Geresbeck's has been a staple in east Baltimore county for decades! This is the only place I go for crab meat, shrimp, lobster, packaged & baked goods and now- WESTERN FRIES!!! Geresbeck's has the best sales in town when it comes to seafood. The shrimp is always cheap & they steam on site. On a recent visit while waiting for my shrimp to be steamed, I took a walk around the market to see what else I could buy. Geresbeck's has a great speciality ice cream section. They had my favorite Taharka Brother's honey graham ice cream and some other tasty choices. I ended up in the bakery department and saw SO MANY delicious looking baked goods from a peanut butter Boston crème cake to banana pudding parfaits to mini cheesecakes. Their doughnuts are huge and made with the love of someone that loves to bake. I took quite a bit of photos showcasing their selections. As I walked through the store, I started to get a little hungry for a snack. I came back around to the deli/hot foods department and saw a mountain of tasty looking western fries. Now, western fries are extremely popular in Baltimore and the surrounding counties. I've had my share of western fries from the center of the city, to Brass Hen in Eastpoint mall, to even Royal Farms. All were delicious, BUT THESE FRIES WERE ABSOLUTE LOVE AT FIRST BITE!!! They were crunchy like a piece of fried chicken and tender inside like a fluffy baked potato. Omg, I can taste them right now. They were so, so amazingly yummy. If you love potatoes, or any variation of fries, you'd LOVE these. I actually may go back very soon for a fix. I didn't need salt, pepper, ketchup, NOTHING. Now, for my only gripe about Geresbeck's is that I wouldn't necessarily buy goods outside of the seafood, bakery or specialty items. I found that other items in the store, unless on sale, are higher priced than other grocery stores. But they have to counterbalance that with the affordable seafood prices, right? Anyways, if you're in the area, stop by and pick you up some delicious doughnuts and western fries while you're there. Geresbeck's is a piece of nostalgia that will make you feel like you were back in a time when everything was simpler and easy. They will always be solid with me. read more

Geresbecks is local grocery with the real food and groceries that you need and want. The bakery is very good. Great variety. Sometimes hit or miss on the pies though. Sometimes it isn't very well mixed and there can be salty spots in your sweet pie. But as for butcher shop meats it is very good. read more

Walking through the doors of this market is like traveling back in time with a time machine. The decor is certainly from the past but as a market this place has everything I expect from a competitive market at reasonable prices, and organized logically. I love the ready-food counter especially the fried chicken by the pound. I can tell the managers take pride in their store; everything looks especially clean and spotless. Not your average supermarket. You walk in and just start smiling. It's like oh, this is what a grocery store is supposed to be like! Nothing fancy, just everything thing well done. Very Blue collar, and lots of pride in the employees. I visiting in the area and found the place while looking for donuts (which didn't let me down). I left with some German sausages that caught my eye (had a really good selection of those). The fresh Seafood stand was impressive. if I lived in the area my seafood intake would go up ten fold. read more

They used to have the best fried chicken around now you get dried up fried chicken the meat inside is hard as a rock and so dry you choke on it after many complaints it obvious they don't care If you order the in store roast beef make sure they show it to you first and make sure they slice it the right way or you will spend 16.99 for a pressed meat substitute or meat that's sliced the wrong way which makes beef tougher. Been in the food business for 30 years when you pay almost 20 bucks for a pound of roast beef that's what you deserve to get read more

Solidly 3.5 stars but I bumped to four because we make the trek for weekend donuts with very little hesitation! The scratch bakery on its own is pretty extensive. It's always felt a bit crowded to me even when it isn't extremely busy, which I attribute to the densely packed shelves and the aisles themselves feel narrower than the standard. That said, checkout is usually quick and staff throughout the store have occasionally been personable, too. read more

Has someone new taken over Gersbeck's Deli? I hadn't been back in over two years, but I grew up in the area -- and for most of my life, Gersbeck's was a staple. Their cold salads were unmatched. Holidays, special events -- Gersbeck's was always part of the table. It wasn't just the food. The staff made you feel valued. Everyone was friendly, efficient, and the deli case? Always spotless -- often wiped down by a kind older woman who made the place feel like home. Fast forward to this week: it was my mom's birthday, and all she wanted was Gersbeck's creamy coleslaw. She's been a loyal customer for nearly 77 years. I've been one for 43. What we got was heartbreaking. I paid $12.34 for two pounds of coleslaw -- but the texture and flavor were unrecognizable. We tried a few bites and ended up throwing it out. Everything we loved about the deli is gone. And to top it off, the display case -- once gleaming -- was grimy and neglected. Please, for the love of all the pride and history that once lived behind that counter: clean it. Care again. I won't be returning. It was that bad. read more

Went to gerebeck for some cooked fried chicken on Saturday, 9/13/25. It was awful. I tried to add extra seasoning and it didn't work. They do not put any seasoning on it and it's cooked in old grease. Thats all I could taste was the old grease. Will never buy their fried chicken again ever. read more

Old school independent retailer. Excellent perimeter, possibly the best around. Bakery, Seafood, Produce, Deli, Meats, etc, all are excellent draws featuring excellent items and fantastic staff. The store was packed when I was there to buy Baltimore themed products from Goetze's, Zeke's, Wockenfuss, Otterbeins, Utz, etc for a gift exchange package I'm putting together in lieu of gift cards. And I picked up a few of their made from scratch donuts! I've been honored to have Geresbecks's as a customer selling candy direct to their stores and find it well worth the drive from Towson to visit this world class, service oriented Grocer. Earlier today I visited the new Geresbeck's in Pasadena. Unfortunately they did not have a pork butt that I was desperately searching for. My husband was on site catering an event when he discovered one of the pork butts he purchased at another store the previous day was bad. He called me and asked to track one down and bring it to him asap. I ended up calling this store and requesting to speak with the meat department. I asked if they had any porkbutts at which time I was told they just got some in. Upon arrival to the store I met with Teddy in the meat department. He was amazing! He was super helpful and he appeared to be expecting me although I am not sure if he is who I spoke with on the phone. I did tell them I was 20 minutes away when I called. He asked me specifically what I was looking for and I told him approximately 8lb pork butt. He went to the back and brought out a double pack which was perfect, but I only needed one. He went to the back and packaged one if them up for me. He was super quick and this stop at Geresbeck's eased my stress since all of the staff I encountered was extremely helpful!! This is a local neighborhood market that has been around for a long time. It is a busy market with a wide selection from fresh produce, hot foods, and seafood. They have a lot of employees and the ones I experienced were very helpful. Their sales are competitive to other supermarkets. I've tried their steamed shrimp and fried chicken. -Steam shrimp needs to be steamed longer and more season added. -Fried chicken was surprisingly seasoned very well! This was my first time going and it's your typical local market, with local and national food products. They have fresh seafood/shellfish, hot and cold prepared foods. Fantastic service and seafood! I can't comment on the store overall as I rarely shop here since it's not near me. However, I stopped in this evening, New Years Eve, for their shrimp special. Steamed shrimp from $6 a pound. The place was packed. It was so packed that I couldn't even get any good pics of the display case. I got at the end of the line which streaked around two aisles. Even so, the staff had things well in hand and moved people through quickly. I was through the line and at the counter in under 15 minutes! I got 6 pounds of extra large shrimp for $8 a pound. They were huge, well seasoned and fantastic! For my experience today, especially with the staff, an easy five stars. If I get back for groceries, I'll update on the store as a whole. read more

I've never actually been in this store; however, a colleague of mine got me a crab pretzel from here and oh my gosh. First of all, it was HUGE! And it was absolutely delicious. The problem is that sometimes their fast and sometimes you can stand at the deli for 20 mins and not get served while employees walk past obviously ignoring customers and not trying to make eye contact. I love all of the items in this store it's very different ! I went because friends told me to check it out and I was impressed ! However the Employees are not the friendliest ! From the seafood dept to the deli to the bakery and the cashiers ! The store should really start to enforce some type of customer service videos and or a meeting going over customer service before they loose allot of money to due to employees not being friendly to customers ! I am never shopping here again. The security guard told me to pull my mask over my nose, I did. Went to look at sushi and it fell down. Look up and the security guard is standing there and told me to pull it up now. Said it wasn't a request and that if I didn't listen I could leave and order my groceries online. Yeah, like I'd order from them after being treated that way. I took off my mask and left. There are plenty of other stores that I can shop at. We use to love this store, but as of today...not going back. The baked goods grow hair after a couple of days and the store has Old Bay hot sauce that is in a Potato salad container. I am wondering who poured it into a plastic container???? This store has had the State Health Department visit three times in one month. Yes, you read that right...the MD State Health Department. The Middle River OWNER stated that to us and everyone we were around. Carl, the owner, at the Middle River store does not care about the customers and basically said as much. He only cares for our money. So, this store lost four customers today, ALL of our friends and family. read more
