Can't comment on ambiance. This is a for a 6/14 early p.m. takeout order. My wife visited to pick up an order of Chicken Pot Pie. It wasn't very good. There was plenty of chicken (a good thing), but the chicken was overcooked. There were also too few veggies and then only carrots and corn. Also, the crust was so-so. AMAZING SERVICE BUT FOOD WAS BLAND. My first time here and this place seemed very promising given that there's much food options for dining & an outside patio. Our waitress was VERY accommodating and knowledgeable of their menu however my food was nearly close to disappointing. I ordered their (NY medium) steak & eggs from the daily special board with a half Belgian waffle. The steak was medium BUT had no taste pretty bland a bit tough and eggs were subpar. You have the option to add onions with the hash browns which PROBABLY would have been better. I've had steak & eggs at various locations before but never was disappointed. I would still come back and try the other food but will never get the steak and eggs again at this diner :( read more

OMG...this place is a food coma waiting to happen! I was enticed away from my favorite beach eateries by some friends when I was in town and I was skeptical that they could outdo my normal breakfast favorites but Boy Howdy, did they ever! It was so amazing that I went back the next day to try their lunch menu. I'm going to review both experiences in this review. Breakfast: Their menu features unique and delicious breakfast options, including Chicken and Waffles and Crab Cakes Benedict. We had both at our table and let me just say, Chicken and Waffles is enough for two people or two meals! The chicken is perfectly cooked and the waffles are light and fluffy. The crab cakes were mostly crab, which was a delightful surprise and the hollandaise sauce was not too heavy. I regretted not getting the cinnamon roll pancakes, but my companions say they are to die for. For lunch we had the Holy Davoli Burger and it is quite the masterpiece. You had better be hungry and NOT on a diet because it is a carb and fat bomb. A burger stuffed between two grilled cheese. Need I say more. My girlfriend, her two grandchildren and I hit this diner after the Easter Sunday crowd, around 6pm & the Easter Special was practically sold out! So, I decided to try the chicken & waffles and it was really good. The chicken was golden & fried hard as requested & it was still juicy. They serve a sweet & sour sauce for the chicken made w/the syrup & I can't remember the other ingredient ‍ But it's good! The waffles were soft and hot! I can't stand a cold waffle It's serve with strawberry butter...OMG..can you delicious The children's menu is the standard children's menu, but the only complaint was the Mac & cheese was not good. And this girl loves Mac & cheese! I tasted it but no one's Mac & cheese is going to come close to Chickfila...so there you have it. Overall, it was good random pick. This is only the 2nd restaurant I've visited in a year since the pandemic. It was nice quiet, the music was great and staff was friendly. This isn't a full review since I didn't dine in. A few co-workers and I ordered from Metro because we heard good things and it wasn't far from the office. About 6 of us ordered, which I know can be difficult to heap upon a kitchen staff on a Friday afternoon. Metro Diner offers classic American food with modern flair. They do breakfast all day - a draw for many diners. I ordered the Pulled Pork Mac Stack, which I can attest is fantastic. It's mac and cheese with pulled pork on top and a side of waffles. It's breakfast and dinner combined and it was a hefty portion. I think the only thing missing was maple syrup, but there was butter for the waffles (maybe they had maple syrup in the bag and one of my co-workers took it, but I'm not sure). From my perspective, Metro Diner certainly delivered in regards to portion size and food quality. A couple of my co-workers were not as impressed with their entrees - either their orders came out wrong, too small, or not what they imagined. Regardless, their experiences do not match mine, but I think Metro deserves a chance - dine in for sure. And for those who keep track, Metro Diner is a chain. I learned that people previously affiliated with Outback Steakhouse founded Metro Diner, so if you're a fan of Outback and their service then this may appeal to you. JV read more

Well, my husband woke me up on this sunday morning with glorious pics and great Yelp reviews and jumped out of bed anxious to try this place. I ordered the San Francisco Benedict and it was good. Nothing exceptional, but good. It did not exceed my expectations, and did not disappoint. The eggs were poached properly and this seems to be a challenge for alot of places. Now the bad news. My husband ordered the strawberry cheesecake stuffed waffle that was the special this morning. It looked quite impressive upon delivery but the execution was horrible. The center was stuffed with large, hard clumps of cream cheese and strawberries. Very wierd. It would have been so much better if the cream cheese would have been creamed with sweetener, and strawberries. He basically had to scrape off all of this center garbage. Yum! Metro Diner! I know they have one in St. Augustine Florida...so when this place opened up I was there the first week! I went before thanks giving...i got their thanksgiving special...which was a waffle made out of stuffing topped with mashed potatoes, sliced turkey, and drenched in gravy....with a side of cranberry sauce. Let me tell you. I didn't get a chance to eat thanksgiving dinner this year, but I am so glad I got a chance to feel like I was getting a home cooked meal that was like Thanksgiving in my mouth! If you wanna know a fun fact about me...I never go to a restaurant and not order dessert. I ordered the pumpkin pie cheesecake. AMAZINGLY delicious. I came back and ordered it again...then I came back for a third time to get it. I was very satisfied with their food, and their service. People are friendly, and the restaurant was clean. I did have one bad experience with a waiter...he just didn't listen it seemed like...I would have to ask for things multiple times, and orders were wrong...and he would try to fix it, and something else would be wrong with it...but other than that. I have loved this place...and I am so glad its by my house. Someone get me a gift card please. LOL read more

Yay, finally another Yummy Brunch Spot in Chesapeake!! First time, was on grand opening day! Met up with my sister and baby girl, and was warmly greeted by their hostess. Looked around and it's a super cute diner type of restaurant. Sat down at a booth and was greeted by our super friendly waitress and their trainer, they both told us about the menu and what they recommended. I was recommended their chicken and waffles, which of course I had to order. And the food came out super fast!! The Chicken and Waffles is super delicious, especially the strawberry butter on top of the waffles... yesssss plsssss! Second time around, was 2 days later (yesss that good that I came back and took my dad with us this time) I recommended my dad to get the chicken, which he did. He enjoyed it, and liked their secret not really a secret sauce "Honey with Hot Sauce" a must try with the chicken!! My sister and I tried different dishes this 2nd time around, I actually tried out there Shrimp and Grits cakes that are infused with cheese, roasted red peppers and Andouille sausage. There are so many things that I would like to say, but not enough words. So let me start off by saying... This is one of the BEST PLACES EVER! I know they are small on the inside but the heart of this place is incredible. I had a party of 20 coming in for a bday dinner celebration, so I went ahead and called a few days earlier. I spoke with the manager Amanda and although having a tiny bit of "OH CRAP" moment, she asked me to come in to meet with her. I had never been to this location, so I didn't realize the space issue. I went in and met with Amanda, such an amazing and helpful person BTW, and she was nothing but positive vibes and very accomidating. She absolutely went above and beyond to help us and I left from that meet-n-greet feeling confident. I arrived about 30 mins early the day of the dinner, just to get checked in and give them time to set up for us.. To my surprise, they already had the tables ready and were ready to take care of us. Our waiter Caleb is by far one of the sweetest people I've ever met. Never did any of us go without. Always a full drink, all need met, anything you could think of, ON TOP OF IT.. Now this is 5 start service.. BUTTTTTTT, the food...... This is the part where emotions get thrown around.. Mostly because I was feeling so indifferent at this point.. Never have I tasted something so amazing!! I mean it.. It made me think if my mama, my granma and then some. The cheesy tots were the size of golf balls and OMG with every bite you were drawn more and more in to this heavenly touch on my taste buds.. I knew I had to stop though because I heard my main meal was a beast.. AND BOY WAS IT!! Lets talk about the Pulled Pork Mac Stack... A half-pound of BBQ pulled pork piled over creamy macaroni & cheese and our cheddar cornbread waffle topped with maple butter. When I say this made you want to slap your mama, I meant your siblings, your aunts, your uncles... Shoot, even my great great granma wasn't safe.. This had every single taste I was looking for. The cornbread waffle gave it that solid but sweet taste, the mac n cheese gave it that creamy taste and topped with the hearty bbq pulled pork.. I had enough for 2 meals and if was even just ask good heated up!! I am so stoked that you all are literally right across the street from my apartment. We heard great things about this diner so we decided to celebrate my father in laws birthday here. It was indeed worth the trip and people were not wrong. It is no ordinary diner as they have a great selection of food items with some modern flair. The place was rocking with couple people waiting for a table so this place has to be good right?!? We ordered the fish and chips and philly cheese steak and sampled the chicken and waffles. Portion size is huge for the price you pay! Great value! The philly cheese steak was good but a little underwhelming. The fish and chips was a hit with the special tartar sauce. The cod was fried perfectly and came out hot. Apparently, the chicken and waffles is a main attraction here and it quite is worth it. You get half a chicken which is plenty of protein and the waffles come with strawberry butter. Mmmm! The sweet and spicy sauce that comes with it is actually syrup with Louisiana hot sauce which surprisingly works well together. Great food! The waitress was super nice and welcoming but she has some trouble with the check system. We had to split our check into two and she looked confused. Maybe she needs a little more practice to it's the register? Other then that, she was was pleasant with us and helped us as promptly as she can. My son was craving chicken and waffles. So we decided to go to metro diner which I was clueless on where we were going. I figure the food would be mostly breakfast. I looked at menu and salmon caught my eye. It was served along with homemade mashed potatoes and green beans. I got greedy and added a side salad. Haha The waitress came back with our drinks and she brought out a saucer with hot sauce in it and she poured hot syrup on top of it. My son food looked delish! I was speechless. The only reason I give this restaurant a 4/5 is their noise level. They were so packed when we went for lunch (on a weekday the Friday before Christmas), but they need some rugs or something to soak up all the noise between the kitchen & the dining area with so much noise. I asked another customer if it was always that busy and loud, and she said, "yes, but the food is so worth it." I would say the food was really good. I thought it was a local establishment, but apparently it's a chain, which was disappointing to me, honestly. My dad got the Reuben, and he said it was really good. My Gramz got a burger, which she said was "meh, okay" (she never gets burgers ever, so that might just be on her). Lastly, I got the avocado toast, and it was good, but they put some seasonings in the avocado which I didn't love- I just like straight up avocado on my toast (however there was a tomato, which was an unexpected pleasant surprise!!). The service from the hostesses to our server (and the manager) was great. Everyone was so warm & welcoming, and they made sure our visit was enjoyable. The only thing, again, is the noise situation- I literally had to yell to speak to my dad or Gramz, and that was really frustrating- we ended up not even talking for the most part. Oh- last thing! They offer military discount! Just ask your server for it, and she'll check your id and give it to you. That is always a nice touch when I business does that. read more

Went here Sunday with some family. Had a 20min wait which is expected for a Sunday morning but it was well worth it. Everyone who went enjoyed their food. I personally got the spicy honey chicken biscuit. It was really good, not really spicy like it said but you could taste the flavor of whatever hot sauce they use. Both of the guys had eggs Benedict and devoured it. My sister in law got a breakfast pie that she said was good just a little more grease than what she would have preferred. Met a friend for lunch at Metro Diner in VaBeach on Tues, Feb. 6th. The staff was very quick to welcome and seat us. The whole place was very neat and clean. I ordered the meat lovers omelette and my friend order the club sandwich. Both were over the top and perfect. My friend raved about his club sandwich, and he is a very discerning eater. Food here is AWFUL! first off let me say the service was good but the food was burnt! How do you burn hash browns and toast? We went to metro diner for breakfast in Suffolk and it was amazing so decided to have dinner at metro diner again but we went to the one in Chesapeake instead because we were closer to the Chesapeake one. We were seated fairly quickly so that was great. The problem came when we got our food. We ordered a steak tips meal and a 2 egg breakfast with hash browns, toast and sausage meal. The steak meal was okay the beans were not good (the one in Suffolk had delicious beans). My meal was just burnt and gross! They burnt my hash browns and flipped it over so I couldn't see the burnt side it was so crunchy!!! They also burnt my toast how do you burn toast????? I would steer clear of this metro diner in Chesapeake and just go to the one is Suffolk. I have posted photos of both gross Chesapeake and the very delicious food at Suffolk location. Skip Chesapeake and head to Suffolk unless you want burnt and bland tasting food then go to Chesapeake! read more

Great diner food! My family stops here every year we are in the VA beach area for vacation.

So my family and I have passed by this place since it opened. The name wasn't instantly recognizable and we've had some terrible experiences trying to support new and unfamiliar places recently. So we were very hesitant to stop. I am so glad that we took a chance. We were greeted immediately and sat in a booth. Our server arrived shortly thereafter. Since this was our first time it took us a minute to check out the menu. It had a nice variety, but wasn't huge and overwhelming, which often leads to poor quality food. We settled on the Chicken and Waffles and Chicken Parm. Everything was wonderful! The waffles were warm and perfectly cooked. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They were topped with a strawberry infused butter, which totally took them over the top. The fried chicken that came with it, was perfectly seasoned! Seasoning seems to always be an issue with chicken and waffles at other places. Not here! It was also juicy! Plus. Plus! The chicken parm was just as tasty, although I can't speak on the pasta, since I didn't have any. Service was exceptional and we were never left with an empty glass or wondering where our server was. She was always nearby. After one visit, we absolutely love this place and are very happy that we have an alternative to the usual Mexican and Chinese spots near our subdivision.
