So, this was probably my 8th time in the last 2 1/2 months. Have always enjoyed myself, great food (amaaaaazing table side guacamole) and a sharp staff. All worthy of 5 's however, tnites experience, the mere action of the one person in position to set the best example for the staff and most importantly, taking care of a patron, made the worst decision without even entertaining or pursuing a possible fix, compelled a 2 post. That's a Management 101 type of thing. Wife and I had the super filling table side guacamole and decided to not be wasteful this time around. So, sharing an entree was a win. We went with MY usual - the traditional steak tacos (comes with 4) and asked for 2 of them to come without the onions and cilantro, they're always fresh and both are toppings right? Server advised that an approval from the manager would need to be given. I was surprised but figured any manager would approve. They're toppings. I watched as the server walked over to a manager (learned that it was actually the GM) and advised of our request. It takes a lot to stir me up and I was stirred when I personally observed this GM quickly and without any follow-up or hesitation shake his head in the no motion. Server returned and confirmed that we could not request that. Wow! Well, then I asked if I could order all of them without the toppings, was my way of determining if perhaps the steak is prepared with the toppings before hand and that was why it was impossible. Guess what? Ordering without the toppings was possible BUT apparently not doing 2 with and 2 without. Yup, scratching my head too. My opinion is that a person in a GM position should always be a solution maker, a forward thinker, an example. That's been my previous personal observation and experience at other establishments. Shame on the GM is how I feel and my decision to never return is the unfortunate result from having witnessed this shameful decision. Besides all of that, Monique was a great personality and took great care of us. She expressed empathy and better judgement than the GM himself. Their table-side guacamole is a must try, just the ingredients are much more than any other Mex places I tried and need a big push cart to carry all of the stuffs. How can anyone not like such fresh guacamole with tons of bacon bits? delicious. Quesadilla de Huitlacoch is a Mexican delicacy of corn fungus (also known as Mexican truffle) which I loved that flavor when I was introduced to it in Monterrey by our Hispanic colleagues. I ordered Enchiladas de Jaiba with lumps of crab and Chilean sea bass wrapped in house made corn tortillas, fresh and tasty. Wife & daughter shared Relleno Al Carbon, prepared with roasted poblano instead of it being fried, brings back memories of our favorited Relleno in Salado. Had house-made Flan for dessert, and it was well prepared also with a firm texture and unique flavor. This is what a Mexican Flan should taste like. On my next trip, I will try Duck Carnitas Enchiladas topped with Mole Coloradito. My compliments to the Chef! read more

Oh, my. Tex-Mex heaven, you guys. This location is brand new off of Dallas Parkway. The plush booths, the modern light fixtures, the circular bar topped with a tequila tower... everything is gorgeous. Based on the stellar reviews, I was more than excited to try it out. Unfortunately, I had to work a shift tonight, so alcohol was not an option this visit :( Vincente was super attentive and just a sweetheart. It's been awhile since I've experienced such quality service. He was very genuine and made great recommendations. The manager also made rounds, which is a sign of a successful business. This also gave me an opportunity to brag on our waiter a bit. As a homegrown Texan, a good sign of a Tex-Mex restaurant to me is the quality of the chips & salsa. The chips were sturdy, crisp, and not greasy (I'm lookin at you, Chuy's). Red and green salsa were placed in a metal container and given to EACH guest upon sitting (yas. I don't share salsa). The salsa had a good bite and was deliciously authentic. My plus 1 and I opted to go straight for entrees due to time constraint. We ordered the tradicionale street tacos & the duck carnitas enchiladas. I did ask for flour tortillas instead of corn, so I was a tad disappointed when they arrived, because Vincente had been so attentive, but I let it slide. The street tacos were juicy, and the side green tomatillo salsa is served in a shot glass. It also came with the standard beans and rice. The tortillas are tiny, but I guess that's the point of street tacos. The duck carnitas enchiladas were drenched in a fragrant mole sauce. The duck was tender and flavorful, but the mole sauce had a very interesting herbal note and very strong flavors. I had a bite, and it was plenty for me. A very cute place for date night. A couple beers (for him) and two entrees came out to $50 plus tip. I wish I could have tried one of everything! We went in sun 2/27 for brunch. Chris Castillo at the bar took amazing care of us with such a positive demeanor. He was fabulous. We told Ron the manager how great Chris was and that we had been to a neighboring place where there was negative energy and an empty unmanned bar and we were thrilled with the Mi Dia experience and we will be back!! Today was our first time visit to Midia. We are vegetarian and website suggest we will find many vegetarian options. We went there for dinner and server who were attending us he said there is oonly 2 options in menu that he can mAke otherwise everything is non vegetarian . He didn't even check with chef or anyone that can they make anything. And he said if you looking for cheese quesadilla for kids that to is not vegetarian. Really disappointed with the attitude we just left the restaurant without ordering any food. Heard many nice reviews from friends and they said you guys customize dishes for vegetarian. Wow, I'm impressed (and I'm not one to be easily impressed). Hubs and I went here for dinner last Thursday. It was packed and pretty loud, but we were seated after just a short wait. Service was great - and I was not expecting good service since they are so new. The waiter was attentive, patient, and had several great recommendations. Good was outstanding. They serve two different salsas in the same bowl (very artistic) and each person gets their own. Since I'm an only child, I love when restaurants do this :) I ordered the Steak and Relleno - it was to die for!!! Best Mexican meal ever? Quite possible. The steak was tender, juicy, and very flavorful - absolutely perfect! And it was topped with a Relleno chile stuffed with gooey cheese and dressed in sauce. Simply amazing. My husband and I both got cocktails - I ordered the pomegranate martini and it was perfect - not too sweet but tasted terrific and strong enough to put you in a good mood without putting you under the table. If I had had any room at all I would have tried a flan - just guess I'll have to go again. Oh well... Will be back soon! Yummiest meal I've had in a while! read more

My daughters and I were looking for a new place to try and I'm so glad we found this place! It's located in a convenient location right off the Tollway. The interior had a very upscale feel but still family friendly. Definitely get the table side guacamole it's better than anywhere I've tried before and includes bacon and fresh tomatoes...Yummm! They have a very average kids menu but my youngest seemed to enjoy the nachos. Their taco salad was great and street tacos even better! I personally prefer their salsa over the chunkier Tex-mex salsas most restaurants have, beware though it's so good and spicy! read more

Excelente!!! Complimentary valet parking, clean room and tables. Good background Latin music. The Spinach and cheese quesadilla was fantastic. Our very cute server was spot on, Brittany. The steak street tacos were very light and flavorful. The chips were very crispy and the sauce was amazing too. My wife Margarita Sangria swirl was very strong. I've been to Mi Dia From Scratch numerous times since 2018. Generally we find the food and service to be good. Last evening's visit found my wife becoming very ill about 2 hours after eating there. She had shrimp tacos. She ate 2 of the 4 provided tacos. Today, I chose to eat the other two that had been refrigerated and thoroughly reheated. I too became very ill within 20 minutes of eating them. I will return to Mi Dia From Scratch - but clearly the shrimp we were served had gone bad. read more

I've been to Mi Dia more times than I can count. In my opinion, it's the best Mexican food in Plano. Everything on the menu is SO delicious! Some of my favorites include the guacamole (they make this fresh table side), the queso, tortilla soup, mi dia salad (the dressing is light and fresh), and any of the tacos. Sopapillas are great for dessert. The service is always great and professional. They never disappoint. They do accept reservations, so I recommend making one of if you're during a peak time (weekend nights). They have lots of parking in front of restaurant in the parking lot, but they also offer valet. read more

I want to rate them higher but I can't. We used to frequent this place and still enjoy it here and there. 3 weeks ago my 4yr old had raw chicken in his quesadillas. He noticed it and told us. Luckily we believe he caught it before eating it. My husband called and talked to the manager David. He was nice and said to call back when we are ready to replace the meal. We live 25 minutes away so it's not the most convenient place. Today my husband calls and David answered the phone and remembered. Great! It was just 2 kids meals and a queso. We get home and they filled 2 different size cups with beans. Not queso. That's the only thing my husband and I eat from there. Extremely disappointing. We gave them a chance to correct the raw chicken and now this. That will be the last time we eat at mi dia. read more

My comments on Mi Dia are based on 4 visits to the restaurant. First, whoever designed the indoor seating of this place should be sued, fired and forced to sit in one of these booths for eternity. What in the world were they thinking? I have dined in thousands of restaurants in my life and never experienced seating like this. If you are sitting across from someone, unless you sit motionless with your feet in place near you, you are likely to kick the person across from you throughout the entire meal. There is absolutely no room to move. If you are 4 to a booth, you will not only be kicked by the person across from you, but also by the person next to you. How annoying throughout an entire meal. For anyone who has been here, you know what I am talking about. On one visit, there was a hair in the salsa (which is maybe the best thing they serve). I showed it to the server. He shrugged his shoulders. OK, I guess this happens but as a nice gesture, maybe a comped drink instead of a confused look? Tamales - I am certain I can get better from any food truck in Collin county; really low end and served at room temperature. We did have great service on 3 of 4 visits and I really enjoyed my selections of the banana wrapped salmon with a side of street corn - really really good. Margaritas are great too. Consistently good service and food is a standard few restaurants can actually achieve. It's not here but I think it could be. But that indoor seating configuration is a deal breaker for us; no one deserves to be kicked throughout an entire meal. We used to love this restaurant, we came here over and over again for the Sea Bass. It had some type of orange based sauce, but we would always order it on the side. The fish by itself was amazing. Somewhere along the way they changed the recipe to a Veracruz style which by itself isn't bad, but they now add this giant glob of spinach on top, and instead of pan seared, it's more like pan fried, and smothered in Veracruz sauce. You can't even taste the fish anymore. This type of fish is something that can be served very simply, it's almost a delicacy. It doesn't need to be covered in sauces, rice, etc. There have been other weird inconsistencies as well. For example, one time the tortilla soup had a giant handful of tortilla chips on the top of it, I mean like outrageously amount of tortilla chips, like we had to grab the whole thing with our hands and put it on a spare plate. It hasn't happened again so maybe a one off. Tonight, we ordered the tortilla soup again but asked for no tortilla chips to be added at all. It came out with tortilla chips. This may be the fault of our waiter though, which is our last comment. I won't call out by name, but I think it's important for management to know when there are problems with staffing. His energy was way off. Not welcoming, unhappy, not attentive. When he came to our table, he did not announce or introduce himself, we thought he was bar help getting us water. Experience did not improve. We said several times during dinner, this guy is horrible. There are many things to like about this restaurant, I'm leaving this review less to complain, than a channel to let management know about some improvements that would keep us coming back. I really want to give my last two experiences here a 1 to 2 star rating, but I think there are still a lot of things to like about this restaurant if they can just improve on a couple things. read more

I went to try this place for happy hour, and when I first entered and asked for a table they asked if I had a reservation. I said no and said there is a group of us who want to try out happy hour...the staff asked how long we would be and if we were seated at a particular table would we be leaving at a certain time. I was not impressed by this, but got seated. The waiter was very nice and chips and salsa were ok.
