We rented out Sidebar for our wedding ceremony and reception. The staff (Colonel Spray and Cline) were great and easy to work with. We catered half our menu from the venue and I must say the food was good! The venue is nice and roomy. The seating at the bar area makes it flexible enough to host a sizeable party. Overall I can't recommend this plane highly enough. Definitely keep this place in your shortlist of venues for your next function. read more

Great venue! Rusty was a pleasure to deal with when booking. Lots of parking and overflow is across the street and free! It was almost perfect! The bar is a plus because we didn't have to bring alcoholic drinks, and everyone was happy with the good prices! Four stars because we did not care for the bartendress. We've attended as well as hosted parties at SideBar and it has to be one of the best places to hold a party that has 75-150 people. Personally I think 100 people is the perfect count for this place - not too crowded but not empty. Rusty who is the POC for hosting parties there is always responsive, flexible and kind. The staff is also very accommodating and helpful. The first time we booked was back in 2023 and it was when they were first opening up as a venue. Prices were super reasonable in 2023. We booked another party in 2025 and prices were still very reasonable. We decided to cater through them for our party. I was a tad skeptical but was proven wrong. For a party of roughly 75, we ordered just one pan of each thing and it was more than enough. We had the fried noodles, fried rice, short rib, smoke meat, chicken wings., lumpia and fried ahi. The food was Ono!! It was so good that we thought about catering from them even if we don't have a party there. I think his name was Clyde or Klein who cooks the food - bolohead guy. I think the only take away is that you have to keep the doors closed for AC which makes sense but if you have a jumper outside it's hard to see and the kids will keep going in and out. A family reunion brought me and the spouse to the SideBar event hall, which I believe is owned or run by the military (receipts from the bar read National Guard). Located near HNL, parking is limited, but a gravel lot just across the street (next to the fire station) handled the overflow. The building's exterior is very nondescript and has no windows. The inside was cool and clean, with a permanent bar on one end and ample, flat floor space for multiple seating configurations the rest of the way. No sound system seemed to be available. Restrooms were also clean and located just behind the main facility. OVERALL: Centrally located with easy access to the H1 freeway. read more

My family has hosted 2 graduation parties here so far...one last year and one yesterday (4th of July.) Both times we couldn't have been more pleased with the level of service and professionalism we received. The venue is clean and cozy. We had roughly 200 attendees each time and it was comfortable, no problems walking around to mingle. At yesterday's event, the venue staff consisted of 2 people, Klein and Boo. Both were very helpful throughout the party, answering questions and offering assistance when requested. The bar was open if guests wanted to partake in adult beverages while we provided soft drinks and water for the guests. We also provided our own food but the venue does cater if you prefer that route. Clean up was simple and quick. Klein helped and offered guidance which made the process that much smoother. To be clear, at no time did we feel rushed or pressured. I've been at parties where the staff is virtually breathing down your neck to get you out. This was nothing like that. The Sidebar definitely has my recommendation. If you're looking for a reasonably priced venue for up to a medium sized party, you can't go wrong here. Came for a baby shower, it was my first time here! I didn't even know this place existed! There's parking around the building. The bathrooms were kept stocked, as clean as it can be but not the cleanest. There's a bar. Plenty of space for seats and small vendors. Very cute place for my guess is 150 people. There was space for a Photo Booth, games to play in the front, dessert table. It's a great space. Rented this place for my kids' birthday party. Rusty is really good at responding to emails; I had no issues with communicating with him. Place is a nice size and was able to fit a bouncy house. The place has AC, but the front of the hall was a little warm. However, we did place the bouncy house in the front. Staff is friendly and helpful when we needed help. Facility is clean. Rented this venue for my wedding reception. Turned out wonderful and space was perfect for the amount of people we had. Staff was on it and so awesome, parking was good, a/c was perfect. Easy to Rent and setup/breakdown was good. Decently priced though rented our own stage. Plenny space for food, coolers, pupus, DJ, desserts and live singer. We booked this venue for our son's 1st Birthday Party. Rusty was amazing, he was always responsive and answered all my questions timely. The size of the space was perfect for the number of guests we were planning to have. We were able to fit a small bounce house and play area in the back for the kids which really helped keep them all in one place. You really can't go wrong for the price and Rusty even allowed us to use their refrigerator and ice to keep our non-alcoholic beverages cold. This is a Venue I booked from the mainland for my mother's Retirement. RUSTY was very quick to respond to my questions about pricing and also catering my event. THE FOOD IS Ono the Palehu ribs and fried potsticker(mandoo) , fried rice was 100% legit! So I don't usually do reviews but this business deserves this 5 star review! I had literally the night before a bridal shower to find a venue as we had issues with where we were supposed to have it originally. It was for 50+ guests as well so it was impossible to say the lease esp in Hawaii I thought I'd have to pay hundreds! So here I am it's like 10pm the night before looking up venues knowing I had like a 5% chance of getting anything. Sidebar was the first I contacted and the only! Rusty answered my text right away at 10 at night and luckily there was a last minute cancellation and I was able to grab that spot and for such a GREAT PRICE! The process was simple easy and last but not least the price was awesome! And parking like what more can you ask for! This place is a hidden gem. The price you pay to occupy a space this big is worth it. It's also central location. Rusty & Klein were my main contacts. Rusty was attentive, helpful, and available. We started the planning for a grad party pretty late being that venues usually book up a year in advanced and Rusty helped me figuring a possibility to still make the party happen. He was always available for any questions I had through text or call. When we needed a walk through Klein & Tim kindly assisted me and Klein & bartender Sarah was AWESOME during our event.
