Authentic, locally owned, high quality Greek food, I have nothing but good things to say about Meraki Grill. The special Greek dip was a perfect appetizer to a hearty, healthy, and tasty wrap. The staff was attentive, food arrived quickly, and the attention to detail in the quality of food and decor of the space was perfect. I will be back!

Chicken yerros and roasted eggplant dip, pita bread with salad
    Laura W.

This is a new restaurant that has opened up very near to my house and I have been wanting to try and I finally got to try it yesterday. I placed a pick up order for the chicken yerros it came with a large cucumber salad, carrot, lettuce, salad & sauce/dressing. And I also ordered the roasted eggplant dip with pita bread. And I was not disappointed first of all the portions were phenomenal. this homeo lasted me from what would be called lunch into dinner and some of my teenagers ate some of the pita bread as well. The seasoned chicken and veggies were a perfect combination of flavors. The roasted eggplant was probably my favorite. I love onion and garlic the more the better! I'm not too sure if they make their breads in house but it was delicious. The only negative thing for me with my meal was the sauce or salad dressing. It was just two vinegary for me, so I know next time and there will be a next time I will request tzatziki sauce as a sub. The inside looks quite nice. There was quite a few people at the tables and people picking up order so I can tell this is becoming a popular spot. Looking forward to trying different plates from here in the near future.

    Chicken yurro with side salad

Today I got the chicken Yurro. This thing was huge! Came with a side salad. The salad was just lettuce, tomato and cucumber. Not a Greek salad which I would have liked. The yurro had lots and lots of chicken, some kind of sauce, lettuce, tomato, red onion and some fries inside. It was pretty good!!

I went here for lunch with a friend today. Meraki Hellenic Grill is located off of Old Seward Hwy past Huffman going towards DeArmoun Rd. It is housed in an unassuming strip mall next to the Southside Grill. The interior of the dining area is small but clean and spotless, with Greek-themed decor displayed on the walls. The manager of the restaurant, who I believe is the owner, was very friendly but very busy as he was the only one serving orders to the diners. This would explain the "Help Wanted" sign on the front door needing a waiter-waitress. We took a table against the wall at the back of the restaurant which gave us a clear view of the dining area. The menu is short but versatile with specials on dishes written on a small blackboard that change often. For the appetizer, we picked Dolmades (grape leaves stuffed with rice and spices) which was listed as one of the specials. They were gone in a few minutes as soon as it arrived at our table. The Dolmades were covered with olive oil and parsley on the side. A large slice of lemon was also provided for added flavor. Absolutely delicious. For the main dishes, I decided to order the Doner Kebab Yerro, probably more recognizable when spelled "gyro" (lamb/beef mixture with onions, tomatoes, tzatziki, parsley, and fries wrapped in a pita). Honestly, this has got to be the best Yerro I've had in recent memory. There is a slab of meat on display (Halal?) behind the register that reminds me of the Middle Eastern markets I've seen in New York City. The meat was sliced from this display and was so tender and flavorful. The tzatzkiki sauce and the thin sliced fries were outstanding complements to the pita. The salad on the side was also delicious with their homemade balsamic dressing. My friend ordered the Pork Yerro and said that this was amazing. The pork was roasted traditional spitfire style and reminded me of sliced pork belly. Normally, I would eat entrees and there would still be enough for a second meal. Not this time. Both of us ate everything that was set in front of us. I am still thinking about the meal as I type this review. That's how incredible the food was. However, what really made the experience memorable and stand out for us was the owner/manager himself. Being short-handed without waitstaff, he was the only one to serve everyone during the lunch rush and worked so hard but remained friendly. Upon leaving, he was having technical problems with the computerized register at the front counter. He was unable to close out our check after trying to ring up the transaction. He had no luck and told us not to worry about it. After having such a great meal and seeing how he worked so hard in the dining room, I would've felt bad to leave without paying. We flat out refused and asked how much the bill was. He said it was $30 for the meals and the appetizers, we gave him $40 and told him to keep the change. I hope he gets the register fixed soon as I don't think the other diners realized that the poor guy could not ring up the checks for those on the way out. It's individuals like this that encourage me to support this restaurant and send the word out to everyone about this place.

Very fresh! Very Mediterranean! Very OPA!! Highly recommend the kebab dish with the lamb and beef meat. The chicken platter, my goodness also fantastic. This is a small intimate type place, great for a date or a small group. Service was attentive. Looking forward to trying dessert next time!! I was stuffed!

Real rating: 4.5/5 The place is small, only less than 10 tables but it neat and nice looking. There was one server and she was very nice. We didn't have to wait too long for our food. The food was really good. The Hellenic Mix Grill platter was huge ($49) can definitely be shared between 2 people. It had the 3 types of meat: chicken, pork and lamb/beef. The meats sat on top of thin steak fries, which was nice because they crisped up due to the thinness. The pita bread was fluffy and delicious. Everything was seasoned well, except my hubby thinks the chicken could've had a bit more "oomph". I appreciate that it wasn't dry and it tasted fresh. I'm also a sucker for a good Tatziki and they had pretty good tatziki. We had to ask for another one since the one they came with the platter was not enough. Overall, love the food and would come back again especially if I'm craving some delicious Greek food.

Can't remember the name of this, just that it's really good!

The yerros are bursting and delicious! The salads are crisp and flavorful! The setting is quiet, clean, and comfortable. Thanks for being open and serving great foods with a friendly smile. We love this lil' place that popped up in our south-end neighborhood.

Meraki Grill - A Hidden Gem! Wow! It's been a long time since I've had food this delicious. We ordered the grill for $45, and it was easily enough for two--plus leftovers! The chicken could've used a bit more flavor, but the other meats were absolutely fantastic. The tomatoes, peppers, onions, and fries were all incredibly tasty. While we were eating, two other customers even stood up to congratulate the chef! Service was excellent--the hostess was beyond kind, and our server was professional and reserved. The restaurant is small but cozy. This is officially my new favorite spot in the south area--I'll definitely be back!

After another about a year hiatus we finally have the best Greek food in town back in our lives! Meraki has no moved from the east side to the southside & are located in a strip mall in the Huffman area. If y'all can remember this restaurant was originally located in Eagle River (personally this was my favorite location since that's where I live haha) & closed down during 2021. They again have their own storefront, and this one has a decent amount of seating for in house dining. It also seems like they've decide to undergo a name change to Meraki Afrah from Meraki Hellenic Grill. While they have a new name & a new location the food is the same excellent & delicious. Lucky for me I'm in the Huffman area at least once a week so I was able to order take out in one of the first few weeks of their reopening. One of the owners answered the phone & she's always very helpful & kind. My food was ready fairly quickly as well. I ordered a pork yerro & tyrokafteri (spicy feta dip). The yerro was packed with meat, veggies & my favorite a few French fries. It comes with a nice side salad so you get the best of both worlds. The dip was so flavorful. I love tyrokafteri & this one definitely packs a good amount of spice & tons of feta cheese. It's $15, but it's also a good sized portion from the photo you can see it's packed in a large dip container so it is portioned out. Fun fact gyros in Greece are either pork or chicken. A lamb or lamb & beef mixture would actually be referred to as doner kebab, which Meraki serves some times as a special. There's only a handful of restaurants that use a vertical rotisserie & stack their own meat for their gyros/doner kebab/shawrma & Meraki is one of them. A lot of places serve pre packaged emulsified kebab meat like you would find at Costco or Freddie's. So when you order a meal from here you're getting the real deal, hand shaved meat. This is definitely my favorite spot for Greek food in town, and I highly recommend you give them a try. For a sit down meal down skip out on the grilled octopus or calamaraki!

    Pork Yerros

I went here with a few co-workers for lunch. Initially I was a little concerned as it was quiet, but by the time we left, it was quite busy. I went with the Pork Yerros. Which is sliced spit fired pork built on grilled pita, tzatziki, onions, tomatoes, and fries inside. The last couple times I've had gyros, they've had fries in them and I'm beginning to be a fan. This gyro was stuffed with pork and the tzatziki tasted great. It was a perfect balance of flavors. The salad tasted great as well. My only complaint is that there wasn't a similar gyro with lamb. However, that wouldn't stop me from coming back. The service was great as well. There are several items on the menu I wouldn't mind trying in the future. If you're in the mood for greek food, you won't be disappointed with Meraki Hellenic Grill.

I can't believe this Greek food gem has been in South Anchorage for two years and I'm just discovering it. It's family-owned and operated by a lovely Greek family who cooks using their grandmother's recipes, which makes every dish feel special. The food is outstanding--authentic, comforting, and full of flavor.

The family that owns and operates this gem is Greek and they are not only amazing cooks, but they care about their community!! I have been there eating several times this winter and obviously homeless people would come to the door and be given water, hot soup, half a sandwich, etc. that just made me love this place more. Now to the food. First of all I had the meatball sub which was not only delicious but super filling. The meat was very well seasoned, and the fresh basil just made the marinara pop even more, add the freshly shaved Parmesan cheese and you've got something special. The homemade bread puts this thing into overdrive! Crispy on the outside, light, delicate but not falling apart and heavy enough to hold together all that deliciousness without being filling like you just ate a large pizza. Now to the ridiculous tomato basil soup. I love the clam chowder but the tomato basil is my favorite. Savory, full of flavor, smooth, creamy and not greasy. This in my opinion is the perfect pairing to the meatball sub. You're welcome! The customer service here is amazing too just like the owners and the food. You will always be greeted by a smiling face, and treated like family. You will not regret stopping here. I've eaten the Meatball sub, The Philly, the lasagna and The Gyro ( lamb and chicken) all have been 10 out of 10. The ambiance is like a neighborhood dinner with a small dining room. You will love it!

Organic Oasis is located on Spenard Rd. and W. 26th Ave. in a strip mall next to Video Game Depot. The interior dining room is open and spaciously laid out. A stage is set up in one corner of the dining area for live music or open mic nights and is one of several places hosting Spenard Jazz Fest this year. Shelves decorated with antiques for sale as well as artwork and crafts from local artists adorn the entire wall next to the stage. The employees were busy but friendly and greeted me when I walked in. I had just finished a workout earlier before arriving and decided to try one of their Power Smoothies on a whim. I chose the Sea Foam Smoothie with the Moon Mix (green papaya powder, flax seed, chicory, pectin, rice bran, calcium, magnesium, calcium, and L. acidophilus with 72 ionic trace minerals extracted from sea water....sounds very healthy to me!) that promotes cleansing, clarity and weight loss as the health benefits. Not knowing what to expect from such an eclectic list of ingredients, the smoothie itself was delicious and refreshing after the first sip. It certainly lives up to its name as the Sea Foam by its appearance (I think kale was one of the ingredients I missed due to the color). I had the Peanut Butter Conspiracy in a previous visit (peanut butter, banana, apple juice, and spirulina) which was also very good. I can't help but think that the owners are vinyl collectors of classic rock. On a side note, Peanut Butter Conspiracy was the name of a psychedelic pop rock band from the late 60's. Smoothies aside, the food here is also worth trying out. Some of the dishes I had on previous visits include the Lamb Burger (Australian lamb, red onion, lettuce, tomato, feta, Swiss cheese and tomatoes), the Chopped Chicken Salad (tomato, bell peppers, cucumbers, red onions, and sunflower seeds), the Roasted Brussels Sprouts with chipotle sauce, and the Bacon Beef Bleu Burger (organic grass fed beef, avocado, bleu cheese, lettuce, red onions, tomato, mayo, and uncured turkey bacon). They offer delivery through DoorDash and a website to order online for pick-up. This is a good option for healthy meals but we'll see if I can actually stick to my New Year's resolution.

Menu changes have been for the worse. Today when we arrived we waited for 10 minutes before I had to walk up to the front and ask for menus. The menus were very dirty and we felt gross even touching them. Then we waited another 10 minutes for the server. I don't blame the server for being understaffed, but at least some communication that we were not totally forgotten would have been helpful. The soup tasted good, but it was cold, which was disappointing. I got the Thai bowl, and it was mostly all cabbage and carrots with a few random mint leafs. It used to have an assortment of veggies and tempeh that was delicious. Now it only has a small serving of undercooked tofu and very little dressing or quinoa even. My favorite used to be the vegan high protein bowl and the Hungarian mushroom soup. Both have changed so much and are not good anymore. The soup is runny and oily now instead of creamy. The VHP is missing all of the ingredients that made it amazing in the first place and now is more like a basic salad. I am very disappointed as this used to be my favorite place to eat in Anchorage. I just want it to go back to how it used to be.
