Should have wrote this review a long time ago. I'm a long time customer and this place is incredible. I've had anywhere from 10-15 different items over the year and half I've lived in this area and almost everything is incredible. I order on Uber Eats and their own employees deliver which helps keep fees down and ensures quality control. Always fast (generally 25-30 mins) and always quality. I grew up in Texas so I was exposed to some tremendous Mexican food and there's other great spots in this area but Mexico Diner is in a class of their own as far as this area goes. Some items I'd recommend- enchiladas suizas, sopes, quesadillas (order corn tortillas - I'm normally a flour guy but these are special) and then the nachos and tortas are also great options. I've come here a couple of times already and have never been disappointed. My go to meal is the Platillo Mexicano. Comes with a plate of rice and beans and assorted meats with grilled cheese. They also give you tortillas and sauces to compliment your meal. Very affordable meal and very filling as well. Most times I have leftovers to take home to eat later on. Last time I was here I opted for the tacos with guacamole and that was delicious as well. The meat was juicy and not dry at all and portion size was good. Will come again. P.S. I live a couple blocks away from Mexican Diner and reviews are good, so last night I walked over to order takeout. Fish tacos, chips w guacamole and salsa, beans and rice. Everything was delicious and perfectly packaged. I stood outside to wait for my order, because it was busy inside the restaurant and I would have been in the way. Their delivery guys were busy, hence the secure packaging. The cops came in for takeout too - always a good sign. The fish tacos were wonderful. 3 tacos, filled with nice sized pieces of fish, chopped onions, greens, and strips of avocado. The meal was served with little containers of green and red sauce. The red was too "hot" for me, but will be enjoyed by others. I loved the green sauce! The tacos were delicious and very satisfying. I was very happy to discover the chips are freshly made! The guacamole was superb! A good strong garlic favor is present in every bite, I like that. Their guacamole is thick, always my preference. The salsa also is a perfect consistency, but there is a sweetness to it, that was unexpected. I am sure folks would probably enjoy this, but I prefer this lovely sauce without a hint of sweetness. Cute little neighborhood hole in the wall. Great food is definitely hard to find in Kensington and I'm glad I took a chance on this place. I've walked by this place a countless amount of times and always wondered if it was any good and decided to take a chance. I'm glad that I did. My boyfriend ordered the marinated pork meal and he was very surprised at the portion size. The food was nicely seasoned, fresh ingredients, etc. I ordered the fish tacos after craving decent tacos for weeks. The fish tacos are amazing and the portions are great, especially for the pricing. This review is so long overdue. A couple of years ago I was sat on my couch looking for a place to eat. Obviously, I turned to Yelp. I wanted to try something new, and Mexico Diner was just that. They were right up top! Even better, they were literally a block from my apartment down a side street I never walked down, because I'm a. creature of habit and all that. My girlfriend and I went once, thinking it'd be a letdown. We were wrong. This is seriously some of the best Mexican food in Brooklyn. Authentic, delicious, and filling. It's even pretty cheap, which is an obvious plus! I've since moved from Ditmas Park, but still find myself trying to bribe my girlfriend into going. With food as delicious as this, the bribes don't take much. We keep coming back, we keep loving it. And honestly, if you're looking for a great place to eat this is it. But it was defunct as Mexico Diner revealed when we came to pick up our dinner --the order for which they said they never got. The neighborhood needed a top-notch Mexican restaurant and with Mexico Diner we've got just that! Everything I've ever ordered from here was fresh and homemade, brought to me quickly by a very friendly delivery guy. I love the chicken fajita because it's flavorful and lean. The chili relleno is absolutely delicious. They always give you a ton of hot, fresh corn tortillas. If you run out there's something seriously wrong with you. The rice and beans are highly addicting and so is their green salsa. That stuff makes the food taste even better and I don't know how that is even possible! And did I mention that prices are very reasonable? This restaurant took a very long time to open. Construction seemed to move at the pace of a tired snail creeping against traffic on an airport people mover. I thought for sure it would be a disaster or a front for the mob but things turned out much better then I had expected. It's tough to find new restaurants that hit it spot on the first try. I waited patiently for weeks as they put together the finishing touches, and stopped in for breakfast this past Saturday. Oh man, it was delicious. I had the breakfast burrito (with chorizo) and my partner went with the Huevos Rancheros. Everything was so fresh and packed with flavor. If you're wondering whether to get the red sauce, do it. If I could I'd buy a bottle I would it was that good. We ended our meal with the flan which was perfect with the last few sips of my champurrado. To top it off the service was top notch. The salsa roja was excellent- rich and smokey, and the salsa verde ( my Wife's choice) was tangy and spicy- as it should be. Chips remained crisp and made a great followup meal with para llevar! Not only was the delivery speedy and super well packed (I love places that take the time to pack stuff up thoughtfully), but the food was surprisingly great! I was feeling a little under the weather and their caldo de pollo made me feel so warm and fuzzy--the broth was perfection and the portion filled me up. We ordered the fish burrito (pretty good but the fish was kind of fishy - good thing I had lemon at home to squeeze over it), the enchilada verde (must get with Al pastor - the sweetness if the pineapple was so good with the heat of the green sauce), fried plantains (the toddler ate this all up and I'm happy it wasn't really greasy), and pambazo (bread was spongy and airy but the filling felt like it wasn't enough to stand up to this thick airy bread). Oooh, scary. Crossing Coney Island Avenue to dine at an eatery beyond Courtelyou Road's booming restaurant row. Seriously. Am convinced that Coney Island Avenue represents a psychological barrier, preventing locals from exploring dining options beyond the likes of Mimi's Hummus, The Castello Plan, Purple Yam and such. And all I can say is you're missing out on sweet, little spots like this: We tried several dishes, though for some reason, only the kid had tacos, so can't really vouch for those. But the Guac was everything you'd want this ubiquitous avocado dip to be; fresh, vibrant, zesty, and chunky in an appealing, rustic sort of way. Another favorite was the Huarache, topped with Pork Al Pastor, which we chose from a selection of meats. Apparently named for its resemblance to a sandal, it arrived looking like an oblong-shaped pizza, albeit with a masa crust. Delicious, though it didn't eclipse my favorite Huarache tacos from the Country Boys at the Red Hook Ball Fields. But, I digress... Tostadas were good, but challenging to eat. I'd recommend topping 'em with Chicken Tinga v. the slightly too chewy Cecina, aka Salted Beef. We also got a couple Sopes, topped simply with refried beans. Aside from their round shape, these were way too similar to the Huarache, so next time, I'd only get one or the other. I believe this is a family-run spot, which always ups the appeal for me, along with warm and welcoming service, which we also enjoyed. Fwiw, there are two TV's, with I suppose plenty of sports-watching potential. But if you're the sort who's into guzzling cervezas while you watch Ronaldo do his thing, you're SOL. Alas, at least on our visit, no beer, Margaritas, or other alcoholic drinks were on offer. A Word About Ambiance: The space is indeed diner-like and perfectly pleasant. Personally, I need (yes, need) a more festive vibe, not to mention a drink or two on Friday and Saturday nights, but for a low key dinner any other night of the week, this is going on my rotation. There were several items on the expansive menu, like Tamales, Tortas, and Fajitas, to name just a few, that I'd like to return and try. At one point during our meal, I heard myself saying to hubby, "If this place were on the other side of Courtelyou, it would be packed." Word. You can taste the care that goes into each and every bite. So go ahead and venture out of your usual Courtelyou comfort zone. There's a whole delicious world beyond The Farm on Adderley out there. ps Returned and tried the Chicken Enchiladas with Red Guajillo Chile Sauce (Green or Mole are also options). Loved this! Great tacos in Brooklyn!! The times I've gone it's early afternoon so there's never more than two or three other diners. The staff is always polite and accommodating. I've only eaten the tacos but whether it's take out or dine in, they're always fresh, packed with toppings and tasty.
