This is probably one of the worst crab places to go. The crabs were mostly empty and extremely over cooked! They were mushy and completely unappealing. The other issue is the customer service . The front cashier very nice and professional. Mackey the owner terrible. He wanted to over charge me for crabs that weren't the size I was paying for. Attitude was horrible and instead of give me xl and jumbo ! He have me xl and a small medium mix ! But called them jumbo. Still charged me for a large ... I guess anything for a dollar . I called in to order crabs from this place today at 1:01 pm for Memorial Day and ordered a dozen medium crabs for $75 dollars, they told me it would take 20 minutes, I didn't leave out with my crabs until 1:36 and it was no one else in the establishment. When I got them home I realized that the crab were in fact not medium crabs but small, as well as the crabs themselves were very empty and mostly filled with water. I then called to let the owner know that he gave me small crabs and not medium and his response was "they are Maryland medium crabs not Louisiana medium" and I responded "I would hope they are Maryland crabs I'm in Maryland why would I want Louisiana crabs that makes no sense but these aren't medium crabs at all they are small, for a fact I know they are smalls". Realizing the owners nonchalant attitude and seeing he wasn't going to do anything to try and fix the situation or even apologize for it I told him no worries I'll never buy crabs from this hole in the wall establishment again because he's getting over on his patrons and it's not good business what so ever. I CONTINUE TO GO TO CONRADS AND GET MY CRABS THEY ARE ALWAYS CONSISTENT, I only went with Mackey's because It was close to where I was at the moment. read more

I finally tried this place for the first time the other day. I was actually going to the Mackey's Caribbean place next door, to get those good ole beef patties, but they were sold out, I guess you have to get those early because they sell out fast. So I opted for soul food next door. I ordered the 5 chicken wing meal with Ole Bay seasoning, they were so good, I didn't get fries as the side, I opted for the macaroni salad which was pretty good, a little sweet for my liking but decent. The wings were so good, I went back on yesterday, reordered the same thing, but got the Seafood salad as my extra side, along with the macaroni salad. I did have to pay extra but it was cool. The wings again were great, but the seafood salad was a little on the salty side, had lots of ole bay in it, I took that and mixed it with the macaroni salad, and to me the combination together was perfect. read more

Still hold 5 stars years later. Stopped in here this past Sunday. Called in an order for the stuffed crab when I was about 5 minutes away from the spot. Even thought they were busy, when I arrived my food was done. I just had to wait for it to be bagged. The lady at the counter had awesome customer service. I will continue to support this business. I have been trying to get food from this black owned business for almost a year. I tried three times and each time was unsuccessful. First time they stated they were closing early. The second time they stated they weren't taking any orders outside of crabs and told me to call next time. The third time I tried to call, but the number didn't work so I pulled up anyways... and they said they aren't cooking anything, but crabs again and said nothing is wrong with their phone. I called the phone in front of them and they said oh the roof guy may have messed up the lines. The roof guy said no he hasn't touched anything. I have a 100 black owned list I wanted to try before the end of summer... this one will be removed from my list because it is always something each time I waste gas to drive there smh read more

We were craving crabs and decided to find a new place where we could go and pick them up to enjoy at home. We rolled the proverbial dice and Mackey's Crab House came up the winner. Although we had to travel from the west side to the east side of Bmore, the 30 trip was not in vain. Turns out this crab house has some of the tastiest steamed crustaceans in the Baltimore area. Upon arriving, we were at the corner of Moravia and Belair Rd traveling east on Moravia and our GPS said we were here, but we didn't see the business on either corner. Turns out it was located on Sanner Ave., a street that is, how can l describe, sorta off to the side of Moravia Rd. Once we crossed Belair Rd on Moravia, a quick look to the right showed the red colored building that was Mackey's. We parked on the street and went down a flight of stairs, which served as the entrance to Mackey's as well as a home, but a small sidewalk to the side took use directly to the business. There were folks sitting outside and some inside when we arrived. The outside and inside reminded me of a 1970's Baltimore corner store with its high counter that even now l had to stand on my toes to place the order. The lady was super pleasant. Since l didn't want to go all out and order an expensive dozen as this was my first time here, l decided to go with a half bushel of small/mediums female/males mixed for $75. If they didn't work out, l could give them away to someone who didn't have the knowledge to know what a good or bad crab tasted like. Anywhoo... not a bad deal and turns out someone was late picking up their order and we were offered it so no wait, plus the crabs were still popping hot! As we paid (they accept cash and plastic) we were given a free piece of craft paper to eat our crabs on (I was impressed). As we made our way back west, the aroma of those crabs was calling, so as soon as we go home, l rushed to the yard, spread out my paper and proceeded to dump crabs out and there were a few cobs of corn in the mix as well ( keep impressing me why don't you?). As l pulled apart the shell of my first one, and proceeded to eat the wonderful, sweet meat l had fallen in love. The seasoning was not your traditional spicy, salty blend, but more of a peppery spice blend with what seemed like a buttery coating, which was fine by me. I didn't experience the burning of the tissue on the insides of my mouth and no breakout due to a highly spiced seasoning. The crabs were a true mix, but were heavy and full of sweet meat complemented by that wonderful seasoning. I enjoyed my purchase and will def be back to Mackey's. read more

Mackey's has the juiciest of the takeout crab houses that I've tried so far. They even remained juicy after being re-heated in the microwave, which is not usually the case. The prices were very reasonable and they don't short you on the sizes. I bought the large and when I got home the hubby had thought I bought XL! The males were sweet and had medium density. Note that Mackey's is a very small footprint and no parking. The little alley way gets backed up around dinner time and can be hard to navigate. Overall pretty delicious, I'll be back. read more

I was originally anticipating buying a half bushel but they weren't offering that when I went. It didn't matter in the end, I definitely got my money's worth. The large crabs were LARGE. Definitely the largest I've had in a while. They were super heavy and cooked perfectly! 10/10 will definitely be ordering my next order of crabs from them. This was my second time ordering from here. My first visit I came inside the store ordered a special of a dozen-and-a-half medium females. The crabs were hot ,heavily seasoned and tasty. Good customer service in person and over phone. Second time I ordered was last night.. I ordered a half-dozen large females and a lake trout platter with fries . Customer service great both times I ordered. Mr Mackey even called himself to let me know there were no western fries on menu on regular. Back to the food! The crabs however seemed to be resteamed ..... They did not taste like my first time here. The seasoning was mushy on top of the crabs and didnt really taste like much. I ate them though. Blake's has always been my go to but after trying Mackey's i will now be getting my crabs from them. The crabs were heavy, seasoned well, and juicy. The only problem I had was the long wait but it was definitely worth it. You can tell by the influx of customers that the crabs and the food here is good. These crabs were pretty darn good. We got a dozen of the large crabs and ate half one day and half after our drive back to NJ cold. There is NO seating so just call ahead and take it to go. Our crabs took forty minutes so we tried to kill time in this sketchy part of town. I ordered through Uber Eats and decided to order from this place because of the great reviews. The food was just average, I got the seafood delight which included 1 crab cake, 1 catfish, 1 steak fish, a half pound of shrimp and potato's. I thought this was a good deal! The only thing that I enjoyed were the shrimp, they were a decent size & tasted great. My crab cake was hard (I threw it away) and my fish was just ok. Most of the great reviews that I read were related to the crabs. So, I will try out this place again but the next time I will just get crabs or shrimp. read more

Customer service is as unprofessional and ignorant as you can get. while waiting for an order. i was told 10mins, 15mins later another customer comes. the woman at the front that was supposed to check on my order, after taking an order on the phone, proceeds to take care of the woman and carry on a conversation. after another 5mins, i asked what is going on with my order. she answers that "i'm taking care of a customer" causing the customer to make a comment and her answer is " i don't pay them no mind ". after she finally goes back there, wouldn't you know it, my order was ready. the place is unclean, under construction and being painted while people have to wait for their food. never will go i there again, under any circumstances. read more

Placed an order for 2 meals at 4:41 pm through Doordash. My food arrived at 6:15 barely warm. and missing one whole meal. When I tried every number I could find to call the establishment I repeatedly got no answer and the voicemail is full. Also tried to go through door dash to review and the app is down.
