A neighbor introduced me to both Moriah and these affordable and filling honduran delicacies. The shop itself is unassuming, in fact you're likely to walk right by thinking it's closed if you don't know better. During my first solo trip, I was the lone customer inside and watched an elderly woman prepare and grill my pupusas with care and a smile. Everything is made fresh upon ordering so this isn't fastfood so to speak but your patience will be rewarded with handmade, quality deliciousness. Great options for an authentic Italian market! In fact, I brought my in-law here for a sandwich a few years back, they were visiting from Italy, and thought the sandwich was very authentic to their markets in Italy. I love all of their holiday foods as well. We picked up a bunch of chocolate eggs and ingredients to make tiramisu for Easter. They even offer wine tastings on Saturdays! The people who work here are so kind and helpful!

I have been a longtime fan of the DiPasquales family businesses, from their classic Italian markets in Baltimore to their new speakeasy style restaurant, Forno. Living in the county, I have always known about Mastellone's but somehow forget that it delivers the same amazing quality as the more modern DiPasquales locations. I finally made the trip to grab a weekday lunch and could not have been happier with my subs. The shop sits along a busy stretch of Harford Road, so be ready to parallel park quickly or find a nearby side street and walk over. Inside, it is everything you want in a true old school Italian deli. No frills, just shelves full of authentic Italian groceries, a big cold case with sauces, side dishes, desserts, and even a solid wine selection to take home. I ordered the Old World Italian sub, made with sopressata, capicola, prosciutto, fontinella cheese, olive tapenade, tomato, and a drizzle of EVOO on a toasted fresh baked roll. It was absolute perfection. The meats were thinly sliced and perfectly layered so that every bite had the full mix of flavor and texture. Salty, a touch spicy, and incredibly satisfying. At twelve dollars, it is the ideal price point for a weekday lunch that feels like a treat. The staff could not have been nicer. They were friendly, efficient, and you can tell they take real pride in what they do. Overall, Mastellone's is everything you want in a neighborhood Italian deli and absolutely worth the trip for anyone chasing elite level hoagies.

The inside is actually so charming with a lot of historic cabinets and stain glass details that I was not expecting at all. It's right off Falls Rd so very centrally located. You go to the deli counter, place your order, and then pay at the cash register up front. The menu is huge and overwhelming for a first timer. I got the Italian cold cut with everything on it on the gluten free roll. My boyfriend got the Black Russian on rye which came with roast beef, swiss, and coleslaw. We also got a small side of the broccoli salad. I loved the sandwich. It was stacked with yummy meat and flavorful sauce. I wish I would've added banana peppers for an extra kick though. It's been forever since I've had an Italian cold cut because so many places don't offer GF bread and if they do, it's usually sad white bread that falls apart the minute you touch it. The GF roll was pretty solid and stayed in tact. Next time, I'll probably get a hot sub since the flavor and texture of the roll would be better if it was toasted. The broccoli salad was delicious too with bits of bacon and a sweet sauce. I'd definitely return here in the future!

Scittino's has seating to enjoy your pizza in store or outside. Our order was ready in no time. We opted to take ours to go. The pizza was fresh with a great yeasty crust. The toppings were good and ample, the tomatoes sauce fresh with just enough cheese to pull it all together. The pizza was really good. All in all, another pizza spot to add to our growing list in the area.
