While we were staying at the Ilikai Hotel, we went down and had a meal twice. My husband got the smash burger twice. I had the veggie smash burger once and the fish and chips the second time. Burgers were very satisfying. The fish was marlin! I've not had that before. It made for a very meaty and delicious fried fish. The French fries were cooked well each time. Wanted to try this place out because reviews was decent. Me managed at restaurants knowing how long you're supposed to take to touch a table when they sat. I brought my two kids with me, we waited and got sat. Other tables got sat after us but we were the last one to get checked on or even started water! 10 minutes to be checked and knowing my kids was thirsty. Not spending money where you don't acknowledge and have to wait. People that may think "only 10 minutes." Go and learn food service and common service. read more

The service here was good and the restaurant is in a nice spot that overlooks the ocean depending on where you sit. The food in the other hand was very underwhelming especially for the price. I'd rather find a food truck somewhere than eat here again. I asked for a Burger cooked medium and my wife asked for well done. Both burgers were well done. I normally don't push that type of issue so I let it go. The burger was like a cafeteria burger. I don't recommend. I normally don't write bad reviews, but this one is a must. At first we thought oh this is gonna be a great restaurant. It's beautiful nicely decorated right by the ocean. However, the food and the service definitely is alarming. Our waiter was at our table every minute to three minutes we ordered drinks and then we said we wanted to look at the menu. He continued to bother us so we ordered. our drinks didn't arrive until almost 15 minutes later and then we waited and waited. Our food finally arrived at least 30 minutes or maybe longer. It was cold, dry out and terrible. We were with a group of people and I didn't wanna make a fuss however, I was not happy. To top it off we were only six people, and they added gratuity to our bill. I was so upset. It is my choice to put a gratuity not theirs again my fault for not saying anything or making a fuss but this is why I'm writing is review. Came in for a week to stay at the Ilikai. Found this gem the 1st morning. Made friends with an awesome Australian couple in the bar, also on vacation there. We'd meet at the bar pretty much every day. Wailani was sweet with a great sense of humor. Eli always smiling behind the bar. Dwite was a great bartender, you have to try his "smokey tequila" shots. No Kalua pork on the rice with the poached eggs. Send it back. New plate. Arrived with the 'Kalua pork' meat, the potatoes rice and meager Lilikoi hollandaise. Nothing had any flavor, rice was plain steamed rice, potatoes were crispy but again no flavor. What they call Kalua pork was more like char sue. Not tasty, tough slice of fatty meat. Information: they offer only black tea or camomile. I am Local, and they do not offer kama'aina. Don't bother with this meal, I don't think highly of the food. Disappointed that Cinnamon's closed but we decided to give Menehune Grille a chance. Since this was our first time there, I can't comment on the entire menu but I can say that the loco moco did not disappoint and the mochi pancakes was one of the best I've ever had. It was gooey in the middle and a little crispy along the edges. I also recommend ordering a side of crispy bacon. I'll definitely be back again. Mahalo. Future suggestion: It would be nice if the mochi pancakes were topped with strawberries or macadamia nuts for a little crunch and if you offered coconut syrup. read more

What a beautiful setting! Overlooking the harbor, tiki torches, waterfalls and plenty of space on a Tuesday evening. The prices were reasonable and pleasant Hawaiian music. This place is amazing! I stayed at the hotel for 10 days total. I had enjoyed this Location for evening cocktails as well as delicous breakfasts. My trip was unexpectedly extended and I was able to use my laptop while enjoying breakfast creating a beautiful tropical office setting. The waitress was so accommodating and understanding to assist my needs. I felt everything I ordered was delicious and very reasonably priced. The female bartender in the evening was also very kind and pleasant. I loved all the various seating options some with Harbor views and some with tropical trees, or waterfall background. When I visited the pool on the property they also served food from the grill restaurant including happy hour selections. Called a few times to ask questions and no one answered the phone. Left a couple of messages and no one returned my call. Made reservation online for indoor seating because the weather is warm.. When one of my friends arrive, they tried to seat us outside, but she insisted on inside. Waitress was friendly. If they would like to attract more local business, they should offerkamaaina for food. 12/02/2024 I just spent a lovely month at the Ilikai on Oahu and frequented the Menehune Grille many times. The food was delicious, and the presentation, amazing. My favourite drink was their Mai Tai! There was music every night. They have lots of TVs if you want to watch your favourite sports team. Kaipo has done a great job establishing Menehune in a short period of time. I'm sorry if this is a duplicate of a previous review that I wrote, I don't think I saved it but felt compelled to write another. I don't normally write poor reviews but felt this was necessary. The ambience of many hoodie Grill is wonderful. It's a great spot to have breakfast lunch or dinner however, the service was horrible and the food even worse. We sat down and waited 20 minutes before the waitress even approached us to order our coffee or bring any water. It seemed that she was just too busy talking in the back with the other waitresses . We finally ordered an espresso martini and coffee which took another 20 minutes. I saw our drinks sitting at the end of the bar for quite some time and finally asked the bird whisperer if he could get our waitress so we could have our coffee and our drinks. We finally got our espresso martinis, but still no coffee we flagged the waitress down and asked if we could get a coffee and order our breakfast. She left to get the cups for our coffee and came back 20 minutes later. We ordered our breakfast which took another 20 25minutes to get Once the food came it was cold and of poor quality. There were four of us who had assorted items and kind of shared, but the eggs were cold. We asked for the bacon crispy. The bacon was not crispy. Three of us had a breakfast sandwich with bacon also requested crispy and one eggs Benedict. It took us almost 40 minutes to get our food. We got there at 10:45 and left their two hours later. It's so hard to believe that a beautiful restaurant like this would have such poor quality food and service. Don't think I'll ever return. read more

This is a happy hour review. Didn't dare try a real meal here. The food is cheep/low quality reheated Costco premade stuff. with a very high prices. The drinks unbalanced and lacking any taste of the spirits preported to be in them, all just premade syrups and ice . Servers are friendly but unhelpful. If you want to have a nice happy hour experience for the same price and tentimes the quality head to the elevator that goes to Empire on the 30th floor right around corner from this place. Menehune is a gem. It not exactly hidden because it is in the Ilikai Hotel, but many people head into Waikiki to do eat at tourist spots, and miss this great place. The food is well prepared and is NOT hotel food and NOT bar food. It's is REAL QUALITY restaurant food. I've had most everything on the menu but my favorite are the eggs Benedict. They are the best in Oahu. Also, the staff cares. Beer was cold, bartender friendly UNTIL a British couple asked for their check and the bartender preceded to "tell" them about the tipping culture in America and why they needed to tip. It was so tacky and embarrassing. The British couple were FORCED to listen to him go on and on. He automatically assumed they weren't going to tip and totally looked like an a$$hole.
