Came here with my coworkers after work and they were able to accommodate our party of 9! It's a small cozy space and they also have a free parking lot connected to the back of this restaurant. We all got the Umazaki Plus omakase set and some beer and sake to share. The entire meal was so good and very affordable. All the fish was super fresh and they will let you know if you should add soy sauce or not. Service was amazing, hope to visit again soon!

The sushi here is really good and the staff is really friendly but it is expensive and some fishes were not hits. The yellowtail is okay. The salmon is really good. The tuna is good. Their rolls have very little rice which is good but also bad because they completely fall apart. The baked scallop roll was super disappointing. For one, the roll just collapsed. And the scallops weren't really baked. It was still half warm and half cold. There was also no flavor to it. Food comes out fast. Decent seating since even though it's a small space.

I never knew that Uzumaki was a Sushi restaurant. No one I know ever mentioned it. I've not seen any kind of advertising and I've driven past this place too many times to count. I don't even remember how the place got on my radar. But it did and here's how it went ... I parked in the covered garage. The entrance is on off Tilden. Not many spots but I drove in and pulled right into a spot. I didn't see any available as I walked in the back door (You don't have to walk around the building to the street facing entrance). Parking was free. I say this as I didn't see an attendant and there was no ticketing machine. I looked but didn't see signs. Greeted and seated immediately. Good thing too - by the time I had ordered, no empty tables and a wait. This was just after 5 on a weekday. Service was good. I want to say almost too efficient. It's like the staff follows a rule that no one walks back to the prep are empty handed. From delivering orders to clearing dishes and offering refills - the staff was like on a track and just walking around doing what they do. I can't comment on the friendliness as there wasn't much verbal interaction. Food was good too. See pics. I can say my mind wasn't blown but that I'd go back. I'd order the same exact thing. I just wish there was a Sashimi option. Maybe one day. The only thing that would deter me going back is parking. Not a lot of street parking and I don't like taking chances on residential streets where permits are required.

Great if you like torched salmon nigiri and other delicious fish. 2nd time here and I still enjoyed the omakase here. The staples of seared salmon and tuna really lived up to memory. The charm of this omakase is that you can continue until you're full. Wish we had appetite to taste the entire menu, but we ended at about 20 pieces. Each plating round felt like opening a pack of collectible cards since it's a mystery, if you know what I mean. The servers were attentive and plates and trash were taken promptly. No reservations, street parking is free after 6pm, and they have a free parking lot turning right on Washington blvd onto Tilden ave. Casual to semi formal dining experience.

Uzumaki is a solid sushi spot in Culver City. They have parking in the back of the building. The service here is really good and efficient. The space itself is modern and traditional at the same time. The food here is good straight to the point. The fish tasted fresh so will def come back. Highly Recommend: Yellowtail Belly Salmon Belly Bluefin O Toro Spicy Tuna Cut Roll Crab Hand Roll Good But Not Great: Rainbow Cut Roll Baked Crab Cut Roll You Can Skip: Filet Mignon If you are looking for a spot in Culver City that has good sushi specifically good nigiri Uzumaki is the spot.

Uzumaki is a great sushi spot if you're looking for fresh, tender, delicious sushi. This isn't the place to go if you like a lot of filler in your sushi "rolls," but rather has a focus on sushi and sashimi. I prefer a more intimate experience with my sushi chefs and Uzumaki didn't really offer that as we were not able to sit at the bar. The service was decently attentive but then we were brought out the wrong hand roll at the end and weren't tended to until 10ish minutes after that to correct the error. Not a huge deal just something in the cons column. We ordered the highest level of chef's choice sushi pieces for reference. Uzumaki wasn't bad, just wasn't all that impressive or memorable. Will keep searching for my sushi spot on the West Side.

Amazing! Delicious! Fabulous! Now I know why there was a bit of a wait at 6pm. I thought we were beating the dinner crowd on a Friday night, but I was wrong although the wait was not that long I was surprised on how busy the restaurant was. After the first night of the seared Toro sushi with truffle soy I was sold. Everything we had was delicious from the miso cod nigiri, medai sushi, Moto special cut, crispy rice was absolutely delicious. Service was really quick and very friendly. They turn tables pretty quickly so even though there seems like a wait it's well worth it.

Just go! This is some of the freshest sushi I've experienced. Reservations aren't accepted, but there are two benches outside if you need to wait. Street parking is free after 6 PM. The decor is clean, simple and unpretentious, and the servers are very friendly and super efficient. We ordered one Uzumaki and one Uzumaki Plus for the two of us, which was the perfect amount. You can always order more if you're still hungry. I'd definitely come again.

Absolutely loved this place! We went here for Valentine's Day and the omakase menu was reasonably priced and so yummy. The service was also incredible! Everyone was so attentive and Mia was great. Excited to be back and try other things on the menu!

Uzumaki Cut Roll (8 Pieces)

Solid spot for sushi, I'd recommend coming a little earlier on the weekends cuz it gets busy. Uzumaki set: The nigiri was delicious but the cut rolls were a little tasteless. I'd recommend getting the crunchy shrimp rolls instead of the spicy tuna. Service was very attentive, a little too attentive maybe haha. The second you're done with a plate, they snatch it right up so make sure not to leave any crumbs or pieces left to savor. They don't seem to have a set waiter for your table and everyone is your server, but they definitely make sure you have everything you need. Small restaurant but still nice to bring for a date or just for a casual outing. I believe they have directions to parking on their website but street parking wasn't an issue for us.

Ordered the uzumaki plus set. Very good value to get to try a wide variety of fish for the price, especially in the LA area. Fish quality was top notch. I did feel they put a tad too much wasabi on the nigiri, but I still enjoyed all of it wish I ordered more. Definitely try the lychee sorbet it was really good and actually a bit creamy which I wasn't expecting. Service was attentive. Restaurant is clean and minimal.

I'm from OC so my LA friends decided to take me to their go-to spot when they're craving sushi. Needless to say, I was not disappointed! Everything was super fresh and the service was impeccable! I opted for the Uzumaki Plus which came with edamame and a ceviche starter, 8 nigiri, and a roll of your choice! My personal favorite piece was the scallop but honestly any piece that had the yuzukosho was delicious. I thought the crunchy shrimp roll was delicious and super unique - I've never had a roll topped with tempura bits that were coated in mayo and sauce before! It was a super reasonable price as well, especially for LA. One thing that could be improved is the ambiance - I wish it was warm lighting because next to the sushi chefs, the lighting was pretty harsh and sterile. Other than that, I had a great meal here!

Julia M.

Had the most delicious chef's omakase with my dad here! The staff are all so nice. Fish was incredibly fresh and delicious. Standouts were the toro, uni, ikura and salmon flight. Def recommend!

This second time, I wanted to bring my husband and see what his thoughts were. This restaurant doesn't take reservations, so we took our chances and visited on a Friday night. We got seated in maybe 5-10 minutes, so...not too bad. Pretty decent casual date night spot. The restaurant itself was pretty busy, but it was warm and welcoming. The table was a bit wobbly, but not something that bothered us. I ordered the signature ramen, and my husband ordered the OKG ramen. We had sides of edamame and the corn wings, and I also ordered the wagyu uni sashimi. Everything was delish! My husband mentioned that he thought his ramen was a bit too salty, and I have to agree that the flavor of the broth is pretty rich. The only complaint is that the service was a bit slow. Perhaps a bit understaffed? It looked like the servers were pretty busy, but they weren't as attentive, and we needed to flag them down. Overall, though, I really like the ramen here, and I will likely come back again.

At Gokigen Tori, a yakitori concept originating from Tokyo, the team has opened a Culver City…read morebranch with their original chef brought over from Japan, delivering a truly authentic Tokyo yakitori experience in the U.S. The meal begins with a striking presentation: a wooden crate of assorted skewers for the omakase, ranging from all kinds of chicken cuts to richly marbled A5 wagyu. It immediately sets the tone for a meal rooted in traditional technique, yet open to a more modern, elevated interpretation. Yakitori here follows a philosophy deeply embedded in Tokyo's top counters, full utilization of the bird, precise binchotan grilling, and a deliberate pacing that emphasizes progression. Within this framework, I explored a more contemporary pairing approach. Elite "Cult" wines into a setting traditionally dominated by beer, sake, and shochu A bottle of Chateau Petrus kicks off the early progression. Its plush plum fruit and silky tannins align with the smoky depth of the grill, particularly alongside lightly charred chicken skewers where restraint in seasoning allows the wine elegance to surface. My approach tonight reflects a growing high end dining trend seen across Tokyo's top yakitori-ya, where prestigious Bordeaux and Napa cult wines are increasingly paired with yakitori. Bringing that perspective to Culver City, the contrast becomes intentional, humble, fire driven cuisine meeting some of the world's most coveted bottles. As the meal progress, the pairing shifts into a high gear, Screaming Eagle alongside Petrus elevates the wagyu into something far beyond traditional yakitori. Both wines concentration and structure cut cleanly through the beef's rendered fat, creating a powerful interplay between richness and precision. Even beef tendon, often seen as a more rustic skewer, takes on a refined dimension here. Against the backdrop of these world class wines, its savory glaze and charcoal kissed exterior provide a compelling contrast to the wines depth and smooth textures. Coming up next are the sake, Fudoh Junmai Daiginjo offers a composed, textural counterpoint. Its rounded umami and gentle fruit sweetness integrate seamlessly with tare-glazed skewers, while a clean finish resets the palate between richer bites and the Tenko 40 Muroka Nama introduces a more expressive, energetic layer. Paired with chawanmushi, sashimi, and lighter preparations, its fresh aromatics and subtle acidity bring lift and contrast, expanding the range of the meal beyond what wine alone could achieve. What I am experimenting here tonight are full of contrast, charcoal and silk, fat and structure, tradition and reinterpretation. Pairing wines like Petrus with yakitori may seem unconventional to a lot of you, but within the context of modern Tokyo dining, it feels increasingly natural. Here in Los Angeles, Gokigen Tori captures a glimpse of that evolution, where even the most traditional skewers meet the world's most prestigious glass. As always, I'll let the photos speak for the rest of the fun.

The yakitori is the best I've tasted in LA so far. It is also the most expensive. I've been to Saijo (not bad but more American palette), Nanbankan (disgusting), and Kappo Miyabi (acceptable). The chicken here tasted so tender and fresh and I could tell the ingredients were top quality. There were some very authentic daily specials on the menu like Sakuradai sashimi, Japanese Spanish mackerel, and firefly squid. Usually the firefly squid I've had were marinated and preserved with a funk to them but these were very fresh! I love that they get fresh fish flown in Japan and the sashimi was cut pretty well, too and served at the right temperature. Nothing worse than veiny hard cold fish. We also ordered the chicken soup and the minced chicken stone pot rice. I don't think the rice was worth it because the wait was too long and didn't have the right texture imo, too soft. The chicken soup was super basic, just meat and broth but wow SO delicious and comforting! The best chicken soup I've ever had. Apps were good, too. I love they had authentic feeling Japanese pickles. The mentaiko however was too salty. Menu said there would be otoshi (cover charge cabbage salad) just like in Japan for $5 but they didn't serve it. Probably because people didn't like the idea you have to opt out since this isn't a thing in America. I appreciated the thought. It adds to the authenticity of the restaurant and brought a bit of nostalgia. I also ordered a glass of sake and the waitress told me to say when to stop but I did not understand stand her and said nothing. She poured until the cup and the box underneath overflowed! Ended up with 3 glasses full. Didn't mean to be shameless but appreciated the authentic generous Japanese hospitality for sure. They have a great sake selection too, many easy izakaya style drinkers such as one of my favorites, Dewazakura Izumi Judan "Tenth Degree". You won't find this sake at fakey fake fusion Japanese places. The only thing I did not like about the restaurant was the wait staff was weird. They were mostly Eastern European women with blonde hair (all working at an authentic Japanese restaurant???) and it was hard to understand our waitress because of her accent. She also had a perpetual frown on her face. She seemed angry to serve us. Not sure what was up with that. I don't really knock any stars off for service though unless it's egregiously bad or non-existent. I would reserve the chef's counter next time to just interact with the chefs as they are definitely Japanese. Update: It was so good, I went back again! I have to say the food that comes out of the back kitchen is better than the yakitori. Presentation and knife skills are top notch. The mini tori chicken ramen is the top 3 I've every had in my life. The broth was so flavorful but light. The noodles were the right texture and the toppings were cooked PERFECTLY. I highly recommend their soups and daily specials! (Ask for the chalk board).

No debate, no hesitation. Just ramen. I had tried this spot at another location before and remembered liking it, so it felt like a safe, comforting choice for a long overdue catch-up. We got there at that in-between hour... not quite lunch, not quite dinner. The kind of time where the restaurant feels like it's just exhaling. It was completely empty except for us, which honestly made everything feel a little more intimate--like the space was ours for the afternoon. We sat down and immediately slipped into conversation, picking up right where we left off after graduation. Life updates, little wins, quiet struggles... the kind of conversation that only comes easy with people who've known you for years. And in between all that, our mouths were busy. The ramen came out hot, comforting, and exactly what we needed. Rich broth, satisfying noodles--one of those meals where you don't even realize how hungry you were until you take the first bite. We kept pausing mid-sentence just to take another bite, then laughing because we couldn't decide what deserved more attention: the food or the conversation. Service was really attentive without being intrusive. They somehow knew when to check in and when to let us just exist in our little bubble. The music was soft, not overpowering, so we never had to raise our voices or repeat ourselves--something I appreciate more and more these days. We stayed longer than we probably planned, but it didn't feel rushed at all. Just two old friends, warm bowls of ramen, and a space that let us slow down for a bit. Definitely one of those simple meals that turns into a really good memory.
