    maras dondurma. Turkish ice cream

Amazing turkish food. Iskender doner is my go to. Being an out of towner, I look for something unique. Have had this place twice along with the iskender. Dessert kunefe is good from other places but note to put this in early bevause I was told it would take 30 mins. aren't with the maras dondurma ice cream.

Such a great dining experience with friends this evening. We've gotten the falafel platter to go many time previously. This was the the first time for a sit-down meal. It did not disappoint. From the Turkish tea and coffee to the appetizers, main courses, and unique desserts--everything was spectacular. A++ Service was very attentive, but not rushed. A very nice pace. We arrived at 5 and there were a few diners, but by 6:30-7 it was packed. Friends commented on how clean it was, the nice artwork on the walls, and the overall feel. Absolutely joy!

Door dash order, doner kebab & falafel

If you like bland food do NOT order from here. This place goes crazy with the spices in the most spectacular way! THE BEST DONER KEBAB I HAVE EVER HAD, HANDS DOWN! (Basically a gyro with way more flavor). I will seriously be coming back just for that. Also there French fries are bomb & perfectly seasoned. This place is a hidden gem, and I am so glad they are on door dash & deliver from Muldoon to abbott area. Thank you, Returning customer

Still a "diamond in the rough". I look forward to this meal every time I'm in Anchorage. Reservations are highly encouraged for dinner, but worth the wait if you forget. Traditional Adana kebab, çoban salat, and Sigar börek is enough to make my heart sing. Beware of the grilled pepper! On previous visits they have been charred to bring out the sweet. Unfortunately, this little devil was 1000% HEAT that I felt for hours after just one bite (I don't do spicy). Passed on the baklava and chi this time in favor of an Efes. Highly recommend!!! Delight is an understatement! çok güzel

This restaurant is under new ownership as of MAY 2023!! The original owners are enjoying retirement, and hand selected a new Turkish family to pass their legacy on. The old owners were a lovely family, and selected a brother & sister duo as the proud new owners of this restaurant. They are also very lovely, and are working hard to share their culture with us. If you go to the restaurant they are sometimes working the service floor, and are super friendly. The duo are very proud of their heritage, and are happy to share it with Anchorage. The space & menu has been completely refreshed. I love the new vibe of the restaurant. It's much lighter inside now with beautiful white oak tables & chairs. Touches of bright blue throughout & beautifully decorated. The space has a much more Mediterranean feel. The restroom is probably one of the nicest ones in Anchorage with Turkish glass light fixtures & they used to have a gorgeous mosaic sink bowl until a customer broke it. The artwork around the restaurant is a display of Turkish culture. Service has always been excellent when I have dined there. There was one time I went on a Tuesday during lunch, and the restaurant was packed. There were only 2 servers working the floor so things were a bit crazy, but everyone was working hard, and doing their best. That's all you can hope for when you see that type of situation. I'm glad they have become so popular as it really is an excellent restaurant! The menu has become way more extensive, and while it includes some of the popular Turkish dishes from the previous owners it has become so much more than that. You can sample way more of the country's cuisine; not just items that are well known (doner kebab, humus, baklava). The menu has all the dishes written in the Turkish language, which I appreciate. In my humble opinion the new owners have really brought us a more well rounded & accurate taste of Turkey. The only dish I do miss from the previous owners is their Kalamar. I've dined there 3 times under the new owners, and have found everything to be absolutely delicious. The food is beautifully presented, and I've got to sample way more of the Turkish cuisine. The meze selection is much more extensive now with a selection of cold & hot items. My favorites have been the ezme, dolma, Patlican Salata, sigara borek, antep cheese, and Havuç Meze. Their humus is also delicious, but I love being able to try new items. The Köfte & Adana are some of my favorite dishes from Turkey so I was happy to see them added to the new menu. Both dishes are flavorful and plentiful. I also tried manti for the first time, which are ground beef dumplings. They reminded me of mini ravioli. They were hearty, and delicious. Definitely a "stick to your ribs" type of meal. I've also had the opportunity to try all of their desserts. I love Künefe so I was ecstatic to see it on the menu, and it did not disappoint. Warm, cheesy, sweet goodness. If you are a big super sweet dessert person you are not going to find that here. These desserts are way more subtle in sweetness, but still 109% worth the try. Their baklava is excellent as are the lokum (Turkish delight). Those are probably the sweetest items. The Kabak Tatlisi (butternut squash) is probably my other favorite after the kunefe & baklava. The drink selection has Turkish tea & turkish coffee (served with a lokum) as well as housemade mint lemonade, which is very refreshing, and Ayran (a yogurt based drink). There is also a great selection of beer & wine including a lager imported from Turkey. If you have not ever dined at Turkish Delight I would highly recommend it! It is one of the only Mediterranean cuisine restaurants (besides Greek) that we have in town. It's a great celebration of Turkish cuisine, and heritage. Under the new ownership I believe that the food has been elevated, and it's a way more well rounded representation of Turkey!

Piyaz white bean salad with hard boiled egg

We cannot say enough about this place. This is our first time in Anchorage, and we know we will be going back to Turkish Delight at least one more time before we leave town. The food is beyond outstanding. Creative, so flavorful. My husband is Middle Eastern, and so we know good food from that region. This was exceptional. The garlic yogurt chickpea soup was one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten, anywhere. Spice blend that danced on my tongue. Heavenly. The Piyaz salad of white beans in a tahini sauce with pickled onions and peppers, topped with hard boiled eggs coated in Turkish spices - is your mouth watering yet? More dancing taste buds. My meat eating husband had the grilled chicken thigh, Tavuk Sis. It's rare for a restaurant to serve thighs, and so that alone was a treat - moist kebab morsels, great char on the grill, spiced to perfection. We were particularly impressed at how attentive to dietary needs the menu is. Everything is marked whether vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free, nuts... They are also very attentive to environmental concerns, with none of their takeout containers being plastic - some paper, some bamboo. Service was like eating at someone's home. The owner and chef nurtured us, even told us how to make the soup! The place itself is very comfortable, and so clean you could eat off the floor. As a matter of fact, we watched the owner get down on the floor to clean up after guests with kids had just left! We know this is a place we will be talking about for years to come. And we are very grateful for an absolutely memorable meal.

If you haven't been to Turkish Delight since the sister and brother team took it over in (2022?), go back! The restaurant is bright, uncluttered, and cheery. We ordered the meze option of five appetizer samples for $32, and they made me so happy I had to write a review! The sampler came with naan for the others in our party, and gluten-free sourdough for me. This is only the second place in Anchorage I have been to that gives clear, multiple options for vegan and gluten-free patrons, while still offering meat, dairy, and gluten. And they don't charge more for special breads! (That sounds awfully picky, but it always seems unfair that I have to pay more for something that won't send me to the ER.) I followed up with the red lentil soup...excellent...and the others enjoyed the loaded donar fries. Next time, the cheese sampler is our my list. As is a single order of the spinach appetizer for me by myself. I could have eaten that all night... We were interested to find that there's a film we plan to watch now by Zeynep Kilic (the sister in the team): Tables of Istanbul. From the restaurant's website: "After receiving 10 awards and recognitions for her film, Zeynep (thanks to some helpful nudging from her ever-persistent brother) has segued from researching delicious Turkish meals, to heartfully creating them here in Alaska." Anchorage is lucky indeed. The final touch was a dessert: Turkish delight. As it turns out, I don't like Turkish delight as a food, but the service is adorable enough to require an order. Our dollhouse-loving daughter got an immediate text with the picture of the tiny implement and coffee. As we prepared to leave, a friend originally from Bosnia popped in to pick up an order, saying this is his family's favorite restaurant because the food is closest to their home cuisine. (I just looked it up: Turkish cuisine has had a huge influence on Bosnia's.) Tasty AND authentic!

Turkish Delight is, to likely be utterly cliche, truly delightful. Coming from Austin and having visited Germany multiple times, I like to think I have some experience of excellent Mediterranean cuisine, and Turkish Delight absolutely punches in the highest weight classes. I had better lamb here than I did in Dusseldorf. The food that I've tried is all superb in flavor, portion, and presentation. The cooking, seasoning, and health of their star dishes are beyond reproach. The service is efficient and friendly and the decor is beautiful and, to the outside eye, whimsical in its ornateness, to include the restrooms. Expect to enjoy platters worth of food so good you can't help but keep eating long after your stomach says not to take another bite, gently egged on by waiters smiling at your delight (there's the cliche again) and nonverbally relaying your enjoyment to the hardworking cooks in the visible kitchen. Of special note is the Künefe, which my girlfriend and I agree remains the most delectable dessert we've tried anywhere in Alaska. This place was so good when her parents visited her here, it was her priority to take them here. Trying it was one of the best experiences we've had. Also as someone eager to maintain my athletic performance, they have a variety of vegetable forward, nutritious, balanced dishes that I can easily work into my diet without feeling like a slob, and yet still feel that I had a wonderful, delectable treat. Wholeheartedly recommend, especially for special occasions, because they deserve it. No compromise on quality here.

The food is excellent! The space is very limited. The atmosphere is bright and loud, the opposite of a cozy, intimate ambiance. Very nice sized portions, fairly priced for Anchorage, Ak. Everyone else in Anchorage offers straws. This isn't Cali. get some straws. Our server, Rajneesh, was an absolute delight. Knowledgeable, yet funny and very attentive. He's only been with the outfit for two weeks, but you'd never know it. Oddly great business for being in the middle of a strip mall. They do have a huge inefficiency issue. Be sure you MAKE A RESERVATION. In the 90 minutes we were there, they turned away 14 paying customers, while OVER HALF the tables sat empty with reserved signs. For an hour and a half. They're closed with a two hour split between lunch and dinner, so there's no sliding in for an off meal. Walk-ins might find a niche during lunch (11:30-4:30). We were lucky a reservation canceled at 4:45, otherwise, that's not a good time. Maybe a late dinner after 8:00 works for you? We don't understand good Turkish from bad, but in our book, it was a big winner and we will be returning, just have to figure out when! 06/23

Ordered the tavuk adana with hot sauce (aci sos) and it was so damn good! I think I found my new favorite restaurant! The side salad surprised me and was honestly my favorite part of the meal. This was my first time having Turkish food so I wasn't sure how to eat it but combining the hot sauce with the cacik made the chicken so much better. Also got the firin sutlac and it was a 10/10. Delicious meal, will 10000% return

Hands down the best food in Anchorage. It's always refreshing and much less salty than most Anchorage restaurants. This business prides themselves on serving true Turkish cuisine, and not simply the 'Americanized' version we are accustomed to eating. On our most recent trip to Anchorage we ate Turkish delight 4 times in 5 days. Yes, it is that good! The service at Turkish delight is also great! They definitely have many regular customers. The staff went above and beyond to help me out a few months ago when I was picking up food and people were being harassed near the restaurant- they ensured I was able to leave safely. This was the only time in 3 years where the parking lot was potentially unsafe though. I can't say enough good things about this place!
