I had a team lunch at Bluestone Restaurant and it was delicious. I got the curry chicken salad and it was amazing! The flavor was spectacular and the croissant was perfect. A burger, mahi-mahi tacos and salmon lunch were also ordered at my table and everyone raved about their meals. Service was great and the restaurant was fairly busy for a Tuesday afternoon. During my recent trip back to Baltimore, my friends and I made reservations for four on a Saturday night. I'll admit, I was convinced my GPS had failed me when it led me into a business park. Just when I was ready to question my phone's navigation , BlueStone appeared like a hidden gem. The restaurant was large and looked upscale from the outside with plenty of free parking, making the first impression even better. We were seated immediately, and the hostess greeted us with a genuine smile that made us feel right at home. The ambiance is warm and inviting with a perfect blend of casual elegance. There are several dining spaces throughout the restaurant, including private rooms that would be ideal for birthdays, rehearsal dinners, or other special occasions. Our server was attentive without hovering and gave us plenty of time to enjoy our evening. We kicked things off with cocktails, including a French 75, White Cosmo, and Blackberry Bandit. Every drink was expertly crafted, but the French 75 was the undeniable star of the night, I enjoyed it so much I ordered a second. When it came to dinner, my friends all chose the crab cake entrée and they all enjoyed their food ( they are locals), proving that Bluestone knows exactly what they are doing when it comes to a well made crab cake. I ordered the Ocean & Gulf entrée. My dish included a jumbo lump crab cake, deep-sea scallops, and Gulf shrimp served over forbidden black rice with sautéed vegetables in a honey garlic beurre blanc. Every component was cooked perfectly, and the flavors blended together so well that each bite felt like a little celebration. It was one of those meals where the conversation pauses because everyone is too busy enjoying the food. As if dinner wasn't enough, we finished with Taharka Brothers Honey Graham and Vanilla Bean ice cream. It was creamy, rich, and the perfect ending to an already fantastic meal. BlueStone exceeded my expectations from the moment I pulled into the parking lot until the last spoonful of dessert. Great service, good prices, decent portions and expertly prepared food and cocktails. Definitely an atmosphere that's perfect for everything from date night, a family celebration, to a girls' night out. It was busy because of the holiday but Bluestone has a lot of seating. I asked the 3 girls at the front for a table with good lighting. The hostess didn't hesitate and we were seated immediately. There was a Fathers Day special of 2 separate entrees . Our Server Jake told us the Steak was sold out . That's pretty good for them. Sounds like I should try the steak another day if they have it. I wanted a small plate and Jake gave me 3 recommendations: BANG bang shrimp, mini crab cakes, & Crab Spinach dip. I ordered the Bang Bang Shrimp and the beet salad. This was another "live in the moment" dinner for me. I am deciding to be more deliberate about enjoying my food and not taking as many pics. Everyone on Yelp has the same pics of the same food. The beet salad was so good. Very appealing plate. The Bang Bang Shrimp were swimming in sauce but still tasty. I really wanted to try a new red wine Jake recommendations were : JEZEBEL & Alta Pavina. Service was a 5 but the food was mediocre to poor. Had the filet and crab cake. Crab cake was ok. Filet came out cold and was tough. The very friendly and helpful waiter offered to have it remade. The kitchen just put the same filet on the grill to warm it up. Oh and it was tiny. Although I asked for the dressing on the side, it arrived a bit drowned. Still tasty but I'll admit that it gave me a tummy ache and thinking about it now makes my mouth pucker. After stopping at the pet expo at the end of January, my husband and I stopped in for dinner. It was my first time at this restaurant and he could not recall if he had been before. We were seated on what appeared to be the enclosed patio. It looked like they probably have the ability to partially open it up in the nicer months. The server was friendly and attentive and explained the menu to us. When choosing an entree we were able to have a soup or salad and dessert. If you didn't want the dessert you could order soup and salad. I ordered the beef short rib and had the beet salad as an appetizer. He had the lamb chops with a Caesar salad and Maryland crab soup. The appetizers were good and he enjoyed his lamb chops. My short rib was not that great. The meat had a ton of fat in it and overall was not my favorite. I've been here twice so far. My first experience was good. It was for a meeting in a private room and everything was tasty. I enjoyed the cocktails, especially the green velvet. I tried the cheesesteak egg rolls, Caprese flatbread, bacon wrapped shrimp with barbecue sauce, and calamari. I got the firecracker salmon, and it came with potatoes and asparagus. The entrée was very small but the salmon was perfectly cooked. For dessert, we had the chocolate mousse which was divine. I returned here the second time on Valentine's Day with my husband. The service was still very good, but this time we were seated in a very crowded area, in pretty close proximity to other customers. The fresh bread and whipped butter were absolutely delicious. However, we were very disappointed with our entrées. I got the fisherman's risotto which lacked the shrimp broth flavor promised and any significant seasoning. My husband got the firecracker salmon and his portion was bigger this time than what I got initially, but he said it was slightly overcooked and not spicy as the name would suggest. The brussels sprouts that accompanied the salmon were excellent, but the saffron rice that accompanied the dish had very little flavor and was bland. We got the chocolate mousse, which was very good again, but I would've appreciated a little crunch for extra texture. We stopped to dine at Bluestone once again on our way up 83 N. They offer a Sunday special, which is a three course option. You can choose any soup or greens, an entrée, and then dessert. It was very tempting, however, we were only ordering for lunch. To start they gave us a warm, crusty rolls, which were yummy. Hubby enjoyed a bowl of Maryland crab soup and the shrimp salad wrap, and I had a chicken and avocado salad, which was fresh, delicious, and enormous. I took half of it home for lunch tomorrow! Cage was a great server. Both personable and attentive. This is a large, clean restaurant with a nice clean bathroom as well as a full bar. Lots of private spaces for a larger party as well. This visit was part of a girls weekend. Even though Baltimore is fairly local since I'm in the DMV I'd never been to this place before. On the drive up to it I'm wondering what is in this industrial strip mall? But it's a gem. The atmosphere is pretty cool inside. There are a few different zones of seating. There's the bar area, areas of long tables (great for large parties), a loft feel in some places with tall ceilings in some areas and regular height in others. The menu is vast and I was feeling like a crab cake. The crabcake was great, almost no filler, the mashed potatoes were creamy. This was my first visit to Bluestone Restaurant in Timonium, and it definitely won't be my last! From the outside, the place gives off the look of a seafood house tucked into a business park--but as soon as you step inside, you're transported somewhere else entirely. The restaurant wasn't overcrowded, allowing us to enjoy our lunch in a calm and relaxed atmosphere. Let's talk about the food and drinks--amazing. I started with the Strawberry Chocolate Martini--delicious, smooth, and full of flavor. I followed that up with an Espresso Martini, which was equally impressive. We ordered the Fried Green Tomatoes, and I have to say, they were out of this world--crispy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. For my entrée, I had the Seafood Club which came stacked with a perfectly cooked crab cake, crispy bacon, and shrimp salad. I swapped out the fries for the Bacon Brussels Sprouts, and I'm so glad I did--they were a hit! Every dish on our table was beautifully presented and absolutely tasty. To end the meal, I couldn't resist trying the Key Lime Pie. It was the perfect balance of tart and sweet--so flavorful and the perfect finish to a great dining experience. The place was packed , but the staff were really friendly and quickly brought us to the spacious and modern indoor dining area. The seafood was easily a 9 out of 10 overall, and here's how we'd rate each dish: Two-Way Tuna - 9.5/10 The raw tuna was incredibly fresh, smooth, and melt-in-your-mouth tender. The fried rice underneath was full of flavor and paired perfectly. This dish really stood out. Crisfield Stew - 9/10 A hearty portion loaded with shrimp, scallops, and fish. The sweet and tangy tomato broth made everything even more flavorful. Perfect comfort food. Complimentary Bread - 8/10 Soft, slightly chewy with a gelatinous texture. Surprisingly addictive. I dined at BlueStone again with some friends and we sat in a really nice, well-lit area. Food- I enjoyed everything. This time I chose the Ceassr salad over the soup and was very satisfied with how crisp and fresh the lettuce was along with the shaved Parmesan cheese. The bread was warm and soft as if it had just come out the oven. The crab and artichoke dip with pita bread was a shareable and delicious. My margarita with a little extra simple syrup was extremely good. I ordered the salmon with spicy sauce and double Brussel sprouts which I only took a few bites from due to being stuffed. What I tasted was mouth watering. Not to mention, it was great having it as leftovers the following day. I did eat my crème brûlée . Our server, Savannah was on her A game. The bacon on the bluestone salad should be sold! Delicious! My broiled crab cake was very good. Little filling, and mildly seasoned so you can taste the crab - just how I like it. Always a great experience. I used to get the Crisfield stew. Great broth, lots of seafood. But last time it seemed to have less seafood, so I switched to the crab cakes. I liked them even better than the stew!. I've gone on weekends, weekdays, and it's always crowned. That's the mark of a great restaurant. The smaller rooms are less noisy. They advertised surf and turf for $39. A deal- right? No- they ran out of the special at 6:30- right in the middle of most dinnertimes! The baited you to come in - then don't have the product to serve. Poor planning. Just poor planning. Period. And the manager on duty didn't have the courtesy to come over , speak to us or offer any apology. Or make it right. He made the server tell us- not once but twice when they thought they had a one left-- but didn't. Guys- very poor planning to run out so early. However, the best of the best shine through under the pressure. So was the case with Bluestone on V-Day 2025. Management acumen made the restaurant not seem overly crowded or too bustling but clearly every seat was filled. Bluestone manages its reservations and wait-list with aplomb. 2. Food was wonderful per its lofty standards - We expect greatness at Bluestone and it delivered. Again. The Crisfield Stew never disappoints. Big hunks of fresh seafood in a very tasty broth - like bouillabaisse crossed with Maryland Crab Soup...." I had the highly excellent crabcake-stuffed-flounder, served on a bed of very tasty seasoned rice - sort of a risotto. We devoured the super-hot, fresh rolls while enjoying a couple of perfect cocktails featuring blackberries. Our newish waitress Lauren was rock solid (Kelsey last year probably cannot be topped). Haven't dined here in almost 10 years but decided to try again for diversity in the area. My GF and I like spicy food so we tried the Seafood Pasta Diavolo. What a disappointment, almost devoid of any tomato sauce base except for sundried tomatoes with no taste whatso ever. Absolutely NO heat at all and the pasta defied explanation as the elbows were the size of conch shells! The shrimp were over cooked and the crab had the flavor of a Chinese product, NOT from blue crabs For $32 dollars it was a waste of money. This is a top-notch seafood joint in the area. Jake is a really good waiter and the whole restaurant staff seems to have a nice professionalism to them that is often lacking in other places in 2025. The food has been really delicious each time I've come here, most recently I got some seafood medley that comes with a Maryland crab cake and shrimp and scallops (see picture) and everything was delicious. It is a little bit pricey for what you get but the way this place maintains its classiness almost doesn't make you feel so bad for spending lol. read more
