Nothing says girls' night out like great cocktails, delicious seafood, and lots of laughter, and BlueStone checked every box. During my recent trip back to Baltimore, my friends and I made reservations for four on a Saturday night. I'll admit, I was convinced my GPS had failed me when it led me into a business park. Just when I was ready to question my phone's navigation , BlueStone appeared like a hidden gem. The restaurant was large and looked upscale from the outside with plenty of free parking, making the first impression even better. We were seated immediately, and the hostess greeted us with a genuine smile that made us feel right at home. The ambiance is warm and inviting with a perfect blend of casual elegance. There are several dining spaces throughout the restaurant, including private rooms that would be ideal for birthdays, rehearsal dinners, or other special occasions. Our server was attentive without hovering and gave us plenty of time to enjoy our evening. We kicked things off with cocktails, including a French 75, White Cosmo, and Blackberry Bandit. Every drink was expertly crafted, but the French 75 was the undeniable star of the night, I enjoyed it so much I ordered a second. When it came to dinner, my friends all chose the crab cake entrée and they all enjoyed their food ( they are locals), proving that Bluestone knows exactly what they are doing when it comes to a well made crab cake. I ordered the Ocean & Gulf entrée. My dish included a jumbo lump crab cake, deep-sea scallops, and Gulf shrimp served over forbidden black rice with sautéed vegetables in a honey garlic beurre blanc. Every component was cooked perfectly, and the flavors blended together so well that each bite felt like a little celebration. It was one of those meals where the conversation pauses because everyone is too busy enjoying the food. As if dinner wasn't enough, we finished with Taharka Brothers Honey Graham and Vanilla Bean ice cream. It was creamy, rich, and the perfect ending to an already fantastic meal. BlueStone exceeded my expectations from the moment I pulled into the parking lot until the last spoonful of dessert. Great service, good prices, decent portions and expertly prepared food and cocktails. Definitely an atmosphere that's perfect for everything from date night, a family celebration, to a girls' night out. This has officially earned a spot on my list of must visit restaurants every time I come back to Baltimore. read more

Sunday 5pm Fathers Day Server : Jake We were on our way to Hampden for ice cream but missed our exit and landed in Timonium. The first place that came to mind was Bluestone. It was busy because of the holiday but Bluestone has a lot of seating. I asked the 3 girls at the front for a table with good lighting. The hostess didn't hesitate and we were seated immediately. There was a Fathers Day special of 2 separate entrees . Our Server Jake told us the Steak was sold out . That's pretty good for them. Sounds like I should try the steak another day if they have it. I wanted a small plate and Jake gave me 3 recommendations: BANG bang shrimp, mini crab cakes, & Crab Spinach dip. I ordered the Bang Bang Shrimp and the beet salad. This was another "live in the moment" dinner for me. I am deciding to be more deliberate about enjoying my food and not taking as many pics. Everyone on Yelp has the same pics of the same food. The beet salad was so good. Very appealing plate. The Bang Bang Shrimp were swimming in sauce but still tasty. I really wanted to try a new red wine Jake recommendations were : JEZEBEL & Alta Pavina. I chose the Alta Pavina (a high alcohol content you may only need 1). I wasn't feeling like a Jezebel on Sunday and decided to wait for a Friday night for that red wine. read more

After stopping at the pet expo at the end of January, my husband and I stopped in for dinner. It was my first time at this restaurant and he could not recall if he had been before. We were seated on what appeared to be the enclosed patio. It looked like they probably have the ability to partially open it up in the nicer months. The server was friendly and attentive and explained the menu to us. When choosing an entree we were able to have a soup or salad and dessert. If you didn't want the dessert you could order soup and salad. I ordered the beef short rib and had the beet salad as an appetizer. He had the lamb chops with a Caesar salad and Maryland crab soup. The appetizers were good and he enjoyed his lamb chops. My short rib was not that great. The meat had a ton of fat in it and overall was not my favorite. Great service by Sadie on a weeknight for 5 people. The Bluestone Salad is always a hit and this time I added blackened shrimp. Although I asked for the dressing on the side, it arrived a bit drowned. Still tasty but I'll admit that it gave me a tummy ache and thinking about it now makes my mouth pucker. I'll just order something else next time! Not much of a happy hour menu. We were there early and there was no happy hour to speak of. Salad was $25 and each glass of wine $9 so not inexpensive here. I've been here twice so far. My first experience was good. It was for a meeting in a private room and everything was tasty. I enjoyed the cocktails, especially the green velvet. I tried the cheesesteak egg rolls, Caprese flatbread, bacon wrapped shrimp with barbecue sauce, and calamari. I got the firecracker salmon, and it came with potatoes and asparagus. The entrée was very small but the salmon was perfectly cooked. For dessert, we had the chocolate mousse which was divine. I returned here the second time on Valentine's Day with my husband. The service was still very good, but this time we were seated in a very crowded area, in pretty close proximity to other customers. The fresh bread and whipped butter were absolutely delicious. However, we were very disappointed with our entrées. I got the fisherman's risotto which lacked the shrimp broth flavor promised and any significant seasoning. My husband got the firecracker salmon and his portion was bigger this time than what I got initially, but he said it was slightly overcooked and not spicy as the name would suggest. The brussels sprouts that accompanied the salmon were excellent, but the saffron rice that accompanied the dish had very little flavor and was bland. We got the chocolate mousse, which was very good again, but I would've appreciated a little crunch for extra texture. This visit was part of a girls weekend. Even though Baltimore is fairly local since I'm in the DMV I'd never been to this place before. On the drive up to it I'm wondering what is in this industrial strip mall? But it's a gem. The atmosphere is pretty cool inside. There are a few different zones of seating. There's the bar area, areas of long tables (great for large parties), a loft feel in some places with tall ceilings in some areas and regular height in others. The menu is vast and I was feeling like a crab cake. The crabcake was great, almost no filler, the mashed potatoes were creamy. The arugula and goat cheese salad was very refreshing and the service was attentive and high-quality. Everyone in my party of 7 was pleased with their food. a happy find! read more

We stopped to dine at Bluestone once again on our way up 83 N. They offer a Sunday special, which is a three course option. You can choose any soup or greens, an entrée, and then dessert. It was very tempting, however, we were only ordering for lunch. To start they gave us a warm, crusty rolls, which were yummy. Hubby enjoyed a bowl of Maryland crab soup and the shrimp salad wrap, and I had a chicken and avocado salad, which was fresh, delicious, and enormous. I took half of it home for lunch tomorrow! Cage was a great server. Both personable and attentive. This is a large, clean restaurant with a nice clean bathroom as well as a full bar. Lots of private spaces for a larger party as well. I came here for Father's Day. The experience was average, but I would return to have a better experience I know they are capable of. GLOWS: -I enjoyed the beet salad and the chicken fran entree. I appreciated that there were some lighter options on the menu. -Bread is complimentary, which is a nice touch. GROWS: - Our service was friendly, but a little scattered. We had to wait a while to be check on and to receive our check. We came early to beat the crowd, but I think some larger parties coming in started to overwhelm the server. -Certain utensils were not as clean as they should be. This was my first visit to Bluestone Restaurant in Timonium, and it definitely won't be my last! From the outside, the place gives off the look of a seafood house tucked into a business park--but as soon as you step inside, you're transported somewhere else entirely. The foyer greets you with beautiful artwork and flowers in a cozy seating area, and the entire restaurant is tastefully decorated, including the bar and both dining floors. We had a 1:00 PM reservation and were seated right away. Our servers were warm, welcoming, and very knowledgeable about the menu, which made our experience even better. The restaurant wasn't overcrowded, allowing us to enjoy our lunch in a calm and relaxed atmosphere. Let's talk about the food and drinks--amazing. I started with the Strawberry Chocolate Martini--delicious, smooth, and full of flavor. I followed that up with an Espresso Martini, which was equally impressive. We ordered the Fried Green Tomatoes, and I have to say, they were out of this world--crispy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. For my entrée, I had the Seafood Club which came stacked with a perfectly cooked crab cake, crispy bacon, and shrimp salad. I swapped out the fries for the Bacon Brussels Sprouts, and I'm so glad I did--they were a hit! Every dish on our table was beautifully presented and absolutely tasty. To end the meal, I couldn't resist trying the Key Lime Pie. It was the perfect balance of tart and sweet--so flavorful and the perfect finish to a great dining experience. Overall, Bluestone exceeded my expectations. Beautiful ambiance, fantastic service, and food that hits all the right notes. Five stars all the way! Loved my first experience at Bluestone! Went for lunch during Preakness weekend and was pleased by the experience - our server was attentive and so kind , as were the other employees we came across. All entrees were fantastic - I love that they served the mahi tacos with additional salsa on the side! Don't sleep on the side of brussel sprouts - they were a highlight of the visit! After spending the afternoon at Towson Center, we headed to this super popular seafood restaurant and it did not disappoint. The place was packed , but the staff were really friendly and quickly brought us to the spacious and modern indoor dining area. The seafood was easily a 9 out of 10 overall, and here's how we'd rate each dish: Two-Way Tuna - 9.5/10 The raw tuna was incredibly fresh, smooth, and melt-in-your-mouth tender. The fried rice underneath was full of flavor and paired perfectly. This dish really stood out. Crisfield Stew - 9/10 A hearty portion loaded with shrimp, scallops, and fish. The sweet and tangy tomato broth made everything even more flavorful. Perfect comfort food. Complimentary Bread - 8/10 Soft, slightly chewy with a gelatinous texture. Surprisingly addictive. Always a great experience. I used to get the Crisfield stew. Great broth, lots of seafood. But last time it seemed to have less seafood, so I switched to the crab cakes. I liked them even better than the stew!. I've gone on weekends, weekdays, and it's always crowned. That's the mark of a great restaurant. The smaller rooms are less noisy. I dined at BlueStone again with some friends and we sat in a really nice, well-lit area. Food- I enjoyed everything. This time I chose the Ceassr salad over the soup and was very satisfied with how crisp and fresh the lettuce was along with the shaved Parmesan cheese. The bread was warm and soft as if it had just come out the oven. The crab and artichoke dip with pita bread was a shareable and delicious. My margarita with a little extra simple syrup was extremely good. I ordered the salmon with spicy sauce and double Brussel sprouts which I only took a few bites from due to being stuffed. What I tasted was mouth watering. Not to mention, it was great having it as leftovers the following day. I did eat my crème brûlée . Our server, Savannah was on her A game. Wish the website had been updated to reflect this! Mini crab cakes: 3.8/5, they had a great amount of meat but it was a little salty and could've used more sauce Maryland crab soup: 5/5, nice deep seafood and tomato flavor, generous amounts of crab, and salted perfectly! Crisfeld stew: 5/5, again generous portions of seafood, scallops were cooked well which I find rare in stew since they tend to get overcooked! From apps to drinks to entrees and dessert, everything was delicious. No Notes. I do wish they had crab dip. My husband wasn't a super fan of the cream of crab soup but admittedly, we are crab snobs. The bacon on the bluestone salad should be sold! Delicious! My broiled crab cake was very good. Little filling, and mildly seasoned so you can taste the crab - just how I like it. What a disappointment, almost devoid of any tomato sauce base except for sundried tomatoes with no taste whatso ever. Absolutely NO heat at all and the pasta defied explanation as the elbows were the size of conch shells! Many comments I made last year in my Bluestone review remain equally valid: 1. Grace under pressure - Restaurants can display managerial weaknesses on Valentine's Day. Even good and great restaurants, which can get crushed by numbers of holiday celebrants. V-Day may be one of the busiest nights of the year for upscale restaurants. However, the best of the best shine through under the pressure. So was the case with Bluestone on V-Day 2025. Management acumen made the restaurant not seem overly crowded or too bustling but clearly every seat was filled. Bluestone manages its reservations and wait-list with aplomb. 2. Food was wonderful per its lofty standards - We expect greatness at Bluestone and it delivered. Again. The Crisfield Stew never disappoints. Big hunks of fresh seafood in a very tasty broth - like bouillabaisse crossed with Maryland Crab Soup...." I had the highly excellent crabcake-stuffed-flounder, served on a bed of very tasty seasoned rice - sort of a risotto. We devoured the super-hot, fresh rolls while enjoying a couple of perfect cocktails featuring blackberries. Our newish waitress Lauren was rock solid (Kelsey last year probably cannot be topped). I have been to Bluestone many times and have never been disappointed until this visit. I ordered the Seaside Street Corn. The shrimp and scallops were good, however the corn actually tasted like canned creamed corn. The corn may have been slightly better had it been charred. Additionally, the online dessert menu listed a lemon blueberry cheesecake but the menu in the restaurant didn't have it which was disappointing. We did have great service though. read more

This is a top-notch seafood joint in the area. Jake is a really good waiter and the whole restaurant staff seems to have a nice professionalism to them that is often lacking in other places in 2025. The food has been really delicious each time I've come here, most recently I got some seafood medley that comes with a Maryland crab cake and shrimp and scallops (see picture) and everything was delicious. It is a little bit pricey for what you get but the way this place maintains its classiness almost doesn't make you feel so bad for spending lol. read more

I don't know what it is about this establishment, but the one thing that is consistent here is the lack of good service. I have been sat twice in the back "terrace" style area and have received the same poor service on both occasions. Several MONTHS apart. Was able to walk in without a reservation and be seated. To only be seated for 15 minutes before I had to ask a random server where our waiter was noting how a table across from us was getting waters etc before us and were seated AFTER us. The waiter then comes more than 5 mins later and says sorry ! do you want something to drink? And goes away for another 15+ minutes to return with drinks and never asked about whether or not we had questions about the menu or are ready to put in food (considering we've been here long enough to know the menu front and back). Throughout our time here other individuals brought out food etc and we were never checked on unless we had to go out our way to ask for refills etc. What appeared to be a manager and other staff from the front host stand were pretty focused on getting tables together for a party that was coming. We watched our waiter pour waters on that table 15-20 mins prior to their arrival which is interesting considering we had the complete opposite experience. Poor service from waiter staff. Tip: Make reservations or explore first come first serve seating at the bar I had dinner with a friend at BlueStone on a Friday evening during the holiday season of dinner gatherings. My friend made reservations which was a plus because the wait was pretty long. I overheard folks asking (i.e. 90 minutes for a party of 2). The entire restaurant was decked out with holiday decor. The staff was welcoming and checked us in quickly. We sat upstairs where there are two private rooms and a few open tables overlooking the restaurant below. It was a nice little area. Now to the food! We tried the bang bang shrimp and the Winter White Cosmo to kick off our evening. The shrimps was good. The cosmo was even better. The shrimp had a good kick of spice to it, more than I expected. The cosmo seemed to have the right amount of alcohol. We got there at 7 so we didn't make Happy Hour, however the menu seemed to be full of specials. I got the Wagyu Bolognese that was amazing. It had rigatoni pasta cooked al dente with parmesan and chives. It paired well with the complimentary bread. Yes, you get fresh bread and butter while you wait for your meal. My friend got the Beef Short Rib that she kindly let me try. The braised short ribs were tender and juicy. It was paired with mashed potatoes, mushrooms and onions. Overall the food was great. We had a good time catching up and enjoying our meal. The staff provided good service. We enjoyed our meal and conversation so much we didn't realize the time had flown by. Be basically shut the restaurant down (it was 10:45) and they didn't rush us to leave. The are a lot of options on the menu and it's so hard to pick! It was three of us and we arrived during happy hour and I was surprised to learn that happy hour was also in the dinning room and not just the bar. So we opted to split a few appetizers so we could try more than one dish. We ordered the fried green tomatoes, bang bang shrimp, and friend avocado. I really enjoyed the fried green tomatoes and the shrimp. The avocado was ok, the inside was still cold, but my friend really enjoyed that one. Then all three of us ordered soups. Two of us with French onion and one got the mix of cream of cram and Maryland crab. At first I was excited about my soup but then after trying to eat it, I was wondering why there were so many onions. It was making me a little sick tbh. So I asked my friend what her looked like. She had a normal amount of onions in hers. So I asked the server for more broth and showed her the soup. She said that was definitely not normal. I ended up taking about a 2 inch pile of onions out and adding the broth in. I still had a good amount of onions left. I've never seen anything like that. Definitely something missed in the kitchen. However the flavor was good, I just couldn't finish it after eating the equivalent of a whole onion in my soup. Overall I enjoyed my dinner and do want to come back to try different things. Was there for dinner with 3 friends. Unfortunately, the service was not very good. Two of us were excited to get the chicken and avocado salad, i.e., Cobb salad. Dude,you are not doing me a favor, waiting on me, its your job. Eat some humble pie. My Ceasar salad had no flavor. Little dressing. I ate the croutons. My crabcake tasted fishy and my rice was cold. I wrapped up my plate, but my salad wasn't eaten i took one bite of the crabcake. He didnt even ask if I liked it or was there something wrong. I put cash and credit card with the bill. I meant to put some towards his tip and some towards the bill. I got distracted, he didnt ask and assumed that the cash was solely for his tip. Pretty nice tip for attitude and arrogance.
