Let me warn you, first, that there's a speed camera on Kane Street. Whoopsie!! All the other reviewers are on point about how wonderful this store smells. The barrels of olives punch you in the face with their aroma as soon as you enter the store. The boyfriend and I had a great time looking at all the intriguing products while we spun our laundry down the street at Sudsville - and came away with a HUGE box of gyro meat and some pitas (which were, unfortunately, stale). I think the store could possibly consider selling some fresh veg, such as tomatoes, cucumbers and onions, and tzatziki sauce so they could be a one-stop shop for lovers of gyros. I stopped on here today to see what this establishment has for retail sale. They had a really good selection of Greek foods and snacks. I got some candy, a koulouri thessalonikis (rounded seeded bread), and a package of koulourakia (dessert bread). It was all really good. If you want some Greek snacks or ingredients such as olive oil, this is a good place to stop. read more

Prima Foods is the Greek wholesale establishment I've always dreamed of. Their storefront offers imported olive oil at the most competitive prices. They offer a robust selection of Greek products, my favorites being the frozen spanakopitas and tiropitas that are the most authentic pitas outside of bakeries in Greece. They also offer lamb shanks and large legs of lamb bone-in... an Easter must. It is truly a gem of Baltimore! read more

I have been looking for a decent Greek grocery store in the National Capitol Metro Region. I had to adopt the NCMR designation simply because I couldn't find anything in DC, itself! So luckily I was driving around Baltimore when I remembered that Prima was there. Prima is located in East Baltimore and is in a seedy part of town almost underneath the I95 overpass. It looks like a warehouse on the outside and even after I parked, I had to sort of squint to see little windows and people inside. There is ample parking inside a fenced area. Inside, the store is quite nice! It's very clean and well organized. They have a great selection of dry goods and canned goods, Greek coffee, spices, etc. The olive selection is off the hook amazing! And the price for olive oil is actually very good. They also have an ample number of cheeses. There is a freezer. However, they do not have fresh baklava, which happened to be my primary reason for stopping in. I love that stuff! Also, they do not have very nice cow feta....just the sheep stuff, which is too sheep-y for me. All in all, I really liked this place. It's not exactly a destination as the store is very small. But for cleanliness, friendliness, and a surprisingly large amount of quality goods in a small area, it's pretty damned awesome! read more

Some of the most authentic and flavorful imported ingredients I have found in any market. Greek authenticity, and legitimate prepared foods. Friendly and professional staff, and homey atmosphere. Although small, doesn't lack in finding something you can cook or work with. Smells like olives and oregano once you enter. Honestly a hidden gem and anyone would be glad to find this market. Really look forward to visiting this place and buying at least a couple things once a month. It's also right down the street from the restaurant store which is a major plus! Not in a great neighborhood but they have their own parking so no worries. I frequent here for their honey $10 (huge! Definitely budget) and olive oil $10 (huge tin can, lasts about 1-2 months). I've tried olives before but for me, it was a wee bit too salty. If you're Greek, this is the place to come for olives and feta cheese. You can also get lentils, chickpeas, and other beans for a good price and filo dough. I've experimented with the dough and it was crispy and lots of fun! This is a hidden treasure! Its a little small and can get very crowded on a Saturday. But aside from that, this place is excellent! They have fresh feta from Greece, so you know its going to be real. You can buy all your basic spices in bulk for less then $10 a bottle. There is also fresh imported olive oil. And where else are you going to get goat cheese for less then $6 a pound. Excellent Greek olives, a wide range of feta, including our favorite from VG Commerce (Bulgarian), frozen lamb, octopus, moussaka, and really good spanakopita, lutenitza (fire roasted sweet red pepper paste), dolmas in large cans, oregano, Greek mountain tea, ... love this place. read more
