    Sichuan Cold Noodles (V)*
    Scarlett H.

So glad to see this franchise opened a location on the west side! I think they're the first to take the Sichuan cuisine and turned it into a "formula" operation- to me this means you no longer have to drive to Chinatown or San Gabriel Valley, or find a small mom and Pop restaurant owned by someone from that part of the world. But what's more meaningful is the quality is now standardized, and the prices are much more affordable! We came to try their beef noodle soup and their dumplings. I have to say their beef noodle soup was very authentic! The wontons (called Chao Shou, which is what they are called in some parts of China) were excellent. If you like Chinese noodles or dumplings, or if you are a fan of Ding Tai Feng, you could come to this place and your money would buy you a lot more food! But don't expect the high end, decor or service in some of the more expensive places, this is an affordable and fast service type of place! With today's inflated prices in many restaurants, I think this is cheap eats at its best! My number one recommendation is their beef rib noodle soup; their dry noodles are also excellent; for dumplings, I recommend the pork flavor; and lastly, their mung bean drink is very refreshing. West Adams seems to be in the process of being gentrified, but it's still a mixed commercial and residential area. So at this writing (2025) parking seems pretty easy to find, don't know how long that's gonna last, however.

I tried the Mapo Tofu Noodles! I honestly wasn't that impressed by the dish but it still tasted good! The portions were a bit small and the spice could have been a lot stronger for me. I just don't think I have a reason to come back when I've enjoyed mapo tofu more in other places!

I had forgotten about MIAN in West Adams with all the new restaurants opening in the last few years so it was time to go back. Parking is not great as West Adams is busy and the side streets nearby are residential and pretty full with locals. Easy to get a table and via QR code all the food and drink is ready to go when you are - Started with the chili oil dumplings - first bite I was confused at the lack of flavor. But then we let them sit in the sauce for a few minutes and there it was, a really nice heat without overpowering the dumplings. Beef in chili sauce - we didn't realize it was cold - but had that good spicy tingle that you get from the Sichuan peppers. It was almost like a jerky, just not as chewy. The Kung Pao chicken was super fresh and moist with a perfect amount of heat and we finished off with the spicy beef soup noodles. Sort of ramen, sort of brisket, lots of great flavor! Price are reasonable (how often do you say that these days) and we'll be back again to try some additional dishes. *Quick tip - you can adjust not only the spiciness of the dishes but also the 'numb' which is really fun to mix/match.

Stepped in to try this out and for the price and convenience, there's something here folks that just works. Ordered their spicy dumplings for a starter and their spicy beef noodle bowl. All were excellent and delivered pretty authentic flavors. Service is QR code based and minimizes interaction with humans, which in this case just works. Layout is low lighting and easy for quick pick up. The place clearly gets a lot of online orders and fulfillment bags are scattered in the front. Service is quick and good. Bathrooms are clean and efficient. Cool spot.

Excellent! We will definitively be back. Easy parking at the time of day we went (4pm Sat). The staff is friendly. The menu is a Qr code. The restaurant is clean and decor is simple and clean. I do wished they had at least one booth or something of the sort - so my husband with back problems could enjoy. He would enjoyed the restaurant.... The best thing I was able to do was to take a short rib spicy noodle soup. He loved and enjoyed! It was VERY well packed-up (noodles separated from the broth and the meet). For also had the sampler appetizers... they were excellent and highly recommend. Note: they have lunch special combos and today they had the special that noodles were $

For starters, staff were very rude. I'm not one to complain, but customer service is a lost art. What really pushed me to write this review was the BUG I found in my soup. The BOTTOM of my soup. Absolutely disgusting. 0 out of 10.

I stopped by for lunch and for the first time I didn't have the beef noodle soup. We opted for trying other dishes - fried rice, orange chicken and kung pao chicken. For the starter we had the pan fried dumpling which I highly recommend. Everything else was mediocre. I wasn't impressed. Service is always just so-so. I was also disappointed that they took off their lunch special from the menu - not sure if it's still worth it for lunch but the prices are good for dinner. I might want to check out their happy hour since it's 50% beers and 20% off noodle dishes. Their beef noodle soups are very good. The back parking behind the restaurant is no longer available so the only option is street parking. during lunch it's very easy but in the evening it can be a bit more difficult to find parking.

Place is nicely lit but the music is a bit too loud for my tastes. The food and service was great, though. I got the rib soup and the soup was great, just the rib wasnt fall apart tender opposed to other soupy ribs I've had. They don't charge extra to substitute for rice noodles so that's great! I'll definitely be back to try their other soups.

Known for its Sichuan noodles, Mian serves up a bunch of bold flavors in its wontons, soups, and more. Most of their food has spice, so if you enjoy spice, this spot is for you. Even though I'm not good with spicy food, I still enjoy Mian just fine. The inside has plenty of seating, and parking outside can be tough in the residential area. The Clear Broth Noodle Soup was tasty and plentiful. The soup is simple but does the job. Also, one of my other favorites is the Chengdu fried rice. It comes with onion, mixed vegetables, ginger, red pepper and more. The soup and a side of this rice definitely complement each other. I would also try the wontons too!

Like, one time I was watching Project Runway, a season finale episode, where the designers make their own creations, and do not have to make their ensembles from shredded newspaper or bird seeds or pinata remnants. And after a so-and-so of the fashion industry said, "I wanted to go and rip that jacket off the model." This other time, I saw a poster for a coming musical and it said, "stop everything you are doing, and go this musical now" says this important person in the theathre world. What am I am trying to say is that the comment I wanted to do this immediately or drop everything and do this immediately is so overwrought and widely used that it lost all meaning. Kind of like calling this place an institution. So I will call this place what I should to not be drown in my own trite. One time I went to this place and I went cause I was invited to a birthday party. And it was a large group of people. Me and a friend debated if Penny, from the Big Bang, had eaten at this place. She was also in Charmed--- it is a household name, I can't remember it. So this place is famous enough to be a go to move, and it has many pictures of celebrities that have gone there. The food is also super good, so this place, like I said is an insititution. When I went there a second time, I was more aware of the place I was visiting and kind of was ready to receive its Chinese fare with an unhinged jaw. I was dining with a friend, the same friend that I had the is that Penny from Big Bang debate? It was not. She eventually one. But like she and I ate here again, without knowing we were going to the same place. I would say its a small world but.... She and I ate with gusto. It does not take a lot to know that the speciality of the house is their slippery shrimp. They also have slippery chicken and slippery tofu. Super good, sweet, sour but it was not sweet and sour sauce shrimp, it had differences. I am not sure what. There were some heat notes but not like terrible heat. So I am not exactly sure what this place does to make their slippery sauce but let us just that it was delicious and different than other Chinese food sauces. Ronnie and I had the works. Rice, Beef with Brocoli, Pan fried dumplings, and dumpings. It was the type of Chinese food that was so good a coke was needed to balance the decadent saltiness of the fare. Yeah, that might not make sense but I wrote what I wrote. We had eniugh food to share between the two of us. It was that type of meal, where leftovers were welcomed and made sense. They were not left over, they were left untouched because it would be a shame to not enjoy them later. The service was great. The place felt traditional, and like it took you to an alley in China to eat a grandmother's food who knows how to use a Wok and pinch dumplings so they stay close for good. I saw this bad review that skewered this place. And I am like wow! How can we be so different. Not like Ying and Yang Different, more like flutter and flatten. But taste is subjective, so decide for yourself if this place is a peacock worthy of its feathers or a tiger with its claws clipped.

It was a but busy when we got there but luckily we got seared pretty shortly after arrival. We originally wanted to sit at the bar, but opted for a table for less wait time. When first looking at the menu we were shocked by the prices. I knew immediately i wanted to get the hui tou potstikers with pork and noodles. We ended up adding on the hongkong style wontons too. To my suprise the wontons arrived in a delicious and warm broth, keeping them perfectly moist and plump. The broth was so delicious even on a hot day, tasting faintly of sesame and scallion. Despite both dishes being pork they were so different and equally amazing in flavor. The pan fried potstikers which were CRISPED TO PERFECTION especially reminded me of black bean shortribs that you get from dimsum, fatty but hearty and had me wanting more and more each bite. The minced pork noodles were to no suprise, so good. Noodles tasted fresh, the sauce was umami with mushrooms and pork. While im not the biggest fan of mushrooms, i still ate it up. I feel it would be so good with some picked cabbage too to complement the saltiness. Most notable thing... THAT CHILI OIL. We probably used almost half the jar left at the table. It wasnt spicy at all, but it had this flavor that i genuinely have never tasted before. The texture of the chilli and sesame and the nutty flavor had me in awe. Enough to take two jars home... i would do it again. Servers were so quick, made sure everything we needed was at the table. Regardless of the crowd we were met with promptness and generosity. The way it's set up is pretty cultural. It reminds me of some hole-in-the-wall Asian restaurant the way they have metal utensils at each table. We tried a variety of dishes to get a fuller understanding of their menu of what this place has to offer. I was really looking forward to the beef roll because it's usually one of my favorite dishes, but this one was disappointing. I define a good beef roll as one that's a good mix of sweet, savory and refreshing. The meat makes it savory and the veggies are supposed to counter it make the whole dish feel light. If someone disagrees with me, please share your thoughts on what a beef roll should taste like. The one from Pine & Crane was drenched in sauce. I could not taste the meat or the veggies and the whole thing tasted like a stick of sugar. The mapo tofu was on point, but this is quality you can probably make at home. The flavor profile was very similar to that of stuff you'd get a grocery store. The three cup jidori chicken came recommended, so we tried it. The flavor is very pungent and goes well with rice.
