Meches might not be for everyone, but for the solid, authentic flavors without the usual Austin prices, it's worth a visit if you're ever in the area. My husband and I decided to go out for breakfast on a Saturday AM at around 10. We were the only ones there and when we walked up the employee told us they were out of juices which was a little disappointing since a part of their marketing/menu focused on juices. We ordered the El Classico taco and The Outlaw with 2 lattes. (With 20% tip it came to $34) He told us it would be about 10/15 minutes - no problem. Tacos were ready and 1 latte, he said the other latte would be a little longer bc the machine was having issues. To say that we were underwhelmed with how "full" the tacos were for the price would be an understatement (see photos). About 5 minutes later, he told me that the machine was broken and they need to get fixed. I asked for my money back- he said he had to wait for the manager to come to do that and it would be another 10 minutes. We left without a refund because at that point, I wasn't going to wait around longer for a $6 refund. The tacos did have wonderful flavor but the portions for the price is disappointing. I have no problem spending money for good quality food but $10 and $7 for practically a street taco is a little steep IMO. We may return to try lunch/dinner but not sure if it's worth the drive for the price.

When I wrote that review breakfast tacos were $1.35. Their carne guisada was the BEST I ever had anywhere. I have never found any that I care for anywhere else. They spoiled me. Well my vision of a nice new restaurant occupying that spot was blown up. Someone bought the lot and I believe purposely messed up the parking lot to where you better have a high clearance vehicle to negotiate it. Then they literally packed it with food trailers and many more types of trailers. They just swamped poor little Las Flores. They didn't stand a chance so I guess not long after Covid hit they gave it up. The poor common folk and working man lost one of the best and cheapest places around. Lost to the root of all evil. GREED.
