Came here for lunch one day. We got chicken tenders because we know how awesome their spicy chicken biscuit is. The chicken tenders were hand breaded, but didn't have any flavor to them. They looked so appealing, but someone forgot the salt/pepper. We really wanted to love this lunch, but every bite was just plain fried chicken. The fries were basic. Straight cut. My family of four dined here based on the yelp reviews we read as well as its location. Being from out of town, we didn't have anything to go on other than yelp. My husband had the club sandwich and I had the grilled cheese. Our kids had the burger and chicken pot pie. The food was good. The place was a little less clean than I would have hoped- floor had crumbs under tables. One of the waitresses told me there were only three of them working the dinning room that night. Sadly Eric and Amanda the managers that responded to my initial review are no longer working here. It's a little scary but I hope they have good employees to make sure this business stays afloat. I actually asked for them since they had responded to my previous review And I was told they had moved on to better things and went to work at the Green Turtle. Upon coming in. I sat anywhere I chose. I was seated at the booth to wait for my party of three. I requested some tea and they returned back with my cup and hot water with only the options of two tea bags. How disappointing honestly. They were running short on supply and that was all that they had. They did not have flavors I liked but I just went with it. The tea selections I was forced to only have were blueberry hibiscus and turmeric ginger tea. I chose the turmeric ginger. I had the last of the teas. No more until they eventually get their truck load. I waited for my waitress for a good 15 min for her to return. I assume she was waiting for the remainder of my party. For what you pay for you definitely get a good meal each time and a lot of food with it, i dont think there's a single bad item on the menu. We went to Metro yesterday during the 11am hour. It wasn't dead but far from busy. We were promptly greeted by a lovely waitress but sat in a different section. The service was amiable. The restaurant was cold plus we were seated under the 4 fans. I looked around and everyone had their sweatshirts or jackets on. One person even had their hoodie up it was so cold. As usual, the music that tries to please everyone but ultimately no one - was too loud. All of this was the same as last visit. Husband ordered a club. I ordered the hot honey chicken bites w a side of fries. It's been a while since I've been to Metro but I have ordered delivery several times with increased mixed results. I've always been a lover of their chicken and waffles but every delivery, something is missing like strawberry butter or the hot spicy syrup. Then the portions became smaller. Last week, I ordered a turkey dinner and hot honey chicken bites as an appetizer. Loved the chicken bites more than the usual chicken and there was a good amount of chicken included (though they did forget the celery). Sooo... fast forward to yesterday. I got HALF the chicken bites as my delivery order and (2) 3 inch long pieces of celery. For $3.79, I got about 15 fries. What's worse is I had a very off-putting flavor w my first bite. 2nd bite, I realized it was a fishy/seafood flavor. 3rd bite I checked to make sure I had chicken and not fish. Nope! Chicken. Then I just doused it in the extra sauce I had to ask for. Later on, my husband complained about his food and even he got the fishy taste! He ordered a club sandwich with fries! I can only think they cook all food in one big fryer. Seafood, fries, chicken, everything. And they don't change the oil enough. Between the smaller portions and tainted flavors, we're done with Metro. $45 (with tip) skimpy lunch that tastes like fish where no fish was ordered is not worth our money. I'm sorry to post this but many restaurants have got to do better for higher prices. At least MAINTAIN what made them good in the first place. First of all, when we walked in we were greeted and seated by the hostess, who was in a wheelchair. Big hats off to this establishment for having her on staff! Our waitress,Brandy, welcomed us, asked if it was our first time there, and explained the specials. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and had a bright personality. I ordered the salmon with broccoli and mashed potatoes. Brandy told me the broccoli would be cooked in a veggie butter and it was delicious! The food was hot and well seasoned. My friend ordered the fish and chips, but easily substituted the fries for squash & zucchini. She was very happy with her meal as well. While we were eating, the manager, Amanda, came by, said Brandy told her it was our first time there, and asked us if we enjoyed our food. She also said to let her know if we had questions or concerns. She had a visible presence in the diner and was checking on other customers as well. Eat here once a month. Each and every time the food is on point. Portions are more than enough. Mostly get the Bissell w/ pancakes but you can substitute for two pieces of French toast and if you don't want all of the meat that comes with it, you can sub again for two extra pieces. Most restaurants don't allow subs but a small up charge here is no problem and expected. Cracker Barrel used to be my breakfast go to but they have fallen waaaaaay off quality and portion wise. My check for breakfast has never been more than $18 per person. The wait staff and managers are super friendly and very attentive. Even when the place is busy the manager comes by and explains why and the waiter/waitress assures every few minutes the food is coming up soon. I just wish they had more than 2 locations. I would however, suggest that Desmond check in on his tables a "little" more than he did with us. I understand that there is a thin line between checking on your table and being annoying, it comes with the job! LOL The Mrs had the chicken (tenders) and waffles. I highlighted tenders because you actually have a choice between tenders, and bone in chicken. Either way the chicken is fried to perfection! Ladies be warned, the chicken and waffles portion size is NOT for lightweight eaters, this breakfast dish is HUGE! My wife could NOT eat all that food and had enough leftover for lunch and dinner appetizers! LOL I had the Bissell breakfast, your standard eggs, bacon, potatoes (cubes), toast and pancakes! Talk about a dish full of CARBS! My Lord, if you eat everything that is served with this dish, you' better be ready for a nap afterwards! I couldn't eat all that food but I did enjoy my breakfast. I visited Metro Diner today around 10am for the first time. I was politely greeted and promptly seated. I ordered the Fried Chicken Benedict and it was surprisingly served to me in a matter of 15 minutes. The portion was generous and after one bite...I about fell off of my chair it was so good. The biscuit was fresh and nice and fluffy. The fried chicken strip was crispy, seasoned perfectly and was just as juicy as can be be. Poached egg was done right and the hollandaise rich and creamy...hash browns....crispy and seasoned perfect. My server was attentive and just as sweet as can be. It was also also nice to see the tribute to our armed forces hung above the diner. I really appreciated that. Over all just a pleasant experience. I would recommend this place to anyone. I was hungry at a reasonable hour one Sunday recently and stopped by here. It's busy! The wait didn't seem to long for the folks mingling out front, but I was seated quickly at the bar. I found the bar seats to be rather uncomfortable, the height was too high to put your feet on the ground and there was no place to put your feet. My waitress was stellar, she knew the menu well and zipped through entering it on her tablet. The food came out at a good speed. You're able to watch the cooks do the food if you sit at the bar and they keep a fast pace and good communication with the food runners at the warming window. My bloody mary was OK, the mix caused an unpleasant silt to hit the bottom of the glass so frequent stirring or drinking from the top was involved. It only came with a pale, wussy celery stick, no olives or anything. My omlette was also OK. It was the fast made kind where there's a pan of eggs simmering in the pan, ready for random toppings to be thrown on and the egg folded in half. I like omlettes better where the other ingredients are mixed in. That way you don't end up with an off fold where half the toppings are gummed to the plate with cheese. The French fries were good and the tomatoes super fresh. I probably won't stop by here unless I want a very quick bite to eat in the area. It's so crowded and busy that it's not welcoming to sit and talk with your friends, if you can even hear them over the din of the place. Definitely don't want to 'perch' at the bar! read more

Pleasantly surprised:) We were trying to figure out something different (and my daughter DID NOT want pizza - the princess has spoken) and Metro Diner came up as an option. Place was clean, waitresses were friendly, food was delivered pretty quick and was extremely good. We pretty much all got hamburgers. The family got some variation of the"All American Burger" and they all said it was awesome. I got the "Holy Davoli Burger." I saw this burger and had to try it out, who couldn't? This burger combines my two favorites, cheeseburger and grilled cheese. The burger is literally a cheeseburger smashed between two grilled cheese sandwiches. Who does that? Metro Diner does. Here's how their menu describes this burger: "Half pound of Angus beef burger topped with lettuce slaw (shredded lettuce, chopped pickle and mayo) in between two grilled cheese sandwiches stuffed with American cheese, ripe tomatoes and our own cherrywood smoked bacon. Served with your favorite side. | Add a fried egg" So next time we go I'll try to get something different on the menu. Which may be tough because that Davoli burger was the shhhhhhh.
