Our backyard experience with 2 dozen steamed female crabs from Capt. Harry's
    Sam S.

We were visiting friends who recently moved to Maryland for some housewarming and we insisted that they get down and dirty with some crabs (not those crabs, guys) as they were now MD residents. Yelp led us to Captain Harry's as the closest location, although after having gorged ourselves on their crustaceans, we would have definitely traveled further to get our hands (and mouths) on those babies. We placed an order for 2 dozen steamed female crabs (mixed sizes) as the females were significantly cheaper than the males, at $35 for 2 dozen. We were a little nervous ordering females, being from South Jersey near the shore, and in our experiences the females can run small and short on meat. This was absolutely not the case with our order from Captain Harry's. The females were surprisingly and over-satisfyingly meaty and filling. We actually were all discussing how much bigger the males could possibly be and that we didn't think we could even finish 2 dozen males (and we were 2 women and 2 men in our 20s and 30s.) They were seasoned just right and we were all licking our fingers between breaking open crabs just to savor the spices. We're driving back up to our home in Philadelphia as I write this review and we're still talking about the crabs! I had to write a review for Capt. Harry's as we were raving in the car about it and I have to say we all absolutely recommend treating yourselves or your guests (or us) to some crabs from this little local shack. You won't regret it.

Ex large size .......$75 per DZ Jumbo size ..........$90 per DZ That is what I order this week ,sounds good ! Service so far is good , also they accept all major credit card too ! If you want more jumbo size crabs ,give couple days for them to save for you ! Inside the store nice and clean ,not too big store ,you can see everything clearly !

Excellent crabs and corn! Workers are honest and friendly. Definitely worth going to.

Gave this small crab house a try and i'm glad I did. Very reasonable prices for very good quality crabs. Will be returning.

I suspect Captain Jim runs his ships all the same, no matter where they are located, so I'll put it here - but if the Captain is still in the same spot next year, I'll start the new Yelp page then. My grandfather lived in Dundalk all his life, and he was a tremendously important person in my life. He passed some time ago and is buried at... one of those cemeteries on German Hill, right across the street from Captain Jim's. I like to visit him on his birthday, and Christmas if I have the chance. This year would have been his 99th birthday. I put a box of Butterfinger candies on his headstone because they were his favorite, and decided that I would get some steamed crabs in his honor because they were also one of his favorite things (and I had the money). We were originally going to get the crabs somewhere else, but figured, 'hey, Captain Jim's is right here. Why not give them a try?' We weren't disappointed. It took about 20 minutes for them to freshly steam 3 dozen small males, and a pound of shrimp for us. It wasn't much more than $50 (which is what I had on hand from my grandmother, who has been without my grandfather for at least 15 years now). The scent of the (I'm guessing) J.O2 seasoning filled our van, and the steam from the crabs actually fogged our windows. I spent about 8 hours picking crabs. I find the activity so calming, and could do it all the time if my arthritic elbows and shoulders didn't throw an absolute fit the next day. The crabs were delicious and made me happy, and isn't that the point? We got two different butters to dip the crab in, but that's not really my thing. My boyfriend said that the plain butter tasted woody, and he didn't like that, but the garlic butter was a hit and he has used the leftover butter to make at least one dinner so far. The shrimp were lovely, and came with cocktail sauce, and steamed onions because what's the point of steamed shrimp if not to get some onions as well? I think we did right by my grandfather. Would recommend

Geresbeck's has the best sales in town when it comes to seafood. The shrimp is always cheap & they steam on site. On a recent visit while waiting for my shrimp to be steamed, I took a walk around the market to see what else I could buy. Geresbeck's has a great speciality ice cream section. They had my favorite Taharka Brother's honey graham ice cream and some other tasty choices. I ended up in the bakery department and saw SO MANY delicious looking baked goods from a peanut butter Boston crème cake to banana pudding parfaits to mini cheesecakes. Their doughnuts are huge and made with the love of someone that loves to bake. I took quite a bit of photos showcasing their selections. As I walked through the store, I started to get a little hungry for a snack. I came back around to the deli/hot foods department and saw a mountain of tasty looking western fries. Now, western fries are extremely popular in Baltimore and the surrounding counties. I've had my share of western fries from the center of the city, to Brass Hen in Eastpoint mall, to even Royal Farms. All were delicious, BUT THESE FRIES WERE ABSOLUTE LOVE AT FIRST BITE!!! They were crunchy like a piece of fried chicken and tender inside like a fluffy baked potato. Omg, I can taste them right now. They were so, so amazingly yummy. If you love potatoes, or any variation of fries, you'd LOVE these. I actually may go back very soon for a fix. I didn't need salt, pepper, ketchup, NOTHING. Now, for my only gripe about Geresbeck's is that I wouldn't necessarily buy goods outside of the seafood, bakery or specialty items. I found that other items in the store, unless on sale, are higher priced than other grocery stores. But they have to counterbalance that with the affordable seafood prices, right? Anyways, if you're in the area, stop by and pick you up some delicious doughnuts and western fries while you're there. Geresbeck's is a piece of nostalgia that will make you feel like you were back in a time when everything was simpler and easy. They will always be solid with me.
