    Excellent crabs!!
    Helene Q.

Best crabs all season! Every single crab was full, seasoned perfectly, lots of mustard & very sweet. We got a half a bushel of mediums this passed Sunday, called it in the day before. The crabs were ready on time & cooked perfectly. Not one single dud. Service was excellent, the place was clean & the folks were great. You've got our business!! Thank you so much!!

I got a dozen small males for only $25, they were huge for being categorized as smalls, you'd think they were more so mediums or even small larges.

Our server was the bartender and she was pretty attentive. I ordered an ice pick to drink (vodka and tea). There was hardly any vodka in it lol. White claw flavors are limited - only black cherry and lime. Fortunately they have surfside tea. I ordered hush puppies which were delicious, but they were served with a little container of cold butter spread? I would have thought they'd serve with melted butter. I also got an order of wings and they weren't that great. So much breading, not really hot, and not cooked crispy like I asked. Prices were very reasonable though. Overall it wasn't a bad experience, but nothing amazing.

Huge tv's hugged the upper walls, grabbing the attention of patrons. Honestly, I was bored by being pummeled with sports. The young lady behind the bar said to sit anywhere, all there were was the hightops and bar stools, we prefer a low table, there were none, maybe way in the back where no one was seated. She brought over the 2-sided menus, I asked what they do well here, as it was our first visit. She made her recommendations, and my husband got the cheesesteak sub with French fries (upcharge). I ordered the chicken wings with ranch and celery (8 for $10.95), not bad! She said they were good here, also the hamburgers , I can't remember what else they do well, other than the crab cake. We did not order anything with alcohol, so I am at a loss there. They do have beer on tap and bottles. The cheesesteak was good, fresh roll and tasty meat. The fries were as expected, nothing outstanding. Just good for bar food. My chicken wings were not puny, just normal size and market value, had them made to be mild. This came with celery (quite fresh and crunchy), the ranch was poured off into a plastic cup. Both orders came in plastic baskets, and a paper plate for bone discard. Plenty of napkins. Have to hand it to them, in-between sports, they played music and they sure do have a kicking stereo system, really great quality. It was a welcome break. She did visit once to make sure all was Ok and any needs. All was fine. The bill came , I checked it and gave her my cc, she returned and the bill was altered and the price of the cheesesteak went up $3! Honestly, I did not say anything or check the bill against the menu, which was put away. I just chalked it up as an oversight on the server's part. She did not say anything about the price adjustment either. I can understand a mistake in the charge. Just say something. I guess I am overreacting at this point. Sigh.

Big. Long. Sigh…read more This review PAINS me because I had such high expectations and wasn't prepared for what I received. Although all hopes aren't lost for this location, it's going to take a little while before I give them another chance. I follow a quite large figure in the food reviewing community and he visited the Pappas Seafood Center. This location has been here for about a year. I didn't rush to go, but as soon as I saw this person's very highly rated review with delicious photos to match, I knew what I was going to eat for dinner. I had a taste for seafood and when I saw the seafood eggrolls on the reviewer's page, they looked so fresh and crispy. Not overtly so. But they looked good. So, that's what I decided to get, along with a side of hush puppies. To note: this is not a sit down restaurant. It's a carry-out and I believe a distribution center. It's a rather large building, so I'm assuming that they make and ship crab cakes and other items, while also accommodating walk-in customers. I called my order in. The person said it would be 20 minutes. I arrived a bit early, so I waited in my car for a bit. There's no where to sit inside, so if you walked to this place, you'd just have to stand somewhere. Anyhoo, after twenty minutes, I walked in. The place looked clean and well lit. They have an attractive glass case that displayed cold items like salads and doubled eggs. The young lady at the counter told me it would be a few more minutes before my order was done. She was nice, so no complaints with customer service. My order soon came out and I headed home. As I drove home, I was super excited because the food honestly smelled good through the stapled paper bag! Keep in mind that I live 5 minutes from this place. When I sat down to eat, I took the contents out the bag. The first thing I took out was the hush puppies. They were in a cup, no big deal, BUT THEY WEREN'T HOT! Like, at all. Even further, some were quite raw on the inside. The batter was honestly good! I ended up eating just the crispy outer layers. I was intensely disappointed in those. Then...the egg rolls. When I opened the container, I saw two halved VERY browned eggrolls. They almost seemed as if they were pan fried as opposed to deep fried (some sides were burnt while other sides were normal). They came with two sauces, one was a mustard sauce, the other a sweet vinegary sauce. Neither was super amazing, but the mustard one was the better of the two. The stuffing inside consisted of a crab mixture and shrimp. It unfortunately did not taste fresh. More like something that was made a few days beforehand. Maybe it was because it was overcooked? The green onion was overpowering and the whole thing tasted like a sweet, burnt eggroll. I really tried to finish it. I ended up eating the filling, and discarded the roll wrapper, along with the raw batter from the hush puppies (pictures included). I spent about $21 dollars for this meal. I waited a few days before writing this review to make sure it wasn't based off of raw emotion alone, but a fair assessment of quality and value, which this meal lacked both. Pappas really does have great crab cakes and sides (look for my the Taylor Avenue review). Maybe it was an off day, but one off day can put off a customer for a good long while.

We've been going to bills for years and not only have we never had a truly bad experience, but even the once or twice where a couple of the crabs weren't perfect when we contacted the store they absolutely made it right. Don't listen to all these one star reviews. Loyal customers, know that Bill's is high-quality anconsistent. Bill's seafood and iconic. Legendary. Irreplaceable. If you're looking for fresh steamed crabs then this is the place to go. Honestly I would choose bills over almost any other local crab shack for crabs to go. The steamed shrimp are decent but not as fantastic as the crabs. If you're getting crabs here then you might as well get the rest of your items as well, but I wouldn't go here if I was only ordering shrimp. They have plenty of frozen selections as well as package goods, and carry a wide selection of J.O. Products. Sadly they don't seem to carry Hank's hot sauces anymore.... :( I'll be honest, I haven't gotten crabcakes or crab imperial here, but I can't imagine they wouldn't be good. I simply don't waste my time on them because I always get steamed crabs. If I haven't made it clear, this is the place to go for steamed crabs. And if you go here for any reason then you should be getting steamed crabs. Anything else is just something on the side.

We had to wait five minutes on a Thursday afternoon, only because there was a very large group taking up an entire room. The hostess and our server Riyah (forgive me if I spell her name wrong) were both pleasant and attentive. For appetizers we shared Fried Calamari, cooked perfectly, not anywhere near the rubber bands you get at some places. We also shared hush puppies with hot honey sauce. Hot honey sauce seemed odd to us to have with hush puppies, so we had it on the side, along with powdered sugar. What a pleasant surprise. Cooked to perfection, soft with a crisp outside. Nicely done. For main course I had fried oysters, something not often found where I used to live. Fried well, not a hint of grease with good cocktail sauce along with fries and Cole slaw, sweet with just enough celery seed. My wife had a half dozen large crabs (males) and she was in heaven. Done well with old bay...I know to bring a book, because she takes her time savoring these well done Maryland Blues. The manager stopped by to chat and he was a pleasant personable fellow. Another note, considering the kitchen was taxed with a large group luncheon, our meals were not delayed. This is a good sign when the restaurant is busy. Recommended!
