This place was extremely disappointing. The dish was supposed to have lobster, but there was basically no lobster in it at all -- just sauce and filler. The taste was awful and honestly made me feel sick. I almost threw up after trying it. I was charged for Fiji and was brought 1$ water that tasted like tap water

This place is sooo good especially their happy hour. The food is delicious and the service is so fast. I was in and out within 30 minutes. The inside of the restaurant is amazing. Will be back very very soon!

Pretty decent happy hour. Stopped in on a Friday night around 5/6 pm right before the dinner rush. I don't think the rush ever required a wait but the place did fill up. The pricing is fair for this side of town but I wouldn't say that this is my new go to happy hour sushi spot. The garlic edamame and garlic green beans were good. The salmon sushi was also good. I would also say that the sushi cut rolls were pretty standard. Would return if I were looking for a quick bite on a weeknight. Friendly service as well!

Oops! Sushi & Sake Bar is a small neighborhood venue that is comfortable and pleasant. They serve a nice variety of fresh and delicious sushi and Japanese cuisine, along with a good variety of sake, wine and beer. One of us chose their Lunch Special Combo featuring miso soup, a small salad, and two sushi rolls of one's choice from a list. The "Not "A" Roll" was to be shaped like the letter "A", but was served on the same tray as the other roll selection, the "Blue Crab Roll". The shape did not affect the flavor as both rolls were quite good and flavorful. I chose the Shashimi Special Combo. The shashimi was excellent, of high quality, and attractively presented. I'd order it again. I wish the slices of shashimi were a bit thicker, though. Our Bacon Wrapped Shrimp appetizer consisted of five pieces of butterflied shrimp wrapped with bacon and then deep-fried. It was served over a bed of spinach in a basket, with a sauce that didn't have much flavor. This appetizer was absolutely delicious. The Chicken Karage appetizer had five large pieces of deep-fried chicken cooked to perfection with a crunchy outside and tender & juicy inside. The Karage was served with spicy mayo, grated radish, and a lemon slice to clense one's palate. The chefs and staff at Oops! were friendly and efficient.

I'm here visiting my son from Norcal and I'm craving sushi. He brings us here. Happy Hour! Place was busy and we were greeted immediately. We decided to sit outside and service was great. We were set up with fresh ginger, you can tell it's not from a jar. I ordered the Yuzu cocktail so fresh. We gyoza presentation and taste outstanding. Next the green mussels. We ended up getting 2 more orders they were unbelievably delicious. Spicy tuna kick, and several other items 7 altogether sorry I can't name them all but every single plate was beautifully served and so so fresh and absolutely delicious. Emanuel was our server but others pitched in as well. All were as delightful as the food. The chef is a master. I'm originally from the East Coast and I have tried sushi for decades all over the country and I have to say Oops is one of the best. It's not always about a fancy location and restaurant in a small strip mall on Gateway Blvd between a noodle shop and day spa is the most delicious sushi, service and OMGoodness the prices whether it's happy hour or not is incredible. I'm leaving tomorrow and adjusting my take off time so I can get some to go when they open at noon. We noticed many people were getting take out too. When it comes to sushi I stay away from places that are not busy bc I'm otherwise concerned about the freshness. No worries here. On a Monday afternoon it was slamming. Thank you Oops. Our hats off to you!

It's located in the rear corner of the shopping center

Oops, is my go to sushi place. For the most part it is consistent and the quality is good. But what I've noticed is since we go for a happy hour quite often that the prices have gone up enough that it's very noticeable. I understand that expenses are going up and the cost of food is going up, but I think the prices are too high that it really does not pay to come here for happy hour since it's gone up too much ( not a great value any longer). I also buy a few things that are not on the happy hour menu, which is always good but I personally believe it's not as busy as it used to be because they are starting to overpriced themselves. I will still give them another try in the future and hope for the best. Good luck Oops !

This is such a great happy hour place and they have very generous times for the happy hour too. The hours and the deals are unbelievable! We got the green beans, the gyoza, the spicy tuna bites, the mini baked scallop roll, and the candy roll. If you are two very hungry people I would suggest getting one other item. The green beans came with benito flakes and they were delicious. The bites were exactly what you expect to them to be. The mini scallop roll comes with 4 pieces with scallops so don't think it'll be a 6-10 roll, it really is mini as advertised. The candy was great and we loved the crunch on top of the roll! Only con was that the ginger did not look fresh. We were a big group of people of about 7 and they made space for us :)

Still loving this place :) We eat here at least once a week. The food is great and the service is as well.

A hidden gem sushi restaurant. Went here for happy hour dinner and it did not disappoint. Tons of choices and reasonable HH prices. Tonkatsu sauce tofu Grilled Saba Eggplant spicy tuna Lobster roll Chirashi sushi And more.... Great for all sushi lovers! Parking is a little difficult but it is worth it as the food is comforting here.

Strange name but delicious sushi. We stopped in yesterday for an unplanned Sunday dinner and we were both really impressed with Oops! It's situated in the corner of a small strip mall in a quiet part of Sawtelle. Parking in the parking lot can be a bit tricky because the spaces are small and close together and it was completely full when we arrived for a 6 PM dinner but we were able to find neighborhood parking on the block next to the strip mall. We were seated right when we arrived and had a great dinner at the sushi bar. I was really impressed with all of the options on the menu and the pricing is very fair compared to other sushi spots close by. As always, we got a mix of items and shared everything. We started off with the Miso Soup, which is something I order all the time, next came the Softshell Crab, which was terrific. It wasn't over fried and still had the great soft shell flavors and I would highly recommend ordering it. Next, we shared the Yellowtail Sampler, and it was a perfect amount with four pieces of yellowtail nigiri. Finally, we split three rolls: the Barrington, OMG, and Oops (I Did it Again). All three were really delicious, but our favorite was the OMG roll. It was packed with different fish, basically a new take on the Rainbow Roll. Everything was prepared with a lot of love and came out very quickly, so it's the sort of place that you can dash in and out or stay a while with friends, family, or a date. It's fairly small on the inside, but in a cozy way. Definitely will be back in the near future to try more items and would recommend to anyone else who is a sushi fan to do the same.

Cool little sushi spot for small groups. Not a place I regularly go to but they have some pretty good food and always have seats at the bar. My gf usually gets sushi here while I get Gyozas and some chicken Katsu which is really good. Small restaurant which feels a little more tight, especially if there are a lot of people inside. Reason I drop a star is because dude the service has always been subpar. I have yet to receive a warm welcome coming in to this place. And when I ask a server for something they usually seemed annoyed and as if they don't want to be there. The cooks and chef are always very friendly and have great energy. Food comes out at a steady pace and orders have never been an issue. Only complaint is the front of house and servers. Parking can be kind of bad since there are other restaurants around and only one small lot so good luck.

I tried their signature Rich Chicken ramen (torisoba), and it was delicious, the broth had that creamy, concentrated depth you'd normally expect from pork, but felt a bit cleaner. If it's your first time trying chicken-based ramen, this is a solid introduction. We also got the ground chicken rice bowl, which was a standout. Super flavorful, slightly sweet savory, and honestly something I'd come back for on its own. I also tried their Japanese BBQ chicken ramen (charcoal style), and while it was good, I personally preferred the Rich Chicken ramen. The charcoal flavor on the chicken definitely added a unique edge you don't usually get in ramen, in a GOOD way. Overall, this place feels different*in a good way. It's not trying to compete with traditional pork ramen, it does its own thing, and does it well. Definitely a unique spot in LA and worth trying if you want something outside the norm.

I went with my parents while they were visiting LA, and they actually said this was their favorite restaurant of the whole trip. The ramen broth had such a rich, deep flavor from the charcoal chicken, and the noodles and toppings all worked perfectly together. Another nice bonus was that the large and regular ramen sizes were the same price, which made the meal feel like a great value. We also added the fried chicken bowl and BBQ chicken bowl, and both were tasty and delicious. Everything had great flavor and felt satisfying without being too heavy. We went during Friday lunch, and by the time we finished and left, a line had started forming -- which made sense after eating there. Highly recommend Torisoba Sumiya if you're in Sawtelle and looking for something a little different from the usual ramen spots.

My sister was INCREDULOUS when I said I wanted to eat tonkatsu here again. haha I always eat the pork loin which is not dry, is tender, and has some fatty bits to it. I really like the texture of their pork. And the tonkatsu sauce flavor is SPOT ON, which is very important! My sister LOVES the corn soup. It IS tasty, and so is the miso soup. I also like the salad dressing that comes with the side salad for an entree. For me, tasty salad dressing is a must or I won't eat salad! My sister always eats the shabu shabu salad, which I have also tasted and like, but I only eat salad occasionally when I have a craving, so I haven't had the salad as a meal. Unfortunately, I tend to eat the same thing over and over, so I can't comment on the rest of the menu. We also only do takeout, so I cannot comment on service, but the tonkatsu here is definitely the best I have had thus far, and like I said, I am not a tonkatsu fan, so that's saying A LOT!!!

The katsu combo (chicken, pork, shrimp, and mackerel) was very crunchy, and the chicken and pork were especially tender. The proteins were a bit bland on their own, but the dipping sauces were solid and helped a lot. The Fish & Chips were a highlight--the fish was soft inside and crispy outside, and the fries were very good. The corn soup was naturally sweet and mild but surprisingly flavorful. The curry had a good level of spice and came out in a fun gravy boat since we ordered it as a side for dipping. The vibe is relaxed and beachy, with surfboards and a cool blue sky ceiling feature. Service was friendly and fast. Unlimited rice and grinding your own sesame seeds were nice touches. I'd come back to try their creamy udon dishes.

Right away, you could tell this place is run with professionalism and care. The owner himself, dressed sharply in a beautiful suit, personally greeted and seated us with such kindness and politeness. We ordered the Edamame, Shiromi (Chilean Sea Bass), Yaki Onigiri with Salmon, grilled corn on the cob, Australian lamb, and the Onigiri -- every single dish was delicious, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. The sea bass was especially phenomenal, buttery and perfectly cooked. The Yaki Onigiri had an incredible crisp texture with amazing flavor, and the lamb was tender, juicy, and cooked perfectly. Our main server, Ako, was absolutely wonderful. She had such a radiant smile and calming yet upbeat energy that made the whole dining experience feel warm and welcoming. Although multiple staff members helped throughout the evening, everyone worked together seamlessly and attentively. One thing that really stood out was how incredibly hardworking and detail-oriented the entire staff is. Nothing goes unnoticed. Empty plates are cleared immediately, tables are kept spotless at all times, and the service flows so smoothly from one dish to the next. Even with the open kitchen concept, the ventilation is excellent -- you somehow leave without smelling like food, which is impressive. The owner also deserves recognition because he truly leads by example. He wasn't just standing around supervising -- he was constantly walking around, helping staff, serving tables, observing details, and making sure everything ran perfectly. Also worth mentioning: the bathrooms were exceptionally clean, which honestly says a lot about a restaurant. You physically have to stand in line here which is a little excruciating but I came here at noon on a Saturday during the first few weeks of their pop-up announcement so I really did that to myself. It was probably a 1.5 hour wait, but I'll do anything for a good bite The demiglaze omurice delivered exactly what I wanted- the most silky melt in your mouth eggs ever, a rich savory sauce, and hamburg all on top of a bed of fluffy rice. The egg really was the star of this dish, I've never had eggs with this texture in the US. Ikura has really nailed their recipes and training of chefs here, I've tried to make eggs like this at home and it's just never the same! I will say the hamburg was a little thin and dry, but I was very willing to overlook that because of how perfect all the other components of this dish were. We also ordered the Ika Ika okonomiyaki, which comes with squid. I don't think I've ever had this type of Hiroshima style okonomiyaki, which has all the ingredients layered instead of mixed (they also do serve the Osaka mixed style mixed though). I probably wouldn't get the squid topping again, but the okonomiyaki itself is enough to keep me coming back. You get the option of soft of crispy noodles, and we got what our server recommended, the crispy, and she definitely knew what was up- the slight crunch added a great texture contrast. On the topic of our server I have to give her a shoutout for being so kind and attentive towards us. I wish I got her name, but she was a young girl server and she was just so sweet in giving us order recommendations, as well as giving us a tip that there really aren't any lines here if you come on weekdays during early lunchtime. But what really topped it off was that we remained in the Sawtelle area after we finished dining here for about two hours and ended up really needed a bathroom. No restaurants were letting us use their restroom so we went back to check Chinchikurin around 4 pm which is when they close for lunch. And I guess... only right now because this pop-up collaboration between Chinchikurin - Sawtelle and Ikura goes away on June 1st! From now until June 1st, Chinchikurin - Sawtelle has replaced their entire okonomiyaki menu with 4 types of omurice: demi-glace (classic), mentaiko, black curry, and tomato ketchup. You have the option of adding a hamburg steak as well. The shop is a bit on the small side as it sits in one of the more crowded plazas in Sawtelle. Service is also a bit on the slow side. I have visited Chinchikurin twice during this pop up event and tried all 4 omurices! The egg is cooked perfectly and oh so jiggly. They flop neatly blanketing the rice when you slice them down the middle. The hamburger steak is good too - I would get it. Now here is the Cody run-down on each of the different sauce options: Demi-Glacé: Classic. Very good! If this is your first time trying omurice, you should probably start here. I would describe it as a dark, elegant gravy that's savory with a touch of sweetness. Mentaiko: Unexpectedly, this was my favorite! The mentaiko flavor was rich and full of umami. The sauce was creamy and delicious. Black Curry: The curry was ok and did not have as much depth of flavor as I would have liked aside from strong notes of garlic. I would pass on this one as there are better places to get Japanese curry. Tomato Ketchup: This was my least favorite. I was actually excited for this one, but the sauce was more akin to a marinara than ketchup. I love ketchup. I was hoping for something tangy and sweet and childish, but this sauce was leaning more savory and, honestly, a bit watered down. Some appetizers, such as Takoyaki by Takoyaki Tanota, are still available. Overall, great pop up! The omurice is delicious. I've already been twice and plan to go more times before the pop up ends. If y'all see my Yelp check-ins, y'all know what's up. I highly recommend you visit before the pop up ends, and I hope the omurice ends up sticking around longer.
