Since moving to Pflugerville what I miss the most in South Austin is this restaurant. It has been my hands down favorite breakfast taco in all of Austin.. Last week I drove there just to order a bean, bacon and cheese taco. It's been my go to order for about 15 years. I have never oncE been disappointed by any food I've eaten here. Everything was pretty decent, but nothing special. I was looking forward to the mole enchiladas but the sauce was average and all in all somewhat dry. Big breakfast tacos! Delicious homemade flour tortillas! I usually order corn but inadvertently forgot to ask for corn on a recent visit and received flour. O.M.G. It's flour from now on!! I have tried most of the ingredients in various combinations for the breakfast tacos. Everything is always fresh and tasty. The queso, made in house, it is absolutely delicious. I have also ordered a dozen pork tamales to go and they were very good as well. I feel they were a bit pricey considering they were very small but they were tasty. The best part is the salsa bar. They have a roasted tomato salsa, a fresh tomato salsa, pico de gallo, spicy avocado green sauce and spicy poblano green sauce! The 2 green sauces are so good I could almost drink them. And they have a kick! Their lunch and dinner plates are pretty good too but I usually just go for the tacos. This is a really good Tex-Mex place! read more

Mi Ranchito serves the best and cheapest breakfast tacos in S Austin and they serve them until 10PM! That is correct 1.50 two item tacos all day and only .25 for each extra! Yep only .25 to add avocado! They serve no less than 11 breakfast tacos for 1.50 with 9 choices to add at .25 each. My favs are Bacon and Egg or Ham and Egg plus Avocado or Cheese or both! 2.00 tops for an awesome breakfast taco I can pick up at 6AM or 10PM! The salsa bar has several heat levels the green being the hottest. To Go they pack your choice of salsa plus a plastic ramekin of pico (tomato, onion and jalapeno) I have yet to dine in but from my To Go Menu the most expensive menu item is only 9.00. So not sure about the few reviews that complained about prices? read more

A breakfast taco lover's jackpot in Manchaca! Over the last year of living in Austin I have sought out the most delicious breakfast tacos available. In this town that means you have lots of choices. Breakfast tacos are truly a local phenomenon around here. We live in Southwest Austin, and had always seen this place on 1626 and didn't think much of it. Today I decided to give it a try, and I was more than pleasantly surprised. I picked up 3 tacos. Bacon Egg and Cheese Breakfast Taco - It was a good size. Well over a quarter pound. The eggs were fluffy and the bacon was crisp. It was covered with an ample amount of cheese mix. Lastly the tortilla was toasted just right so that it was crisp but still soft. Chorizo Egg and Cheese Breakfast Taco - Once again, a good portion. Chorizo was cooked separate and then brought in at the end. Lots of cheese and once again the tortilla was prepared just right. On par with what you would get at Torchy's. Carne Guisada Taco - Wow! This was the best I have ever had. It was giant, probably around a half pound. Tender chunks of meat in a spicy gravy sauce. Little fingerling potatoes (by the looks of it) were included. Lastly, it was topped off with grilled onions and cilantro. I cannot overstate how good this one was. They also had a great sauce selection. There looked to be 7-8 different sauces, all homemade from what I can tell. I tried the green and dark red sauce. Both were delicious. The green was very hot and very good. I am going back to Mi Ranchito often. Just you wait and see. So close to my house and so good! read more

I am just one of those people that happen to love breakfast at any time of day so I was very happy with that. The bean and cheese tacos are my favorite of all. (there are 2) I don't even like Horchata, but my other half does, and I tried it...probably the BEST Horchata I have ever tried (I have tried several different types of horchata in the past.) I see a trend with all of the people who gave less than great reviews and that was that they all went for dinner. In all honesty, this is a taco joint. People, go for the breakfast tacos- you won't be disappointed. I love this place. I always get the picadillo and add cilantro, onions and avocado- yum! The salsa bar is out of this world. I am on a low carb diet so I eat my taco sans tortilla with a fork and I load it up with both green sauces (spicy avocado and poblano cream, I think), the roasted brown sauce and the pico. It makes a great meal. Honestly, any of their tacos are great if you doctor them up with these sauces. I love spicy stuff and the sauces don't disappoint. I just finished my breakfast and my nose is still running. ;) My daughters are also huge fans and usually just get bacon, egg and cheese. One person mentioned the coolers against the wall. This used to be a gas station. It was there my whole life until a few years ago when they converted it and they utilized the drink coolers from the store. The place is utilitarian, you don't go for the ambiance- you go for the tacos. As for cost- the drinks are expensive as they are all bottled. I almost always take my food with me so it's not really an issue. The tacos are completely reasonable. A basic taco (bacon/egg, sausage/egg, etc.) is $1.50 with add ons $.25. Specialty tacos (picadillo, carne guisada, etc.) are $1.75. So, me and my girls got: 2 bacon, egg and cheese tacos and 1 picadillo with avocado for $5.50 and they are big tacos. The husband and I took our daughter here on Monday this week. I just have to say that I still love the fact that all three of us can eat very well for under $20. I will mention, however, that after this meal I did seem to taste it the rest of the night. I wasn't a big fan of this. However, I did get the try the tamales, and they were very good. It's a fairly small place but they have a pretty extensive menu-- tacos, enchiladas, flautas, tostadas, quesadillas, and fresh tamales. You can't go wrong with anything there. I tried a combination plate and everything was freshly made-- no canned beans or instant rice served here! The salsas were also flavorful. Let's be honest, proximity matters. This place is very close to my house, but for these breakfast tacos I would travel to the depths of... you see where I'm going with this. The machacado taco is amazing, even though it sounds questionable; dried, shredded beef, egg a la mex, avocado. Their chorizo is so flavorful, but somehow refrains from being grotesquely greasy, as so many can be. The queso has the perfect viscosity and is dangerously good. All this is the basis for taco perfection, but as we all know, the hot sauce makes it. This is my favorite place to grab breakfast tacos in South Austin. The taco filling choices are excellent, and I always struggle to decide which to eat. I recommend these: -finely-textured suadero with onions, avocado, and the spicy green salsa -al pastor. fantastic. -chorizo and potatoes Of course, a good ol' bean and cheese on flour is the true test of a taco joint. We just moved down to San Leanna and were looking for good mexican food nearby. Thankfully Mi Ranchito was nearby and has excellent food. Pretty much any place that serves breakfast all day has a place in my book. The staff is extremely friendly both over the phone and in person. The breakfast tacos are great and the price is too. We ate dinner there just last night and it was also very tasty. So far I've had migas tacos with bacon and some carne guisada tacos and all were meals I'd order again. Great salsa and pico too! Tamales are also a go to item here and both the pork and veggie were really good. I'm eager to try the dessert tamales but haven't had a chance to sample the strawberry or pineapple varieties. Came in and asked for the crispy tacos with black beans inside of the shell instead of meat and made it known that I wanted the tacos exactly how the picture came with the exception of changing out the black beans for the meat. When I got my food the side was also black beans and I didn't notice this until I was already in my car so I came back inside with my food and I asked for them to do it correctly and put the regular beans on the picture as a side. The lady behind the counter came around and started shouting at me in a very aggressive manner literally yelling at me about the confusion and blamed the issue on me saying that I told her something wrong when I didn't. this place is right down the street off Manchaca and what a find. Busy with tons of people and they serve breakfast tacos all the time. My friends and I had the brisket tacos with cilantro...a little greasy but tasty. The chips and queso. Queso was a little creamy and bland but the salsas to choose from you can add accordingly to your spice desire. I got the breakfast tacos egg and potato and topped them with pico de gallo. My other friend got the bacon and egg breakfast tacos. The refried beans were a little dry and thick but otherwise this is a place we'll be back. It's fresh, cheap and fast. read more
