Mia's Bakery in Park Slope, Brooklyn is one of two locations. The other being Times Square, which is a bit more expensive given the location. It's a tiny bakery but its long display of fresh baked goodies are to drool for. I've tried two of their cakes: Nutella cake and the burnt almond cake. The Nutella cake is everything you can imagine in a chocolate , Nutella cake. Everyone loved it. While I'm not a big almond fan, the almond cake was fresh and moist, layered with almond mousse that wasn't too sweet. I'm not crazy about almonds but the cake was pretty good. They offer convenient online ordering and pickup was quick and easy. I was in and out of the bakery with my cake in less than 10 mins. Prices are standard are similar to Martha's Country Bakery. Much of the offerings are similar as well. I love Martha's so I'm hoping Mia's will continue to live up to the standards because Mia's is much closer than Martha's. The ham and cheese, and turkey and cheese croissants are great. The cake slices are also great, sometimes they are cold but that's ok. I usually come in the morning, around 7:30 or 8 am. Delightful bakery and sit in dessert spot with an amazing variety of American desserts. I spied over 10 different flavors of cupcakes, cheesecakes, tarts, cookies, pies, and sliced cakes. My friend and I were quickly seated at a table and ordered a slice of blueberry cheesecake and 2 rainbow cookies to share. The dessert tasted really fresh! I was surprised that they were able to maintain such a big selection without serving up leftovers from previous days. Thirty minutes before my scheduled pickup time (11:30 a.m.), I received a call informing me that the location did not have my cake due to delivery issues that had been ongoing since 7 a.m. Not only was this last-minute notification unacceptable, but the lack of proactive communication was also highly unprofessional. A second call followed, during which I was told they could drop the cake off at our office--something that might have worked had we not been heading to lunch to celebrate our colleague, where the cake was needed. I was then told they could bring the cake to the restaurant and call me to come outside to retrieve it, requiring me to leave the celebration to accommodate their logistical issues. I had to walk out of lunch twice just to check on where the cake was, and the person who delivered didn't call upon delivery as they ensured they would do. The entire experience demonstrated a concerning lack of organization, accountability, and customer consideration. Unfortunately, based on this interaction, I cannot recommend Mia's to anyone seeking reliable service, especially for important occasions. read more

I love this bakery. Open to 12am most days. Everything is delicious. My favorite are the rainbow cookies. So flavorful and delicate, moist and light. I also love the orange cake. Mia's Bakery is wonderful! :) I stopped by after a long day of walking, where my mom ordered the slice of Strawberry Shortcake and I had a slice of the vegan Raspberry Cake. My mom says this is one of the best strawberry shortcakes she has eaten in her life!! The vegan raspberry slice was pretty delicious as well! I am also a sucker for the cutesy heart decoration!!! I just wish the slice was a comparable size to their non-vegan slices, but the flavor and presentation are still really nice! I think my only complaint is the price. I think the $8.25 per slice and general pastry selection prices are comparable to most nyc bakeries. BUT I do have a problem with charging $5 for one glass of milk... Recommended to me by a coworker, and this place is hyped up for a REASON. It's delicious here. Every item is decadent and beautifully made. Their chocolate cakes don't taste artificial or sickly sweet, or syrupy. These desserts are really top-tier. Everything I've ever bought here, whether it was to dine in or to take out for a special occasion, has never disappointed. The displays are packed with stunning desserts from cupcakes to full size cakes, to all other kinds of sweet goodies. The servers keep everything moving which is so amazing considering the inside of this bakery is always packed! Be wary, if you get overstimulated easily, this place might put you on edge when you first step inside so be prepared to wade through a bunch of people when you first go through the entrance. Walk in a bit further past the crowds if you want to dine in. The drinks are not the best in my opinion. The coffee drinks aren't exactly accurate, a latte here has way too much foam and is more like a cappuccino. They charge you $5 for a glass of milk which is ridiculous. But besides this, their desserts are really tasty and they do try to put great care in serving their customers in a timely manner but it gets busy so sometimes you might get overlooked or have to wait awhile but I personally have never had a super long wait time, as they keep the lines in the front moving as quickly as possible. But due to the fast pace, you might not get that warm and friendly, individually catered, bakery experience. If you don't care for the fluff and just want your desserts, then this place is right up your alley. I don't visit this place frequently so I cannot speak on daily or even weekly consistency but every few months, I come back for the same few desserts and cake slices and have not experienced much fluctuation between these visits. I recommend trying them out for yourself. You're surely to find something that you like and enjoy and during off peak hours, sit inside and experience a dine in as well. My husband and I enjoyed coming here for date night in the beginning of our relationship so we have fond memories of this place. read more

The best decision ever !!! It's small, so if they have a rush hour, I will recommend just order to go, but we went during lunch hour and it was pretty good. I ordered a $250 custom cake for my birthday. When I came to pick it up, we decided we wanted to order some cappuccino and have the cake there. The employee in the front told me to pick a table and then they'd serve us the cake. The waitress came and refused to serve us the cake. According to her, that's a "special service that they don't offer", which I truly don't understand. She said that would qualify as an event even though there were only 2 of us at the table and said we could only order pre-cut slices of cake. I honestly have never heard of such a thing in my life but whatever. They brought out the cake boxed up and it was gorgeous. However, I immediately noticed that it was missing my name and some of the happy birthday letters were already melting and falling off as you can see in the photo. I also noticed the box was WAY too big for the cake and it was sliding all over and getting smushed. If you look at the photo, you can see that they try to tape it in place but didn't do a very good job. They told me they couldn't put my name on it because the chef left and that they didn't have any other boxes. The manager came out and told me this is the only box they have and that it's up to me to just make sure I hold it up straight on the way home. I'm sorry but all of that is ridiculous. The cake is beautiful and delicious, which is why I gave it 2 stars but their service is poor. Also... the macarons on top were peppermint, which completely clashed with the Red Velvet flavor. You'd think that if you spend $250 on a CUSTOM cake that they'd at least make sure to customize every aspect of it and make sure it's secured in an appropriately sized box. read more
