Our group went to this restaurant for dinner and had an amazing time. The food, the drinks, the staff were all amazing! Everyone in our group of around 14 people seemed very happy with their meal. I personally LOVED (can't say enough how much I loved this) the camarones zarandiados. OH MY GOODNESS these things were the most amazing shrimp I have ever had in my entire life. No exaggeration. I wish I lived near this place so I could drop in for these shrimp! read more

There truly isn't much when you're visiting Del Valle, except tacos after tacos. For a girls lunch, we selected the one taco place with a brick and mortar. Meches Mexican Restaurant (not to be confused with their taco stand a street down), has authentic Mexican food at decent prices (~$15/plate). It's definitely a hole in the wall with a somewhat uncomfortable vibe (mostly blue collar men staring at anything that looks out of place, especially young females). Meches might not be for everyone, but for the solid, authentic flavors without the usual Austin prices, it's worth a visit if you're ever in the area. Note: There's a 3% fee for credit card payments. read more

No pictures for this stop because the hunger overcame me. I stopped by because I always see cars in parking lot and everyone knows that's a good sign. I started with the queso and it did not let down. I then had the beef enchiladas and they were just as delicious. The place is nice and cozy. They have an outside patio and would be nice for the cooler weather. Our waiter was very accommodating with any changes or extras I needed. read more

We found this place a couple of years ago after the NASCAR race @COTA. After the race on 24 March, while everyone is stuck trying to leave the area we pulled into Meches for dinner. The staff is very friendly and engaging. Our waitress was on top of everything and very friendly. Everyone in the restaurant was upbeat and the food was amazing. We have made it a tradition to stop here after the NASCAR race @COTA and will continue in the future. Job well done Meches read more

I was camping at Cota for an event with family and decided to order food from nearby. Being from San Antonio I was already sketched about getting Mexican but that's what was close. We did have to call a few times before we got an answer so if you call and no answer I'd try again. We ordered nachos with beef and chicken and we ordered 2 chicken quesadillas. The food was okay we ordered pretty basic items so you cant really go wrong but I was really upset at the portion sizes. The nachos are for one person and also 1 quesadilla here is only a tortilla in half. I guess I was just really hungry and having to share with others I thought this would have been enough and it wasn't. We paid about 35$ for limited basic food. read more

Food tasted alright at best, but the guacamole had turned putrid and a few of us got sick after eating here. Won't return.

This is a great place for Mexican food! I had a combo plate with a cheese enchilada, a beef taco, a chalupa, guacamole and a queso puff (which was a shell with queso in it). Delicious! My friend had carne asada with rice and beans which was also very good. Large portions! Many choices on the menu! We arrived just before noon and by the time we left all of the tables were occupied so others know and appreciate this restaurant. read more

Score for US!!...This one is close to home, and it was really, really good!...Super Friendly Service with a smile. We start with the basics...Chips, Salsa and Queso...I wish every joint served a Red and Green Salsa...Both were great...Green was additive and I couldnt get enough. Wife went with Beef Chiladas, double rice....and I went with the F1 Plate (This joint is right down the road from COTA)....One Chicken Chilada, One beef Taco, crunchy...and a small cup of Tortilla Soup..and great Charro Beans...The only thing we werent really a fan of was the rice...it was really mushy...flavor was great...just a texture thing...hoping it will be different next round...(-1 star)...other then that it was Delish!! read more

The ONLY reason I've ever traveled to Del Valle was to attend a concert and MOTO GP at COTA (Circuit Of The Americas). I mean why would anyone purposely go to Del Valle? Even more absurd to cruise 30 minutes on single lane roads through farmland and shanty's JUST to eat at a Tex Mex restaurant in the suburbs of Austin filled with 5 star Mexican food joints on every corner?!?! Well I didn't SPECIFICALLY drive 30 minutes in the middle of nowhere to dine here. Friends of mine were in town to set up a hospitality suite for the upcoming FORMULA ONE race at COTA and asked me to join them for lunch. Made sense to meet up here as they only had a 40 minute break and it's a mile from COTA. The humble interior was packed. Never been a big fan of Mexican food, Tex mex or otherwise, but the smells wafting throughout the tiny space were intoxicating. On this beautiful Sunday fall afternoon we chose to forgo the wait and opt for the stark well kept patio. Among the items ordered were the steak fajita burrito, the Crazy Plate (beef fajita tacos, beef enchiladas and cheese enchiladas) Carne Asada, chicken fingers (lol ya for the gringo) and I ordered my go to Beef Fajita's. While we waited for our entrees we munched on graceful non greasy corn chips accompanied with a red and green salsa both unassuming ;a pleasant Amuse Bouche. Pleasant waitstaff doing their best to not freak out with the constant throng of hungry regulars mixed with the European guests dressed in Pirelli, Ferrari, and Lamborghini logo polos. Little do those visiting Europeans accustomed to Michelin star fine dining understand that they have just eaten some of the finest Mexican food they will ever eat. Let me make this extremely clear.. Mexican food is not my jam...AT ALL. I've had the privilege of dining at some of the 'best' restaurants not only in the United States but throughout Europe and a few places In South Africa. Point being I've acquired an expensive pallet. When I taste good chow I know it!! What we have here ladies and gents is a Michelin star worthy casita in the middle of cow pie Texas.. who'd a thunk it?'!! You can bet your last dollar, Not only have I tasted the best Mexican foodstuffs I've ever eaten, but I guarantee, I'll drive my little roadster 30 miles along the dusty Texas roads to the middle of nowhere Del Valle JUST TO EAT the best steak fajitas on the planet.. read more

Good authentic food. Well prepared. Very tasty. The tortillas are homemade and delicious

Fast service! Good food. Not a fan of their lemonade. Green chicken enchiladas are good as well as their shrimp enchiladas

This place was great! Food was delicious and the service was excellent! Will definitely come back for more!

The fajita burrito is one of the best I've had in Austin. Perfect place to stop and grab a bite. Portion sizes are generous and the meat is seasoned well. Definitely keep this place on your list if you're in the area. Authentic Tex-Mex. read more

The stars on this restaurant for reviews was deciving! Rude waitress, the prices for the food was over priced plus no tortillas for the plates for that price is ridiculous! Scrapes for tortilla chips! I do not recommend this restaurant read more

First time here for lunch ! Really good food and service is great ! Will be back to eat soon !

They do not have margaritas even though their menu says they do. They also have terrible service, and the food is less than what you would expect from Mexican food. As a Latina women I truly expected better from this place being it is alway busy, guess it's busy because there is not much out this way, keep driving.. there is way better. read more

This place is a hidden gem! Free tortilla and salsa while you wait with both red and a green sauce that is to die for. Came two days in a row and the food is amazing. Fast, inexpensive and great quality. I had a combo plate with chicken and beef fajitas, ribs rice and beans. Ribs were tender, seasoned right. Both the chicken and beef for the fajitas was tender and tasty. We love going here and highly recommend you try it! read more

Absolutely horrid service. A phone call to the restaurant to ask about Apple Pay was ended abruptly when then other person hung up bc they don't speak enough English to understand what I was asking. A simple order of tortilla soup and chicken quesadillas to go took well over 35 minutes to prepare while I dined in. I had to ask for chips and salsa not once, but three times. To go order of tortilla soup spilled all over the bag in which it was packaged. Complete disappointment. read more

This place was amazing! The food came out fast, and they were easily able to accommodate a large party.

The pineapple aqua Fresca has a lot of outer pieces in it and melon aqua Fresca is a little watery and could be sweeter otherwise it'd be bomb. & they are extra on the phone; it almost pissed me off but ordering online and picking up has been great for us! Worst experience ever! Ordered to go - nachos and a fajita plate, the nachos only came with 6 chips and one DRY chicken on each chip and the to go plate was melted like if it was put into a microwave! It was disgusting, didn't even finish my order. The fajita plate was cold and had no taste to it. I was really hoping to like this place since we don't have many options in Del Valle but NEVER again!!!! read more

Abstract: unique Mexican restaurant in the middle of no where We were hungry after our morning exploration of McKinney Falls so we searched up a restaurant and this place looked super yummy. About 11 mins away from the park entrance so not too far. It's a small restaurant with a ton of parking. There's some parking spots in the front then lots more in the back. Once inside we were greeted by a waitress and said we could sit anywhere we want (table of 4 at 1pm on a Saturday). She then brought some chips and salsa and took our drink orders. They didn't have aguas fresca so we ordered a large horchata and some water. The overall environment of the restaurant was nice. There were tables with people chatting and some music paying in the background. Not very loud but still fun. Food: Horchata- this recipe was off for me. It tasted like there was some powdered vanilla creamer in it and I didn't like that. I like a cleaner taste of just rice and cinnamon with maybe some almonds. Fajita a la cosme 5/5- this was really good. Nothing like I've ever tasted before. Flame kissed slices of steak smothered in a cheesy sauce with mushroom and pico de gallo. Served with rice, salsa, sour cream, guacamole, tortillas and a bacon and bean soup. The meat was tender and the sauce was very unique. Wrapped up in a tortilla, yum! Ground beef burrito 5/5- we didn't realize this was a "wet burrito" we thought it was going to be a hand held one but enjoyed it nonetheless. It came with rice, beans, and salsa. The flavors of the burrito was very nice and delicious. Enchilada Triples 4/5- classic enchilada taste but the chicken was a bit dry. Everything else was delicious though. Kids chicken Quesadilla 4/5- mid toddler enjoyed his cheesy enchilada and the rice and beans. He was a little sad it didn't come with guacamole like our usual Mexican restaurant but still devoured everything. I would definitely come back here if we go to McKinney Falls again. It's a bit out of the way for us otherwise. read more

The tortilla soup was nasty. They had mushrooms and big slices of onions. Also the carrots were not fully cooked. Also, it was a tortilla soup but didn't have tortillas in it. Not enough chicken either. Yuk!! I ate what I could and paid for it but will never go again. 1 read more

Wanted to update my review to let everyone know I tried the tortilla soup, quesadilla, and enchiladas over the holiday break. Good Lordy, this place does everything so well. Ever single dish I have tried at Meches is a 10! Also, just want to reiterate from my last review, how incredible their salsa is. It's especially good when eaten together (Christmas-style, each bite needs a dollop of red and a dollop of green- trust me!) read more

Nothing exceptional. The rice is well-spiced, and the salsa that comes with the chips is nice. I just wish they refilled our chips and salsa.
