I'm seeing a lot of mixed reviews for this grocery store but for me personally, I just had one of the most pleasant shopping experiences of my life which is a lot to say in Maryland. Absolutely amazing to me that they can't fix the elevator. A gambling man could do an over/under on how many days a month the elevator would be out of order. I would take the over... What makes even more ridiculous is that the pharmacy is on the 2nd floor and a disproportionate number of their customers are older people who could have some difficulty using the stairs. read more

This place truly sucks. If the nearby Giant had a pharmacy, I would never set foot in this Harris Teeter again. Awful produce selection. The seafood counter is a joke. This is Baltimore and they can't get fresh fish? Everything they sell (except for one thing - the farmed salmon) has been previously frozen and then thawed for sale. The deli counter is terrible. No fresh deli salads like cole slaw, potato salad, etc. The baker is truly abysmal...they don't have freshly baked breads....everything is either Panera or totally stale La Brea breads. The managers there clearly don't give a shit about the place...because I've offered constructive feedback multiple times and they just stare at you blankly. Just terrible. read more

This Harris Teeter's has a good selection of groceries. Their meat and seafood department is extremely helpful and efficient. They usually have markdowns on several meat items, such as steak and pork loins. Their prices are affordable and the quality of their goods are high. They have a Starbucks within their store and a wine and beer store attached right next-door. Upstairs they have a pharmacy, as well as toiletries and other medical supplies. They do have a lottery kiosk and the bathrooms are usually clean. They also have self checkout as well with an employee usually always there to help you if need. read more

I had such bad service at this location that I vowed not to return. That was 6 months ago and I am more convinced I was right after dealing with the Canton Crossing store. This store stands out as truly bad service. Suffice it to say, when a customer is complaining about bad service from a front end supervisor/manager, and the front end sup/manager says I am the manager while walking away dismissively, we'll that's bad. When I finally was graced by the manager, their first response was not to acknowledge my upset, or find out how they could resolve my issues. No, they decided to pat themselves on the back for their concern. Sorry. But the folk at Canton Crossing proved how much of an outlier in the negative the Whetstone store is. I literally drive 20 minutes further to avoid this store. By the way, writing to their corporate office got a a concerned email but no follow thru from the store. read more

This is the best grocery option in the neighborhood by a large margin. A lot of their prices are in the high side (compared to aldi or lidl) but if you make an option to shop the sales, prices are generally reasonable. Certainly if you compare item for item with the giant just down the road, I think you can buy what you need at HT for less. Beyond good prices and selection, HT services is generally very good. Just today I had to return a bottle of cooking oil (I had bought the wrong type) and they were quick and friendly about it. The only thing I would like to see improve is the staffing at self checkout. When someone is there, things are great, but sometimes there is no one there to help when there are issues checking out. read more

Solid grocery store. I feel like they are mostly always stocked and have a great selection of specialty items. GLOWS: - The sushi bar has a really good selection, and it is actually good sushi. - The cheese section is very plentiful - Although expensive, the seafood appears fresh and mostly stocked. - The bakery has some good selections as well. GROWS: - They do have a hot bar, but it seems to only be 1/2 functional due to covid (Not a fan of anything self-service at this point). The salad bar appears to still be down. This was my very 1st time patronizing at a Harris Teeter. And I must say, this is a very nice establishment. I was out and about with my sew sister and her mom for an outing when we stumbled inside. We all have aches and pains, but mom definitely needed some assistance, so we got her the motorized scooter. As a tease, I informed the security guard, he should check her for her license and registration. We all got a kick out of his sense of humor. He made us feel welcome even though some patrons were bothered by our laughter. I was surprised how big this store was and had two levels plus an elevator. It almost reminded me of Wegman's. They had a hot and cold bar, various choices of cheese, and even had a section for wine and spirits. I had no intention to buy anything, but did pick up some tea, vanilla paste, and lemon flavoring. I did take notice of the # of employees that were POC and how well they operated the store. It gave me a sense of hope and pride! Even at check-out, the cashiers nearby insisted they help me check-out since I only had 3 items . I wanted to stay with my friend and her mom, even though they ahd way more items. I then let the nearest cashier ring me up. She asked if I was VIC reward member, and proceeded to tell her I was not since this my first time shopping here. So many reasons to hate this HT. I shop there occasionally because it's near my office, so if I need a last-minute ingredient, I'll give it a try. Today may have been the last straw when I saw they took all the scales out of the produce section -- you know, the department where they sell things by the pound. In addition to being 30% more than a store just three miles away, McHenry Row HT is infuriating because: -produce is often rotten on the inside, but pretty on the outside -prices are optional! -low quality meat -- the "fresh market" butcher case is often bottom of the barrel. I recently cooked a link of crumbled Italian sausage, and it was more than half gristle and fat. -flavorless chicken. -if you don't get food from the lunch bar in the first ten minutes, the asian food will have no protein because customers pick out the tiny bit they put out. -if you check the hot bar after 1:15, the salmon or chicken is practically jerky because it sat there all day. -they sell expired frozen food with some frequency. -the "fresh" rolls . . . aren't -they force you into self checkout, then make you wait for the attendant to verify you didn't sneak a ribeye into your 2-oz. salad bar box, . . . or to scan your coupon, . . . or to tell the register that yes, that scanned item is on the scale in the bag so stop yelling! . . . or to just make the dang thing work. - the shelves are arranged willy-nilly. You will not be able to intuitively find a non-featured item. Don't even try to buy canned pumpkin before late November, or only look for spices in the spice aisle (check the international aisle, the aisle between the freezer cases, and the ends of the bakery aisle (because smoked paprika should be with the rye bread?) - emphasis is on the delivery orders, so don't count on getting to the end of any aisle --- practice your U-turns. HT has eliminated all the features that made it worth putting up with their high prices: no more prepared meals, fewer brands as they take up shelves with their (not very good) store brand items, no more sale cheese when it nears expiration, no longer a pleasant shopping experience. They're counting on us not bringing back the rotten, expired, and damaged food they sell for a premium. It seems to be working -- during COVID, they were a top earner for the company. My one positive note: the pharmacy usually does a great job. read more

I will say that the "look" of this store is very nice and fresh. Plus they have a Starbucks which is a huge win. But this place is super crowded, often out of stock of basic items like onions for example, and quite frankly it's overpriced for no reason. I feel like their prices are somewhere between Whole Foods and Giant. Associates were very friendly and helpful and the store layout is good, but overall I don't really get the hype. The parking garage is 100% FREE. They still have electric car charging so I got to charge my car while I was shopping for free. They have two L-2 chargers. The parking lot was clean and free of abandoned shopping carts. It looks like they have a dedicated person for the carts now. The store was clean. They don't wipe or even sanitize the carts like other stores are doing now though. Nor did they even have wipes for the carts today. Also the shelves were barely stocked and no one was even stocking the store. Despite the shelves being next to empty. The employees level of class has went way down hill however since my last review and it's sad. The managers here treat you like trash almost when you're trying to use coupons. The general crowd is middle class. Mostly adults shopping. They have a armed guard now too at the door. Lastly. About 20% of the items rang up different prices then the shelf price. Because the workers that stock the store here are constantly just putting stuff anywhere. Also a lot of stuff that's cheaper elsewhere has very high markup at this store. I don't know why when other Harris teeter's are cheaper..... Do yourself a favor and either go to Annapolis or Boston st. read more

This is one of the nicer grocery stores in the area, with ample free parking. The inside is well lit and clean, and the produce section has some of the best selections of fruit and vegetables I've seen in a while. I like the HT brand spaghetti sauces, and the pre-rolled stuffed chicken. There was a brand of chicken pot pie I loved there, James Foods, though I've not been able to find it for some time. Harris Teeter has a better and more ample variety of the brands I enjoy that I usually find at Walmart. Unfortunately those brands are marked up $2-$3 more at Harris Teeter. Customer service is great, and during this trying time of Covid-19, this location has had the items I've needed to hole up in my house for a decent amount of time. As I'm stocking up my summer place with some supplies, I decided to come and check this place out. It was a short 15 minute drive from the Johns Hopkins area, and the place is not too crowded. I walked in and perused their many offerings. I got some mangoes (my favorite fruit), sports drinks, salmon, all-beef burger patties, poultry, various seasonings/marinades, and miscellaneous house supplies. Now I have the rest of the week to cook some delicious meals. I would like to thank Dave for showing me where everything is, and personally helping me pick out some good items. I've ordered several trays from Harris Teeter in California Maryland over the past 3 years I always got a round tray that had about 30 cannolis on it for $30 I ordered two for Sunday went to pick them up and they were on a square tray with 20 on each tray for the same price. I told her that's wrong they come back and tell me that for the last 3 years they've been using the wrong tray to put them on I'm so confused the sign says 99 Cents for a filled cannoli I get you have to pay something for the tray but $10 for a tray that probably cost a $1 then I send a email about my issue and she tells me to bring the cannolis back to the store for a refund really that's all you got ridiculous read more

Normally I would never leave a bad review like this, in fact this is the first review I've written on Yelp. After my experience here I just felt like I had to share. First, at the store I noticed that some of the limes looked pretty gross like they were molding. At first I wasnt going to mention that, but a few days later I also noticed that some romaine that I bought here had some flies and bugs inside of it. Never-ending disappointment at Harris Teeter. There is a huge population jump in this area but this place is just not adjusting. Total first world problems, I know, but this is not some place that I want to go to. Often they are out of simple items, frozen broccoli, certain cuts of chicken, and types of veggies and it always makes me really unhappy. I actually have stopped coming here unless i have to, even though I can walk here from my house. Instead I go to a grocery store by where I work and happily get all of my items and have a short wait in a checkout line. I would never recommend coming here during the lunch rush or on weekends. For those of you who have been here, you know what I mean. The last thing I will complain about are new items. This store really lacks vegan items and organic items. This isn't the store to go to for that. I wish Harris Teeter would adapt a little bit to the trends but they haven't. I've actually written to them before inquiring about vegan brands such as Daiya with no response. Employees are nice but there never seems to be enough. read more

Baltimore doesn't have nearly enough grocery stores throughout the city, and this is one of the stores with the best produce. Everything is fresh and in pretty good shape, and I don't have to sift through a bunch of damaged fruit to find something that's in decent shape. I love the giant cheese section, and I've always been able to find what I need, even if it's a bit obscure. Cleanliness is also really important to me, and the store is basically spotless. The staff is also really kind and friendly - I had a particularly kind cashier named Craig tonight that made my shopping experience really lovely. I left the store on a very positive note. A few other nice bonuses - the LED lighting in displays is really nice, and free parking in a garage is nice! I haven't used the pickup or delivery yet, but I definitely plan to soon! read more

Stopped after visiting another business in the area, had to pick up 4-5 items. Produce is plentiful and fresh. Deli is relatively quick with many choices of deli meats and pre-made items. The bakery also has many fresh breads to chose from and other desserts that look amazing. The place didn't seem busy until checkout. Lines were long even at the self checkout. Only 5 lanes open with cashiers which led to very very long lines. Asked if more checkout lines would open but was told they had limited cashiers. Ended up returning items and left. I love this place. The grocery selection is abundant and varied with delicious fruits and even uncommon vegetables. I can find broccoli sprouts (great as an anti- inflammatory for the gut as I just read online) and 9.99/ pound shiitake mushrooms! Whoop whoop shroom shroom! Their meat selection is great and I can get steaks butchered at my request. Some of the best short ribs I've seen at any supermarket. They have a great selection of cereals, processed goods (I try to limit but I love snacks) and wonderful seltzer section. There is also a beer and wine shop attached as well as a pharmacy where I got my flu shot. How convenient? Thursday's are $9.99 prime rib night. Oh boy. read more

When I lived in the Howard County area, I decided Harris Teeter was alright. A little expensive, but alright. The people were colloquial and it was open 24 hours or close to it. The location was convenient because you have to get to anywhere in that County by car anyway. Then I moved back to the city and visited this Harris Teeter. I like the free parking. But no, man, I'm not spending that much on toilet paper when I can drive to the hell that is the Target in Canton and get toilet paper slightly cheaper. Or get it in bulk at BJs. Whiskey tango foxtrot, Harris Teeter. For all those people that think only the bougiest of bougie folk shop at Whole Foods, you're wrong. These people shop at Harris Teeter and act like it's normal-priced. I'd rather shop at Whole Foods, for real. The only other place I've shopped that's more expensive is The Fresh Market, and don't even get me started on that. However, Harris Teeter over here has it's place. If I'm at the bank or something and need some minor things like a loaf of bread or deli meats, I'll get it here. Some of their prepared foods are good. If you're a prepster living in Downtown Baltimore, you might just love this. It's a few minutes down Key Highway past the American Visionary Art Museum (if you take 95 N out of the city, it's even faster). I'm talking to the crowd that wants an alternative to places like Whole Foods in Harbor East or Wegman's in Hunt Valley. Meaning: price isn't an issue for you. Location: the best thing about it. Gives those in West Baltimore areas another option since Safeway had closed down a few years ago. Plus, there's even a Yogi Castle and Red Parrot in the same complex! Interior: feels like a fancy grocery store, very pleasant. There's an upstairs cafe seating and some tables downstairs too. Food: expect the standard grocery store foods plus organic options usually found at Whole Foods. Love the discounted veggies section! Unlike certain places that put expired, almost moldy fruit in those sections, I have gotten $1 bags of ripened mangoes and avocados (4-5 each bag) that were definitely still good. Food Bar: the pizza bar is probably the best deal at $2-3 a slice of gourmet and quarter-sized slices. I got some food from the hot and Asian sections...maybe it was 7pmish--the noodles and rice were...crunchy. Not much better than what you can get at any hot food bar in a grocery store--I'd skip it next time as it was $7.99/lb. Their sushi variety is broad but encased by too thick a layer of rice in my opinion. Clientele: similar to Whole Foods, appears to be a high number of preppy white and Asian people, many of which could pass for J.Crew models. A multi level free parking garage is directly across the street. Plus plus! Clean and organized with friendly workers. Many options and food bars available like an olive bar, antipasto, salad and hot foods. The wine/liquor store is connected to the store as well. I love the free samples that don the store...from fruits to dips...That'll sell me any day lol. They also serve lunch and dinner meals as soon as you enter the store. I've sampled their fried cod nuggets with some kind of pasta dish and both were yummy. Had to pass on the $9.99 price mark. I've seen them serving prime rib with veggies and potatoes for dinner on one occasion. The pharmacy is upstairs by way of steps or the elevator. WOW this place is shoppers meets whole foods! I have never been to a Harris Teeter and I was worried that it would be too expensive or have a small selection but i was wrong on both ends. They basically have all the regular brands of typical grovery items PLUS organic/upscale brands. The typical brand prices are not jacked up and they have similar sales to Shoppers prices. The selection is fabulous. They have an extensive "meals to go" area with fresh made sushi, pizza, asian bar, american bar, etc. Their bakery also looks amazing. The Cellars is a booze shop connected inside to Harris Teeter. The beer and wine selections were both extensive and I won't need to go anywhere else! This place is clean and fresh with an upstairs pharmacy and sitting area. The only small thing is I wish they had water cups/water dispenser. Will be back time and again! read more

They never have the meat/poultry shown in the sale ads in stock when I go in which is usually late afternoon/early evening and I shouldn't have to go in the early morning to get some. I like Harris Teeter. My first experience was when I lived in North Carolina, and I was hooked. It can get a bit pricey, but with their coupon doubling, you can save heaps of dough. I can't lie, the main draw for me is the salad bar. I've perfected a way of making a pound salad delicious and satisfying. They have some great choices to really give you a diverse range of flavors (I know this sounds weird for a description of a salad bar). Been here countless times building salads for lunch and dinner. The breakfast bar, on the other hand, is most definitely worth skipping. Maybe I don't go early enough, but the food looks blah. I've also not been too impressed with their pizza.
