Our server, Devon, was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. We tried a little bit of everything, including the Maria's Benedict, kids' pancakes, kids' chicken tenders, half Cobb salad, Benny Burger, and the Louisiana-style gumbo with cheesy grits. Have to update after our recent visit where we tried the regular and gluten-free pancakes. They both were so good! Definitely give the pancakes a try! We will be returning for them. My parents and I stopped in for a Tuesday morning breakfast at this spot as it has been one of the newest brunch/breakfast spots in town. Fortunately, I had read some of the reviews where people were suggesting to make a reservation online, however around 9:30am, it was pretty quiet. When we walked in, the hostess did not greet us at all. Actually - she did not even speak to us. She just grabbed the menus and sat us at a booth. Already, I was turned off by the encounter. Our waitress was new, and did not know the menu as she did struggle a bit giving us information. I wanted to try the seasonal Louisiana quiche but it was out. So I went with a menu favorite - Lobster & Brie Omelette without the cream cheese filling and the city grits without bacon as my side. My mom ordered the chicken and waffles and my dad ordered the shrimp and grits. Although the restaurant was bare - the food took a while to come out. Our server did not give us any update or stop by to check in with us. Once our food arrived, I noticed my grits did not come with all of the toppings that were listed. My server did have to bring a side of cheese to add in. The grits were ok, I definitely had to jazz them up a bit with some salt and pepper. I think I would prefer the city grits over the plain grits if they season it better. For my entree, there's a lot going on in this omelette. The lobster on top with the champagne butter sauce, tomatoes and green onions was really good. The lobster pieces are small but cooked very well and not rubbery. However, the brie cheese on this dish is very overpowering. I wasn't a huge fan of this dish and was wondering if the cream cheese filling would've been helpful. The portion was huge and I definitely had to take it home with me. Going forward, I wouldn't order this again but I would like to try their seasonal menu or pancakes as the aroma of sweet pancakes filled the restaurant during our visit. I never write bad reviews but the service was genuinely the worst I've ever had. We got to the restaurant knowing there would be a long wait since it was a Sunday after a game day. We got on the waitlist about 15 minutes before getting to the restaurant, and still waited almost 35 minutes to be sat. We ordered water and waited 20 minutes to get the water and had to ask multiple times. When the food arrived, it was just a mess of errors. We were missing guac, avocado, and a whole order of beignets. The avocados and guac did not come until after we finished eating and the guac looked like it had been sitting out for a day and the avocado could have fed maybe a toddler. And the order of beignets just never came. Honestly, the food was fine but we never figured out who our waiter was and even the hostess had to step in. I'm just finding it really hard to understand why half the restaurant's tables were open yet the service was nonexistent. I was here for 2 hours and 15 minutes and I think 10 minutes was spent eating and the rest was spent trying to hunt people down for a glass of water. read more

Everything was absolutely delicious. I had the Bourbon Street pancakes, and they were incredible. My daughter had the peach French toast, and it was just as amazing. The sausage was flavorful, the bacon was cooked perfectly, and every bite was top tier. They even added a little Kahlúa to my coffee, which made me very happy and was the perfect touch to the whole meal. Another Broken Egg Cafe never disappoints. Well we waited long enough to try this restaurant, seeing mixed reviews so we tried for an early Sunday Brunch . We checked in online and there was a 15-25 min wait time, surprisingly when we got there we were sat down right away!! Off to a Great start!! Our waitress Lilly came over right away and we asked about some menu items she gave awesome recommendations. They have some very unique omelets, and some well paired dishes. I got the Hey Lucy Omelette , and added some of the beignets, as i love them, they are little different than traditional beignets. Wife got a omelette off the summer menu a stuffed crab omelette , she said best omelette she has had! I agree as my omelette had body to it, was filling and wasn't "Airey" like some omelettes are. she added some of the Lemon Blueberry Goat Cheese Pancakes to her order. both our omelettes came with breakfast potatoes and an english muffin. Pulled up here today after finding out the original breakfast place was closed, honestly very glad it was cause this place is awesome. This is a relatively new breakfast/brunch chain restaurant on the Gainesville scene. I went with two friends on Easter for brunch. The reservation we made was helpful and prevented a lot of standing and waiting, as this place is usually pretty busy on the weekends. Their menu has a lot of tasty-sounding options, including seasonal specials. I went with the crab cake benedict, which included lump crab cakes on a split English muffin, topped with poached eggs, hollandaise sauce infused with andouille sauce, and chopped red peppers, served with a side of grits. For the price, it was a good sized portion and they don't skimp on the amount of crab. The crab itself was tender and there was plenty of hollandaise sauce with chunks of andouille, which had a smoky flavor. I would order it again for sure. Our server was polite and attentive. The atmosphere was calm, not overly-loud or with children running around. A nice spot for brunch. The menu options are great, many varieties of breakfast and lunch options. The service was decent, but the restaurant was packed with over a 30 minute wait at 11 am. The space is very friendly and bright. The soda machine does not taste good at all. The cinnamon roll French toast was delicious. It was more like flattened cinnamon rolls (it had no resemblance to French toast). The grits and breakfast potatoes were also great! The delta chicken biscuit/sandwich (I think is what it's called) was just okay. The chicken was great but the bottom of the biscuit was too soft and wet to pick up and eat like a sandwich. My boyfriend, his brother, and I were led here after a quick Google search for a breakfast place with a unique menu and a bar for a nice Sunday brunch. The food was excellent, but every other aspect of the experience was not only disappointing, but frustrating.  Upon arriving, we were told there would be a 15 minute wait. No problem there, they seemed pretty busy, and I was happy to leave my number for a text notification for when a table would be ready. Not sure why the hostess didn't suggest an outdoor table (there were quite a lot available). At least 25 minutes goes by, and a group of 8, as well as a two top, were both seated before our group of 3 even though they arrived after we did. I asked the hostess why we weren't being notified of a table yet, and she attempted to tell me the information was lost, even though I could see my name at the top of the list on her tablet.  We were shown a table shortly after that, and greeted by a friendly waitress. While we contemplated our drink order, she got us water, and then we ordered the Abe Famous pitcher of bloody marys to share. Some time goes by, and she comes back to say they're still working on the drink, so we order food. While waiting, we couldn't help notice that table after table was left unbussed. Why aren't people cleaning these tables to accommodate more guests? Why did a food runner not once, but twice, attempt to bring us someone else's order? Our food (two crab benedicts and a lobster/brie omelette) arrived forty minutes later, BEFORE our pitcher (seriously, how long does it take to add vodka to some bloody mary mix???). I was hoping to have finished the bloody by then so I could order some coffee with my meal, but I digress.  Ate the delicious food, and got some boxes for leftovers. She asked if we were ready for our checks, we said yes, and I explained that my boyfriend and I would like our meals and 2/3rds of the pitcher on one check. We got the check (which wasn't split up the way we'd requested) and noticed that we had been charged for a different, more expensive, pitcher. We brought these issues up to the server, and she realized the mistake, and went to go fix it. Understandably, she can't fix it on her own, and needs someone with codes to adjust it. We're then introduced to the "recently promoted lead server". Apparently there's no management running this place. She had a lot of attitude and was extremely unprofessional. I'm not sure why someone would get in trouble for deleting an item that was rung in incorrectly (mistakes happen!), but this is what we were told. I showed her on the menu the difference between what we ordered, and what we were charged for. I then noticed that on the menu (see picture) it says their pitchers serve 4 drinks, and ours had only provided us with 3. When I questioned why that happened, she BLATANTLY told me it was because there were only three of us. I'm sorry, WHAT??? This made zero sense to me. No matter how many people are at the table, the pitcher should be filled to fill four drinks, as advertised. You don't dine out with two other people, order a bottle of wine, and a glass gets tossed from the bottle because there's only three of you lol (the audacity and incompetence is laughable now). At this point I would expect an entire meal to be compensated, but that's not what was offered or what happened. Probably because someone would get in trouble *cue eyeroll* After all this fuss, the bills are adjusted. My boyfriend and I received two bills, because apparently you can't just add the other 2/3rds onto the same bill....? Also makes no sense. Not sure what system you're using, but maybe look into getting Toast. It's user-friendly and you're able to split items up however you want and put split-up items onto whichever bill you'd like to keep things simple for you and the guest.  To the kitchen, keep on doing what you're doing. You guys rock. Front of the house, I have no idea what is going on, but basically everyone needs to be re-trained, whether it's on getting guests sat who've been waiting patiently, cleaning tables, food delivery, customer service, promptly making drinks, or ringing items in the correct way. "Lead Server", for future reference, never attempt to fight a customer when they're already clearly upset with their experience. The only words you ever need to say is "I'm sorry, you're right, I'll fix it". That's it. It's that easy. No one wants to hear excuses, and they especially don't want to deal with someone who has an attitude. The three of us left feeling like we were completely ripped off. read more

Short story...The food is pretty good! We decided to come here and did the online waitlist. It showed an approximate wait time of 25-40 minutes. I joined the list before I left home. It's about a 15 minute drive and when we checked in, we were told that it was a 20-30 minute wait. They send you an automated text allowing you to check the wait time and the website had us at 45-60 minutes despite what the hostess said. The website was accurate, we waited an hour before being seated. There were a lot of empty tables but I'm assuming that they didn't have enough staff members to fill them. We ordered the Shrimp N' Grits, Crab Cake Benedict, 1/2 order of Biscuit Beignet, Sweet Tea, and Hot Chocolate. *The Biscuit Beignet came out first like we asked and it tasted okay. You can tell it was fresh however, we weren't a fan of the fruity dipping sauce. *The Shrimp N' Grits were great. I wished that they would have drained some of the oil before serving as it was very excessive. I literally poured it into an empty bowl. I asked for no onions but they still added them. It wasn't a big deal though, the dish was delicious. *The Crab Cake Benedict was good but doesn't compare to the other dish though. It would have been nice for the cook to have mixed the cheese with the grits prior to serving. Once it got to the table it was hard to blend the cheese as the grits got a lot cooler. *Sweet Tea was definitely sweet and the Hot Chocolate tasted good. Our waitress, Stella, was absolutely incredible. Very attentive and polite. When we arrived, we noticed that she was dealing with a disgruntled customer. The wait time was quite long, even with putting our names on the waitlist ahead of time. I think we waited over an hour when we were originally told 15-20 minutes. I believe there was an issue with the kitchen staff and the kitchen getting behind. The front staff did a great job of trying to be accommodating by asking everyone if they would like something to drink during the wait. They even brought out deliciously warmed beignets. The restaurant seemed quite clean and was open and inviting. It's a new restaurant so everything looked pretty fresh. When we finally sat down, our waitress was really nice and attentive. The food was fine, nothing was wrong with it as I ended up eating the whole meal but it was just alright. It was a little more expensive than I think it should've been. I'm typing this while still waiting for our food. It doesn't matter how the food is at this point, we will never visit one of these restaurants again. And I intend to rate the same on every app possible. The food came. Average to poor quality. Mine was overcooked and the rest very disappointing. I have been to Another Broken Egg Cafe in South Florida so I was excited when this one came to Gainesville! I went on a Sunday for breakfast with friends and it was great! We had the beignets to share as a table with the marmalade jam which was delicious. I had the sunrise spinach scramble with breakfast potatoes and English muffin and a vanilla cold brew. Everything was delicious and the cold brew had cold foam which was a nice surprise. My husband had the Mardi Gras omelette with city grits which is basically loaded grits and a strawberry St. Germain's mimosa and he said everything was good and he had left overs! The portion sizes are huge. My two friends had the shrimp and grits and egg whites with breakfast potatoes and fruits respectively. They both said their meals were delicious as well! The service was excellent! The ambiance is chill and I like that it feels open and there is a patio area for dining as well. Their menu is pretty extensive with something for everyone. They have vegan and vegetarian options too! They have brunch cocktails, spiked coffees, regular coffees and a seasonal menu. This place is not only black owned but is one of my favorites so I'm so glad that it is brought to Gainesville! I know those iconic another broken egg coffee mugs from anywhere! This was my second time at this location and didn't realize I didn't write a review the 1st time, shame on me lol but anyway the 2nd go around was with my husband in which he had yet to try this location and let's just say when we left we both had full bellies and took naps later lol . Yes it was that good!!! The service was good, the waitstaff, hostess and perhaps a manager came to our table asking us how was the food, if we needed anything and how was everything, very pleasant staff I must say; nowadays you don't get that. The ambiance is very bright and light which I like a lot and very welcoming and they have several options for seating including a bar area. Although I wish they had like a hostess podium or something because when you walk in, it can be kind of awkward if you're waiting for a while but we didn't have that issue at all. OMG I know yall want the food review-OUTSTANDING! I got my same faithful which is the veggie delight omelette with fruit and coffee while my husband did it up and had the apple fritter french toast with the spiked cinnamon cold brew and let me tell you when I say he left no crumbs, he did just that! He even said the sausage was very good with a bit of a spicy kick. This place is one of my faves when it comes to breakfast options and I'm so glad we were able to try this location together and enjoy. Definitely, highly recommend here! So this is their first week being open so I don't want to be too harsh about the wait time given that it was also the weekend - the perfect brunch days. After signing up on the wait list it was about 20 minutes to get seated. They were already out of several items at 11 including some seasonal items and the biscuit beignets, which you get for free if you become part of their club. They have a separate vegetarian menu, but keep in mind the dish names are similar to the main dish items so be sure to specify the vegetarian one. The wait for the food was over an hour but the wait staff was very apologetic and even have us a second round of drinks on the house, which was nice. The booth we were at was right under then vent and it was cranked so we also had stuff blowing off our table. During the summer that cool breeze would be appreciated but not so much on a rainy winter day. Again, they are newly opened and very slow. Even though it wasn't super busy they were still very slow, but the food was good. They also have a menu of cocktails, boozy coffee and mocktails. If you're getting grits, opt for the city grits with cheese, tomato and green onion. read more

The food is great, at least what we ordered. The biggest problem was the service. We were texted at 12:37 pm that our table was ready. Took about 10 mins to get acknowledged and enter drinks. Ok, get it; it was busy. But then it took over a half hour to get our drinks to the table. Finally got our food at 1:59 pm. Horrific experience from start to finish aside from the food. I would never dine here again. We got there as a 3 person group and it was a 15 minute wait so my brothers gf left her number for the cell notification. About 30 minutes goes by with no notification so we head in to see what's going on only to see people who had arrived after us already being seated. They said they lost it but my brother's gf saw that it was right there, they just didn't bother contacting us. They apologized and sat us. We ordered a Bloody Mary pitcher and that took ages to come out. While sitting there we had not one but two different food runners try to deliver other tables foods to us. They weren't just momentarily confused either, they went around to multiple tables before finding the right people. We actually got our food first before the pitcher was rushed out and we didn't get any straws for our new drinks. It seemed a bit light but we were just happy to have our food as by now it was over an hour since we had first set foot in the restaurant. The food was excellent so takeout might be worth it. I had to go over to another table to get a bottle of ketchup for my potatoes as I wasn't going to wait another 20 minutes to get that fixed. Our server Tamya only checked on us once and we never got another drink or a water refill. We ate and then got the bill and the pitcher was $39.99 when it was clearly $33.49 on the menu and we wanted the bill split 1/3rd to me and 2/3rds to my brother and his gf when it was half and half on the 1st bill. I was like that doesn't seem right and we checked a menu from another table and it was only the $33.49 and our pitcher was light as it only had 3 drinks worth when it says it contains 4 on the menu. We brought this up to Tamya for her to fix and she got the "recently promoted" lead server to fix the issue. The lead server came over to "help out" and definitely needs training on how to handle customer issues and deescalation because she kept trying to argue with us instead of fixing the billing issue. She told us she couldn't comp on the alcohol without someone getting in trouble which as the customer is not at all my problem. It was a mistake but this is basically a bait and switch. She finally did rering the order but didn't comp us for the missing 4th drink but at this point we had already been there for an hour and forty something minutes and just paid and left. I'm not sure if there was a manager as I never saw one walking around and no one ever came up to us which was shocking to see during a busy brunch. Maybe they were just hiding in the back or someone was distracting them so the front of house staff that were doing a terrible job wouldn't get in trouble. read more
