I ordered $70 worth of food from this Metro Diner this morning and less than half of it was edible. I ordered two Chicken and Waffles Meals and the chicken was cold, hard, oh so greasy. I can deal with cold chicken, but the chicken tastes like it was fried in very old grease! We all felt nauseous after eating the little that we did. I had to throw away the Red Velvet Waffles as they were burnt-and for reasons I can't understand they arrived already topped with dressing poured on them. So yeah they went straight in the trash. What was salvageable was the bacon and kid's pancake meal. This was extremely disappointing because I know for a fact that if I had dined in they would have never served something like this to me and my family. read more

Went here for their soft opening and it was AMAZING!! All of our food was perfectly prepared!!! The chicken and waffles was half of a chicken fired to perfection and juicy! The Holy Davoli is HUGE! Loved this place! My husband and I recently checked it out for breakfast. We loved that they had two options for coffee. One was plain and one had cinnamon and nutmeg brewed into it. I have never been offered two coffee options at a diner! We ordered eggs Benedict and a layered breakfast skillet. We both loved our food, huge portions! We had a very attentive waitress who was so pleasant throughout our whole meal. The only cons I found were the tables. I expect to sit at a booth at a diner. Obviously this place isn't huge so they can accommodate many more customers by only having a few booths and mostly tables. Also, the napkins were the cheapest one-ply napkins I have ever used! This is a new diner establishment in riverfront area of Suffolk. We visited metro diner on a Sunday around 5 pm. 4 of us went in and was greeted then seated right away. The greeting staffs were great. The waitress came by to take our drinks. The menu is big! I was a little disappointed that they didn't have country fried steak because that is my go to whenever I am at a breakfast joint but maybe diners are different? I'm not sure of the difference. Someone tell me please. Nonetheless there were other options on the menu which read delish but I ended up ordering a meatloaf dinner. Fried chicken dinner and fish &a chips were ordered too. The meatloaf are very artificial looking but delicious. I enjoyed the roasted squash and mashed potatoes which came as sides. The biscuit was okay. It has very non-flaky consistency. The portions are huge though! The price is fairly good also. I would definitely visit again and maybe order the pot roast dinner. read more

We ordered two protein breakfasts and a corned beef hash breakfast. In the words of my daughter, "9/10 on the grits, 8/10 on the sweet tea and real corned beef in the hash. Poached eggs are poached eggs." Protein breakfasts were sizable - 4 scrambled eggs, 3 turkey sausage links, and slices of Canadian bacon. Why does this place have to be so far?? We came from VB to come here. Yes, we drove 30 minutes to eat at this place. I've been to Metro Diner before in FL and GA so I was very excited that they were opening in VA. The restaurant itself isn't as big as most of them are, which became a pretty major problem due to everyone having to squeeze through tiny places. The service was as deliteful as you'd expect any other diner. I personally came here for the chicken and waffles and they did not disappoint! Crispy, juicy chicken and light, delicious waffles! Had such a great experience we went two days in a row. Highlights: waffles, grits (these were OUTSTANDING), service. We ordered the chicken & waffles and the waffle breakfast which came with eggs, meat and grits. No complaints! On my first visit I ordered the chicken biscuit. Saturday night was my first time going to Metro Diner, they were pretty busy so we had a ten minute wait but I always feel like that's a good sign. I ordered the chicken and waffles and they were amazing. The chicken was seasoned so well and was really juicy, which I find is not always the case with some restaurants. Our table also ordered the loaded chips and they were really good too, the BBQ and queso wa unique pairing but we were not disappointed. The service was also really good! My wife and I stopped in for lunch at one of our favorite diners last week and were very disappointed. The diner was a quarter of capacity. The waitress held us at the front door while they prepared our booth despite 3 other booths being empty. When we were lead to our booth we found the seats still wet, the table still wet and jam still smeared on the table. At least the food was good, except for the english muffins which was so hard we declined to eat them for fear of creating work for our dentist. The wait staff at the Metro Diner used to be the best, but the current help are the pitts. My husband had the biscuits and gravy breakfast which consisted of 4 biscuit halves, a huge pile of scrambled eggs and hash browns. The sausage gravy was oddly sweet, as if made with maple sausage. I had a simple two egg breakfast. We finished with the peach cobbler that our waitress sold us on. It was huge and way more than 2 people could eat. The service was, in our opinion, overly attentive.
