I recently moved to the area and needed to stick my kitchen, so I shopped here today. The store is very big and has basically everything you'd need. I came early so there were a lot of dollies being worked in the floor but that made the isles crowded and hard to move around. I was at the store for a while getting everything I needed and as more time passed it was even harder to move around. The cashier that checked me out was very fast and made the transaction easy. Overall, this is a good store. I give 4 stars because the prices were higher than I expected. Compared to where I'm from, everything in the store costs an extra $1.50. It's not a terrible mark up but I definitely spent more money than I feel I should have. read more

The pre sliced lunch meat is more times than not a gray/green in color and the cheese has no barrier between slices and you can't get slices apart...so you are spending money on stuff you have to throw away,this giant used to be as good as it gets but in the last 2-3 years, it has gone to trash and in that I have thrown pounds of lunch meat and cheese read more

Stop buying meat from giant , they don't care about quality or you if you decide to purchase any deli meat please smell it first, because they smell it and will still cut it and sell it to you also any package meat as well should be fully before purchase, I call for a total boycott of these stores. read more

I went to Giant on a mission for stringless sugar snow snap peas. Thus far this is the only store that carries the stringless variety of peas that are excellent for snacking. After failing to find stringless peas at Aldi and Harris Teeter, I went out of my way to this Giant as there are no Giants in my general area. Parking was a breeze on a Sunday evening, but it was packed inside the store. Luckily the produce section is just to the left of the entrance and I was quickly able to procure 3 bags of peas. It was the self-checkout line that was the pain. There are perhaps 10 scanners/registers in self-checkout, all in use, and a long line for self-checkout. The good news is this line moved quickly within 5 minutes I was ringing myself up, paying for my peas, and George Jefferson strolling out the door. The rest of the store looked nice and reasonably clean given the sheer amount of people in there. It's doubtful I ever do real grocery shopping here unless I move to Hampden, but I'll continue popping by as long as they continue carrying those STRINGLESS sugar snap peas! read more

I know you are going to ignore but will try anyway for your other customers,with that being said I will never shop at Giant Food Store 2306 1020 west 41st street Baltimore Maryland 21211 ,again for the following reason...this store has no help for one and when you approach management about it, if you can get them off the phone, get I'm sorry. From the cashier you hear that someone has called out or they ran out of hours at the beginning of the week..that is not acceptable, I am a manager myself if I see lines in my company I either call someone to the front or get on the register myself.. my latest stop in the store was one register with there light on and two other cashiers with there light off. This is not acceptable. If people have called out because they didn't feel like being there management needs to do a coaching. If you have issues you should have a contingency plan for when these things happen so your customer does not get long hours waiting in line because your management team doesn't know what to do. If I was the president of the company if I got an email like this i would first not let the store know I am coming like I have seen managers in the past do. I would put on so street clothes like your customers wear and go to see for myself how things are running .. but I know you will just sit in your cozy chair look like you are doing something and continue to let your customers suffer ..not for me there is several other grocery stores in the area maybe they will be better. I decided for my first time to try the Giant curb side pickup at the 41st Street location. I arrived as scheduled in my time slot. I attempted to access the Giant App. To notify them I had arrived, but the App would not open. It just kept cycling around and around. I then called the in store curb side pickup number and the line went dead, total silence. I didn't know if I was being connected or the call had been dropped. I waited for some time and no pick up, so I hung up and called again. The same thing happened, so I stayed on the line and eventually someone answered. I told her I was there and wanting to pick up my order. The female abruptly said "I'll be right out" and hung up. I waited for 20 minutes with engine running due to the heat. I finally was tired of waiting and using my gasoline so I called customer service and asked her to cancel my order. The lady's reply was "You have to cancel it yourself". This so called service that is being offered is an insult to the Giant reputation (At least at this location) I will never use it again and am considering doing what my daughter did years ago because she will not solicit this Giant. She drives to the Cockeysville location, even if it is far to drive. She's always happy with that store. read more

I recently moved, and Giant was the closest grocery store, so I went to stock up. Their bread was reasonably fresh and, while not great, not at all terrible. That, and the funniest employee I've ever met, earned them the two stars. I'll explain my intentions never to return below, but first, let me say the absolute highlight of my visit. A genial employee, calling back and forth to customers offering free samples greeted me. When I asked him where to find cheese, he sized me up with but a glance and said "You aren't the type for the fancy cheese that's over yonder, let me direct you to the pre grated stuff." I was, actually, looking for the "fancier stuff," and was a little offended that I had been so swiftly judged, and harshly too, but his warm smile warmed my heart. Perhaps I would be content with pre grated. Perhaps this is a man who knows me better than I know myself. I walked where he directed me and found myself in the aisle labeled "Pet food and Cat litter." Yes, that is the cheese I was not looking for, thank you. I would be offended if it weren't literally the funniest diss, intentional or not, to which I've ever been subjected. Absolute A+ stuff. The rest of my time in Giant was a nightmare. Prices were bad and inconsistently labeled. And when I say bad, I mean compared to shopping in California. I grabbed the bare minimum I needed to survive for the day, and then attempted to check out. Lines for human cashiers were heavily booked (for reasons I now understand), so I headed to the self checkout. It was the single most dysfunctional computer I've had the misfortune to work with. It was unresponsive in the extreme, the scanner worked perhaps half the time, and buttons seemed to demand an ogre's strength to press. I gave up and didn't buy anything that required a key code. Perhaps I was unlucky. Perhaps this is just a singularly unpleasant place to shop. Regardless, it's a great place to stop if you're looking to receive the most elaborate, if somewhat lame, disses of your life. Otherwise, I'm taking the hour long commute to Costco via public transit every day of the week, rather than subjecting myself to this grocery store. read more

This Giant store is fine, but I wouldn't say I enjoy shopping here. Selection is average. The store itself is nice enough. There's ample parking. However, if it weren't as convenient as it is, I wouldn't shop here. Basic grocery store. What is up with a 24 hour store that SHUTS THE MEAT department and entrance doors at 8 pm the day before Christmas Eve, has no scotch tape (but a huge valentines display! On December 23!) AND ONE CASHIER? Two days before Christmas. It's actually always like this at this giant at night, i mean you cannot get to a darn chicken or pork chop past 7 pm, which is offensive enough. But I was shocked that they did this on dec 23, just... don't care at all I guess? Their bakery is the WORST. Stale baguettes at six pm? Again with the shutting everything so early. Some of us have jobs that last into the evening, and 8 or nine at night is when we can get to the store. This doesn't mean it's ok to place huge immovable pallets of stock in front of the ground beef and hey, would it kill you to have some human being working anywhere but courtesy (ha!) counter? Also the cheese selection is frankly insulting--it is not 1963, we all know there are other cheeses besides plastic Brie and we don't think Cabot cheddar is "fancy". I guess it's just terrible management at this store. Maybe they send them to the same training that CVS on falls sends their people to: the management school where they encourage the employees to bunker down as if it's a war zone as soon as the sun crosses the yardarm? The management school that suggests stocking only the things no one needs, ignoring the actual calendar? The one that suggests that no actual employee be available ever at any time? I don't know what their market research tells them about this neighborhood but I think maybe the demographics don't really reflect the reality on the ground or something. I actually tried to contact royal "A-hole" about this before posting but the only option I could find was for "praise". Yeah not so much, Dutch boys. read more

To say that I do not like this giant would be an understatement. I'm not going to lie....I've always hated their parking lot which is way too small and full of bad drivers including myself. What I thought would be a "quick" run to the grocery store turned out to be a comical trek of trials and tribulations. The aisles were small and either full of stocking trucks or other shoppings and making the aisles really hard to maneuver. Then there was only 2 checkout lines with a cashier that was not 12 items or less and the people ahead of me had a million things and the cashier wasnt helping them bag. I had to be somewhere in like an hour so I finally went to self checkout. Self checkout was also a disaster. Besides it thinking I was stealing two times and needing overrides, it wouldn't scan 2 of my items including a rotesserie chicken so I kept scanning it and the juices in the bag went all over the scanner counter. Then it said the stuff that I bagged was over the weight limit and I had to move it to my cart and start over. Then it wouldnt take my money and I had to go over to the actual person who had to cash me out. Then out in the parking lot which is on a slight hill my stuff my cart was slipping and sliding all over the place. Stuff I had in the bottom compartment fell out. I ended up like 30 minutes late to the thing I was trying to attend. Never again. Giant is for a quick run for a few things not a ton of things. Walmart Supercenter is a much better choice. There was one positive, giant is usually more expensive than walmart but this time it turned out the prices were pretty fair. read more

Horrible place to shop. Unqualified store manager named Renee. You have to wait in line a long time. Giant doesn't treat this store like a super g. This place is busy and needs a small army to make it function better. Also out of product all the time. The night captain named rob is a creep. Spends a lot of time out on medical leave,when he comes back hassles the little bit of help he does have. Bragg's about how he and the store manager get bonuses for keeping workers hour's down. This is a good store. It has mostly everything that you'd be looking for an a good grocery selection. It's open 24/7 and has pretty good customer service. Personally, it's pretty accessible, affordable, and super convenient to shop at. I don't know why anyone would seriously give this place a bad rating, so I left this realistic one. read more

A 24 hour Giant, what else could be better? The store is always really clean and well-stocked but is undergoing renovations so it can be a little hectic. Also, the employees can be hit or miss depending on the time of day. Shawndae is the best grocery clerk there! And the prices...well, they are average. However, there have been multiple instances when I have walked in the store and nearly nothing was on sale. Also, they got rid of the faculty/student discount for the summer, hopefully it comes back. Overall, it's in a great neighborhood, it's clean, and it's 24hours. It's my preferred grocery store and I will return. read more

I was very disappointed by the way the cashier was throwing my grocery on the belt. I bagged my grocery as fast as I can, while watching my grocery flying out of her hand. She was so fast scanning, I couldn't keep up with her. After she finished scanning, she threw all my groceries in the bag without sorting the soft and the hard goods. The elderly woman in front of me was straggling to bag and put her grocery on the cart. The young lady didn't even offer to help. She simply started to scan my grocery! I understand that cashiers has to make a fast transaction! I refused to use self service because I am trying to save her (all cashiers job). I don't want any grocery to use more machine and get ride of their workers. I think Giant has to train their cashier how to handle our food. Also, they have to train them how to be friendly and helpful to elderly and to all customers! read more

The meat is horrible quality and there's very little of it. They have a "butcher" there, but no meat. It's all prepackaged. I've bought chicken that wasn't expired but was off. So their refrigeration is bad, or they let things sit someplace it shouldn't be before it goes in the case. The fish is low quality and old. The manager told me they get a fresh shipment everyday. Hard to believe. Finally, the parking lot is dangerous. There is a lot of theft and armed robbery. I will not shop there ever. read more

Fine enough if you need to pick up a few things but not a good place to do your regular grocery shopping. The produce is often questionable and goes bad way sooner than produce at other grocery stores. It's sometimes impossible to get service at the seafood counter. During busy times, you'll have to roam the parking lot to find your own cart, as they don't restock the front of the store with carts nearly enough. read more

There seems to be confusion in the reviews of this Giant. There used to be two Giant Food stores basically on the same street in Hampden. One was in The Rotunda (which is now closed) and the other, which was briefly a Superfresh and then Fresh and Greens, but is now a Giant, is in the shopping center on 41st off of Falls Road (With Dunkin' Donuts, Yama Sushi, Rite Aid, etc). Anyhoo, now that we've cleared that up- this is actually a pretty decent Giant. I prefer Whole Foods or Mom's for a lot of the specialty items I buy, but I end up at the Giant a lot because it's so close to my house. And you know what? They are doing an awesome job at accommodating those of us with 'alternative diets.' Some things they're doing well: -"Natural" foods section seems carefully curated and I've always been able to find what I need there, even if it's a 'weird' ingredient. -Decent selection of organic produce. Not stellar. But getting there... -Great sales/weekly specials --Handheld scan as you go thingies -Clean, well-stocked -Good selection of dairy-free milks, ice cream treats, and butter (but there's always room for more!) -Decent gluten free aisle AND frozen gluten free section (though not labeled- you'll have to look for it.) -Helpful customer service. They will find you the item you need, or order it. -When you request that they start carrying an item---they actually do---shocker! -Friendly, happy people at deli and fish counter. Deli offers you samples while you wait. -Always ask if you need help out to your car -Open 24 hours. When I've purchased groceries particularly late at night, the checkout people pretty much don't take no for an answer with walking you to your car. Once, I was literally buying two things at around midnight. I felt silly accepting 'help to my car' since I had one bag, but the bagger guy insisted on walking outside and watching until I safely got into my car. Very impressive customer service. What I don't like: -The self-checkout is always breaking. It is no longer a time-saver because 99% of the time you have to wait for help. -Whenever I've checked out with the handheld scanner, I get stopped on my way out the door so that they can "randomly" check my receipt with what's in my bags. If it's really random, why am I ALWAYS stopped? I don't steal! It defeats the 'time-saving' aspect of the handheld scanner, but having the total add up as you go is still nice. Giant your pickup is absolutely the worse. I placed an order on the 15th to be picked up on the 16th. I rescheduled it for pickup today. I never received another confirmation at all. I call the store they have no record of my pickup order at all but yet in still y'all still have my money. I talked to peapod with no satisfaction at all. The app is trash the website also. It won't let me pull up the order and it won't show me the order at all. The app and the website needs to be shut down until tech support can create an efficient app that works correctly. 8n the meantime I need my groceries or my money. Since you never did the order and can't find it I need my money back as soon as possible. I work too hard to be wasting an hour or more on the phone and the app only to not have my order fulfilled. This is absolutely the worse and it needs to be corrected. This is the second time this has happened. I shouldn't have to wait almost a week to get my money back. read more

Dudes and dudettes, you won't believe what that CVS check in looking thing really is!..... I went into Giant today and stopped up front to check the machine out, as I promised to do. This thing is like a shopping scanner you carry around with you while shopping! Real time you are scanning your groceries to get an accurate account of what you are buying. Even though I was shopping for one item, I was like a kid in a candy shop and I had to try it! Oh my gosh, for anyone that has a large grocery bill u know how much drama it is to remember to bring the calculator or try to count in your head.....I am always wrong once I get to the counter forcing me to put things back. Today I went in there for one item. I got my item, and started towards the check out lines. ALL of them had customers with CARTS of things. So I tried the self check out. they were all blinking and saying" please stand by, someone will be with you shortly". From the looks of the people's faces standing there, not being able to check out.....I would say "shortly"... had passed. I looked around again, and it was apparent there was a lack of staff at the checkout, so I put my item back, and left. I will try this store again, hopefully with a better review update. read more

This is a pretty decent grocery store by Baltimore standards. It's huge - much bigger and better kept-up than the old one at the Rotunda, and it's packed with everything that you need (and a lot that you don't). Some things are a bit expensive, but there are plenty of sales and good deals to be had if you look for the right things. LoML scored a 50 dollar sale on a pork loin - original price 75 dollars, card price 25. He took it to the butcher counter and had them slice it up - voila, 20 pounds of pork chops. The prepackaged price was 5.99 a pound - ours were 1.25 a pound. Cha-CHING! The novelty of coming here, though, is the shopping scanner. You scan your Giant card (you do have to have one), and a scanner on the wall near the entrance lights up. Grab it and start scanning away. It keeps track of everything in your basket, telling you how much it is, adding it all up for you, and calculates savings. It's the best thing I've ever seen. If you take bags with you and put your items in while you shop, you can even avoid the cashiers altogether - they have a special line where you scan it through, it tallies up, you pay and you're out of there. For someone who's antisocial like me, you cannot BEAT that. A downside is that sometimes, if it's very busy, the scanners are all being used, or they're charging up on the wall - rather a pain in the ass. You can use your smartphone to scan, but that's also a big pain because it uses QR technology, which as we know isn't all that stellar yet, and it takes forever to do it that way. If you use coupons at the Scan-It register, GO SLOWLY. If you try to rush it, it'll screw the machine all up and you have to call for help, which eliminates the whole point of scanning it yourself in the first place. Either way, I think we've found our permanent grocery store - it's only 15 minutes from the house, it's clean and well kept, and has fresh produce and deli, just like we like it. The Giant at Hampden is a definite win. read more

This is the Giant that we frequent. It's generally clean, the staff friendly, well stocked and 24 HOURS!!! All great things in our eyes. But this weekend, we purchased fried chicken to take to a get together, and it was horrid. It tasted like it had been sitting under the warming lamp for a year (which it may have) and was dry and gross. I can't come up with enough adjectives to describe how bad it was. So, we had to chuck it. My SO decided we should get our money back and call the store, speaking to the MOD- Miranda, who told us to come in and she would take care of it. He explained he couldn't come in right away, no problem. When I finally did make it to the store, the customer service person was very apologetic and quick with the refund, no questions asked. Customer service can make or break a place, and we were very pleased how they responded to an unhappy customer. read more

This is a great Giant. The cashiers are friendly, the store is clean, and you are sure to get plenty of good local flavor shopping with your North Baltimore compatriots. Many times I've asked for something they appeared to be out of, only to have an associate go in the back and make it fresh or grab one - guacamole and rotisserie chicken! Protip: it is open 24 hours, so you can skip the Hopkins-Student-Grocery-Bus or 5-7pm peak hours if you tweak your schedule a little. read more

Fresh produce, friendly staff, but the only reason why I come here is because it's on my way home from work. To be honest, there's nothing wrong with this Giant (or any others) except for the deli. So slow. SO SLOW. After work I expect the deli to be busy (which it is), but I also expect to see a pep in the step of the deli employees. I never see that at Giant. At any Giant for that matter. It must be a prerequisite to work at the deli counter at a Giant: must exhibit absolutely no sense of urgency. This probably sounds a little ridiculous and you're probably thinking, "geez lady - have some patience!" That's the thing - I'm EXTREMELY patient. I don't mind if it takes a while when it's busy... so long as you show a little bit of a hustle. And you don't sit there and chit chat with your co-workers. You have a LINE. MOVE! I've worked in customer service. There is absolutely no excuse to lollie-gag. I guess I'm just spoiled with Harris Teeter's AMAZING service. There is some good news at the deli counter at Giant - the deli kiosk. You can place an order while you do the rest of your shopping and pick it up when you're done. That said - it takes at least 20-30 minutes. So this will work if you have a pretty extensive grocery list. If you don't, make sure you are prepared to wait in line. read more

This is a very clean and nice grocery store located at the Rotunda. While it is smaller than the other Giant at Waverly, it is definitely much nicer. It's not open 24 hours, but the clean environment makes up for that. I often buy groceries here. The prices are the usual mid-range grocery store prices, but the items are quite fresh. Especially the fruits and veggies. Lots of parking next to it, and you don't have to keep your fingers crossed for not getting mugged :). On the number 22 bus route. read more

One star for the one employee wearing a mask in the store today. DISGUSTING disregard for the law and the lives of shoppers. Are you serious, Giant? All other locations I shop (Columbia, Ellicott City) the employees diligently wipe down self checkouts and wear PPE but tonight I felt completely unsafe and outraged while employees lumbered about with masks hanging under their chins as they stood around blabbering and spewing particles everywhere. Also, customers here don't know how to properly tuck their noses and mouths into masks; idiocy breeds more idiocy so I guess this entire neighborhood is doomed to COVID demise. Best part? An employee helping a customer at self checkout who was giggling as his face slipped out of his shirt which he was utterly failing as using as a mask. Nice, spacious, clean store with polite and helpful staff. I go here for emergency grocery shopping. They have everything including bakery, produce, stationery, personal care products, pharmacy, frozen foods, deli, etc. Salad bar has a good variety of items. I like the shrimp and seafood stuffed pasta shells, water melon, blue berries, beets, fruit salad, etc. it's in a nice little shopping plaza with other stores such as hair cuttery, Dunkin donuts, New China II restaurant, rite aid, etc. read more

Terrible service, usually only has a few lines open, and employees are seen standing around eating when lines are backed up. Produce is ok, but there have been several times when all of their lettuce is partially frozen. There was also a time when the store brand bread I bought was moldy. Might just be the times I go, but I'm probably going to shop elsewhere because of the number of problems I've had. read more

This Giant is nice and clean. I mostly see working class people which is a good thing. Also it's open 24 hours. It's definitely my go to store. It's a bit more expensive then stores I'm used to in Georgia but had a large variety of products. Oh they also have some yummy specialty cupcakes for $.99! read more
