    Chocolate croissant $5.75

I came to Metropol recently for a particular item - their Birdseed Multigrain bread. I haven't actually had this before, but was visiting a friend later that day who loves it (and lives outside of Eugene) so, I wanted to bring her a loaf. Unfortunately, they didn't have any out that morning. I was surprised since I was there only about an hour after they opened. One of the workers informed me that they were training a new baker, and believe they just ran out of time to make it that day. Bummer! However, the tides turned quickly when the other person working went back to check their day old stock and with some luck, there was one loaf left. "I'll take it!" Along with that, I purchased a whole wheat sourdough loaf and chocolate croissant. The croissant was gobbled up right away. Flaky, light, buttery, not greasy at all and a healthy amount of chocolate in there. Yum! We've also been joining the sourdough as toast in the morning for the past few days. Metropol's location is on the smaller side, maybe 5 or so tables, some along a large long wall bench one side of the space. No outside seating as it's part of a strip mall. The walls feature an eclectic collection of artwork with no real theme (maybe just what the owner likes), and I couldn't tell if the artwork was for sale or not like some cafes. The interior felt in need of a good deep cleaning in the customer space, at least. A lot of crumbs, etc. on the floor/tables left behind by patrons. I noticed a "Help wanted" sign still up in the door as we exited so maybe this has fallen behind on being short staff. Metropol is out of the way for me, so I likely won't be back soon. However, I would recommend it to anyone looking to pick up quality breads and baked goods.

Finally got here after having bookmarked todd plane for 3 years and dang- I've been missing out. I've been underwhelmed by local fave Sweet Life & this is the bakery for me: tender fresh interesting well done cake! We had coffee cake, September 10 (or some such day, bakers lucky kids birthday) cake, and a cookie with 3 americanos & all were smashing. And across from tsunami Next door to Viking braggart It's a trifecta of fun!

This was my first time, trying out the bakery, and I like it. I tried out a ham & cheese croissant, and it was delicious! I had just got a haircut ‍, and I was hungry. I also tried out their cream puffs, and they are huge! The chocolate is bitter and the cream is sweet! Very messy-not advised for a first date or work munching! Good service! Nice ambiance, but I was ordering to go, since I was waiting for a Lyft driver.

I came to Metropol on a Monday morning around opening and there were already people waiting outside which I took as a good sign! I've seen their pastries being sold at local coffee shops in the area so wanted to give them a try. They have a good amount of pastry and bread options as well as cakes and other desserts. The dessert case was a bit foggy/had some condensation on it so I couldn't see much, but a few cakes looked really nice. They also had food items like breakfast sandwiches and a lunch sandwich menu. I think a lot of people come here for their fresh baked bread loaves which I'm sure are great. I ended up getting a coffee and lemon raspberry muffin. The coffee was solid! They only offered 12, 16, and 20 oz sizes. The muffin was delicious. Strong lemon and raspberry flavor. Very sweet. I loved the glaze on top. Perfectly moist too. I took everything to go since it was a bit dark and musty in there. I don't think it's the type of place to sit down and do work. Metropol probably wont make my weekly coffee rotation but I would definitely come back for the muffin if I find myself in the mood!! Also the employee who took my order was extremely friendly and kind :)

The September 7th cake is off the charts! But charging for to-go boxes is ridiculous.

Best seeded baguette ever! I live in Seattle and can't find anything like this. I make sure to pick one up every time I'm in Eugene.

My family rolled in three sandwiches deep fried chicken, hamburger, pulled pork, like we were assembling the Avengers of handheld meat. Every single one showed up and dunked on the others. There was no loser. There was only us, sitting in stunned silence, chewing like we'd just witnessed a religious event. Then the fries arrived with curry dipping sauce and honestly? Rude. Absolutely rude of them to be that good. The cucumber salad was there to make us feel like responsible adults for approximately four bites before we went back to the sandwiches. My daughter has apparently been sneaking off to this place her ENTIRE time at school here and said NOTHING. Not one word. Total gatekeeping. I found out about Zandos the way you find out your kid has a secret second family. Also ... whatever business arrangement Zandos has going with Crow and Cart is an actual game changer. Instead, it tasted greasy in every bite. The complimentary specialty sauce also wasn't my favorite. Second, I tried the Cheeseburger (no pickles). I was excited for this one, but it ended up being way too salty. The Porker was definitely the standout. Every bite was flavorful, and the sauce was really good. I'd recommend this one. They also have a beer garden next to the food truck where you can enjoy food and drinks. The atmosphere was clean and nice.

They opened a second location in what is now the ARBY'S on West 11th. Their bread was fresh and soft and withstood the topping piled onto their sandwiches. It was heaven and a sandwich was good to get you through two meals. Then they disappeared. Today my wife brought me home a sandwich from Subshop and it hit all the right notes! Fresh baked bread with a great flavor and structure that held together. I had the turkey sandwich and added avocado and bacon. They were very generous with both. Every bite had all of the ingredients and flavors and was perfectly balanced. While this was my first experience with Subshop it won't be my last!

That's what I was going to order so I left. I recently gave them another shot and what a regret that was. Came in and the owners and their entire family were there ripping bags of chips, using foul language, talking about personal subjects not appropriate for a restaurant, etc. I felt like I was in their living room rather than a restaurant. Also, one of them kept on going in and out of the front door every 1-2 minutes wearing a hoody in a way that made me nervous like I need to keep a watchful eye. He was constantly engaging with all the "off" street people and even invited a homeless person inside to go through the garbage to collect recycling. All the while the owners are all there, chilling with their family, and not really caring about cultivating a comfortable environment for their dine in customers, I had enough. To add insult to injury, they got our order wrong. I got up, left, and will NEVER come back again. The worst dining experience of my life
