I'm giving this place 3 Stars for it's potential. It's located in an alley but actually not as scary as it sounds, alley is short and well lit, you should see the "Pub" sign right away if you're in the right alley. The bouncer was nice and helpful when I asked about the parking situation. I walked through the entrance and right away, it was clear that there is a bathroom next to the entrance, you can smell the bathroom as you walk by. Glad I didn't have to use the restroom while I was there because I did not want to see what it looked like... or smell what it smells like from inside the bathroom if I can already smell it from outside. I hope the business takes this as a sign to make sure the employees or somebody, is cleaning the bathroom. The pub is very small which actually seems like it would be a cool local hangout for someone who frequent s the neighborhood pub. I went to see a band play and had a great time. They have a patio area that's spacious compared to the inside. The decoration inside the pub is cool. The locals seem to really love it here. I'm giving it 3 Stars because I think it has potential to be cleaner. It's a fun small place to see a band play.

Friendly lady bartender. Always seem to miss the bands. Always seem to arrive too late. It's a more smaller dive bar with a small stage. Outdoor seating was enjoyable. Beer and whiskey bar. Look down the alley ways as this place is tucked away and not on the main road.

A nice cozy place to get drunk at. Barkeeps are friendly enough and efficient. Beer selection not bad. Live music, some of it good!

Popped into Lucky Baldwin's for a quick bite after an absence of a good 10+ years. Happy to say…read moreit's still the same cozy, welcoming place, with friendly servers and a beer selection that's hard to beat -- possibly, it can't be beaten at all. That said, when I'm in a Pub I tend to go for Guinness or some kind of 1/2 & 1/2, and this time I chose Smithwick's with a Guinness topper. My bartender, Sarah, proffered a perfect poor, with a smile and a laugh, and I was ready for a good time. The menu is packed with traditional pub favorites plus other general sandwiches and salads, etc. I decided on their Reuben, which is built with Corned Beef, Swiss, Sauerkraut, both Russian AND Mustard, and it's served with fresh cut Fries. The sandwich was hearty and generously made, with flavorful corned beef boasting all the best of the pickling spices without too much salt -- the cook knows how to balance flavors. The sauerkraut and melty Swiss provided a rich, acidic contrast to the beef, an effect echoed by the blending of Russian with Brown Mustard. Then there was the bread -- an artisan rye with good flavor, appealing texture and just the right amount of fresh seeds to let you know this bread came from an oven not a bag. Fries were hand cut, as advertised, arriving hot and crispy with just the right dusting of salt -- a perfect match for the Reuben. This being Monday night, it was quiet on Colorado Blvd., and the restaurant had only a few people at dinner time. While this was a laid-back visit, I'm well aware the place can get busy and boisterous when people descend on their back-alley entrance, and it's hard to know which scenario would be better: the high energy pulse or the calm conversation. Best to come in multiple times for a proper scientific analysis (as well as several cold pints and a few very good meals).

I haven't been to Lucky Baldwin's Pub since my old town bar hoping days and was looking forward to a great St. Patrick's Day corned beef and cabbage meal. On the phone and in person the lady taking my order was very nice and helpful. When I asked if the corned beef and cabbage was a hearty portion she said yes, I will be satisfied. But when I received my order I was fully disappointed. Two small pieces of corned beef, bland tasteless cabbage, 1 small potato that was sliced into 4 pieces, and 3 slivers of a carrot. The cabbage was slightly chewy and did not have any flavor. It seemed like they boiled it without any spices. The potatoes and carrots were cooked great but also lacked any flavor. They added some type of white sauce, which I think was a very watered down, tasteless gravy. While the corned beef itself was delicious, the fact that for $20 I got two small pieces was unacceptable. Especially after I was told they have a hearty portion. I really wanted to give this place a good review because of the good memories, welcoming staff and fun ambiance, but to capitalize on a holiday by charging $20 for a small portion, they deserve the one star.

Plenty of seating on a Thursday night, and the wait staff were very friendly. I also appreciated being able to pay via phone -- another little touch that reminded me of my Wetherspoons experiences back in the UK. The cottage pie was the highlight for me. The portion was on the smaller side, but absolutely delicious. The chips were great too, though certainly not British chips (still very enjoyable regardless). I'll definitely be back for a pub quiz or whenever the UK homesickness kicks in. :)

Not sure if the owner has changed because this one has gone downhill and is no longer the busy gem it use to be. We also had breakfast here a few months ago to watch soccer and the food was greasy and over salted but I just thought it was a one off bad experience. Came in during a Dodger & Lakers Friday playoff game and the bar was nearly empty while nearby spots were packed as I stopped at Der Wolf before. Upon arrival the Manager was smoking in their back entrance smoking area - Staff was friendly as usual, but I was served a raw, bloody, mushy burger (photo attached). The bar was dark, so I didn't notice until after I started eating it then I bit into the completely raw cold center and was grossed out (see photo). Easy fix (typically) here is where it gets strange. Manager offered a 50% discount or recook another burger - almost like I felt he was thinking I was chasing a free meal. I wasn't worried about the money and didn't want to wait for another burger after already being grossed out by the undercooked rawness --I said to just microwave it or to make me something quick and simple like a kids burger or a few wings to replace the uneaten 2/3 of my raw burger but I was told that wasn't possible due to "health code" reasons. Wait ....you are smoking out back and serving raw burgers and you can't microwave the remainder of my raw burger and to fix it you are offering me 50% off my burger when 2/3 was raw? The server did their best and I still tipped 25% since it was not his fault, management later comped the check and removed the tip, which unfairly penalized the server. Again I don't care about the money but I was so surprised how much this manager really didn't get it or cared until I mentioned that people get sick from raw burgers and it's a health department violation to serve raw hamburger products. This used to be a gem. Disappointing decline in food quality and management. The crowds have been dwindling. Ownership may have changed but many of the sports crowds have moved to other nearby Pasadena pubs where the food and management are much better.

Boyles Tavern felt like a pub speakeasy, tucked away the way all good gems are. From entrance to table, we were pleasantly surprised. The two story tavern was bustling with what seemed to be different tables of friends, which made me wonder if this is what Cheers felt like, all while everyone watched Sunday football. We ordered at the bar, a Cowboy Smash Burger for me, Smash Sliders for the Mr, and sweet chili wings to start, with the right crisp on them. Service was clear, accommodating, and fast. Its location is not exactly on Colorado Blvd. It's more nestled in an alley way. It is very close to the famous Ice House Comedy Club in Pasadena. We sat at the tall tables and chairs. Unfortunately, they didn't have happy hour prices for their appetizers which seems odd to me. It's happy hour, right? They did have a special on beer. Anyway, that didn't stop us from ordering food and drinks. As for food, they have starters, burgers & sandwiches, salads, and desserts. As for drinks, they have domestic bottles, craft bottles, import bottles, hard seltzers, wine, beverage, and more. I went all out and got 2 orders of 12 chicken wings each for $21 which is quite steep if you ask me. I asked for 6 wings per flavor... buffalo, sweet chili, mango habanero, garlic parmesan. The wings weren't that big. For that price, you would think the wings would be bigger. Anyway, taste and flavor was amazing though. Perfectly fried and crispy! Sauce was delish!! My favorite was the sweet chili. Yum, yum! I also got a buffalo chicken salad (delicious) plus an order of onion rings (light and crispy)... these were very good! I would order the onion rings again. Another colleague ordered a pitcher of hawaiian or luau blonde (sorry I forget the name). I normally don't drink, but I did entertain one glass of this blonde. It was actually very light and refreshing. Thank you sir for sharing! The lady staff (Kristen) who took my food order was very nice and pleasant. Thank you miss for the amazing service! As for the gentleman who I believe worked here, too, he could improve in offering better service IMHO. Anyway, our group enjoyed the good eats and had a great time. Different sport games were on TV for customers to watch. We caught a basketball game between the New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers. I'm not a basketball fan, but the game was so enticing and nerve-wrecking at the end... it got me cheering! LOL I probably won't return here by myself, but I would return here with my work colleagues. Let the good times roll!

When we walked in, there was a tall, bald male bartender and a blonde female bartender working--neither of whom I've seen here before. We ordered two drinks, but the service from the male bartender was inattentive from the start. At one point, my friend tried to get someone's attention to ask for a lime and wasn't acknowledged. She ended up grabbing a lime herself from the garnish tray--which I understand isn't ideal--but the response we got was completely out of line. The male bartender became immediately hostile and started aggressively cursing at my friend. When I calmly asked the female bartender if this was normal behavior, he inserted himself into the conversation and said, "she put her fucking hand in the fucking jar," in a very confrontational tone. I tried to de-escalate the situation and respectfully explained that there was no reason to speak to us that way, but he continued the hostility and ultimately told us to "get the fuck out." At that point, I paid for our drinks and we left. What made this especially disappointing is that this has never been our experience here before. We've always enjoyed this bar and have had positive interactions with the regular staff. If this had been my first visit, I would not come back. I understand that what my friend did wasn't appropriate, but it absolutely did not justify being yelled at and cursed out. I hope management addresses this, because this kind of behavior is not reflective of the bar I've come to know.

The back patio is disconnected from the brewery so you have to walk back and forth if you want to refill.
