I think it's a bit pricey for what you get. The biscuits are delicious, but you really only get one small one on most plates. Grits are delicious and I don't usually like grits. The gravy on the biscuit and gravy was a bit dry(?) not sure if my plate was just sitting on the warmers for a while and dried out, or if it's supposed to be like that. Potatoes were good! Service was a bit mid, I'm not sure if that's just how the employees are at this restaurant, but the dude we had was very dry and dismissive. read more

Everything we ordered from here was absolutely delicious. I was literally only able to take a pic of the coffee because by the time the food arrived (shortly after mocha coffee- to die for!) one taste test to make sure it was good and next thing you know, it's all gone. I ordered the house special Benedict eggs with a side of grits and bacon and moon dusted potatoes. Hands down one of the best grits I've ever tried in my lifeeeee. Must have. I was hesitant to try this place because of the reviews, but my friend was insistent that it was solid. We showed up with a party of 3 on a Saturday and there was a 45 minute wait. That's to be expected at a popular place with limited seating. However, the bar was open so me and my friends went and set at the bar. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The waitress suggested the pistachio baklava latte and it was SPECTACULAR. I don't know if I've had a latte I like better and it was at a price point of $5.25. I then ordered the piedmont omelette. This was a very solid flavorful omelette with no complaints. It was cooked well and the chicken sausage was a really good touch. Poblano hot sauce was also a very nice touch. The biscuit was light and flaky but not crumbly. If you are coming here and you don't order something that comes with a biscuit, get one. (And apple butter is out on the table ready to take that biscuit to the next level.) The grits were a must order. Cheesy but not overpowering. Now for a solo experience 25$ after tip is a bit much but that seems to be the going rate now days. I'll be back. read more

Overall: A Gainesville staple. When ppl think of going to breakfast and brunch, this is always a choice to go to! Ambiance: There is a lot of parking available, but it does get full on the weekends. It's in the Thornebrook area on the side of Fresh market and Five Guys. Inside looks like it hasn't been updated since they opened which has to be more than 20 years ago. I'm not a fan of how it looks tbh. Lighting is dim and the table tops look greasy even though it's not. Service: The wait time is usually accurate to what they tell you if not shorter. The service in my opinion has gotten better over the years. The servers check on you more but not a crazy amount. They are very attuned to refills needed which is nice. Food: I always get coffee even though I just find it "okay" lol I gotta have my coffee but then I always get a latte from Uppercrust after lol. The food is good. I know a lot of ppl like the grits. This place is always busy so come earlier than you want to put your name in and they give you a pager so you can walk around the Plaza while you wait. I got the oh my Grits bowl, the Grits are cheesy Grits, I'm not a big Grits person but I like when they have flavor in them, they were a little, soupy? I guess you could say,I i like some of the thicker, firmer Grits. You can also pick 4 toppings and all of the breakfast meals are served with a big biscuit. The biscuits are great. My mom and dad both ordered the Flying Biscuit breakfast and I ordered the biscuits & gravy which happens to be my go to here. I also ordered one of the seasonal flavored iced lattes which was a toffee nut with oat milk. It was very delicious, however a little sweet for my liking. Ok now onto the food, which came out pretty quickly. My meal was the biscuits and gravy which is made up of a split biscuit topped with scrambled eggs and chicken sausage gravy. I did opt in for their cheesy grits because, that's what they're known for. My biscuits were soft and fluffy. The chicken sausage gravy has a peppery flavorful taste that is hearty and does not leave you feeling heavy. I literally sopped that up with the eggs in one bite. You can't go wrong with their grits. They're slow cooked, cheesy, and creamy. It's like they melt into your mouth with each bite. I couldn't eat my biscuit that comes with the meal but I did take it to go with some apple butter. My parents enjoyed their meals and leaving no crumbs behind. Overall, it was a good visit and if you like Southern food or biscuits, definitely give it a try! read more

All in all, the Flying Biscuit Cafe is a good destination if you are in the Gainesville, Florida area and craving a nice meal. I came here with a few business clients at the suggestion of one of these associates, who is a regular here. The menu is more breakfast driven, but I ended up going with their patty melt. The patty melt also came with their "gold dusted potatoes." The burger and the gold dusted potatoes were both good. Our server was friendly, helpful and professional and only enhanced our overall experience. Even though the place was pretty crowded, our food was delivered to us in a quick amount of time and our server regularly checked on us and kept our drinks filled. The Flying Biscuit Cafe had a nice enough ambiance and since it was in a shopping plaza, parking was not an issue. Overall, I would definitely recommend here and I will give it five stars. read more

Of course the biscuit's are buttery and soft, but put those two together and you have a perfect combo for your brunch date. Our order: Veggie Scramble w Fruit ($12.50) Chicken and Waffles w Moon Dusted Potatoes ($12.75) Chorizo Hash ($14.25) Mocha ($4.25) Mimosa Flight ($11.50) Overall the food and service were really good, no particular notes or complaints. I gave The Flying Biscuit Cafe a second chance today and was disappointed again! Service was not good but the food was just barely acceptable. I asked what was in the fresh fruit salad and told my server I was allergic to grapes and pineapple. She assured me there was no pineapple in my fruit salad and said I could just pick out the grapes. I agreed. When it arrived, however, you guessed it...there were ten pieces of pineapple in the tiny bowl along with grapes, two bruised and mushy strawberry pieces and three pieces of honeydew melon that tasted old. There were however five beautiful fresh blueberries. The cafe's signature item, a biscuit, was equally sad; greasy and crumbly though it was warm at least. The egg cooked inside had the dreaded golden lace over the entire surface. I peeled that off and got the biscuit down but if I hadn't been so hungry I would have walked out. read more

Casual atmosphere, cozy and trendy style makes you feel confortable while you enjoy your food. 3. Food: About my third time here. The scrambled eggs are great, bacon well cooked, flavorful and crispy, round sausage patty is to my delight. The biscuit was fresh and hot just waiting for that butter or jelly, I also had a pancake (See the pictures included) and my wife had a waffle with her breakfast, both were returned "twice" and I was able to eat half a pancake due to the second time being undercooked as well. The waffle and the pancake had that mushy or doughy texture inside. The main concern with undercooked pancakes is the potential presence of raw eggs, which could harbor harmful bacteria like Salmonella. 4. Service was ok, due to the high traffic and the place being full, service suffers substantially and you have to wait a little more than usual. 5- Conclusion, from "1 to 10", I'll give it a 4" if you love pancakes and waffles, I'm sure you will agree. Due to the waffle and pancake, that put the damper on our morning feast, we would have given honors. But, this time I'll give it a 4, for a not so pleasant experience. read more

This is one of the best american breakfasts i've had. There is a big wait so be sure to call ahead on weekends. The moon dusted potatoes are very salty so beware of that. The waffles were perfectly fluffy and absolutely delicious, some of the best i've had at a breakfast restaurant. You have your choice of eggs and they cook them perfectly to your order. The bacon and the sausage were also cooked well. All the food was amazing and I am dying to come back. The wait staff was also super attentive and helpful in the ordering process.
