The best tomahawk steak I've ever tasted! Tina, our server, was amazing--very professional, friendly, and attentive!Everyone at the restaurant was amazing! The service was excellent, and we had such a wonderful experience. The owner even came by to ask if everything was okay and gave us dessert. So impressive! We really appreciated the great service and hospitality.
Okay so I've always walked by this place and wonder what it would be like to eat here. I decided to go celebrate for my birthday one day and we did not have a really great experience. First, the ambiance - they're playing spanish music. The seats are super worn out and torn. The service - Sorry, I try never to call our waiters by name but Sandra was just horrible. She was cold to us from the start. When we asked for something she would answer "sure....." as if we were bothering her. She basically ignored us the whole time we were there. We had to flag her down, and even then we had to ask another waiter for service. The only time she came immediately was to pick up the check. As we were leaving, she didn't even acknowledge us as we walked out. While the host and other waiters thanked us for coming. I know I sound so entitled but this experience just left such a bad taste in my mouth. The food was also not that great.. We all got pasta. Bolognese (2/5) - The pasta was not cooked all the way. It kind of tasted like it was just microwaved. The pasta was all stuck together. I really had to pry it apart. My plate was black and you can kind of see fingerprints and smudges all over it. Kind of dry but the meat was good. Gnocchi (4/5) - Nothing really special, just tasted like Gnocchi! But I enjoyed it. Ravioli Costine (4/5) - This one was also kind of good, it had a slight weird after taste but was still pretty good. Bucatini Pomodor Pomodoro (2/5) - This was just okay, Super dry. Focaccia Bread (5/5) - This was probably my favorite. The bread with olive oil and vinegar is so good!
Sunday Brunch is great. Lemon Ricotta pancakes, Brown Butter Waffle, and NY Steak! Yummy. I've been for dinner but will definitely have Mi Piace as a brunch option. Service is exceptional !
Mi Piace, we look on yelp and find where we are going to have our monthly staff luncheon and we picked here. We started off the classic pizza and the calamari were very fresh. I really enjoyed the pizza I will in New York recently and had a lot of good pizza. I had the short rib ravioli it was very good. The ravioli is made fresh. Another co- worker had the same thing. The food presentation was very good. A co worker ordered Insalada de Tios I just call it the salad with onion rings it was good as well. My other co worker ordered the pescatore if you like food like this go to Mi Piace and order it I don't eat it but watching her eat and almost made me change my mind. We tried serveral deserts. We shared three deserts Creme Brulee, Creme Brulee chesecake and Lemon Meringue Tart. Lemon Meringue Tart was good give is 7-10. Creme Brulee Cheesecake give 9-10 because unique not a lot of people serve it. Creme Brulee give it 7-10. Rhonda, our waitress, was excellent and kind. The service was very good and I will definitely return. The restrooms were not very clean, but I don't think they're responsible for that.
Came here before a concert at the Rose Bowl. Was 15 minutes late but they sat us without any issue. Server came over to us quickly. We had a few different things including a chopped salad, chicken piccata and a fettuccine pasta with a meatball on the side. All were very delicious especially the chicken piccata. Everything on their menu looked very good. Some guy next to me guy a smoked old fashioned which smelled incredible. My only complaint would be the bathrooms that you have to walk up a ramp in a hot corner of a building to go get. The men's restroom ran out of soap. I had told one of the hostess and she said she'd get someone on it right away. I went back almost 15 minutes later and still no soap. A little concerned about the servers or cooks not washing their hands.
I love Mi piace!!! Been coming here since I was a young girl. Every time I come, the food is always fresh and hot, and they have really good authentic Italian food. They even have brunch and a massive menu you can choose from from pastas, salmon, and chicken. Today I ordered the free range organic chicken, and it was definitely tender and very moist. I will give it a 5/5. For my drinks, I ordered a Prosecco and they give you a decent size but you may have to order two lol. The Customer Service is exceptional they have good server name Rhonda who was amazing!!! and the owner is always very amicable and generous. This is my favorite Italian restaurant in Pasadena. I highly recommend you come here if you want some good Italian food and a good ambience. Very good for date night and celebrations. They have very good desserts here as well. Mi Piace is one of my favorite restaurants. I had not been here for lunch and thought it would be a nice treat to take a new teacher before school started. The restaurant is still as beautiful as ever. The hostess is friendly and the service was impeccable. The food, however; was not impressive. I ordered the poached lobster sandwich and it had no flavor. The potato chips were good; I love the salt and vinegar taste and think it really complimented the sandwich. The lobster was perfectly cooked and although small, it makes for a perfect lunch size meal. My friend ordered the chicken on focaccia and she said it was good although it looked a little dry to me. Overall; I was disappointed. I told her we'll have to try coming back for dinner and give them another chance.
Truly excellent. The food, ambience, and service were wonderful. All the staff are so friendly and knowledgeable. This was our second time dining here, and we will absolutely be back.
Service was phenomenal. I forgot the servers name but we were there on Saturday and he was great. Apps - bruschetta - this was so good. The tomatoes popped and the avocado added a great touch - skinny fries with sauce. My wife and niece liked the curry flavor I liked the truffle one. Very solid and addicting Mains - the pastas we selected were all good. From the vodka to the shrimp and ravioli. A lot of flavors and they look like small portions. But they were more than enough Dessert - favorite part of the meal. We tried the crème brûlée and a chocolate dessert. Both were crazy good.

I wanted to like Mi Piace, but overall it was a disappointing experience. Starting with the negatives: the wine glasses and napkins were dirty, the menus were falling apart, and the tables didn't match or sit level, which made the restaurant feel less polished than expected. The food also felt overpriced for the quality. The steak was overcooked and plated poorly, and the presentation overall was underwhelming. The Margherita pizza was disappointing -- the mozzarella both looked and tasted odd. The Caesar salad lettuce was clearly not fresh. I'm honestly surprised when people call this the best Italian restaurant in Pasadena, especially when there are so many places serving fresh pasta and higher-quality dishes. That said, the staff was friendly. The bartender and our waiter Miguel were both very nice and attentive, even though the cork broke while opening my wine bottle. The Brussels sprouts were excellent, and the filet mignon beef tartare was one of the better dishes we tried. Overall, I'd give Mi Piace 3/5 stars. Some good moments, but not enough for me to come back.
I love Mi Piace I have been going here for years. The owner is always kind professional and he's always the same no matter when you see him. we went today and it was just a wonderful time. The food was made fresh and hot. I had spaghetti with meatballs and espresso drink that was delicious. I also had Caesar salad and I of course, dessert that was complimentary by the owner . The tiramisus and special custard with caviar was fantastic. It was so so good. Beautiful atmosphere with windows to see out of and nice small bar in the back. I will go and try the breakfast brunch since I haven't been there in a long time.
First time back to Mi Piace in a long time, and I'm very glad to have rediscovered this top notch gem in Old Town. The space is as inviting as ever, bright and cheery, and sparkling clean. The white table cloths up the ante a bit at a time when so many places opt for bare tables and industrial funk. Our server was friendly and made sure to check on us repeatedly, offering refills and making sure we had everything we needed. Soft drinks arrived quickly, and our food arrived without any delay at all. I ordered the Italian Wedge Salad, which is a creatively-presented and generous offering that makes for a light-yet-filling lunch. The crisp, cool iceberg comes topped with a fresh and tasty melange of salami, olives, peppers, onions, tomatoes and croutons, enveloped with a rich and savory Gorgonzola Ranch Dressing. This is a terrific and flavorful salad that really hits the spot, and the dressing in particular is crave-inducing. My friend ordered the Sesame Chicken, served with a lemon scallion sauce, pasta and sautéed fresh veggies. While I didn't taste it, it looked fantastic, and my buddy said it was quite good. For at least 25 years, Mi Piace has been a reliably excellent Italian restaurant in Pasadena. I'm sure the menu has evolved, and changes have happened, but after an absence of a few years it's nice to see that the things that really matter have remained much the same -- which is to say, Great!
I wish this place was as good as the reviews had made it. The service was great I will say that, but the food is mediocre at best. My mom got the Alfredo tratufo and it was completely bland :c it lacked any truffle flavor or salt, and the pasta was over cooked that it the noodles broke everytime we picked it up with the fork. The mushroom pizza was delicious in flavor but unfortunately way too much cheese, don't get me wrong I lovee cheese and if it was mozzarella I wouldn't complain but it was fontina cheese so it made it tiring to chew. My Lumache salmon was good and had a creamy light tomato taste to it. I highly recommend serving the olive oil and vinaigrette on a shallow plate so the bread can absorb both flavors, instead of the ramekins used, it makes it almost impossible to get the vinaigrette unless you dunked your whole focaccia into the olive oil. I see plenty of good reviews so I assume the chef had a very off day, we came on Tuesday July 14 at around 8:30. read more

4 stars for service and the food. Our waitress was super attentive and helpful. The kitchen accommodated our allergens. They had a special room to store our stroller. Losing a star for something management needs to bring to the owners attention- this is a family restaurant. Add a baby changing station to your bathroom! read more
I came here with my girlfriend on a Saturday night with a reservation at 7 and it was packed full of people in this establishment. I came at 6:45 just to possibly get seated earlier, only to not get seated until 7:30. I'm not the biggest fan of having to wait half hour longer for a reservation, but they were pretty busy after all. Once we got called over, we got placed at a small table lined up close to other small tables. It honestly felt a little too close to my liking to near the other parties, as I like a more intimate experience. It was pretty loud too, so it made it hard to listen at times. It was also strange that they changed the lighting halfway through the dinner, as it went from moderate lighting to a lot darker lighting, which made it harder to see what we were eating without flashing a camera light if needed. Anyway, it was another 10-15 minutes after getting seated before we saw our server, and he was very quick and courteous. My girlfriend and I decided to get brussel sprouts to start off and two pastas (gnocchi and linguine w/truffle) as the mains. It also came with complimentary bread, which was pretty good as it had a nice garlicky taste. The brussel sprouts were also nicely cooked with a mild hot honey taste to it. And then we got our pastas, and it ranged from ok to disappointing. The linguine with truffle, which I also added shrimp, was decent. The pasta was cooked nicely, wasn't salty, and shrimp tasted good. However, it just lacked that extra "oomph" to the sauce and felt a little one dimensional other than the lemon added to it. Perhaps it needed some added cheese and chili flakes to add to it, which I saw some tables had, but ours did not. The gnocchi though, I was not a fan of. The pasta texture was fine, but the sauce was just plain to me. It honestly tasted like I was just eating cooked plain gnocchi and nothing more. The total bill came out to be $102 before tip for this dinner, and it was honestly not worth it. For an Italian place, despite the ingredients being of good quality, it was disappointing that the flavor just wasn't there for the pasta we had. There are better Italian restaurants in the LA/SGV area than Mi Piace for sure. Hell I will be honest, I have had better pasta dishes at the local SGV area Asian spots for cheaper too. 2.5 experience for me, but I'm going to have to round down for the Yelp system due to the longer than usual wait and poor value in relation to the overall experience. read more

We came for my grandma's 96th Birthday and the restaurant provided stellar service to make the experience fabulous. The waitress was attentive getting our order straight away, providing suggestions, and topping off our drinks. In advance, we made preparations with the restaurant to provide small accommodations like seating for my grandma so she is comfortable. She was very comfortable and the restaurant took care of all of us. Thank you! We ordered several entrees and highly recommend all of them! You can't go wrong with any of their foods. Everything came out fast and satisfactory. -Pepperoni, Mushroom Sausage Pizza- Delicious. -Seafood Pasta -Meat Lasagne -Spaghetti with Meatballs The ambiance is very classic Italian and family-oriented. Food was superb but service was unfortunately disappointing - probably because the place was packed and they probably didn't have enough staff. I love the food and the service (always consistent), but after the last visit, we left a bit disappointed. The cleanliness was lacking! The tables had crumbs, the menus and their inside sheet protectors were filthy, and the glassware & plates were not presentable. Our waitress was great - she was kind enough to change the wine glass and was attentive overall. Unfortunately, I don't foresee visiting anytime soon read more

Went to Mi Piace with friends after a fun day exploring Pasadena. We had reservations and were seated right away, which was a great start especially since one of our friends had recommended the spot. Drinks were ordered quickly and arrived in a reasonable time. We started with two appetizers: the Brussels sprouts and the fresh baked focaccia (with and without cheese to accommodate dietary needs). Both came out fairly quickly and were a nice start to the meal. Unfortunately, things went downhill after we placed our dinner orders. It took over an hour and a half to receive our meals, and that was only after we brought it to the manager's attention. Once we spoke up, the food arrived about 15 minutes later but by then we were already two hours into our reservation. It honestly felt like our order may have been misplaced, especially since nearby tables who were seated after us received their meals much sooner. When the food did arrive, it was warm and flavorful. I ordered the Vongole Veraci (clams and linguini), which had good flavor and a generous portion of clams. After dinner, the owner came by to apologize and offered dessert or drinks, but we were ready to leave at that point. He did make an effort to make things right by providing a discount on our bill, which we appreciated. The ambiance is nice overall, though it can get a bit loud with the music and crowd. Service, however, definitely needs improvement based on this experience. Overall, I'm giving it 3 stars. I'd be willing to try it again for the food, but hoping for a much smoother experience next time. read more
A stable for many years in Old Town Pasadena. It's been a while since I frequented Mi Piace and I'm glad that I did this week! We did not make an advance reservation but we were seated right away. I ordered my favorite Linguine pescatore and it came in a bowl of fresh seafood with a perfectly executed garlicky tomato-based broth, perfect for a cold fall night. The food was delicious, not your regular spaghetti and meatballs! The drinks were creative and tasty, customer service was top notch! The ambiance of the place felt so welcoming and the music just made it all better!!! My man and I came out to celebrate our 4 year anniversary and he picked such a perfect spot to do just that! Terrible service. Wanted to give it a weak 3 stars but just can't do it. Wanna' know how bad the service was? I actually had to get water myself when our water glasses were empty. It gets worse. Our server spent the least amount of time he possibly could. Every time he came to our table (which wasn't much), he'd be gone before we could even finish telling him what we needed. We ordered focaccia bread that we didn't get. We reminded him when he finally came around after we received our main course, by then, we didn't even want it. For dessert, we had a chocolate soup. It's basically a lava cake. They ran out of whipped cream! Can you believe it? It was just like eating a melted dark chocolate bar. Two bites and I was over it. What a waste of money. Not only that, but the tables are packed close together. The woman at the table next to us was ear hustling the whole time. Apparently, what we had to say was more interesting than the person she was with. This is one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had in a very long time. Both food and service were sub-par. They don't have parking and don't validate parking. I went here because my friend said it was her favorite Italian restaurant. She was embarrassed that she had picked this place. I think next time I'll take her to Olive Garden. It would definitely be a step up! I wish I were kidding. read more

One of my absolute favorite places to dine in Pasadena. Every time I walk in, I'm greeted with the warmest welcome, it truly feels like family. As an Italian, I rarely go out for Italian food because my standards are sky‑high, but Mi Piace is one of the very few places I trust. I've been coming here for over 10 years, and the vibe is always incredible. I love that I can pop in for a quick drink at any time of day and it's always lively and fun. It's the kind of spot that fits any mood: a beautiful family dinner, a girls' night out, or even a super kid‑friendly meal. I recently brought my son, and everyone was so kind to him too. Their osso buco and vongole pasta are my go‑tos--classic, comforting, and authentically Italian. And the cocktails? Easily on par with the fancy spots in LA. Mi Piace in Pasadena offers a 50's "white tablecloth" intalia restaurant ambiance. Our service was not great (had to ask for things multiple times before she delivered.) The brunch menu was a lacking so we ordered from the main menu. Italian fare was well done. However, the food Felt overpriced for what it was. The owner was visiting tables. Patrons seem to be a faithful group of "regulars" - which says a lot. However, we thought the prices were not matched by the actual food, ambiance or service. I've been twice to Mi Piace but doubtful will return for a third. read more

They do Italian food well here. White tablecloths, great service. We came for lunch and they were still offering the brunch menu. I started with a glass of OJ [insert white bronco joke here] and a cappuccino. I had the chicken piccata which was good and came with spaghetti on the side. The chicken itself was delicious, lightly breaded and fried, topped with artichokes, capers and a mild sauce. I wish the sauce was a bit punchier. I feel like it needed a bit more lemon or acidity from the capers. The spaghetti on the side was al dente and lightly seasoned. I understand this may be the traditional way to serve chicken piccata, but I would have prefered the spaghetti on the plate with the chicken and sauce. I want enough sauce to cover all of the pasta. Additionally, the way the spaghetti was served (sauceless) made the noodles stick together in a way that was unpleasant to get on the fork. I would have prefered an angel hair pasta, served under the chicken and sauce. This is not the type of restaurant I usually patronize. This is the type of place that you bring parents and grandparents that want a classic dish done the classic way. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. But it lacks the imaginative spark that I'm looking for when I go out to eat. Overall, the food is good, service is great. This spot is obviously well-loved by Pasadena and I'm sure will be for many years. read more

A co-worker recommended this restaurant to me, as I'd shared I had family coming in from out of town. We were promptly greeted and seated. We started off with Caprese Burrata appetizer and it tasted like the tomatoes had been picked right before they were put on the plate. They were so fresh! I had the Linguini Pesto and my daughter had the lasagna. Both were incredible and bursting with flavor. My cousin the Spicy Pacheco w/salmon and finished every bite. We topped off the evening with the Tiramisu. It was light and fluffy and, like everything else that night, filled with flavor. The owner took the time to greet us and check in, a practice that is not as common as it used to be. It made for a very pleasurable dining experience. Our server found a nice balance between being present to check in and giving us space to enjoy our food and company. I would definitely go back. read more
An elegant restaurant with phenomenal staff. They constantly checked up on me, poured my sparkling water and asked if I liked the food. I ordered the mamma Mia pizza which has honey on it. The salami on it was spicy and peppers and fantastic! Although adding honey makes it more greasy, so note to self to omit honey on pizza. But it was delicious. The steak tartare was a star of the menu, and I had the almond rocha cake which has white cake layers if you don't want a 100% chocolate cake. I loved the place, the location, the service and food. It's not totally authentic and the music is mostly Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, but still a lovely place to dine. read more

Eleanor was an absolute delight--her bright personality and positivity truly elevated the meal. The food itself was just as impressive: my friend enjoyed the lamb chops while I had the tagliatelle with prawns, followed by a dessert duo of crème brûlée cheesecake and the chocolate trio (because why stop at one?). The booths could use a little reupholstering and the bathrooms are a bit of an adventure to find, but those are minor notes in an otherwise excellent experience. Watching the chefs at work while dining was the perfect finishing touch--like dinner and a show, only tastier. read more

Under guidelines when last there it was outside. As Davina mentions both sidewalk and under a tent. I like the under the tent space better personally, more separate from the foot traffic.
