Iron Rooster...oh how I love thee. My experience, no matter who the Server might be, no matter who is the Host/Greeter, is always a good experience. As a fan of Breakfast Food, Iron Rooster doesn't disappoint. No matter what my requests are, they accommodate me. It's one of the few places that consistently gets the eggs right! They also accommodate me by adding their Honey Old Bay sauce to my chicken (it was on the menu at one time, is no longer displayed, but still available). I normally get a seat at the bar at there's always some sport event they're showing, which creates the "I'm at home" vibe. Although other locations exist, and I'm sure they are just as good, the Hunt Valley location rocks. If you looking for a good Breakfast/Brunch location, try Iron Rooster. I've been to the College Park Iron Rooster many times and have always had great experiences, so this visit to the Hunt Valley location was incredibly disappointing. We came in with a party of eight, and the first impression was terrible. Our server seemed reluctant to take our table until he confirmed he could automatically add gratuity. I have no problem tipping well for good service, but making us feel like a burden before we even sat down set the tone for the entire meal. After taking our drink order, he dropped off a pitcher of water and coffee, took our food order, and essentially disappeared. We never got checked on. No drink refills, no "How's everything tasting?"--nothing. To make matters worse, my son's bowl of chili didn't arrive until about 15 minutes after everyone else had already been served. By then, the rest of us were nearly finished eating. No apology, no explanation, no effort to make it right. The entire experience felt like the goal was simply to take our order, drop off the food, and hand us the check as quickly as possible. Large parties deserve attentive service too, especially when an automatic gratuity is already being added. We've always enjoyed the College Park location, but based on this experience, we won't be returning to Hunt Valley. Food is good. For the most part, dishes have great flavors and plated well. Service is another story. When we walked in, it was not busy. There isn't a lot of attentiveness and apparently communication either. A server took our order and then another showed and seemed bewildered that someone had already taken our order because it was her section. First coffee we got wasn't really more than room temperature, but we let that slide, mainly because it seemed like few servers. Our breakfasts showed hot, but then our server disappeared. We wanted refills and ended up asking the bewildered server to bring us coffee. She disappeared. Original server showed back up with the check and we asked her for coffee. She left the check, said she'd be back and she disappeared. Other girl showed with the pot about 10 minutes later. This is not the first time that we have been here this has happened. Not sure it's a training issue or lack of staff. I'd hate to be here with it busier. We had breakfast at Iron Rooster on a Saturday morning. The food itself was pretty good, but everything else about the experience was disappointing. The coffee was honestly the worst I've ever tasted. I added eight packs of sugar and it was still extremely bitter -- it tasted like it had been sitting overnight. That alone set a bad tone, but the atmosphere made things worse. The dining area felt dark and dreary, and the bathrooms were filthy. My wife said the ladies' room was nasty and the floor was sticky. Most of the bench cushions were frayed and cracking, and the old wooden tables looked like they could be harboring a colony of bacteria. I watched our waiter -- who was also bussing tables -- clean each table with a single towelette. Even when my wife spilled syrup, he used just one. It felt like there must be a "one‑towelette rule," which is not reassuring for cleanliness. Celebrating a birthday with Tuesday morning breakfast and cocktails was a great way to start the day. Our server was Kirsten U and she was amazing. Hearing about the birthday she offered a free Berry Rootart which was scrumptious - lots of berries and that familiar Pop-Tart fried dough flavor - yummers! I placed my order online received the text my order was ready I go in to get my order off the to go shelve and my food is not there no problem. But there is no one at the host desk and not a person in sight. I wait 10 minutes with other customers for someone to show. I see a waitress at the bar on her phone so I ask if she can get my order and she looked at me like I was bothering her. A guy who I assume was the manager comes out with two bags I ask is that my order he gives me attitude and tells me to walk back to the front door. Honestly, I think management needs to retrain the staff, as I'd don't feel the servers were intentionally obtuse, I think they just didn't know better? Examples- we were served food with no silverware, waffles with no syrup, bottomless coffee was hard to track down. Took a while for us to even get water. Within 3-4 minutes of being seated, we should've had water on the table. Had a reservation which was honored. Started w/ a brown sugar pop tart which was delicious and probably the meal highlight. I got an eggs Benedict which was good, potatoes were cold. Overall, the food was fine but the staff needs help. I'm here from a suggestion by a friend. After reading a few Yelp reviews, I cringed. Let's hope this is my best dining experience this trip. :-) The wait is 20-30 minutes for a party of three. The time went fast. I love the spacious entrance and decor. I pray everything else measures up. The was a great first time experience from the greeter, to our server Kirstin, to meeting the Chef Caleb and new Front End Manager Nick. Everyone enjoyed their meal. I had looked at the menu in advance to see what I had a taste for. I ordered the Breakfast Combo with bacon, scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese and 1/2 a waffle. Everything was tasty and the eggs were so fluffy. I peeped on the menu that if you followed them on any social media platform you'd get free bacon. Well!! Kirstin walked me through finding them on instagram. That 4 free strips of bacon completed my meal. The Chef was serving guests their meals and even assisting other servers. We stopped him to express our appreciation of the meal. He was very personable. Kirsten was attentive throughout our dining experience. The restroom was presentable. The orange makes it bright. On the way out I shared with a staff member how pleased I was especially after some of the reviews I had read. It turned out he was the Front End manager. He was moving the entire time making sure everything flowed. He even took our picture when asked by my friend and closed the shade to avoid a glare. That's going the extra step. We've been ordering breakfast for delivery from Iron Rooster for years. I've been in for lunch, but never breakfast. We had family in town and decided to try it out. We were seated quickly but it took about 10mins for someone to come to our table. We had a toddler, so it felt like a lifetime (iykyk). We ordered everything at once and they didn't write anything down, so inevitably a few things came out wrong. Which was fine with me bc mine was right and my family that got wrong orders didn't feel like saying anything. My food was delicious, I got the brisket hash. It was lacking a little zazz, so I put their fire honey on it and wow, it slayed. We got my son the face pancake, which he usually gets. I asked about the mini roostart that comes with it and she said, all the kids meals come with it except that one. Which annoyed me a little bit bc when you order for delivery it comes with one, so why would you get less for coming in to eat? Idk. Another thing that was annoying was we didn't get waters and we got no refills on drinks. We will try another location next time or just stick to ordering in bc we do enjoy the food. read more

I made reservations for 6 of us at 2p on a Sunday, thinking that's an off peak time. Nope, place is packed and people are waiting to get seated. So, I guess this place is popular? A few us were early and checked in at the front station. One complaint is the staff at the front were not helpful or really nice. They really rubbed us the wrong way while we tried to check in. One girl started to say "John, party of 6..." but was interrupted by a to go order I think. We stood there for a min or two, and tried to ask another man who was there about our seating, but he was abrupt and just said we'll let you know when your table is ready. We eventually got seated in the back. One last complaint about the front is that two of our party came right at 2p and asked about my reservation, and was told they couldn't find it. If I didn't text them, they were lost. Ok now to the food and service. This part was all great. I didn't get pictures of what everyone had. I had the cajun shrimp Benny, and it was delicious. Also had a tequila Kahlua coffee that was also great. Other dishes that people were very satisfied with include the burger burger, an omelet, and the classic Benny. All were great. Our waitress was very helpful, nice, and attentive. Place started to thin out, so if trying to avoid crowds or don't have a reservation, try coming later in the afternoon. This was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. I ordered shrimp and grits and specifically asked for no cheese or meat due to dietary restrictions. While waiting, I ordered a bottle of brut for mimosas. Everyone else in my party received their meals, but mine never came. My wife and I stopped by here on a Tuesday morning and could not have been more pleased. We got a starter of the breakfast egg rolls which were great, nice and hot, and I followed that with the chicken and waffles smothered in pepper gravy sauce. She got the breakfast quesadilla. I ordered a 'breakfast bowl' cocktail which I have to admit was a little disappointing, just a pint of hefeweizen beer served with a shot glass on the side of jameson whisky and orange juice. Considering it was a standard sized shot glass, I'm guess for the price I got maybe .5 ounces of whiskey and 1 ounce of OJ, definitely not worth the huge markup but live and learn. We topped it off with one of the Brown Sugar RoosTart which could have been a meal in and of itself. It was basically a 'home made' frosted brown sugar pop tart served drizzled with brown sugar syrup and a side of whipped cream. It was divine, and now we'll have to go back just so we can try out some of their other varieties. One of the best facets of our visit was our server, Jaelyn, who was by far one of the best servers we're had ANYWHERE in a long time. I had the big brunch bowl without pico de gallo. I substituted scrambled eggs for fried eggs. It's a lot of food and very filling- consider sharing with someone. I was uncomfortably full after eating the entire bowl of food. I can't visit Iron Rooster without getting a brown sugar roostart. I could only eat two bites because I was so full from the big brunch bowl but it was delicious. Service wasn't great. Our server hardly ever came to our table and our check was wrong. When we asked for clarification on the price of items on our check, we were met with an attitude. She tried to explain that the prices on the menu, which were the same prices that she said when she told us about the morning happy hour, were incorrect. I love how large this Iron Rooster is compared to other ones. It is surprising that they have any wait times because the seating is so vast, indoor and outdoor seating (warmer seasons) is available. My son & I checked out this spot last weekend, and I must say it was definitely the place to be. Opening day of the Ravens, the last day of the state fair, and overcast weather allowed us to get right in and be seated without the anticipated weekend brunch crowds. The restaurant has a nice spacious dining area and a relaxed and comfy family vibe. But the main attraction was the food!! We'd give it a 10 out of 10. We had the waffle churros, the big brisket hash bowl and the chicken and pancakes. The portions were plentiful and the meals were delicious.
