This spot is so cute. The fish is very fresh and their portions are generous. The rolls are creative and super sauced. I really enjoyed the Salmon Lavah. I can't wait to come back and try the other rolls.

A nice find near Helms Bakery in Culver City. It was recommend to me by Gabriel at nearby The Mestizo. It is a comfortable family style Hawaiian-Japanese place with a small table top kiosk to order your entrees, combos, and beverages. The service is low key, friendly, and efficient. Once you finish the meal, you stop by the counter to pay your bill. While they do not serve alcohol, I understand that you may carry some in from the other shops nearby. There is street parking. I am certainly going to return to try other dishes.

This place was fantastic. I live two blocks away and pass by it legit everyday and have always wanted to try. So I decided to just walk over and get a table for one. It was amazing. It's byob and the atmosphere is just so warm and friendly. The sushi was amazing like I got a CRÈME BRÛLÉE SUSHI ROLL??!! It was so delicious it may be part of my weekly routine bc there are so many rolls I want to try.

I really liked: Salmon Lavah Roll Hiyako Tofu Kyoto Yellowtail I liked: OMG crunch This was ok: Original Brulee Roll The tofu was unexpectedly one of my favorites of the night. Silky, cold, and paired with a sauce that was excellent. The Salmon Lavah Roll and Kyoto Yellowtail both had that savory freshness with a little kick that keeps each bite interesting. The fish quality felt fresh, and the flavors felt intentional rather than just spicy for the sake of it. The OMG Crunch was solid too. Crunchy, satisfying, and exactly what you expect when you order it. The Original Brulee Roll was interesting and creative, but I found myself wishing the top had more of that satisfying crispy crackly brulee finish. Still good, but maybe not a go-to for me next time. Overall, great lineup of #goodeats. Service is pretty standard. The ambiance is actually charming, especially being such a small LA spot. They decorated it thoughtfully with Hawaiian-style touches, and even though the tables are on the smaller side, I never felt cramped or uncomfortable. Cozy, fresh, and memorable without trying too hard.

Popped into this restaurant after seeing so many good reviews and I definitely understand why! I split a Combo A with a friend and the Spicy Tuna & Crème Brûlée Rolls were so delicious!! The service was also superb, we were seated immediately and ordering/paying was super easy. The inside is set up like a cute little shack which really added to the vibes. I give 4.5 stars just because it is on the pricier end, but this place is perfect for a date night!

Sushi and the food was very solid. It was an interesting experience ordering through the iPad and barely having contact with anyone that worked at the restaurant. This is also a BYOB establishment, but there is a liquor store next door. Sushi and food was good, that would keep me coming back, along with the BYOB, makes it a very affordable option if you are looking for something that is pretty quick and not too fancy.

Not good sushi! The spicy tuna roll appeared grey and the salmon smelled fishy I didn't even eat it--I almost asked to return the items. The yellowtail was decent and the miso soup was the best thing at this place. It's super cute with all the added interior details and figurines but I won't be back. $37 gone...

Small, intimate but mighty is how I'd characterize this friendly and delicious neighborhood sushi joint. Friendly service, fresh and wide variety of sushi and sashimi. Food and service will not disappoint!

We stopped by after visiting Helms Bakery and were excited to finally check this place out. We first noticed it during the Culver City Art Walk but saw they weren't fully open at the time. We ordered a couple of maki rolls and the Szechuan tofu--everything was delicious. They gave us a sample of the ramen broth, which was also good. The ordering process was easy since everything is done through the Toast app. The decor and atmosphere are also really cute, we'll definitely be back!

Very cute and well decorated spot with amazing food and service! Will definitely come back

Sushi spot close to the Helms Bakery District. Stumbled upon this place because the line for Pasta Sisters was too long and we were hungry. We ended up ordering takeout from the kiosk, though there is dine in available as well. We had our choice of four different rolls - the surfin' tuna was my favorite one, while the blue crab roll was a close second. We waited about 20 minutes after ordering and the proprietor came out to give us our box. It came with soy sauce and ginger on the side. The rolls were generously portioned and for about $50 we had a nice sushi meal at home.

Good vibes all around! Picked up a salmon roll to go, and wow--so easy, so beautifully presented, I had a moment of pure awe when I opened the box. The sushi was fresh and flavorful, totally hit the spot. This spot really lives up to the "hole-in-the-wall gem" description--super cute and effortlessly charming. Honestly hard to find flaws, but if I were wearing my hypercritical Yelper hat and chasing that ultra-clean eating lifestyle, I might suggest swapping the wasabi packet for fresh or organic. But let's be real: the price was incredible and the experience was spot-on... so don't change a thing! Will 100% be coming back. Hidden gems like this make eating out feel exciting again.

Bought 2 combo boxes from here for my birthday celebration with friends and it was a hit! Everyone loved the presentation and the quality and taste was super solid too! Plus, the workers were soooo friendly and gave me some extra edamame & sashimi after hearing it was my birthday. It's also really adorable inside so I'll have to be back to dine in!

No debate, no hesitation. Just ramen. I had tried this spot at another location before and remembered liking it, so it felt like a safe, comforting choice for a long overdue catch-up. We got there at that in-between hour... not quite lunch, not quite dinner. The kind of time where the restaurant feels like it's just exhaling. It was completely empty except for us, which honestly made everything feel a little more intimate--like the space was ours for the afternoon. We sat down and immediately slipped into conversation, picking up right where we left off after graduation. Life updates, little wins, quiet struggles... the kind of conversation that only comes easy with people who've known you for years. And in between all that, our mouths were busy. The ramen came out hot, comforting, and exactly what we needed. Rich broth, satisfying noodles--one of those meals where you don't even realize how hungry you were until you take the first bite. We kept pausing mid-sentence just to take another bite, then laughing because we couldn't decide what deserved more attention: the food or the conversation. Service was really attentive without being intrusive. They somehow knew when to check in and when to let us just exist in our little bubble. The music was soft, not overpowering, so we never had to raise our voices or repeat ourselves--something I appreciate more and more these days. We stayed longer than we probably planned, but it didn't feel rushed at all. Just two old friends, warm bowls of ramen, and a space that let us slow down for a bit. Definitely one of those simple meals that turns into a really good memory.

It immediately sets the tone for a meal rooted in traditional technique, yet open to a more modern, elevated interpretation. Yakitori here follows a philosophy deeply embedded in Tokyo's top counters, full utilization of the bird, precise binchotan grilling, and a deliberate pacing that emphasizes progression. Within this framework, I explored a more contemporary pairing approach. Elite "Cult" wines into a setting traditionally dominated by beer, sake, and shochu A bottle of Chateau Petrus kicks off the early progression. Its plush plum fruit and silky tannins align with the smoky depth of the grill, particularly alongside lightly charred chicken skewers where restraint in seasoning allows the wine elegance to surface. My approach tonight reflects a growing high end dining trend seen across Tokyo's top yakitori-ya, where prestigious Bordeaux and Napa cult wines are increasingly paired with yakitori. Bringing that perspective to Culver City, the contrast becomes intentional, humble, fire driven cuisine meeting some of the world's most coveted bottles. As the meal progress, the pairing shifts into a high gear, Screaming Eagle alongside Petrus elevates the wagyu into something far beyond traditional yakitori. Both wines concentration and structure cut cleanly through the beef's rendered fat, creating a powerful interplay between richness and precision. Even beef tendon, often seen as a more rustic skewer, takes on a refined dimension here. Against the backdrop of these world class wines, its savory glaze and charcoal kissed exterior provide a compelling contrast to the wines depth and smooth textures. Coming up next are the sake, Fudoh Junmai Daiginjo offers a composed, textural counterpoint. Its rounded umami and gentle fruit sweetness integrate seamlessly with tare-glazed skewers, while a clean finish resets the palate between richer bites and the Tenko 40 Muroka Nama introduces a more expressive, energetic layer. Paired with chawanmushi, sashimi, and lighter preparations, its fresh aromatics and subtle acidity bring lift and contrast, expanding the range of the meal beyond what wine alone could achieve. What I am experimenting here tonight are full of contrast, charcoal and silk, fat and structure, tradition and reinterpretation. Pairing wines like Petrus with yakitori may seem unconventional to a lot of you, but within the context of modern Tokyo dining, it feels increasingly natural. Here in Los Angeles, Gokigen Tori captures a glimpse of that evolution, where even the most traditional skewers meet the world's most prestigious glass. As always, I'll let the photos speak for the rest of the fun.

It's a small space but it doesn't feel crammed, it's cozy and really well kept. The quality and freshness of the fish is impossible to beat. The nigiri melts in your mouth. The best part of coming to dinner here is their prefix meal options. When my boyfriend and I come together we never have to strategize what to get. I always order the Uzumaki & he gets the Uzumaki Plus prefix meals & we each get a miso soup. The ceviche sampler leaves you wanting more each time, the edamame starter is the perfect size, and with each bite of the nigiri I'm smiling and nodding my head in disbelief. You get to choose between two cut rolls with the Uzumaki prefix meals, either the crunchy shrimp or spicy tuna -- the shrimp is my favorite. We decided to try the chocolate donut with vanilla ice cream today and it did not disappoint. Now to the service -- we've never had better service. Each employee greets you with a smile, and as soon as your plate is empty or a piece of trash shows up on your table the staff immediately takes it away. I personally love eating the pickled ginger and some places can be stingy, not this place! Immediately they are bringing us more ginger, water, etc whatever it is, without us asking. It's incredible the attention to detail the staff has and they make coming back such a warm and friendly experience. The cherry on top? There's free parking in a structure attached to the building. We recommend parking in the structure over the street as sometimes there can be interesting characters outside. You know it's an amazing restaurant when you can't decide which is better, the service or the food! Go, you won't regret it!!!
