Unfortunately this Metro Dinner isn't as good as others I've been to. They have great servers and get you seated quickly but that's where the positives end. We ordered 3 Bissel Breakfasts and 1 of the three Egg Breakfasts. The three egg cake with cold eggs like cold to the point the cheese wouldn't melt. So we sent it back for a new set which came back at proper temp but just had no cheese at all. All of the hash browns on the plates were hash blacks, just incredibly overcooked. We didn't send that back because we felt bad already having to send the eggs back, so we just left them on the plate. Finally the pancakes tasted like flour. Imagine putting flour into your mouth with butter and that's the flavor. The good part was all the meats were cooked perfectly, crisp bacon hot sausage, just excellent. We were seated after a short wait as the diner was busy. I order the Mr. John's Sr. breakfast sandwich. Which was a two eggs over medium, with bacon, cheese, tomato, mayo on whole grain bread. Yummy! My wife tried the Greek omelet which had, feta cheese, tomato, spinach and kalamata olives. The olives made the difference here with a well prepared omelette that came with nice crispy hash browns. We were happy with our change of pace and look forward to coming back and trying some of the other menu items. Food - 4 A cut above the standard breakfast fare, with good flavor! Service 4 Attentive with some extras like a small bowl of lemons to go with my large tea consumption habit... We ended up at Metro Diner on Sunday, because my family and I were headed out to check out a new trail. Well, the Universe had other plans because on the drive out, it started pouring rain. So we headed to Pooler to run errands, but first lunch! Wow, even in pouring rain, MD was packed! There was a line out the door and some people waited outside under the awning. That was the first good sign, I thought to myself. This place must be good. Parking - It is located in Tanger Outlets in Pooler, on the corner across from H & M. Plenty of parking in Center lot. Service - We had a great waiter! I think his name was Tyri? So polite and so helpful. I asked for recommendations and he also mentioned that some of the dishes could be made into half portions, which is not indicated on the menu. I appreciated the heads up as it is NOT indicated on the menu. That's great service, when you inform customers of things beforehand, especially when they are not marked on the menu. I really appreciate that, because restaurant portions are generally too big to begin with. Thanks to his guidance, that half portion was more than enough! He came out to check on us often and made sure we were well taken care of. Sometimes I am a little hesitant to sit outside in fear of neglect (out of sight, out of mind), but that was not the case there. What we ate - The menu has a decent selection. Standard breakfast and lunch items sprinkled with their own personality. Kids' Waffle - The kids read waffles on the menu and the decision was made! The kids portion is basically half a waffle, sprinkled with powdered sugar. The plate looked a little empty though. I would have liked to see a side of fruit or something for the kids plate. My kids could have probably had a whole waffle by themselves. They also ordered a chocolate milk which needs its own mention because MD doesn't rub pennies here. It's not regular milk mixed with powder or syrup or even the watery kind they serve with most kids meals. It is the creamy, good kind. Kinda like the Promised Land brand? I'm kinda serious about my chocolate milk. Can you tell? LOL. The one they serve at MD is top notch! Daily Special - Hubby had one of their specials on the board. It was a biscuit topped with Fried Chicken, poached eggs, bacon, green onions with sauce with a side of hash browns. I loved their style of hash browns. Not a patty. They grate the potatoes and fry it up, so it has a slight crispy exterior, folded like an omelette (refer to pic). It was great! Chicken and Waffles - Tyri had recommended the Chicken and Waffles. Chicken and waffles is a staple in the South, so I decided why not? The Fried Chicken was great and the waffles were nice and crispy on the outside and airy on the inside. That strawberry butter was yum! I didn't even need syrup. Vibe - It's a diner. I would say it's a mid-range sized establishment. We were seated in the outdoor area, which is entirely covered from top to bottom, which came in very handy for that rainy day. Place is bustling though. People everywhere: inside, outside and lined up all around. The reception/host(ess) area is pretty tight. There are 2 benches on either side to wait for your table. If you're not sitting on either bench, you feel like you are in the way while waiting. I felt like people were on top of each other in that area. We didn't wait too long for a table, thank goodness. I visited Savannah a few weeks ago and decided to dine at this location because it was close to my hotel. This location can get pretty crowded, we had a small 15min wait, when we were seated our server greeted us immediately. The server was very helpful, I wanted the waffle & chicken but I was afraid it would be too much food so the server suggested I order the half portion which is half the waffle and two pieces of chicken (dark or white). The food was really good, I would definitely dine here again if I'm in the area. This restaurant is at the outlet mall so there is free parking. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

I am incredibly impressed that this place just opened a few months ago (if that) and already has 50+ reviews- most of them positive! We were looking for a breakfast place and decided we wanted to try something new. They also have some unique things on their menu, such as chicken and waffles, a crazy french toast (Yo Hala), and Mexican eggs (Huevos Rancheros). Those are the only things that stood out to me and I am not fond enough of fried chicken to try it with waffles, at least this trip. The Yo Hala on the Square French Toast was huge enough to split with another person; same goes for the Huevos Rancheros. I liked the fried jalapeños on the Huevos Rancheros- usually I just see them raw or pickled. Everything, except the hashbrowns, seemed to be reinvented and new. I would love to see how their Western Omelette was. You can sit wherever you want and at the end you pay on a tablet if you use your card. The manager, Jordan, was walking around when we went and asking people how their meals were. We enjoyed ourselves. The menu isn't unique enough, beyond those few items, to pull us back but the quality of the food is. We will definitely be back. Every time the wife and I find ourselves in Savannah we try to figure out how to get a meal at this restaurant into our schedule. I usually get the patty melt -- never have been disappointed with this menu item. Wife usually opts for chicken and waffles - like she did the last time we ate here 5 stars. She is stingy with the praise -- so she doesn't say that was great if it wasn't. We first found Metro in Las Vegas (it was awesome!!!!) The food here is always good when it's prepared properly. The staff here has no care for quality. Placed a to go order of biscuits and gravy and got two dry biscuits with no gravy. For a 11$ price it is unacceptable to send food out missing the bulk of the meal. Two biscuits don't add up to the 11$ and how hard is it to read a ticket and prepare the order. The staff here is a joke and there should be some form of quality control before you're sending dishes out. I would not recommend their Togo service ever. Shameful. read more

We had lunch at the Metro Diner at the Tanger Outlet Mall in Pooler, Ga. the place was busy on a Saturday afternoon. The food was decent and the service was excellent. Our server was particularly friendly and competent. I ordered the meatloaf plate. Two slices of meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and green beans. The beans were cooked, it seemed, in butter. My turkey dinner was excellent. Thanksgiving truly came early. My husband ordered the sirloin and it was over cooked, but the sides were tasty. I was very impressed with the friendliness of the staff. We were seated fairly quickly and only lost a star because we had to wait for the check, refills and a to-go tray. The food is delicious! The atmosphere is VERY noisy due to the space being a bit smaller but you can ask to be sat outside if you don't like the noise or get overwhelmed easily. The service is very quick even on busy days. Getting a table does take a little bit longer but while you wait you can go shopping around the outlets and they will send you a message when a table is ready for you. Would recommend. read more
