Russian River Shadow of A Doubt Imperial Porter

This lucky Baldwin's location is conveniently close to Caltech and a perfect place to meet up with friends for drinks and food. The atmosphere was laid-back and there was something on the menu for everybody. They have a lot of different offerings on tap and have wonderful service. There's plenty of seating and you don't feel rushed when you're there to connect with friends. If you're looking for some comfort food and a great draft or something a little bit stronger, these are your people!

Pliny The Elder Double IPA (8.0% ABV)

This place makes a mean steak pie and the craft beer selection is great! I wish I could say the same for the LB Burger, but it was extremely dry and frankly, hard to eat. We ordered it medium and it came out more than well done. Fries were good though and who can say no to Russian River's Pliny the Elder on tap if you're an IPA lover?! Service was good but definitely could be better by checking in from time to time for refills and additional orders of food and drinks. Street parking is usually available even on game days. If you have never tried the Steak & Guinness Mushroom Pie, it's a must try!

The Yorkshire pudding, made in-house, is on the dense side, with an almost bread-like texture

I haven't been to this Lucky Baldwins branch, but we went to the East Pasadena locale for their Sunday roast dinner since I had a hankerin' for Yorkshire pudding-- which unfortunately, was not the Yorkshire pudding I expected. The Yorkshire pudding's texture was cake-y. It wasn't light and airy, nor did it have that custard egginess that defines Yorkshire pudding. The roast and sides were good though. Our dish and chips were also pretty good. The parking lot for the place is behind the restaurant and there's street parking in front. Other than their less than stellar Yorkshire pudding, Lucky Baldwins still has an extensive beer selection and menu of pub grub. The service and ambiance were what you'd expect from a Lucky Baldwins.

Located between Allen Avenue and Pasadena City College is Lucky Baldwin's Trappiste. It is known for its great selections of beer, mixed drinks, food, and atmosphere. Over 65 beers on tap and about 100 beers available chilled, Lucky's is an adventure every time. Taps are constantly being changed and the beers available will put a smile on your face. In addition, this is the only Lucky Baldwins location featuring a full bar. Hand crafted cocktails are available. Staff will assist you with your questions and help you make a selection. The food that is available ranges from great chicken wings, burgers with fresh cut fries, to bangers and mash. Specials appear frequently. Ask your server what is available. The Chicken Chipotle Sandwich, The Lucky Burger with fresh cut fries, the Spicy Chicken Wings, the Cobb Salad chicken tenders, housemade potato chips,The Bread Pudding dessert are my favorite orders. I enjoy fresh soup, when it is available. I miss the full body texture and flavor of their original chili recipe that is no longer on the menu. This neighborhood meeting place has an eclectic clientele. Families, students, and international visitors find Lucky Baldwin's Trappiste the place to meet. Tuesday night trivia is always very popular. Austin is a great host and creates an entertaining evening. There are three Lucky Baldwin's Pubs... let people know that you will meet them at Trappiste on Colorado Boulevard.

came here on July 19, after I stopped by samys camera. Just right across the street from samys camera; there it is... Belgian trappiste... I haven't been here for 2 decades so it was very nice re visiting again. The Belgian beers were excellent and so was the Guinness steak and mushroom pot pie. Would give this place a 5 star if customers could purchase Belgian beer and bring it home..

Came here with my brother, before he went to work. Perfect timing as it was mid afternoon 3 pm. Looks like the place is great for a beer and watching games. Good selection of beers, and typical bar food. Food was ok. Originally ordered calamari and after 10 minutes was told there was none. Ok , Ordered 10 piece wings and chicken tenders. Drinks , one ale and an Arnold Palmer . Tab $68 Overpriced bar food. Beers was great. Service unfortunately like the other reviews , seemed as if we were a bother. If one doesn't like dealing with the public please find an online job. My recommendation sit at the bar , enjoy the beer , a game and eat next door at the pizza parlor

Blah, oil was obviously too hot = fries overcooked. Looks like a typical Sysco distribution French fry product.
M R.

Wow! Has this place declined! Yes, the other reviews are accurate, the food is God Awful. I used to like to come here for a pint and fries (chips). They no longer have traditional, thick cut, steak fries - just the same old Sysco type crap everyone else carries. To top it off they were burnt beyond recognition (see photo). If a place can't make french fries imagine what their other food is like. Maybe they're trying to uphold the reputation of terrible British food. Very sad, I used to like this place but Lucky Baldwin has begun their death spiral. There are better options in Pasadena like Blind Donkey. Management should stop with the Yelp excuses as damage control and put their efforts towards making their dining experience and food worthwhile for their customers.

The establishment was named after Elias Jackson "Lucky" Baldwin - a prominent 19th century businessman who purchased over 40,000 acres of land in SoCal including Rancho Santa Anita, which became the foundation for Arcadia, Baldwin Park, & Baldwin Hills. He also built the opulent Baldwin Hotel & Theatre in San Francisco. I've been here in the past to watch Soccer matches with friends. The vibe is lively, especially during a match. Inside is reminiscent of a cozy countryside pub with exposed brick & wooden beams. The outdoor patio is dog friendly (they even have a doggie menu), and it is charming at night with the lights. My friend and I stopped in for a drink. He had a beer and I had a glass of Chandon. (They do have a full bar.) The bartender was friendly and checked on us frequently. We enjoyed our visit and conversation. I'm sure this place will be packed during World Cup. *Dog Friendly *Adjacent parking garage (90 mins free) or metered street parking.

Happy to say…read moreit's still the same cozy, welcoming place, with friendly servers and a beer selection that's hard to beat -- possibly, it can't be beaten at all. That said, when I'm in a Pub I tend to go for Guinness or some kind of 1/2 & 1/2, and this time I chose Smithwick's with a Guinness topper. My bartender, Sarah, proffered a perfect poor, with a smile and a laugh, and I was ready for a good time. The menu is packed with traditional pub favorites plus other general sandwiches and salads, etc. I decided on their Reuben, which is built with Corned Beef, Swiss, Sauerkraut, both Russian AND Mustard, and it's served with fresh cut Fries. The sandwich was hearty and generously made, with flavorful corned beef boasting all the best of the pickling spices without too much salt -- the cook knows how to balance flavors. The sauerkraut and melty Swiss provided a rich, acidic contrast to the beef, an effect echoed by the blending of Russian with Brown Mustard. Then there was the bread -- an artisan rye with good flavor, appealing texture and just the right amount of fresh seeds to let you know this bread came from an oven not a bag. Fries were hand cut, as advertised, arriving hot and crispy with just the right dusting of salt -- a perfect match for the Reuben. This being Monday night, it was quiet on Colorado Blvd., and the restaurant had only a few people at dinner time. While this was a laid-back visit, I'm well aware the place can get busy and boisterous when people descend on their back-alley entrance, and it's hard to know which scenario would be better: the high energy pulse or the calm conversation. Best to come in multiple times for a proper scientific analysis (as well as several cold pints and a few very good meals).

It was a great place for some casual, mildly literary drinking on a Thursday night. The bar was in an alley, and I was happy to find free, easy street parking right outside the alley entrance. The alley was well lit enough that it didn't feel sketchy, though if I were inclined to beat someone up, this would probably be a convenient place to do it. The space was slightly below ground, down a flight of stairs from the alley. It felt like an Irish pub/sports bar with a tap list of California beers in addition to Coors Light and Guinness. Service was friendly and reasonably fast. I had a Made West Hazy IPA and a Pizza Port Amber, both of which I've had and enjoyed several times in several places over the years. I also ate some fries that were lying around, probably but not certainly by someone I at least sort of know. They weren't bad. I live kind of far from Pasadena and T. Boyle's isn't a destination bar, but I'd come back for another round or two after Vroman's. It's a comfortable spot with good draft beer, where you can relax and have some conversations.

When we walked in, there was a tall, bald male bartender and a blonde female bartender working--neither of whom I've seen here before. We ordered two drinks, but the service from the male bartender was inattentive from the start. At one point, my friend tried to get someone's attention to ask for a lime and wasn't acknowledged. She ended up grabbing a lime herself from the garnish tray--which I understand isn't ideal--but the response we got was completely out of line. The male bartender became immediately hostile and started aggressively cursing at my friend. When I calmly asked the female bartender if this was normal behavior, he inserted himself into the conversation and said, "she put her fucking hand in the fucking jar," in a very confrontational tone. I tried to de-escalate the situation and respectfully explained that there was no reason to speak to us that way, but he continued the hostility and ultimately told us to "get the fuck out." At that point, I paid for our drinks and we left. What made this especially disappointing is that this has never been our experience here before. We've always enjoyed this bar and have had positive interactions with the regular staff. If this had been my first visit, I would not come back. I understand that what my friend did wasn't appropriate, but it absolutely did not justify being yelled at and cursed out. I hope management addresses this, because this kind of behavior is not reflective of the bar I've come to know.

The Brewery has a large parking lot however it gets full pretty quickly, if you get lucky you can also find some parking in the neighborhood street adjacent, or there is street parking for 2 hours on the main street. Yesterday was a pretty packed day, the main back patio with umbrellas was packed with people as there was an artist doing doggy portraits on that side. The back patio is disconnected from the brewery so you have to walk back and forth if you want to refill. I would say that side is more in the sun, so even with umbrellas it's a bit hotter on that side. The brewery is pretty cool inside, they have two separate bars to order from, one is the Beer bar, and one is the coffee/tea/ other things bar. I tried their Shibuya rice lager which was ice cold and very refreshing for a hot day. Our group also ordered the Really big pretzel, and Nachos which were pretty delicious. It is quite small with about 4 tables, but the sidewalk has quite a bit of foot traffic, and this is where we were able to set up camp with the fosters to mingle and meet with people who wanted to meet the doggies. With a couple hours of free time in Pasadena, Stone Brewing Tap Room is a great place to stop for…read moresome drinks while getting laptop work done (they have wifi!), read a book, or doomscroll in a beautiful patio space watching comer & goers from the train station. I went solo but they have tables in tons of sizes so group hangs and dates are good here, too! Personally, I love a good people watching spot and enjoyed hanging out at Stone yesterday afternoon. I grabbed a tall two top in the corner of the outdoor patio and was super relaxed. The staff was great, helping me with recommendations and super quick & generous on the pours. I came in to try a 2016 Imperial Russian Stout I saw they had tapped and ended up trying taster size portions of 6 beers - all very solid. I'm biased to love deep cuts so the 10.6% Imperial Russian Stout was my fav of the day but I also enjoyed the lightness of the Stone Wil Power, a 4.5% fruited kettle sour with mango, tangerine and lychee. They have a ton of indoor seating but also the patio is just so nice & relaxing here. Very chill, quiet vibes and they open at 12pm on weekdays. Perfect atmosphere for work meetings or a liquid lunch meetup. Even the bathroom was cool with colorful grafitti abound. I liked the whole vibe of Stone. It's a cool brewery plopped down in the middle of Pasadena! For non-beer people, a Miller Lite is 4.2% in comparison so why not have a much tastier craft beer in place of that swill! Really enjoyed Stone Brewing in Pasadena and it was a perfect experience. I will absolutely be back!

It's been a long time since I've been here! My wife and I had some time to kill before our lunch…read morereservation at Houston's across the street and decided to stop by for a drink. When did they start selling frozen margaritas?! My wife loved hers! She's not so much a beer drinker, so this was perfect! I opted for the Stone Delicious Double IPA and it didn't disappoint. The "beertenders" were also great and offered recommendations from their vast menu of beers on tap. I also noticed that they still also fill growlers, which is amazing! I'll have to bring mine next time so that I can take some home for the ones that aren't bottled or canned. Parking is readily available underground and it was $1 for us being there almost an hour. Looks like parking is $1 for the first two hours and an additional $2 for each additional hour with a $12 max. Also, don't forget to download their app and register - there's currently a limited time promotion for 50% off your first pint!
