The blackened salmon, despite its look, was nice and moist and deliciously seasoned. Underneath the salmon was the corn medley which was just ok - it didn't really add anything and I wish it had more corn. The deviled eggs with crab were yummy, the shrimp cocktail was just ok (I don't think you can get much flare with those), the crab dip *drool* scrumptious, and not pictured is the Mac n cheese which was cheesy and tuna and the Cadillac margarita - I love a good caddy and theirs made my top 5 list! DESSERT DESSERT DESSERT!!! Great dessert menu. This is a new go to stop after dinner for dessert. They also have rotating specials. On my last visit they had a snickerdoodle tres leche cake that was soooo good! I would only say that the cake slicing is not so equitable, as two slices of the same cake were vastly different in size---- make them both giant! Especially for the pricing. We celebrated my daughter's birthday tonight and Michael's is her favorite local restaurant. The restaurant is clean and spacious and a good spot for a cocktail or pint. Their bar is classy and central in the restaurant. Our service tonight was good but sporadic resulting in a 2hr dining. Not horrible and our drinks were always filled. Our meals consisted of the following: I ordered the Rockfish Nicholas which was a 7/10. Had the dish had more of of the lemon sauce it would have been a solid 9. That sauce was great but I think the Jasmine rice absorbed what little provided. Ribs were a little overcooked but had good flavor, 7/10. Tasty. Cream of Crab wasn't bad and had a good amount of crab, 7/10. Tuna bowl was flavorful and my daughter selected to scratch the avocado, 8/10. This is her go to dish. Clams Casino small and you get 5 on a plate of rock salt. They were very spicy and just average, 6/10. Calamari was terrific. The platter was small but delicious accompanied by banana peppers and jalapeños. 9/10. Drinks were on point and OBTW, we sat next to their giant bar. 10/10. All in all a nice night but I feel the menu pricing is inflated. I don't have to go back for dinner but certainly will for some drinks and an app @ the bar. read more

Y'all know, I love this place! I decided to take myself on a solo lunch date... I haven't done that at Michael's in a while and it was the perfect day to do it. I was able to walk right in and grab a seat at the bar, which is what I wanted. I like my regular meals, my waiter mentioned this grilled cheese sandwich and I couldn't resist. I also had the crab deviled eggs, but I ate them so fast and forgot to take a picture sorry lol the sandwich was a lot heavier than I thought. We decided to have Brunch at Michael's today. Brunch stops on Saturday at 3pm. Entering we are always greeted. There were available seats almost anywhere but our choice was bar seating. The restaurant was settled and quiet like I like it. Having a conversation at the bar was not challenging at the bar. The bartender was attentive and easy going. We ordered the Chicken and Waffles w/NITRO COLD BREW ESPRESSOTINI and Get him to the Greek omelette with POME PALMOA. The food seemed to take a little time to get to us. Lots of parking and easy location. Beautifully decorated. Has indoor and outdoor seating that is screened in (no bugs). Nice bar area with lots of TVs. Service was good. Attentive and accommodating. Got a Sidecar (served on ice - not typical) and a filthy martini that was on menu. Both okay. Sidecar was tasty, but ice melted and watered it down too much. Got wings that were great! We ordered the crab dip appetizer and each got a cheeseburger with fries. My friend had a Diet Coke, and I had a tea. The food itself was delicious--no complaints there. However, the service was where things dipped. We had to flag down our waitress for drink refills, for boxes, and again for the check. It felt like we were being forgotten, and it definitely slowed things down more than necessary. Then came the bill--$80 for lunch for two. Yikes! The crab dip alone was $20 (which we didn't realize until after), and while it was tasty, it wasn't that memorable. We also noticed a 20% tip was automatically included... which felt odd for just a party of two. We both usually tip well, but the service didn't exactly earn that kind of gratuity this time around. We might think twice before coming back for a casual lunch. Great food, but the pricing and service left us a bit disappointed. read more

Just visited the Michael's in White Marsh for Happy Hour. The place is clean, the bathrooms are spotless, and the food was really good. The vibe was just a little more laid-back compared to the Timonium location. The bartenders were cool, just not super high-energy, so we had to bring our own vibe to the bar lol. We did send a couple drinks back, the margarita was a bit bitter for me--but they explained they use fresh lemon juice, so that's really just a preference thing. Food-wise, everything hit. I had the chicken wings, potato wedges, coconut shrimp (very good), mini burgers (very good), and the BBQ flatbread pizza (also very good). Overall, it's still a solid spot. The energy was just a little chill that day. I'm planning to come back during a football game because they've got great TVs, and I feel like the vibe will be much livelier then. read more

My friends and I had an awesome dinner at Michael's. This is a new building and the interior is stunningly decorated. We also loved our server. Overall, I would highly recommend this place! I love a restaurant that has mocktails that are actually delicious, so the earned some points right off the bat. Service was a little slow from the kitchen, but it was a Friday night at prime time. All 7 of us enjoyed our meals, which is commendable. I got their ahi tuna wrap and it was super flavorful and fresh. I visited this location of Michael's for the first time and was impressed by the beautiful decor, friendly staff, and incredible aromas--I could smell the truffle as soon as I walked in. The crab dip was absolutely delicious from beginning to end, and the crostini it came with was one of the best I've ever had--I even ordered more just because it was that good. The eggs with my brisket would've been better with less BBQ sauce. It was a bit unusual, but I gave it a shot. My husband had the chorizo and corned beef hash with sunny side up eggs and said it was really good. My Appletini wasn't great, especially at $15, but now I know for next time. Our server--whose name I unfortunately don't remember--was very attentive and transparent. She let us know that the tip was already included because it was brunch, but I still left her a little extra because she was excellent. Overall, I don't have any complaints. This review is about a year overdue but the experience still stings. We decided to have a post funeral luncheon (my mother's). My cousin made the arrangements and did not understand the more people were coming than she reserved. I admit that was on her, after we were seated I noticed the waitress seemed very aggravated so I told her I was sorry more people are here but it's a good group your going to make money and my mom just died so I'm just trying to get through the day. She walked away... my table had empty drinks and no food, I had to chase down a server for a glass of wine. Then I noticed the manager staring at us from afar but never came to ask if we needed anything. I was in the service industry for 15 years, if the staff needs help the management jumps in to serve. That didn't happen. I called to speak with the manager about the experience, this was his opportunity to redeem himself, offer dinner on him or even a glass of wine if I decided to come back, all I got was "I will ask the server her side of the story" I've still been bothered by this (obviously) as I said, I was in the industry and great at my job so this was just horrifying. I needed to relax that day and not be worried if my friends and family had enough, my husband and I didn't even eat the appetizers so there would be enough for the table (the appetizers were supposed to keep being replenished per our request). It was not what I needed that day or the rest of the family and friends, none of them have gone back and neither have I. The serve should have been fired for walking away while I was begging her to take the tables drink order. All I remember is her long blond ponytail and glasses, she was unapologetic and rude. read more

She wasn't dressed in any way that would indicate that she worked there. The servers were wearing jerseys, and she was in a t-shirt. We sat at a table and were given dinner menus; however, brunch was going on. We were told we needed to wait about fifteen minutes to order dinner. Why would you seat us with dinner menus then? I don't mind spending money, but if you are charging Ruth's Chris prices, you need to step up the service. I get better service at a fast-food place. I won't be back anytime soon. read more

Nice place but I've been there 3 times now and haven't been impressed with the food. Menu looks good and sounds good. You do not get what you expect. Wedge salad with Bavette steak is $38. Looks delicious on their website. Waste of money in reality. They give you 4 thick chunks of over-charred meat that does not even remotely resemble the beautifully perfectly cooked thin sliced pieces in the photo. It was a challenge to cut even with a steak knife and was like chewing rubber. Highly disappointed. read more

I'm not sure what was in the drink that melted and gave a coffee taste, but it was very good. Pub Wings: 6/10 I forgot the name of the yellow sauce it the wings were just okay. Brisket hash: 3/10 the potatoes and eggs came out perfect, but quarrels with the meal is how tough and crunchy the brisket was. The barbecue sauce the brisket has is flavorful but can't compensate enough. Eggs with cheese: 0/10 scrambled no seasoning and 2 slices of cheese were tossed on top. I'm giving 3 stars because all thought my brisket was terrible, customer service and the rest of my meal was still decent. The customer service was really the saving grace. read more

Michael's Cafe is a neighborhood favorite. It's a little off the beaten path, but definitely worth the trip. Parking is plentiful and FREE. Upon entry, you'll be greeted by a huge, nicely appointed bar area. More formal seating is also available. Today, I stopped in for happy hour, which is from 3PM to 6PM. Quite a few food and drinks choices. I settled on a Maryland Mule (think Moscow Mule with Sagamore whiskey instead of vodka) to quench my thirst and Burger Sliders with fries and Dynamite Shrimp to satisfy my appetite. First the good. We had been to the Timonium location several times before but never the White Marsh location. The ambiance was good, service lovely, and food delicious. We were both pleased with our meals. Mine was the Pesto Pasta (delicious) and the other was the club sandwich (finished the whole thing). Because we were stuffed, we ordered dessert to go. BIG MISTAKE. Michael and friends should be ashamed for charging us nearly $30 and sending us home with two of the driest pieces of cake we've had in a very long time. I had the Smith Island Cake and the other was the Brookie. I had to pour half and half on mine to salvage it and even then I didn't want to eat it all. Had I been in the restaurant, I would have sent it right back...something I hate doing. I feel like a lot of restaurants nowadays know what they are doing by sending stale food home, and I wonder if Michael's did it to us tonight. We visited Michael's to celebrate a friend's 50th birthday. The food overall was fine. Two of us ordered the tuna bowl, which was good. Our friend had the seafood club, which was huge and looked appealing, while another in our group ordered the lobster roll and said it was good. However, I cannot give a positive rating because the experience was overshadowed by the behavior of the manager. As the designated driver, I wasn't drinking alcohol and instead ordered from the mocktail menu. My first drink, the Tickled Pink, was fine, though heavy on grapefruit flavor, so for my second round I decided to try the Pellinore Punch. Unfortunately, it tasted terrible. The others at my table tried it as well and all agreed it was unpleasant. When our server returned, I let her know I couldn't drink the punch, and she kindly offered to check with the manager about removing it from the bill since I had barely touched it. She later returned to say the manager refused because of "the way it is made," though that explanation made little sense to me. We decided not to argue and continued enjoying our meal. Then, out of nowhere, the manager came to our table and abruptly placed a new Pellinore Punch in front of me, asking me to taste it. The situation felt awkward and embarrassing, but I reluctantly took a sip and explained that I still didn't like it. Others at the table confirmed they had also tasted the original and disliked it. The manager responded that there was "nothing wrong with the drink" and that it must just be my personal taste. She even offered the replacement drink to others at the table, who all declined, before marching away. I have never experienced anything like this before -- it was rude, embarrassing, and unprofessional. Sadly, this interaction has ruined Michael's for me, and I am unlikely to return. read more

This was an absolutely delicious meal! I've had my eye on this place for a while, and I finally got to try it for a family dinner with my parents. We came in on a late Saturday afternoon and were seated immediately. Our server was SO kind and attentive. He gave gave us the time we needed to make decisions (but still checked in often) and was proactive in his service, giving us refills on water before we were completely empty and bringing to-go boxes for dishes that had gone untouched without us asking for them. I tried one of their specialty cocktails, the "Brand New Cadillac Margarita," and I really enjoyed it! I did not expect it to be the size of my head, but I wasn't complaining. It was just a basic margarita, but it was nice to sip on throughout our dinner. We started with the crab dip and grilled octopus appetizers, and both were delicious. The crab dip didn't have an abundance of crab meat in it, but the overall flavor and texture made up for the crab meat I'd normally be missing. It also came with baguette slices that were basically like mini garlic breads, which is enough to bring me over alone. The octopus was well-cooked (not rubbery at all!) and came with a light and fresh salsa verde. I tasted a lot of cilantro in the salsa verde, so if you are a cilantro hater, I would not recommend that dish. For my entree, I chose the Rockfish Nicholas, which came with pan-seared rockfish over jasmine rice and a lemon beurre blanc sauce. This was SO good! The rockfish was juicy and flaky, the rice was nice and fluffy, and the lemon beurre blanc was creamy and so flavorful. The lemon was just right so that it brightened up the dish, but wasn't an overwhelming flavor. It also came with crispy leeks, which I really think added that extra something and made it even better. I didn't get to try much of either the salmon or shrimp & grits, but both of my parents loved their respective meals. Everything was cooked well, flavorful, and overall absolutely delicious. We were all so stuffed after dinner, otherwise I would have gone for dessert. This is definitely a place I'd love to visit again, so I look forward to trying the dessert menu in the future! read more
