The happy hour surprised us. The prices were reasonable for the quality and tastiness of the goods. The ambiance is that of a club so you don't expect such a good burger but it hit the spot. The brioche bun was a good touch, the veggies inside were fresh and the patty was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The fries were crisped to perfection which complemented the burger. The wings were good but not the star of the show. We will definitely be back for another round of happy hour and stay for open mic. read more

Came here on a Saturday night. Street parking was hard to find. There were paid parking lots within walking distance. There was free cover charge before 8pm. After 8pm, it was $10 to enter. Place was crowded after 9pm. It was an older crowd, like near or at retirement age. Place appeared clean. Good air circulation, didn't not feel stuffy. The one bartender was hard to flag down. When we got her attention and she was super rude. We asked if there was a happy hour menu. She looked at us like we were stupid and asked us what we meant. After repeating ourselves twice, she told us there's no separate Happy Hour menu. What we learned was that Happy Hour was before 8pm and it included two for one drinks. The food was regular price. We were prepared to order drinks, but changed our minds after her nasty attitude. Maybe it was her first day, but she definitely did not get trained in customer service. read more

Great place for cocktails, good food, llive music and the bartenders are always friendly and attentive. I've visited a few times for different cover bands and it's always a fun experience. I've tried both their happy hour and regular menu items and I've not been disappointed. They sometimes have a cover charge for the live bands or dance classes. I usually arrive early, order dinner and drinks and the fee is waived for the bands. I've also arrived when they're having dance lessons but don't get charged unless you participate. P.S. There's plenty of metered street parking, I believe there's a time limit until a certain time but I've never had any issues (read the signage). read more

We were looking for a local hangout and found this place. It was a free comedy night with around 7 comedians, super fun and a great place to hang out on a Wednesday evening. They also had bar food , We had calamari and sweet potato fries, not bad at all! Drinks were great and even better when they were two for the price of one. I enjoy the events they have here, however, recently we attended Glow before Dark event which was presented as a 80's and 90's event. Only 5 minutes of 80's was played and the rest I'm assuming was 90's techno or house music. I like a little bit of everything and not the same music all night. We were disappointed. Hopefully they will host another one with a different DJ. read more

First of all, there is nothing more frustrating then being lied to. We went to Mixx on Friday to see a Johnny Cash tribute. We were told the band would start playing at 9:00 PM. At 9:40 PM the band members start to show up. 10:30pm band still not playing. Can't blame them it's most likely the management of Mixx giving customers the wrong time to get them to buy more drinks. Food was over cooked and greasy. Ordered the guacamole with chips. I think the chips were from Christmas as they were red, green, and stale. Also, they do not serve water. You have to purchase a bottle. Draft beer tasted watered down. I am also amazed that anyone is giving more than 2 stars. Incredible disappointment. read more

I went with a friend for their Artic Monkeys Cover band night a couple of Saturdays ago. There weren't a lot of people inside, so we weren't sure if it was the vibe we were looking for. The owner/manager really turned it around for us. He was welcoming and showed us great hospitality, so we decided to give The Mixx a try. The band was great. The DJ played all of our favorite indie rock from the early to mid 2000s. He showed the music videos on the screen. It wound up being such a great time. The crowd that was there brought good energy, so it didn't matter that much that it was a small crowd on a Saturday night. The drink prices are reasonable. I didn't try the food, but will next time. It's awesome to have a place that plays all of the good indie rock from the 2000s. I will definitely come back! Thank you to the owner/manager for your hospitality! read more

I stopped by The Mixx on Wednesday night in Pasadena after seeing a sign for free comedy on the corner of Los Robles and Colorado. I figured I'd check it out and see what the deal was. The place was nice. The bar staff greeted me right away and handed me a menu with reasonably priced food and drinks. They had Sugar-Free Red Bull and chicken tacos, so I was good. The show started at 8, right on time. Seating was comfortable, and the comedians were funny and welcoming. Chill environment. Felt like something I'd want to come back to. Also I found out that the name of the comedy show is called "Pat's Comedy Show". I hear it's a weekly thing, so I'll probably head back soon. read more

I think I was expecting more from a place that is rated 4 + stars. My boyfriend is a huge Deftones fan, so we came out last Saturday night to check out a cover band, It was a huge disappointment. Two bands were scheduled to play that night, but Interpol's cover band did not end up performing. Deftones' cover band started performing around 11:15 pm. I ordered a mojito and it was terrible. It was very bland. Toward the end of the night, I ordered calamari which was also very disappointing. Our bartender was nice and refilled my water quite often. I refused to drink any more cheap liquor after my first drink. By 11:30 pm we were walking out the door. Never again. read more

Went there on a Saturday night for a game night. I arrived early to take advantage of their happy hour and ordered garlic feta fries, Carne asada taco, shrimp taco, and Chicken taco. I didn't see many IPAS, but they did have space dust, which is my fav. The inside of the taco was tasty but that tortilla shell! Good gracious, it was stale. Maybe underdone. The bite was so hard i just placed it back on the plate and grabbed my fork lol The garlic feta fries really tasted like fries with feta sprinkled on top. The bartender was cool. He had a regular in there as well as other people. He greeted you, got your order and checked in. The place got pretty packed and it was just him and another waitress but they maintained composure. read more

Went to The MIxx as a friends musical group was performing. There was no cover charge and they were offering some specials which was nice. My issues with The MIxx are that they have no tables and chairs! What they have are some cheap plastic folding seats and a couple short benches they use as tables. Fortunately I was able to place my drink on this bench but looking around, people were holding their drinks between their legs and worse yet, on the floor. Some people had appetizers which they had to use their laps to hold their plates. Since this place does not pay the performers, they save money and the performers obviously bring guests, who buy things. One would think this place could afford some decent tables and chairs. I did enjoy the performances and the only thing that saved this from being a one star review was the bartender, Carlos, who was very nice! read more

I would go back for the live music! The happy hour food was small portion and not low priced, and 2 for 1 mixed drink special seemed half sized. So the specials ended up not being worth it at all, and it was an unexpectedly expensive night. We spent quite a bit and left hungry and feeling like I hadn't even had one drink. read more

Came here on a Thursday. Not very crowded the DJ was great, lots of seating, the food was good the drinks were great. Fair prices. Very clean and fun atmosphere. Will return and recommend. Plenty of parking near by, but I can imagine its would be packed on a weekend. read more

Don't let the emptiness fool you! We walked by on a Friday night and saw there were only a few people inside.. but still decided to go in due to their happy hour deals. Happy hour is 5-8 and $5 drinks. With our suspicious mindset we ordered old fashioned to try. Oh man.. the drinks were amazing! Drinks are strong and each ingredient were perfectly balanced. So we decided to order more drinks! All the drinks were made with high quality and you can tell the bartender knows his stuff!Beware tho, a few drinks here can get you tipsy and with the happy hour price it's even better! Service was amazing, we were approached by our amazing server and was also acknowledge by the bartender. They are friendly and check up on us periodically. The Food here is horrible. We ordered the Fish and Chips, and those sad looking fish sticks, looked fresh from the freezer. Perfectly shaped like you'd expect out of a box. For $14! Yikes!!! The fries were sad, soggy, and had little taste also. Additionally we also ordered Mozzarella sticks, that was $12 for 5 little stick, yikes. I wish I had pics to share of the sad looking fish and chips. To add insult to injury, if you're not buying a reserved table, they ask you sit at the bar or stand. Sooo, needless to say they don't cater very much and are Big on selling the tables. Last item to note, the music is way too loud! I recall seeing the audio manager turning up the volume on his WiFi App, and I gotta say the loudness does Not help the ambience. Totally bonkers. read more

We went to see a tribute to Morrissey & The Smiths by These Miserable Lads, supposedly starting at 8PM tonight. Arrived at 7:30 and the band was doing a sound check which wasn't great but it did look like we were ready to start at the advertised time and maybe the performance would be better. We left after 10PM and the band still did not take the stage, they were just standing around having drinks and chatting. What a disappointment but maybe we were spared! On the up side food and cocktails were good. Just not sure we'll be back. read more

Could not believe the reviews I have seen. As a huge Rocky Horror Picture Show fan for ages, I took my wife and two friends yesterday to their Burlesque matinee screening show - which was basically a YouTube screening (can't believe that's not a brutal copyright violation). Picture quality and especially the sound were poor as was the rest: Doors were advertised to open at five, show starts at 6 pm. So I thought it would be neat to come early and enjoy an early dinner before the show. Pre-booked VIP at a premium with a table. I thought we would be sat at a neat table as the website suggests with china and glasses. VIP in their term means a cheap plastic foldable chair in front of the screening area, in our case row 5. Doors actually opened at 5:45, which made us stand in the heat with nothing to drink for 45 mins. Our table - not existent. In the end, I was not too unhappy as two of the four dishes ordered never showed up - of the four beers ordered, we received three - all way into the screening. As "a courtesy", I received one more foldable chair which did not even provide space for the drinks and food we actually received - and made it impossible for me to move and enjoy the screening. Sorry, I do not think I will ever go again. I go even further: the worst $200 I have spent as long as I can remember. read more

Fun-filled afternoon after stumbling upon this spot with great happy hour prices. The Mixx has food and drinks, although at first glance it seemed a little quiet inside. They host performances on certain nights, and that day it looked like the Rocky Horror Picture Show was going to be put on. Our bartender Carlos was awesome and super friendly and helpful. Happy hour prices were $5 cocktails and beers, which turned out to mean any cocktails on their menu. We also got some food for an early dinner. Food: - Guacamole: Homemade, and so delicious. A great appetizer, highly recommend! You can also ask for more chips if needed. - Mixx pastrami burger: Very tasty, but the pastrami isn't thinly sliced as I thought it would be. It's surprisingly filling, especially after all the guacamole! Also comes with fries. Drinks: - Gummy Bear: Really sweet, not as alcoholic but maybe I just couldn't taste it? - Classic Old fashioned: Definitely our favorite. Can't go wrong with a classic! And Carlos made it perfectly. - Watermelon cooler: Juicy, pretty strong. Not as sweet as the gummy bear. - Irish Mule: Good whisky alternative to Moscow mule. -Prince Alberto: Ohh this was fun.
