Love this find, we were just headed thru on our way to vacation. The waitress was attentive and so nice. I ordered the 1/2 croissant French toast with bacon. The waitress recommended it. My husband got the three egg breakfast. Portions are huge here. My husbands eggs were not great. Two of them were well done one over medium, he prefers over medium. ( we did not send them back, it's eggs not the end of the world) The bacon was great so was the link turkey sausage nice spice. If we are ever back thru here we will give it another try. read more

I've been to Metro Diner several times with my family and I honestly love it. Service is usually prompt, the waiters are attentive and the food is great. You get huge portions (especially when considering the prices) for your meals so I would suggest heading there with a good appetite. You can have the options of sitting outside which is a nice touch (I personally like to be inside, especially during summer months in GA. The only draw backs is that it can really get crowded inside and if your sitting in one of the middle tables it gets a little annoying in my opinion. But honestly that's just a minor inconvenience when considering the quality of the food. I would gladly recommend this place to any one. read more

The food is excellent and the service was mostly southern style which is something that I'm not used to. I'm from the North Carolina but they are little bit more friendlier and the price is a little steep but the food was worth it. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Pooler. The service is always fast and friendly, and the food is delicious. Also, the portions are HUGE! Very good food and service. Our party of 7 had an assortment of breakfast and dinner food. None were disappointed. Food came fast and hot. While tasty, the pot pie needed seasoning. The fried chicken was about a minute over cooked. These are the only negative criticisms we had. All egg dishes were excellent. Mimosa was perfect. Good 80s music playing. I have been to Metro Diner on several occasions and can say confidently this place is a safe bet. The staff is friendly, and service is quick. Huge portions of southern diner fare for a reasonable price. Advice: be hungry! (Seriously.) This particular time, we were waited on by Sarah who did a great job at making sure we were taken care of and informing us about the menu. The manager also came over to make sure we were doing well. My boyfriend got the chicken and waffles. These come with four pieces of chicken, a huge belgian waffle, strawberry butter, powdered sugar, and their sweet and spicy sauce. Everything balances really nicely. He loved it. I had the Greek omelette with home fries and toast. Good. Their home fries are delicious and you can get them with any toppings you want. Our waitress recommended getting them with "the works". So maybe next time. They try to make everything as customizable as possible, so if you want a side of hollandaise sauce for your omelette, just ask. Any toppings you want on fries, hasbrowns, etc - just ask. Also, if you buy any of their merchandise (t-shirts, baseball caps, coffee mugs) and come back in wearing it, they will take 10% off of your meal. Overall, great experience and will keep coming back. This is by far my favorite diner. I used to stop at Metro Diner every time I visited Jacksonville. Now it's close to home in Pooler and I couldn't be happier. Great addition to the area. My family and I ate there yesterday for brunch. The wait was not too bad. There was some confusion with our order but the manager (Jordan) did a great job of correcting things. I doubt that I will eat here again because the food was not great at all, which shocked me because it is an establishment right outside the outlet and has ton of traffic. I ordered the chicken parmesan and it had absolutely no flavor at all and the spaghetti was watered down. I would really give them no stars but im required to atleast put one. read more

The wait staff is split. Half are outstanding and overworked the other half are lazy and absent minded. The manager at this location during the day shift needs retraining or to be replaced. This location is a rudderless ship. Great cooks and half of the wait staff keep it going. The portions of food that is served are extremely large in size. It is very rare that I can finish everything that they serve. The quality and the taste are first rate. We happened to stumble across this spot as we were window shopping the day before. The reviews were good and we took a chance. I'm glad we did. It was pretty good, I wish it was stuffed with berries and cream cheese not bananas as I feel the bananas just didn't fit with it, but it was still pretty good. Greek omelet seemed to be made with the same "egg product" they use in chains like the Waffle House or IHOP that makes that kind of spongy texture, which is then called "fluffy". (See below for the restaurant's explanation of the process. Real eggs they say but the process but still makes them spongy. I don't care for it at all.) The texture is unpleasant and it always has a metallic taste to it. (My previous speculation was that in "the product" the egg is thinned out with water and a stabilizer/emulsifier to hold the air bubbles with the result is substantially more volume per egg. The spongy texture is a result of a genuine sponge structure trapping air instead of the proteins of the egg entangling. I think this is not so far off based on the restaurants explanation of webbing but they claim nothing is added to the egg itself. Also, they are overcooking their eggs.) Fish and chips were made with a too soft, unnamed "white fish". Swai is usually fairly firm so maybe tilapia? Fried chicken biscuit made me think they could make a good chicken sandwich potentially and maybe the fried chicken is good. That is speculation however based on a piece of chicken on a plain biscuit. Server was nice if robotic and other staff were friendly. Speed of service was acceptable. read more

Food is generally good but a bit overpriced for what it is. When I recently moved to Pooler, Georgia, I found out that there was a Metro diner nearby. I really wanted good fried chicken, so I called in a take-out order and went to pick it up. Needless to say, when you have a hankering for good fried chicken, you can't wait to stick your fork in it. When I got home, about five minutes away, I started with the drumstick, then the thigh, then the wing... Saving my favorite for last. the chicken wasn't pulling apart the way I had hoped, and when I started seeing pink meat, I realized why. The breast meat wasn't done all the way through. The food is good and served relatively quickly for the number of people in the restaurant. The service is very good. One of the guys ordered a chicken salad and to us that means a salad with grilled chicken but this was the chicken/mayo stuff. They brought out a replacement salad with grilled chicken pretty quickly. He also liked the Manhattan style chowder. I had the Big Ben pork sandwich that was very large and tasty and the other guy in our group had the pastrami sandwich which he liked. Food prices are average. It took us a while to return to Metro Diner Pooler due to COVID and a previous visit prior to that, however, I am so glad we went back. Our food was perfect. The cook deserves all the credit. My husband got the Fish and Chips, which was cooked perfectly and tasted even better and I got the Philly Cheesesteak, which by the way is topped with Provel cheese, something St. Louisans know a lot about, and a Garden Salad which did not disappoint. We are going back to try the Turkey Plate this week. The only reason I am giving them 4 stars is because the waitress actually got my order wrong, twice. I originally ordered fries and she came back to tell me I could get a salad or soup, so I said salad thinking I was still getting fries. Well, no fries and I also originally said Caeser Salad but got the Garden Salad served, so I just ate it. Since it was all so good, I didn't complain to the waitress. Metro Diner is a good place to eat, not amazing but good. Service- very good and the staff is very polite. The servers use Ipads to take your order and you pay using the same Ipad. Food- I had the Crab Cakes Benedict and I would give it a 6 out of 10. Good- the crab was real lump crap no imitations and the eggs were perfectly poached. Bad- The english muffin was soggy not well toasted. This was a big let down because the crunchy english muffin needs to offset the softness of the egg and crab. The hollandaise sauce was completely void of the tartness from lemons. The pouched eggs did not have the hint of vinegar which I have come to expect from them. There was no paprika on the dish and when I asked the server if I could get some from the cook she told me that the restaurant didn't have any. What kind of place that is featured on the food network does not have such a common spice? Final thoughts- Not a bad eggs Benedict but the bad outweighed the good and for around $14 a plate I would expect perfection. read more
