    Happy hour menu

Located on Adams and redondo blvd. You could miss it if you go fast and there is street parking. A friend mentioned this place raving about their fries. I went by to visit It was a nice space and seating are wooden benches. The menu is on a QR code. Love the set up though. Service was quick, I ordered fries with a noodle dish that had meat. The fries were good, had a nice Cajun seasoning to it. The noodle dish with the meat was heavy. Maybe ill try something different next time. I ordered a drink but it was ok.

I tried the Mapo Tofu Noodles! I honestly wasn't that impressed by the dish but it still tasted good! The portions were a bit small and the spice could have been a lot stronger for me. I just don't think I have a reason to come back when I've enjoyed mapo tofu more in other places!

I had forgotten about MIAN in West Adams with all the new restaurants opening in the last few years so it was time to go back. Parking is not great as West Adams is busy and the side streets nearby are residential and pretty full with locals. Easy to get a table and via QR code all the food and drink is ready to go when you are - Started with the chili oil dumplings - first bite I was confused at the lack of flavor. But then we let them sit in the sauce for a few minutes and there it was, a really nice heat without overpowering the dumplings. Beef in chili sauce - we didn't realize it was cold - but had that good spicy tingle that you get from the Sichuan peppers. It was almost like a jerky, just not as chewy. The Kung Pao chicken was super fresh and moist with a perfect amount of heat and we finished off with the spicy beef soup noodles. Sort of ramen, sort of brisket, lots of great flavor! Price are reasonable (how often do you say that these days) and we'll be back again to try some additional dishes. *Quick tip - you can adjust not only the spiciness of the dishes but also the 'numb' which is really fun to mix/match.

For starters, staff were very rude. I'm not one to complain, but customer service is a lost art. What really pushed me to write this review was the BUG I found in my soup. The BOTTOM of my soup. Absolutely disgusting. 0 out of 10.

Excellent! We will definitively be back. Easy parking at the time of day we went (4pm Sat). The staff is friendly. The menu is a Qr code. The restaurant is clean and decor is simple and clean. I do wished they had at least one booth or something of the sort - so my husband with back problems could enjoy. He would enjoyed the restaurant.... The best thing I was able to do was to take a short rib spicy noodle soup. He loved and enjoyed! It was VERY well packed-up (noodles separated from the broth and the meet). For also had the sampler appetizers... they were excellent and highly recommend. Note: they have lunch special combos and today they had the special that noodles were $

I stopped by for lunch and for the first time I didn't have the beef noodle soup. We opted for trying other dishes - fried rice, orange chicken and kung pao chicken. For the starter we had the pan fried dumpling which I highly recommend. Everything else was mediocre. I wasn't impressed. Service is always just so-so. I was also disappointed that they took off their lunch special from the menu - not sure if it's still worth it for lunch but the prices are good for dinner. I might want to check out their happy hour since it's 50% beers and 20% off noodle dishes. Their beef noodle soups are very good. The back parking behind the restaurant is no longer available so the only option is street parking. during lunch it's very easy but in the evening it can be a bit more difficult to find parking.

Place is nicely lit but the music is a bit too loud for my tastes. The food and service was great, though. I got the rib soup and the soup was great, just the rib wasnt fall apart tender opposed to other soupy ribs I've had. They don't charge extra to substitute for rice noodles so that's great! I'll definitely be back to try their other soups.

Known for its Sichuan noodles, Mian serves up a bunch of bold flavors in its wontons, soups, and more. Most of their food has spice, so if you enjoy spice, this spot is for you. Even though I'm not good with spicy food, I still enjoy Mian just fine. The inside has plenty of seating, and parking outside can be tough in the residential area. The Clear Broth Noodle Soup was tasty and plentiful. The soup is simple but does the job. Also, one of my other favorites is the Chengdu fried rice. It comes with onion, mixed vegetables, ginger, red pepper and more. The soup and a side of this rice definitely complement each other. I would also try the wontons too!

I visited there on the weekend, there were about 2 tables. The pork noodle dish was just too salty, like someone bombards with lots of spice without any cooking sense. I didn't eat much cuz it was just too salty. I had previously visited the branch in San Gabriel before, so I had the same noodle dish. For the dumpling, I forgot which one I had at other branch, I told about it to the waiter, and he recommended me dumpling in chili sauce. The dumpling was too oily and greasy, i just bit just tiny bit of 1 dumpling and realized that I couldn't eat it, so I asked waiter if I can replace it with something else, he went to the chef and seems like chef was mad at me, didn't want to replace it. I was quite shocked cuz it was tiny small dumpling and the restaurant was pretty empty, the waiters just talking and chatting.. the chef didn't have much work to do. Anyway, I wouldn't visit again here, seems like they don't care for their customers.

Stepped in to try this out and for the price and convenience, there's something here folks that just works. Ordered their spicy dumplings for a starter and their spicy beef noodle bowl. All were excellent and delivered pretty authentic flavors. Service is QR code based and minimizes interaction with humans, which in this case just works. Layout is low lighting and easy for quick pick up. The place clearly gets a lot of online orders and fulfillment bags are scattered in the front. Service is quick and good. Bathrooms are clean and efficient. Cool spot.

Upon entering we were greeted and taken to our seats and the waiter showed us how to order with the QR code. After exploring the menu, we decided on Chicken Katsu, pickled cucumber, chicken dumplings, Five Spice peanuts, spicy beef noodle, and Numb noodle dishes. We couldn't get enough of the peanuts and cucumber, which seems to be a good sign. It indeed was! Each of our items were delicious as we shared family style. The Numb noodle had a funny effect, which became overwhelming and didn't allow my friend to finish the meal. I thoroughly enjoyed my beef noodle soup and was delighted with how cilantro offered a fresh herby with the earthier and meaty broth. The katsu was seasoned well and its accompanying sauce served as a delight with the chicken dumplings as well. We arrived around 6:15 pm and as time went on, the restaurant became busier and each entree's distinct scent deliciously filled the space. Next time I'll sit at the counter for a different perspective.

It was a but busy when we got there but luckily we got seared pretty shortly after arrival. We originally wanted to sit at the bar, but opted for a table for less wait time. When first looking at the menu we were shocked by the prices. I knew immediately i wanted to get the hui tou potstikers with pork and noodles. We ended up adding on the hongkong style wontons too. To my suprise the wontons arrived in a delicious and warm broth, keeping them perfectly moist and plump. The broth was so delicious even on a hot day, tasting faintly of sesame and scallion. Despite both dishes being pork they were so different and equally amazing in flavor. The pan fried potstikers which were CRISPED TO PERFECTION especially reminded me of black bean shortribs that you get from dimsum, fatty but hearty and had me wanting more and more each bite. The minced pork noodles were to no suprise, so good. Noodles tasted fresh, the sauce was umami with mushrooms and pork. While im not the biggest fan of mushrooms, i still ate it up. I feel it would be so good with some picked cabbage too to complement the saltiness. Most notable thing... THAT CHILI OIL. We probably used almost half the jar left at the table. It wasnt spicy at all, but it had this flavor that i genuinely have never tasted before. The texture of the chilli and sesame and the nutty flavor had me in awe. Enough to take two jars home... i would do it again. Servers were so quick, made sure everything we needed was at the table. Regardless of the crowd we were met with promptness and generosity. This that wonton place your girl tells you not to worry about forreal. Will be coming back despite the long drive from home.

That was my first mistake -- they don't even serve mu shu pork. That one's on me for not checking the menu first. I ended up getting my kung pao chicken and settled for the Mongolian beef, and veggie egg rolls. The Mongolian beef I could definitely pass on. The kung pao chicken was good at first, but somehow lost its flavor as the meal went on. The egg rolls were just okay. Nice and crispy on the outside, but too mushy on the inside for my liking. I was also pretty surprised (and a lot sad) that they didn't have hot mustard. The tea was really good though! Service was fine. Then I went back to Firstborn twice within three months. This newly listed 2025 tasting menu spot actually made me feel a little hopeful about LA fine dining again. The shiso with razor clam and beef cheek cochon, and the black cod with green Sichuan pepper mala noodles, are both full-on collisions between deep animal savoriness and sharp, vivid spice. Then dishes like roasted artichoke and morel stuffed with green peas bring the seasonality into clear focus. The menu is not huge, but every dish has a defined structure and a bold sense of movement. On paper, it reads a little mysterious and intimidating; once you eat it, everything suddenly makes perfect sense, and honestly, it gets addictive. The ingredient selection and handling are also seriously thoughtful. Take the aged duck main course. I am very much a "if there is duck on the fine dining menu, I'm ordering it" person, and I've had plenty of beautifully rich, tender duck breasts. But Firstborn's version, beyond being tender and luscious, had that Cantonese sense of "gan xiang" -- the sweet, savory aroma you get from naturally air-dried, aged meats. For a second, I had this flashback to going with my family as a kid to Xing Fu Lou in Wenquan for Lutian cured meats during winter solstice. Absurdly good. Calling it the Duck King of the West Coast does not feel excessive. On my second visit, the truffle and wild mushroom "gnudi" was also excellent. The moment it hit the table, that intense truffle aroma made me think of the deep, earthy punch of French Périgord black truffle. But then I thought, wait, where are they getting Périgord in June? Turns out they were using Australian winter truffle, perfectly in season. That sourcing logic is smart. It is not expensive for the sake of being expensive; it actually understands the flavor window. The fire-grilled lamb saddle on the second visit was just as strong. It preserved the soft, tender texture of the cut without losing that sweet, milky lamb flavor. Grilled over open flame to a rosy medium rare, the flavor, doneness, and ingredient choice all landed. To me, a great restaurant comes down to three things: concept, ingredients, and seasoning. Some fine dining places love making everything complicated, stacking seven or eight ingredients together, serving a dozen-plus courses, and by the end you feel exhausted and sleepy. Firstborn is the opposite. It is unconventional, but from amuse-bouche to dessert, every dish explains its own logic clearly. Final feeling after the meal: addictive, interesting, and absolutely worth coming back for.
