The bolognese pasta was very bland and kind of dry, not flavorful at all, as well as the gnocchi, the texture is not like the typical gnocchi, it tasted like cheap store bought gnocchi. After a long drive from the Bay Area we decided that Mi Piace was the perfect place for dinner. We parked in the garage nearby and walked over. We were immediately greeted and brought to our table. It was a busy Friday evening but our timing was perfect. Dining room was packed. Dim lighting with linens dressed on tables made everything feel upscale and posh. The lounge was a little more lively than the dining area but still carried the upscale vibe. Frank was our server and he was attentive, knowledgeable about their menu and made some great recommendations. We shared appetizers and all ordered different entrees based on Franks recommendations. The food was plated and delivered to our table very quick. Everything we tried was delicious. Frank made sure to check on us frequently. It isn't the same restaurant anymore. It has changed. On August 7, 2026, I came to Mi Piace to celebrate my niece's birthday. We met for lunch. It was the worst restaurant experience. It started with her fork having food crud on it. The waitress became defensive about it saying how they use heat to disinfect the dishes and do two washes. It was bad enough having crud on the fork and then defending the fact that the fork was filthy. Own it and bring a clean fork. The menu was all over the place! I thought this was an Italian restaurant, but they had American cuisine and French all mixed together. I even mentioned to the waitress that I thought it was an Italian restaurant, and she said that is the menu they've always had. I ordered a Piccata di pollo (Italian) with pomme puree (French). [By the way, I Googled an older menu, and that dish used to be served with mash potatoes.] The pomme puree was a soupy potato, like baby food, but watery. They did have focaccia bread (Italian), which was delicious! When I Googled the older menu, the focaccia bread came with the meal. Now it costs extra, so this wasn't the same Mi Piace menu. My niece and I wanted to make the situation end on a good note. We decided that we would order Tiramasu for dessert, but they didn't have it. They had apple pie à la mode (American with a French phrase). The best service was the guy filling our water. He was friendly and kept the water coming. I had mentioned we were looking forward to the Tiramasu because it was my niece's birthday, and the waitress didn't even wish her a happy birthday. It had been my experience at restaurants that the waiters will wish a happy birthday. The waitress was giving us misinformation and being defensive. We had enough. Driving through Pasadena we searched for a place where we could get steak, pasta, and drinks. This place popped up. So glad it did! There were 3 of us dining and we all absolutely loved everything we ordered. Skirt steak was cooked perfectly (medium rare) and was juicy tender and flavorful. Risotto was perfectly cheesy. Pasta pomodoro had a vibrant flavorful sauce and was cooked just right. And the chicken piccata was so delicious with artichoke hearts and a zesty lemon sauce. For dessert we had the tiramisu and daily special tart w/ gelato. So fresh and tasty. And no Italian dinner is complete for me without the double espresso. So smooth and perfect! Staff was very friendly and efficient. The owner even stopped by our table to chat for a few minutes. We had just had a traumatic experience on our drive, and stopping here really helped us to be able to calm down, relax, and have a good time.
