This was an excellent choice for breakfast. The staff was pleasant and my coffee was refilled often I ordered avocado toast and it was a huge plate of 4 pieces of grain bread and a large amount of avocado. I would definitely recommend. read more

I was here last week for lunch during a business trip. The place looks like a typical breakfast diner right across the street from the UF campus. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and stayed on top of our drinks. I went with bold city burger, lettuce wrapped, which was the perfect size for lunch, with the caveat that I practice intermittent fasting and was hungry by this point. The burger was flavorful and juicy, the bacon was perfectly cooked, the sausage and provel cheese added nicely to the flavor combination, and the garlic aioli brought it all together. The aioli was delicious but it does stay with you for awhile. I had a side of broccoli which i hit with some of the metro hot sauce and aioli and enjoyed thoroughly. All in all, great diner, good food, good portions, and good service. read more

While visiting my brother and mom in the Gainesville, FL area, I had a craving for avocado toast ( trying to go vegan) and saw on-line reviews stating that people really liked the avocado toast at Metro Diner. This is a cute diner at the end of a small shopping center. You can tell by the amount of friends at tables that this is a comfortable meeting place for seniors and families. I was promptly seated by friendly people but waited about 10 minutes before anyone came over. Coffee was ordered and then another 5 minutes before my order was taken. I do have to say a few people came in at the same time. I ordered avocado toast, no butter, and coffee. The food came out fast. The coffee was very good and the avocado toast was huge! There must be at least 3 full avocados used. 2 slices of thick, crunchy Multigrain toast with slices of tomato and a lot of avocado piled on. It was delicious! I took 1/2 home because I'm trying to lose some weight and although avocados are packed with nutritious goodness, they also are high in calories (those good omega 3 fats!). Looking forward to eating the rest for breakfast tomorrow. The rest of the menu looked amazing and the food that came out of the kitchen tempted me to break my attempt at my going without meat and butter. I will come back when in the area. read more

Metro Diner - Avocado toast! Mmmm - Diners Near Me - Gainesville, Florida

Fried chicken tasted like old and burnt oil. Was not impressed and I have enjoyed metro diner at other locations but not here

Chicken and waffles that I had heard so much about, were mediocre. You could make better yourself. The sweet and spicy sauce that I was excited about,.. the waiter came over pulled out the Louisiana hot sauce, sloshed it a few times into a bowl, then poured maple syrup into the same bowl. I was flabbergasted. I expected something I couldn't have made myself. And not for $15! On the other hand the Holy Davoli that my boyfriend ordered was DELICIOUS. And the fries were good. Both of my two stars are for the Holy Davoli. read more

I've been to the Metro Diner in Jacksonville, before I was eating gluten free, and I remember the menu being full of heavenly, dessert-ish breakfast items. Now that I am mostly gluten-free, I was worried that I would not be able to eat any deliciousness. I was wrong, yay! I ordered Eggs Benedict with gluten free bread and it did not disappoint. The hollandaise sauce was perfect, as was the canadian bacon and the grits that I substituted for the hash browns. I must take some time here to brag on our waitress Molly. She was a delight and made our visit entertaining. I promised to name my next child Molly. As I am 54 years old, I don't think that will happen but I am all about the miracles:) read more

Such good classic American food. I got the veggie omelette, hash browns, and toast. It's safe to say I will definitely be going back. read more

Metro Diner - Diners Near Me - Gainesville, Florida

I've been here a couple of times, and frankly I'm unimpressed. It's typical diner food at high end brunch prices. There is always a wait and everything has an upcharge. They put your omelette ingredients on top of the egg. You have to get it "frittata style" to get them mixed in. This costs extra money. I'd rather go a few feet to the left to Bagles Unlimited and support a local business. read more

Typical American lunch restaurant fare. Breakfast foods comprise the best of the menu. The chicken and waffles are the star. As of my last visit here, they do not offer spicy brown mustard to accompany their deli sandwiches. Not sure how one eats a pastrami sandwich with Heinz yellow mustard. I did ask my server for spicy brown mustard, but she was unsure of what it was. Since this is one of the few places in town with deli sandwiches, not having the quintessential deli sandwich condiment is a bit of a letdown. The breakfast menu, consistently good service, and the pet-friendly patio make Metro Diner a solid choice for weekend brunch. read more

Went for the first time, and was extremely satisfied! Generous portions of terrific food at a great price. Wonderful atmosphere, friendly service. Highly recommend, and most definitely will return. read more

Metro Dinner is always lit and busy, but always worth the wait. The food is always good. If you sit on the patio there's always cute dogs other customers bring along. Breakfast and lunch is amazing, I haven't had dinner there yet. Everything in the menu is amazing. read more

I came here on the recommendation to try their chicken and waffles and I was not disappointed! You get a whole waffle with their strawberry butter which was a delicious pairing. You also get half of a whole fried chicken which I almost was able to finish. The chicken was juicy and the breading was crispy and well seasoned. For the price of $15, this dish definitely worth it in terms of quantity and quality. read more

Metro Diner - Veggie omelet and cheese grits can't go wrong - Diners Near Me - Gainesville, Florida

This place is GREAT! Excellent service and a decent sized menu. They even have 3-4 different types of Eggs Benedict! I ordered a meat omelette. It was cooked perfectly (not browned at all) and was stuffed full of bacon, sausage, ham, and cheese. My mom ordered the San Francisco Benedict and she couldnt stop raving about it. Oh yeah, EXCELLENT coffee too! I only wish I lived closer (I live in NC) so I could become a regular and try everything on their menu :) read more

Scrambled eggs were good. Bacon was nice and crispy. French toast was great!! The grits... ehhh... not from scratch. Seemed like the kind you add hot water to and microwave. Service was pretty good, seemed somewhat annoyed that I also needed to work on my laptop while there. Brushed it off as it mainly being staffed by college kids. Decent breakfast when you don't want the usual chains. read more

Good food, great atmosphere. Sometimes gets super packed but staff does a great job of handling it.

This wasn't a great experience for me. I came with my family and ordered the basic American breakfast. I asked for the eggs over easy. The whites of the eggs were still clear and not cooked yet. I asked for them to be recooked after waiting a 7-10 minutes for the server to check on us after delivering the food. The overall meal was pretty subpar. I waiting to post my review after giving them a second chance. They did not disappoint based on my previous experience. This time the food was way too salty and I wasn't able to eat it. I enjoy diner food, so I'm hoping to return and have a better experience. read more

The food here is always amazing. We walked in and It was packed before the gator vs fsu game. We said we would take the first table available and were sat in less than five minutes! We got sat outside and It was nice. They had a tarp around the patio and the heaters turned on. We order a mimosa ($5) and budlight ($3) to get the tailgate started early. You can also buy champagne by the bottle. My girl ordered the bacon mushroom omelette and It was good. It came with toast and a potato side. She ordered the home fries which were red potatoes cubes up and fried. I had the breakfast pie. Subbed out the red potatoes for hash browns and got sausage on the side. It's was super cheesy and delicious. We also got cheese grits (the best around) and a side of the sausage gravy (also one of the best we have had)! My only complaint is that they don't have sriracha! The waitress, Crystal, was very nice and attentive. She made sure we had everything we needed and she was really good at her job (the place was slammed and she was very busy). We usually go to the one in St. Pete but if we were back in Gainesville we would stop at this location again. read more

Friendly staff, classic unpretentious diner feel, and a cool open view kitchen. I enjoyed the layout of the menu : several simple categories with variations on each theme therein. I got the shrimp and grits and in addition to be delicious, I enjoyed watching all the guys in the kitchen prepare it fresh. The manager and waitress were very friendly and stopped to talk to me as I was paying. They mentioned that this is a chain which was a pleasant surprise given the down home feel. read more

YUMMY FOOD. This was my second time here and it was absolutely delicious. I went with friends and we ordered off the specials menu. Definitely order from the specials menu!!! I had the pumpkin pie waffle and my friend had a chicken and waffle benedict and they were SO good. My pumpkin pie waffle was 2 crispy Belgian waffles with a pumpkin purée filling between them like a sandwich. It had a drizzle of cinnamon butter on the side and was just delicious. I had never had chicken and waffles before and metro diner really made me a believer in the combo. It doesn't sound like it should be together but it really it worth trying. My only note: my party and I waited a solid hour to be seated. (They told us 30 minutes!!!) It was about 1pm on a Sunday read more

Delicious food and huge selection. Short wait and friendly staff. A little pricy but it's worth it.

It was delicious. Large portions kept me full all day. Fast friendly service. I can't wait to go back!

Great place for brunch. Looked like we were going to have a long wait because it was Sunday at 10:30. But it really wasn't bad. We sat outside and was glad they had space heaters. It was a chilly morning for Florida. I had the crab cake Benedict. Super tasty. And the hash browns were perfectly crispy! We'll be sure to be back! read more

Yeah. What's not to like? It's easy to find if you're traveling I-75; it's a deep breakfast menu, which is what we wanted. The service is prompt if a little spotty, but the food is good and fair priced. An easy breakfast recommendation. read more

Great food, descent prices.. I would recommend this restaurant . The service was amazing as well

Comfort Food!!! ALL DAY LONG!! Forget about counting calories. Just go and gorge. Thankfully they do put the calorie content for every meal on the menu. However the calories are quite high so it's kind of a bummer. I think everything I've ordered there so far has been really good. read more
