too long. I would have rather had fries. Then there was the seafood club that my sister had. It's comes with bacon, crab meat, shrimp, tomato, and lettuce. It's was pretty tasty and creative. I never had anything like that before. Finally the drink I had was a watermelon crush. Now this was surprisingly, good I would have another. They follow all Covid protocols and there was amble spacing in between tables. Very intimate lighting and tons of parking in the rear. read more

Everything I ordered at Michael's cafe hit the spot!!! Their old bay wings, side of grits, split soup (half cream of crab, half MD crab) were all delicious! The service was fast and friendly as well! My friends and I went here after going to a concert at the Timonium Fairgrounds. I tried my friend's grilled octopus and it was really good. They have a nice/fancy outdoor area. Increasing my rating and updating my review. Considering the other time I went here was very much pre-pandemic, to have a better experience post-pandemic was wonderful. When so many restaurants are experienceing lack of staff impacting the customer experience, that was not the case here. Visited on a Sunday, early evening, so it was not crazy busy. The service and food were very good and it definitely changed my mind about coming back to this restaurant in the future. The one downside I think is the fact that the main entrees don't allow for one to choose their sides. It just happened that I was ok with spinach as my side for Imperial stuffed shrimp. Both items were tasty and I will say I really enjoyed the flavor the spinach. Spinach can sometimes be bitter but the kitchen was able to make it savory, no bitterness and cooked just right i.e. wilted. read more

I'll sum Michael's Cafe up in two words - mediocre & expensive. The decor is nice, though. I started brunch with an egg custard crush, which was actually an orange creamsicle crush with a smidge of marshmallow cream on top. If there was any egg custard in it, it was all orange-flavored. There was a decent amount of alcohol in it, though. My wife enjoyed it more than I did. I ordered the shrimp and grits, which sounded like a slightly spicy twist on regular shrimp and grits. The combination of over-smoked jalapeño bacon, spicy succotash, spicy grits & shrimp ended up being somewhat unpleasant. The smoke & spice overpowered nearly all of the other flavors. However, the texture of the grits was smooth and creamy, and the shrimp were tender. My wife's lobstah roll ended up being pretty mediocre. The lobster didn't taste fresh, and, although there was something on it which looked like spices, it was fairly "meh". Texturally, it was a bit chewy, not tender. The beurre monté didn't help much, but the kettle chips were very good. read more

She was attentive and knowledgeable, and was a key part of our amazing experience. The scallops on special were delicious. If I could eat one thing for the rest of my life, they would be it. Between my husband and me, we ordered the crab dip appetizer, chicken francaise, scallop special, bread pudding, and creme brulee. I stopped in for lunch after an appointment in the area. Had the spinach salad with blackened shrimp and added a crab cake just for kicks. The shrimp was cooked to perfection and the crab cake was a good choice with lots of limo crab meat. Our server Brendan was excellent as was the rest of the staff. Overall a pleasant dining experience. Had a reservation and got a really nice table based on our music preference for the evening. My party of four enjoyed the Summer Thyme crush and Calamari to start. Each of the dinners were actually good in their own ways. I got the moules frites and it was delicious, the underdog of the dish is the lemon aioli. The shrimp and grits are delicious, the grits are actually good. The salmon with mashed potatoes and spinach was decent, with the fish lacking slightly in flavor. Lastly the Chicken Francaise was flavorful and juicy.
