Steamed Shrimp.

Good food, service, ain't the beer cold. A nice neighborhood bar. A friendly place. I will be back.

A nice little spot tucked away on the corner. I have drove past for years and never knew what to expect. There are two areas, a bar and a dining area. When we walked in wasn't sure I would feel welcomed. But was put at ease, had several diners saying hi and making conversation. Was able to seat ourselves and was immediately greeted and served. Food prices are ok and the food was ok. Might try to come back.

Interesting place! Oddly brightly lit yet still felt like dive-bar with what seems to be alot of regulars. But not alot of smiles- staff was efficient but dour, patrons seemed to be somewhat down older folks sipping bottled beers. Smiles were had when I joked with folks a little, but overall mood was downer. No music playing either- made it oddly quiet. A few nice beers on tap, nothing too fancy - not a place for local IPAs, but a draft Yuengling hit the spot. Food wise - grilled prime rib was juice, tender, tasty. Mashed potatoes, gravy- tasty but clearly from box. Green beans with onion and bacon canned as well, but tasty. Wifey had fried shrimp, cole slaw, pickled beets - all good but all Sysco-type food service items. Prices were good - twenty bucks for prime rib, 15 for shrimp - so can't complain too much! All in all an adequate meal in a somewhat depressing setting! Think of decent quality retirement community food in a faded 80s fern bar.

Oyster Po Boy by BaltimorePhotographer.com, happily eaten.

Well folks, I have enjoyed this place since we held our wedding reception there, 22 years ago! (It…read morewas still known as Sander's Corner back then.) We moved to AZ 7 years ago and quickly learned that there is no such thing as a good crabcake outside of Maryland. A few years after our wedding, the restaurant changed hands and became McFaul's Ironhorse Tavern. Initially, we were a bit concerned but that concern proved to be unfounded! With every trip back to MD, we always tried to stop into McFauls for - yup, a Maryland Crabcake (broiled), an ear or two of MD sweet corn and a cold Natty Boh! (My Dad used to work for National Brewing Co., so the beer choice was nostalgic, but honest! There is NO Natty Boh west of the Mississippi!) Anyway, nostalgia played a role in our choice of dining at McFaul's - but only ever so slightly! Until last night! We arrived at 5:30pm and had our choice of seating. It was a bit too warm to dine outside, so we chose a table for four near the fireplace. Two other tables were being served and the entire restaurant had not hit it's peak customer load! I settled in for my latest crabcake dinner. I chose the single crab cake with two sides. (Dinner: $35.00) but I am getting ahead of myself. Service was slow, waters only came right out and then the wait began. 10 minutes later, our server arrived to take our drink order. Of course, I ordered a can of Natty Boh. I also asked for a glass for my beer. 8 minutes later, the beer arrived (no glass.) Other drinks wandered in, but still no glass for the beer. I drank my water (which was also served in a beer-type glass) and waited. Our server returned to take our dinner order (still no glass!) Orders now placed and my can of Boh still needing a glass, I finished my water and poured (properly, of course) my Natty Boh into my empty, but still cold water glass. I enjoyed the first sip! Ahhhhh! Table talk proceeded and I started to dream of my cake! (BTW - no choice of broiled or fried!) Our server returned with a menu adjustment for one of our guests - kitchen was out of something. Oh yeah, my frosted glass finally arrived. (Too late!) Here's the sad part... our dinners were just so so. My small crabcake was surronded by about 25 fries and a mini Caeser's Salad. I had asked for two cups of cocktail sauce - I received one cocktail sauce and one tarter sauce. I have seen bigger crabcakes in the frozen food section of Giant Food. I was even served a cake twice as large at Camden Yards - of all places - for $28.00! One of our guests that ordered Fish & Chips received a full plate Caeser's Salad and about 50-60 fries (for way less money!) Here's my rap... I was not even mildly impressed by our food, service or ambiance! My, how the mighty have fallen. I will now remove McFaul's (with great sadness) from my "Must Visit When in MD" list! Reasons are as above, but for those that don't like to read all the dastardly details - Mediocre Food, Slow Unattentive Service, and A Tavern Ambiance that sorely needs a refresh! Sorry Folks, but Baltimore has WAY better to offer! SMH!

We ended up parking in the neighborhood across the street. There is a busy Happy Hour going on around 5:30 which is great. The beer selection was varied and included some local options. They also have a wide selection of beer on tap and in bottles and cans. I was not expecting that. The food menu was also much larger than I would have expected. They have just about everything here. I had the chicken quesadilla (it came with salsa and sour cream) and my husband had the cheesesteak special which was only $6! All of the prices on the menu were very reasonable. We also had the pretzel bite which were good if not a little greasy. The quesadilla and cheesesteak were really good! Service at the bar was fast and friendly. Food and drinks that's what we're here for! Ofc I had to get wings. I ordered 10 Spicy BBQ fried hard and boy were they crispy! I might do a different flavor as the Spicy BBQ wasn't my favorite but it was still enjoyable. Wasn't tooo spicy or sweet I just didn't care for the flavor that's all! The celery tasted fresh and not like an afterthought with most places. I also ordered 2 drinks They were both spicy margaritas. She made the first one the traditional way but it tasted a little off/sour. The jalapeños was definitely pushing through. The second time she did a non traditional spicy marg and it was ALOT better, adding just a splash of hot sauce did the exact trick I was looking for. I was alone for this outing but I didn't feel alone. There were lots of people, staff was pretty friendly and I enjoyed my food/drinks overall. Will definitely be coming back for more Sunday football! I only have 3 stars because my card was charged about 4 times when using the QR code to pay. So far I had 2 reversals that happened immediately but the 3rd reversal hasn't happened yet. Not sure why I was charged multiple times but the bartender assured me it should correct itself and if it doesn't to call and come back which I'm hoping wouldn't need too but nonetheless I would either tap your card directly or use cash.

This is Puerto Rican pitorro, also known as ron cañita, made with care and intention rather than gimmickry. Many local liquor stores now carry the brand, and it is well worth picking up a bottle, but visiting the distillery is an experience in itself. The founder is a fellow Puerto Rican born retired military member, a background I share, and like me, he has put down roots in Maryland. That story is reflected clearly in the brand's own framing, "Puerto Rican born, Maryland made." The space feels grounded and unpretentious, and that sensibility carries through to the hospitality. We arrived late on a Saturday and were still welcomed warmly, never rushed. We were taken care of by the founder's daughter, who was exceptionally kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. She guided us through a flight that included the traditional pitorro, almond, pineapple, coffee, coconut chai, and several seasonal offerings. The flavors were thoughtful and well balanced; even the infused expressions retained a clear rum backbone rather than drifting into novelty. We enjoyed them enough to leave with several bottles. This is artisanal pitorro done right, rooted in Puerto Rican tradition and confidently made in Maryland. Buying it locally is convenient, but going to the distillery is where the people, the story, and the spirit fully come together.
