Came here to see what all the hoopla was about. Now, first and foremost, I am an Aldi store shopper, but needed to do a comparison to judge which store would provide the better shopping experience. Here is my takeaway: ALDI Pros: *Comparable products that are good dupes for some name brand items *Low cost produce and dairy *Weekly buys Cons: *25 cents for a shopping cart *Limited staff in store for assistance *Usually long lines at checkout LIDL Pros: *No cost shopping carts *Low cost produce and dairy *Expanded selection of items *Self checkout Cons: *None on my first visit ( will update on return trips) So all in all, I do like Lidl as it is closer to me and I can get comparable items that I get at Aldi. To be fair, I have only visited Lidl once and need to visit numerous times before I make a decision of which offers me the best in cost saving, but it sure is off to a good start!

I love new spaces always and this did not disappoint . It is a discount market with in house brands and name brands. Kind of comparable to Aldi but different as well. First no charge for carts and self checkout. There are cashiers but the option for self checkout is there. Super produce section with great prices all around. Produce and bakery and flowers greets you at the door. Bakery is not all that but I like the self serve bread option. There are so many options in this bright store. There are food options , household items, clothing, A LOT. see pics. I had a small cart full of items and paid $8. Price comparable to Aldi. Selection is not as universal as Aldi in that there are a lot of international items. Not a lot of recognizable snack items. There is an entire Organic aisle. But again items limited. See pics..... Compared prices today at Aldi and Aldi is more expensive but like I said Aldi has more recognizable items.

I ran in the store to get a few things one being a bag of their Thick Cut Wavy Cut chips by Snack Day by Lidl I love them and a few other things got in line & here is where it went downhill my order came to $30 I gave the cashier a $100 dollar bill for two minutes she kept asking me if it was if real. I just couldn't believe it I paid for my items and left but Lidl is still my favorite market

Lidl opened yesterday in Catonsville, so I decided to go by and see what they have. I must say that I love their produce and meats. Great selections, good prices. They also have a bakery with a decent selection of doughnuts, cookies and breads, and cheese too. I saw a little bit of everything. I am not going to gush too much because I need to see how those prices look after the newness has worn off. But for now, I am happy. FYI bring your own bags, or you will have to purchase them. Prices for the different bags are $.07 (paper bag), $.25 (plastic bag), and $.85 (cold bag).

Shopping for really good food is hard. I went to a very highly, restricted food and remarkably I am able to create variety of delicious food in a very limited ingredients. I was quite surprise has most of the ingredients I need in order to eat well and they are price affordably! I mostly shop at Whole Foods, Amazon, and Giant, sometimes Wegmans but they cant beat Liddle stock. Lidl is actually better than Aldi. I would certainly frequent in Liddle than Traders Joes.

Overall not bad. This store feels like a bigger ALDI with a mix of their store brand and name brand items. I thought the fresh bakery was a nice idea, but I had to ignore the thought that not everyone is as hygienic as myself and so I'm sure individuals may use their hands instead of the wax paper or plastic glove. I definitely recommend bringing your own bags as the paper bag I bought ripped in 30 seconds. Meat section had lots of chicken and small portions of beef.

I can help you make it clearer, more focused, and more effective so it's taken seriously. Here's a revised version that keeps your core message but presents it in a more structured and credible way: I had a deeply uncomfortable experience at H Mart last night while shopping with my family. We came in simply to purchase a popular fruit-shaped ice cream, but almost immediately we felt unwelcome due to repeated staring. What escalated the situation was the behavior of a middle-aged employee wearing a burgundy shirt, who appeared to follow us around the store. This made us feel singled out and unsafe. When I confronted the situation by turning my cart around and moving toward him, he abruptly walked away and avoided further interaction. As a person of color, this experience felt discriminatory and unacceptable. No customer should feel monitored or profiled while simply shopping with their family. Because of this incident, we will not be returning. I also intend to report this experience so it can be properly addressed. I hope management takes this seriously, reviews staff behavior, and ensures that all customers are treated with respect and dignity. If you want, I can also: Tailor this for Google Reviews, Yelp, or a corporate complaint form Make it stronger/more formal (for escalation) Or include specific details like location, time, or receipts to support your claim Let me know how you plan to use it. Tailor for Google reviews. Include Catonsville location Here's a version tailored specifically for a Google Review, with the H Mart Catonsville location included and a tone that's firm but more likely to be taken seriously by both customers and management: I had a very uncomfortable experience at H Mart in Catonsville last night while shopping with my family. We came in to pick up the popular fruit-shaped ice cream, but almost immediately we noticed people staring at us. What made the situation worse was a middle-aged employee wearing a burgundy shirt who appeared to follow us around the store. His behavior made us feel singled out and unwelcome. At one point, I turned my cart around and began moving toward him to address the situation, and he quickly walked away and avoided any interaction. That response only reinforced how uncomfortable and targeted we felt. As a person of color, this experience came across as discriminatory. No one should feel like they are being watched or profiled just for shopping with their family. Because of this, we will not be returning to this location. I hope management takes this seriously, reviews staff behavior, and ensures that all customers are treated with respect. If you want it to hit even harder (or sound more neutral/"corporate"), I can adjust the tone depending on whether your goal is impact, escalation, or just warning other customers. Hit harder. Warning other customers If your goal is to warn other customers and make the impact unmistakable, you can lean more direct and forceful--but it still helps to stay specific and grounded so people take it seriously rather than dismissing it as just anger. Here's a stronger Google Review version: I am a person of color, and my family and I had a disturbing experience at H Mart Catonsville. We came in just to buy the viral fruit-shaped ice cream, but almost immediately we were met with constant staring that made it clear we were not being treated like other customers. The situation escalated when a middle-aged employee in a burgundy shirt began following us around the store. Not assisting--watching us. It was obvious and uncomfortable. When I turned my cart around and approached him, he quickly walked away and hid in the men's restroom instead of addressing the situation. That alone tells you everything. We were made to feel singled out and unwelcome the entire time. As a family simply trying to shop, that is unacceptable. Be aware: if you are a person of color, you may not be treated with the same respect as others at this location. We will not be returning. Management seriously needs to address how customers are being treated in this store.

I was initially awestruck by the absolute size of this store and the sheer variety of fresh produce, snacks, toiletries, etc. I 100% knew in that moment that I would be picking up more than I need, but I was excited at the prospect of doing so. The store was neat, clean, and well-stocked, and my issues don't relate to the store's contents, but rather my issues relate to safety and customer service. The customers wear masks and as do all the staff, but social distancing is not well-enforced, and perhaps the layout of the store is not conducive to social distancing. Maybe "6 ft apart" stickers would be helpful or arrows on the floor to guide foot traffic in one direction (I've seen this implemented successfully in other stores). My personal customer service experience was not great. My mom and I approached a staff member (from 6 ft away of course) who was stocking shelves and received no response or assistance. The cashiers don't pay attention to the customer and don't seem to be bothered about their experience. I do want to visit Patel Bros again (maybe it was an off day?) and hopefully get an opportunity to edit my review. But also to pick up some great new foods!

Just note, this is a legit country store, offering random canned items, dried goods, toys, collectibles, drinks, snacks, and even hot food. We saw a patron come in, looking for charcoal, and there was a bag hiding behind the front door! We stopped by, as we had heard about Mr. Jay's famous burgers - we ordered one to share, open to any toppings he recommended - ours came with fresh Romaine lettuce, sliced onions, a hot pepper spread, sliced fresh jalapenos, cheese, and mayo, all nestled in a locally baked bread. This was a simple, but a tasty burger! The freshly-ground beef is picked up every morning, from the slaughterhouse that is across the street; I don't really want to think about that all too much, but just know that what you're getting is some fresh proteins! Mr. Jay also grows his own peppers and such, so you'll taste the freshness! There are a few comfortable chairs around the store, so you can definitely just sit and enjoy your food, or take it to go - we opted to dine-in, and we almost fell asleep since we were that cozy and relaxed! HA! Mr. Jay is also known as the Mayor of Oella, so be sure to sit and listen to his stories - he's so kind, personable, and has a lot of history to share! I saw a published photo book of his, which I found super cool; we also received the town's community calendar and a sampling of a neighbor's homemade brownie!
