We were a party of 8 and decided to dine at Mi Dia. It was a cold Monday night in Dallas. Inside seating was available right away, but the AC was way too high. Coming from DC, I was wondering why the heater wasn't on. It was so cold inside. So we waited about 20 minutes for a table outside, which was much better than sitting inside. The salsa that is served as you are seated was just too spicy. They mix this red and green salsa, but I wasn't able to eat it at all. I asked them for a mild salsa, and they didn't have any. So for the very first time in my life, I didn't eat any chips/salsa at a Mexican restaurant in the US. Yes - it was that spicy for me. The menu seems extensive, with a couple of veggie options as well. I chose to have the SOUTHWESTERN TACO SALAD. The salad was very blah. Even after mixing the dressing in it, it was just mediocre. I was hoping for a crunch and flavorful salad, but sadly I left unsatisfied. Perhaps the other veggie options on the menu are better than the salad that I tried. read more

This place was amazing. I went with a couple of friends and we all tried each other's food and it was all just delicious. The brunch menu was so so good. And our server was so friendly. It was a tad pricey but you get what you pay for and this place was absolutely worth it. Can't wait to go back. read more

Had an amazing meal. Hatch chili pork enchiladas were so good. The red sauce is fabulous. Cocktails were out of this world. Our server Ricardo was spot on with suggestions. We ordered one margarita that was a bit too sweet. Was replaced without question with one that resulted in a second being ordered. We are already making plans to come back on our next visit. And friends who live in town are planning to bring their family. Highly recommend!!! read more

Excellent food and service. Try Tex-Mex or Southwest. They have both and a large assortment of tequila plus Pacifico beer

Great location. Food is fancy and overpriced honestly. Not bad but just far more around that's better. Cool restaurant and every time we have had over the top service but we also are one of the only ones there which should tell you a lot. read more

Came for lunch with a group. We made a reservation...it's a must to make a reservation if you dont want to wait an hour. The service was 5 stars. The chips are thin, I love those kind. Salsa was okay. Small menu for lunch. Ordered pick 2, tamale (pork) and beef enchilada. It comes with beans and rice. Tamale was more masa than pork. The beef in the enchilada was good ....beans were mediocre. I've had better plates. The tableside guac was awesome. They added bacon which was a great treat. Queso was also good. Had the house margaritas (for national margarita day)...they were pretty good for being $5 on special. read more

Digusting food ordered the sour cream enchilada it came not with a sour cream sauce but sour cream on top...the chicken was dry inside and the rice was also dry..beans tasted off like they been sitting around a day or two. no flavor on anything. will not go back horrible read more

Went there for lunch for the first time and I was beyond impressed! The food was great and not at all expensive. I got the lunch special #4: an enchilada made your way (which they have 3-4 different variations but you can request any salsa/filling combination) a side salad and chicken tortilla soup. That was $11. The drinks are delicious albeit a tad pricey ($13); but they do have a happy hour that starts at 3PM. I ordered the Dulce Enfuego and had it not been lunch time I would've probably gotten another. But the thing that impressed me the most was our waiter. She was a class act. Young but highly professional. Knew the menu like the back of her hand and sounded enthusiastic about it as well. The way she described the cuts of meat made my mouth water and I don't even eat red meat! If more businesses would take a page out of her book (or Mia Días because they trained her well) they would defined have more return customers. As a business owner myself, I even took notes lol! Thanks Haylie! The only thing I was disappointed with were the Sopapillas. I'm not sure if it's because I ordered them to go, but by the time we ate them they were kind of soggy and texture was a little off. Something about them also gave me pretty bad heartburn and I don't ever get heartburn. All in all a wonderful experience! I'll definitely be back. read more

I've been wanting to try this place for quite some time. Stopped in for lunch around 1 pm. The place was quite busy. I had a short wait which may be a problem at times if you were limited on time for lunch but I wouldn't say that it was excessive. I was promptly greeted by my server. I ordered the table side guacamole and got everything in it. I'm not sure what exactly this meant other than it was coming with BACON! I'm not a huge meat eater but if given the option to get bacon in something, I'm gonna take it! They will apparently cater the heat to your liking and I asked for it to be made medium. I. Glad I did t go with more spice. This ended up being about right. The price was $12 and portion huge. A bit much for one person but I wanted to try it and was glad I did. I had enough to bring home and share with the family. I didn't see a smaller, pre-prepared option on the menu for one person but I also didn't ask. I ordered the taco, enchilada, and tamale plate with rice and beans. Priced at about $11 if I remember correctly. It was decently priced and tasted fine. Nothing special honestly but it was fine. I wish I had ordered something a bit more unique but I was trying to compensate for the higher prices appetizer. There were other menu items I will try next time. Overall, I was pleased with Mi Día and will be back again. With tip and drink, it was a $40 lunch. Certainly not an every day option but nice for a change. I can't wait to come back and try some other options! read more

The atmosphere was fun. The menu choices were amazing. It took us awhile to decide what to order. The CHIPs were light, crispy, and lightly salted. Our waiter would refill the bowl at just the right time. The shrimp enchiladas and the seafood enchiladas were surprisingly small ... size of a taco but delicious with their unique sauces. The duck carnitas taco had an asian Chile sweet sauce. It was not bad but would have liked to try a different sauce. read more

Tried this place for the first time and didn't really care for it. They are very reluctant to make substitutions or changes, which seems odd for a scratch kitchen. The table side guacamole was ok but nothing special. I had the Mi Dia salad with chicken, which was not that great. The dressing was very good, but the salad lacked texture. My husband had the nachos, which he didn't really enjoy. The steak was good but the chicken was way too thin and kind of chewy. Their frozen margaritas are very fresh and yummy, but that's not enough to bring us back. The prices are a bit too high for what you get. It is definitely a miss for us. read more

This is my first time coming here. L suggested we go somewhere with good drinks and good food. Mi dia did not disappoint. We ordered the table side guacamole ($15) with all the fixings and even bacon. Wow delicious. Worth the price and could even split it with 4 people. We barely finished it with the two of us. The guacamole was seasoned well and very creamy. She had a mango margarita and I had a fuego margarita. Both drinks were good but hers made me want to order one for myself. Food wise we shared duck carnitas tacos. These are street size tacos but the meat was tender, juicy, and came with a great salsa. Overall a good place to hang out after work or just to grab good guacamole. Good service as well. read more

The Michoacán tacos are delicious! The Grapevine location seems to be a little better but can't pinpoint why.

Good food and drinks. A tad pricey, but that's the area. I was told they make seasonal changes to their menu. Please add mole!

NEW FAVORITE RESTAURANT (said the AZ transplant) If I could give 100 stars, I would. Another reviewer started the review referring to this place as something like "cute Tex Mex." THIS ISN'T A TEX MEX RESTAURANT! That's like calling a James Bond movie a comedy; Bond has some funny lines, but it's NOT COMEDY. So this review is dedicated to those yearning BEYOND Tex-Mex. No offense, Texas, but I'm from Arizona. I have an irrational drug-like craving for New Mexico Hatch chilis, and Tex-Mex NEVER meets my craving for spicy. Even if you bring me Cholula to douse on everything (face palm plant). The salsa has the gentle warming burn I'm looking for. I hear people ask for more "gringo friendly" salsa - MWA HA HA line is drawn on TexMex vs (just)Mex. It's amazing, Joy flowed through my veins as I felt the familiar warmth spread. O...M...G... when I tasted the red chili sauce on the "NEW MEXICO TAMPIQUEÑA" I literally thought, "I'M HOME." Since I've been in TX, I searched for New Mexican food, nope - the warming joy was nowhere to be found. Finally, in the "ethnic" isle of Walmart, I found dried NM Hatch red chilis! Followed the recipe on the bag, knew I could survive long-term in TX if I had to. Then I heard Mi Dia features some New Mexico items... The chips and salsa, strong medium-heat salsa, was INCREDIBLE. Every margarita is made "skinny," i.e. with agave nectar, which is the equivalent of angels singing. The 2 items we ordered from Santa Fe section were......... (speechless. moment of silence with eyes closed.........) Yes, THAT GOOD - for someone craving flavor beyond Tex Mex. We got the skirt steak with flat blue corn enchiladas and the pork and beef stew (not spicy but very savory). Both could stop New Mexican traffic.I had visions of hugging the owner like a refugee finding a welcoming country. We then checked out the sopapillas for you all. Good news, they pass with flying colors (what does that really MEAN??!). Bite after bite of honey-filled pillow, I was transported to New Mexico where I originally had them (never served with ice cream there). Mi Dia does them PERFECTLY. Not too doughy, not too sweet, not too sugared/cinnimoned, not to honeyed.... PERFECT. Oh BTW, I got the marg #2 on the list, with Jimador reposado. It's a semi-secret that this tequila is GREAT in margs, 100% agave, a solid mixer tequila. I was wary of the lemon instead of lime. I do prefer lime, but dang - in the moment of sipping, the lemon WORKS, far far better than I'd have ever expected. Trust the experts. Everyone in reviews swoons over the guac, I'm sure it's awesome, but it's very "safe." We didn't try it, because although we love guac, I was looking forward to gorging on the "Santa Fe" items. Plan was a success, OMG this is my FAVORITE FLAVOR PROFILE MEAL in our 15 months in DFW. I fear much of our income will now flow to Mi Dia.... and I surrender it happily! read more

This place is one of my favorite place for Mexican food. The food is exceptionally delicious and full of Mexican flavors. The salsas with the chips are simply addictive that reminds me of this old Mexican commercial that I just can't have one. The drinks are a must try as not one have I been disappointed with. We have gone to the Grapevine location many times and Love! It. So, when I discovered the Plano location I was anxious to try it. I give it two stars because it didn't rise to even basic levels of quality. The tamale was dry. Both the outside masa and chicken stuffing. My cheese enchilada was ok but very small with a minuscule amount of chili con carne. The flair as are good with a thin coating of chili concerned. It was happy hour so I got a house margarita on the rocks for $5. It was average. The service while adequate seemed forced and mechanical. They definitely don't have the client following as the Grapevine location because at 6:30 the place was only 1/2 full. I hate to be so brutally honest but know my fellow yelpers depend on spot on assessments. read more

Maybe it was the hype that heightened my expectations about this place. It had to be something but MDFS definitely let me down. The round bar, kitchen concept, and food presentation was pretty awesome for tex-mex. For apps, we had the table side guacamole and fajita nachos with chicken. The salsa while it had heat, it definitely lacked flavor. Aside from that, it was all good up to this point. Our entrees were pretty bland and just OK. We tried the Relleno, Cochinita, Salmon, and Sea Bass. It's not bad tex-mex, I just think there are better places in the area. The place was filled with people in their late 20s, 30s and 40s. Curiosity killed the cat so why not! read more

Trendy Decor, Wholly Unremarkable Food and Drink The decor is brilliant, the staff is warm and welcoming, the menu contains list after list of Tex-Mex Standards as well as Mi Dia's riffs on street tacos and the like, plus an up-to-the-minute craft cocktail list. Patrons range from screaming children to gorgeous gals and powerful business types to peaceful middle-aged couples and excited date-nighters. Expecting something a little different from "the usual," or at least foods more fresh-tasting since the restaurant tagline is "from scratch," and then receiving mostly foods right out of the blender, this experience was underwhelming. Upon arrival, you're met with a cold dish of salsa containing a sort of yin/yang swirl of pureed green and pureed red. Now keep in mind that the chips are thick and hearty beasts, the likes of which do not work well with the thin gruel of slightly piquant salsa, being better suited for heavy lifting such as with steak nachos. (Yes, yes, there is a hint of flavor in the salsa, but not a lot, probably since the stuff is more of a soupy style.) Moving on to drinks..."on tap" listings of "infused" tequilas are interesting, until you try the $9 shot of infused tequila, only to find it muddy, muddled, and dirty looking, removing any vestige of tequila taste and replacing it with whatever the "infusion" was, plus organic bits that could have come from a dirty glass, you just don't know. An infusion generally means just that - an infusion of taste, an inclusion of flavor, not an occlusion of cloudiness, soapiness and fragments floating in what should be a clear liquid. Anyway, just my opinion, and I'm entitled to it, since I have created my own infused tequilas and vodkas with similar flavors and nary a bit of unsightliness was part of the goal, let alone the presentation. Then there is the signature margarita - a silver-gray frozen whip of ice with a black straw and a tired lime wedge. This drink had enough ambiguity to have me leave it on the table unfinished, something I've never done before. Ah, but the street tacos...cute little things on a long rectangular platter, a micro of this and a micro of that, and a macro of ordinary, unexceptional colored "meat" in the center of each mini corn tortilla. The black bean puree had more flavor. The green rice was broken, cold, and devoid of life, with a dry, ugly texture and again, brilliantly lacking any savoriness. Not really a fan of this restaurant, but I will suggest it as the perfect place to gather, to meet, to hang out for a little while. The energy is good, the decor spot-on trend, and the noisy dining room begs you to speak up, enjoy your time here, and not worry much about details like bland tastes. If you aren't accustomed to the spicy, and if you'd prefer your Tex-Mex and your New-Mex with a little less zest and zing, Mia Dia is the right choice for a nice meal, attended by a caring, patient service staff, in a beautiful environment in the middle of dear Plano. read more

I waited for so long to go to Mi Dia! I finally got to go with a friend who loves it so I was super excited. Overall I wasn't as impressed as he was. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but I've had just as good or better in other places that didn't cost as much. It was pretty expensive for what we ordered. We ordered tacos (traditional and sea bass) and guacamole. I'm a big fan of fish tacos, and they were good, but Mi Cocina's tacos de pescado are way better. For great, affordable Tex-Mex I would go to Mi Cocina and for a really nice Tex-Mex lunch or dinner I would go to La Duni. read more

Mi Cocina move over. Don't leave and don't change because you're still the king....but, make room for a partner. Now that the curtain has raised on Plano's newest entry into the traditional Mexico City cuisine, we can report its great. Five star great. From drinks to service and comfortable upscale interior to delightfully different Mexican recipes this new location shines. Our visit yesterday was memorable, partly due to the tequila flights and tasty margaritas! The pulled pork chili rellano was one of best ever with two types of sauces (picture). Made from scratch salsa is irresistible and table side prepared guacamole is so tempting. The chicken street tacos-Chicken Tinga- were small but with four of them the meal was plenty. Will put this new entry at the top of the list (beside Mi Cocina)! A last note regarding children.... AGAIN. This nice upscale restaurant is not really kid friendly. However, today's millennial parents still know no bounds continuing to demand 'open ranges' for all ages of undisciplined unruly children. See the pic of our dining neighbor who wore the metal chip bowl as his hat while yelling/singing! Enjoy!!!!!! read more

Margaritas made with lemon juice? Whaaaaat? Basically this place just blew my mind. I love the margaritas, lemon juice is great, and their tequila selection leaves other restaurants in the dust. Cases Noble is my favorite, a must try. The dining room is bright with 2 walls of Windows, nice fountain outside, very comfortable seating and bar area. Staff seems to be on point. I have dined here 5 times now, and have had wonderful service each time. Ask for Juan Carlos if you are a first time diner. I give the food 4 stars. Very good, but not amazing or innovative. They have a plated brunch menu on the weekends, you can order off the dinner menu anytime. Prices are reasonable for the quality. I have posted some pictures of our food and the bar. Quesadillas and steak street tacos are a solid 4 stars. Give this place a try, especially for Sunday brunch. No wait 11am-2pm. read more

This place is GREAT. If you come here, make sure to request Leo as your waiter! He went above AND beyond to ensure we enjoyed our meal. Where to start?! This is a cutsy Tex-Mex place near Eatzi's and Cinemark 17. Great place to grab a bite to eat before seeing a show. When we first got there, I noticed there wasn't that many options for vegetarians other than "quesadillas" so I asked the waiter what he recommended and I know sometimes the Chef's will whip up something if you ask. Come to find out, they have a separate menu for vegetarians (and those who are gluten intolerant). SCORE! I ordered the Enchiladas Callejares, per Leo's recommendation and it did not disappoint. It's filled with tons of vegetables (not just your standard spinach and cheese) AND it wasn't drenched in cheese! I was please with his recommendation and happy to know that they offered so many vegetarian friendly options. Along with our meal, we ordered the Tableside Quacamole and the Al Pastor Queso Fundido (bacon on the side). My goodness, $15 for quacamole? Well, here, you DEFINITELY get your money's worth. The portion was HUGE! What is great is that it is made tableside and customized towards your taste. The Queso Fundido was also good, but nothing I cared to get again. It is melted cheese with different toppings mixed in and then rolled in a tortilla. We had a great experience here our first time and will definitely be back. Leo was a pleasure to have as our waiter. He kept checking on us to make sure everything was alright. He even mentioned if I didn't like the enchiladas, to let him know and he'll get something else for me- no problem. I really liked the red sauce that came with the Queso Fundido because it had a little kick to it. He later came out w/ a fresh side of the green tomatillo sauce they make in house and said it was his favorite because he likes spicy too so he thought I might like it. It was sooo good! His attention to us was immeasurable. Thanks Leo, you rock!! read more

The service doesn't matter if the music is so loud you can't hear it. Your spouse or date will not like not being able to hear you. No one will like their ears ringing all night. Great food! House marg was good, tasted very fresh and not too sweet. We got the tableside guacamole and everyone loved it. Again, great fresh ingredients. I got the duck enchiladas with mole sauce which was pretty good; the waiter raved about the mole sauce and it was pretty good but not as amazing as he made it out to be. Everyone really liked their entree. Service was pretty great; our waiter was personable and outgoing and very quick with everything. We were all weirdly impressed by his table-clearing skills. The booth was weirdly uncomfortable. It's like they tried to cram as many seats in as possible so we kept bumping feet and legs across the table. The booth was a weird depth that felt like it was made for taller people. I'd actually request a table instead of a booth if I returned, and I usually prefer a botoh. read more
