I dine here frequently however, I am not sure that I will be patronizing this establishment in the future. I have never had a problem with the crabs, they are always steamed to perfection and quite tasty. I ordered a dozen medium crabs (that was the only size they had at the time) 3 were over cooked and one was extremely light. They took the 3 overcooked back and provided replacements (40 mins later) however, refused to credit the light crab. I spoke with the crab manager Jake who declined my request and he gave me the info for an additional manager/event coordinator(because I was told that they did not have a manger on site in the evening). Needless to say she supported the decision of the crab manager not to provide an adjustment for the light crab. It is not actually the fact that the crab was light but the lack of customer consideration, flexibility, and accountability for one MEDIUM sized crab.....particularly as I continued to patronize the establishment by ordering an additional half dozen large crabs later that same evening after the incident. I went to Ocean Pride around 5 PM on a Friday and parking was pretty easy. I only got the steamed crabs but they were really good, nice and meaty. The orange crush tasted like it was made with squeezed oranges. Paid $100 for a dozen males, which I know can change, but that's what it was today. They've got plenty of seating and even outdoor space. They have happy hour but you have to sit at the bar. Our server was very pleasant and our drinks came out fast. Similar or even perhaps slightly larger indoor restaurant dining space on the other side of the venue that was relatively empty. First time, eating crabs here, and we were lucky enough to get Whales. Very well seasoned and came out piping hot. They were all 7.5 inches at least and somewhere 8 inches or large larger. The restaurant was decently full, though the food came out rather quick. The Cream of Crab soup was good, and had lots of crab meat in it. I will say it was a bit bland, but it was still tasty overall. We had one broiled and one fried crab cake - broiled was definitely the better option! The Baja Fish Tacos were a bit on the saltier side, and pretty standard. The Seafood Mac & Cheese was my favorite dish here, though I would suggest sharing it, as it is very filling. Came with my son for steamed crabs. Of our dozen crabs 3 were very light and our last crab was almost completely empty and had a foul smell. Since each crab cost over $10, we asked to take that last crab off the bill, they offered a replacement crab to be cooked but we were of our time and had soured on crabs after the empty spoiled one. We eat crabs regularly but our favorite crab house closed recently. We will not return to OceanPride again due to poor quality of crabs and lack of customer service. Ocean Pride was nice. You can tell it's the place to be for a nice happy hour. I had the Neptune Salad which was layered with shrimp, scallops, and crab meat. It also comes with bacon but I opted out and sub with blackened salmon. The salad was so big it could have been shared between two people. I ordered online and pick up and service was very quick. The host that wrapped my order made sure I had everything I needed. Ocean Pride is a staple in the Towson community so it's a little dated with an enclosed extension in the back of the restaurant. Enjoyed delicious steamed crabs at OP. More expensive than other places in the area at $10 a crab (6 large males were $59), but they were definitely large and meaty and hot and packed with seasoning. YUMMERS! The Baja Fish Tacos were pretty tasty, too. Blackened with a mango salsa, they hit the spot. We had great service by a nice red head (pretty sure she was not Deonte as listed on the check) and got to enjoy the bar area for seating. OP has a nice outside patio area now, but we noticed a lot of smokers so sat inside instead. Hot cig smoke on a hot Baltimore day wasn't on our Bingo card. read more

Ocean Pride is a staple in the Timonium area but can be hit or miss. I'm always a little wary when seeking a non crab option at a restaurant that caters to crab but I was extremely surprised by my salmon salad. The glaze on the salmon was phenomenal and the salmon itself was flaky and fresh. Never expected a salad here to be so good but would definitely reorder. All other food I've tried is ok and leaves a lot to be desired. Add in a noisy atmosphere, the fact that it's almost always hot in the restaurant , and it is not a place you necessarily want to sit and linger at for a relaxing dinner. read more

The place's ambiance was a tried and true Maryland seafood place. Don't let the wood and dated decor fool you. You are there for the food and maybe the bar. We sought it out because of the lunch menu on Baltimore County Restaurant Week. The MD 1/2 Crab/1/2 Cream of Crab soup and the Seafood were both great. The 1/2 and 1/2 was full of crab. The seafood bisque had an excellent flavor and 3 shrimp and a scallop. Doesn't sound like much but it was a small cup not a bowl. But the quality would make me get it again. Might have to up the size though. For entrees we got the french dip and the salmon salad. Both were good and plenty was left over for a second meal. The french dip was good roast beef on a sub roll with the dipping sauce. tasted good. The salmon salad was a large piece of salmon that was grilled and flavored well. It was on a bed of chopped boiled egg, cherry tomatos, onions and mesculun. It has a delicious balmic vinaigrette dressing. Desserts were lemon crunch cake and brownie sundae. The brownie sundae warm brownies with vanilla ice cream, whipped creamd and chocolate syrup drizzle. The lemon crunch crake was moist and good. I was so excited to go to Ocean Pride as I really enjoyed the crabs in the past. Yesterday, we got there at around 4:30pm, all tables were open and they turned us away and the couple behind us was turned away because they said all tables were reserved??? We asked if there was a big event because that might make sense but there wasn't! So they could have seated us, made some money and still had time to take previous reservations but they choose to turn 4 people away instead of making money. We won't go back. This place had so many red flags. I wanted to give it a chance despite our first impression but after our disappointing drinks arrived we decided to leave. When we arrived there wasn't anyone in the dining area part of the restaurant. It was 2pm but it was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. No music. Not an inviting atmosphere. A server greeted us asking if we'd called ahead to make a reservation. Which was a little strange because we were the only ones there. Very low energy for a server. After being seated we noticed that crab wasn't listed on the menu so we inquired. He told us only large size was available because that's what they have the most of. We ordered our drinks but when they arrived they left much to be desired. I made a remark about disliking the drink to our server, whom disregarded it without response. My espresso martini resembled sweet tea. And didn't taste as it should. My aunts strawberry lemonade was also the same shade of brown as my drink, and tasted like those store bought powder lemonade mix's. read more

This restaurant is so nearby our daughter's house that we just had to go see when we came here. We decided to be the first there for lunch and I am not sure that was a good idea. We chose not to eat in bar area but in the dining area. The tables were large (3 or 4 pushed together and covered by construction paper). They were at different levels and as would you might anticipate this ended with our grandson's drink going over side of table. Okay the serious part we had the dozen jumbo crab and a number of assorted entrees. There were mozzarella sticks, loaded potato skins, loaded nachos, and three sliders. More than enough for 4 adults and two children. Okay I am not familiar with how it's done here but down south if you are having seafood that is messy you get a bib, lots of lemon wipes, and napkins. We got lots of napkins but nothing else. Pretty disappointed with that and service. The waiter was far more interested in the two groups coming in after us to keep us up with drinks or check on everything. Terrible waiter but had to give mandatory 20% gratuity. The burgers were dry and no condiments so couldn't do much ourselves to change that. Yes we could have asked but based on table visits it was a moot point. Crabs were delicious and no complaints on that. He only brought one melted butter go figure. Who doesn't love crabs and a basic, no frills, no fuss crab house? Ocean pride is definitely a Maryland go to with delicious crabs. The place itself is not fancy but that's part of the charm. The parking lot is small so it can get nutty on a busy night and they only have a one stall bathroom which is annoying when all you want to do is wash the old bay off your hands. But the crabs come out hot and tasty with their version of old bay seasoning. It's not my favorite seasoning I've had but it's pretty tasty. Excellent crabs-very well seasoned and super service! Kevin, our server was awesome. He seemed to be very well known and loved by customers that frequent the establishment. Nearly everyone that came in Ocean Pride knew him by name and offered a warm greeting. Not only did we have delicious crabs, we also had rock fish bites, wings and a shrimp platter- all very good. The establishment- typical crab house, nothing fancy. However, they do have an outside area where customers can enjoy their food and brighter atmosphere.
