Went here for dinner on a Saturday evening didn't have any wait time, but seems like people started to roll in and get really busy late in the evening. They have a good selection of sushi and sashimi items and thought everything was really well organized. Staff is very friendly and brought food out quick. Edamame was just ok, but the sushi was solid. Definitely thinking of coming back if I'm in the area. I wanted to try a new sushi/ramen place, & I'm so happy I found this restaurant. It's family owned business They don't have a parking lot so you'll have to street park. It seems like they have small indoor seating & possible outdoor seating. Absolutely loved the aesthetic of the restaurant very cute and decorative as you can see in my photos. If I'm not mistaken the host did tell me it's Japanese/Hawaiian food. Unfortunately they didn't have ramen when we came in due to high cost & more etc. The workers were super friendly & attentive. You get seated & order through the tablet. Once you order, it gets sent to the kitchen. We got our food served quick. Everything was delicious and fresh. I recommend passing by, it won't disappoint. A nice find near Helms Bakery in Culver City. It was recommend to me by Gabriel at nearby The Mestizo. It is a comfortable family style Hawaiian-Japanese place with a small table top kiosk to order your entrees, combos, and beverages. The service is low key, friendly, and efficient. Once you finish the meal, you stop by the counter to pay your bill. While they do not serve alcohol, I understand that you may carry some in from the other shops nearby. There is street parking. The fish quality felt fresh, and the flavors felt intentional rather than just spicy for the sake of it. The OMG Crunch was solid too. Crunchy, satisfying, and exactly what you expect when you order it. The Original Brulee Roll was interesting and creative, but I found myself wishing the top had more of that satisfying crispy crackly brulee finish. Still good, but maybe not a go-to for me next time. We stopped by after visiting Helms Bakery and were excited to finally check this place out. We first noticed it during the Culver City Art Walk but saw they weren't fully open at the time. We ordered a couple of maki rolls and the Szechuan tofu--everything was delicious. They gave us a sample of the ramen broth, which was also good. We ended up ordering takeout from the kiosk, though there is dine in available as well. We had our choice of four different rolls - the surfin' tuna was my favorite one, while the blue crab roll was a close second. We waited about 20 minutes after ordering and the proprietor came out to give us our box. It came with soy sauce and ginger on the side. Save yourself the time. Don't bother. My fiancée and I went late on a Saturday night. We're new to the area and still in that "let's try everything once" phase. iEight Sushi looked promising on Yelp--good photos, decent reviews, nothing that screamed run--so we gave it a shot. The moment you walk in, there's a sign that says, "Ring the bell and a hostess will be with you." What the sign doesn't say is that, even in a restaurant roughly the size of a modest walk-in closet, it will still take almost ten minutes for anyone to show up. I've had Amazon packages arrive faster. When the hostess finally emerged, he told us to follow him to the sushi bar. I politely said we preferred one of the tables to the left. There were four tables--sixteen seats--every single one empty. He informed us they were reserved for "parties of four." Keep in mind, the place was closing in an hour. The only souls inside were two guys at the bar... and us. Apparently, the imaginary party of four had priority. He then offered a high-top with bar stools. No thanks. We were gunning for the radical luxury of chairs with backs. You know, two of the sixteen unused ones sitting right there. His next offer? Another high-top around the corner--as though moving it twelve inches would magically improve the experience. At that point, we cut our losses. We drove a few minutes and found Haji Sushi--another tiny spot, but with outstanding food and actual customer service. Look for my Yelp review on them next. They earned it. read more
